well this is what stigmatisation does. It makes people selfish. All Canadians who were repatriated the past couple of weeks all lied and said they are not sick or have symptoms. Once they landed on Canadian soil they told local news that they had a fever and tested positive but wanted to get back at all costs. There was also delay in other countries releasing info. So the next huge pandemic, forget about it being revealed in a timely manner.

Any racism is unfortunate. Targeting Chinese anywhere in the world with hostility is wrong. However, certain cultural practices involving animals need to end in a country that has been the source of a few viral pandemics. If the practices were occurring in Australia, I'd be angry at them. Wet markets need much stricter regulations, and eating bat meat is unwise. Any behavior that facilitates the possible transmission of a virus from animals to humans needs to stop or be prevented.

the practice of capitalism is behind the spread of a virus from an animal source to a human source. The reason capitalism is responsible for this new outbreak is due to it's tendency to create a population of ppl that live in a manner that forces that population to eat animals such as bats in order to survive. If you look into the diets of 90% of asians, the culture of eating bats (which are very abundant in asia,) is now considered taboo. However, there are still many villages, where most are still living in extreme poverty and rely on bats as part of their diet. As china has incorporated capitalism into their governmental system, millions HAVE been lifted out of poverty, and that's a good thing. However, as capitalism does produce plenty, it's dark side is the fact that in order for such a system to thrive, there must also be a class of ppl living in or below the poverty level. If we choose to live in a system of capitalism, we must know that we are going to also have to live in a world where the unfortunate one's will be a weak link, and without universal access to modern, good health care, those of us who are born fortunate, will be affected by those of us who are born to live in poverty.

100% agreed and correct. With all due respect to Drs. Piot and Mong, Dr. Piot intimated several times that this sort of thing happens and we couldn't have prevented it. What BS!! If you discourage the eating of exotic animals, like Bats and Pangolins, etc., then it will have a much smaller probability of happening. If CCP would have shared the knowledge of the outbreak earlier then we would have had 2 months to prepare for it. Of course, the virus spreads within each country WITHOUT social distancing. But come on. Please be honest.

To this day, China has not released information about the first known Chinese patient.

A bit odd to see "baron" next to Prof. Piot's name. In Belgium "baron" is low nobility, but in his case it's an honorary title, which is awarded to a number of meritorious people every year. The honorary title is hardly ever used, and IF it's used, must come AFTER his first name: "Peter baron Piot" (though even here there are very few people who know/do this).

Solid proof that the Chinese were first to alarm the world and ironically being burdened with the cause. And I'm the only 1 leaving a comment. I worry now of the future

China did not release information about the first known patient, which is mysterious. They have the information, and with the 3 billion surveillance cameras, they can easily trace backward from the first known patient.

With due respect, this is nonsense. Watch Tucker Carlson on the timeline of the actions by the Chinese communist party silencing Doctors in December wanting to warn the government and the world. Let's be fair and balanced. CCP had a responsibility to communicate the genetic sequence early and allow CDC to come and help early. They did not. They waited 2 months. Oops!
