Ever since I watch this movie everytime a friend disappoints me or does something dumb I tell them "What fuck happened to you? You used to be beautiful". I love Jackie Brown. Very underrated.

Haven't watched this film in like 10 years but this scene just blew my mind and I am going to watch the film now. When you watch a film again after not having watched it for years, it's like watching a new film because you're a different person and you're watching it with new eyes. I see so much more in this scene than I did 10 years ago.
It’s not that serious bro
Yes.. agreed. For me it was "Eyes Wide Shut". Initially I was OUTRAGED! Terrible. I even punched the wall leaving the theater! Then YEARS later I rented it from Blockbuster Video. Gobsmacked! Brilliant! Even TCruise was AOK (still not the correct lead for the movie at THAT time).

Love how he didn't care about the girl at all but when the money was short he had to go 😂
I think it was the accumulation of all his screwups: killing Melanie, not confirming they had the total amount, and finally not realizing something was up when he saw Max Cherry (this being the thing that pushed Ordell over the edge.)

Incredibly underrated movie. This is my favorite QT movie. Great movie to listen to when falling asleep or working around the house.
Samuel L Jackson's facial expressions between 0:02 and 0:09 are absolutely brilliant - the way he's waiting for Lewis to elaborate on what happened but Lewis just says F-all!!! Brilliant acting!!!
In the 80’s, I knew a blonde surfer chick in Santa Cruz (she didn’t surf), who looked and acted so much like Melanie (bong glued to her lips, loved cocaine, a backstabber, always plotting felonious crimes), that I think perhaps Quentin Tarantino met her.
Uncanny.
Pretty sure there was probably no shortage of women like that lol, but you never know, he's the kind of guy who bases characters off of real personalities...

This is Tarantino’s most realistic movie. So when I’m in the mood for a Tarantino movie that’s not a “Tarantino movie,” I put this one on
I’m almost inclined to say it’s his best….. almost.
+Greg Bors
Yes, this feeling is mutual. 👍
I thought Reservoir Dogs was the most realistic as far as dialogue and watching Mr. Orange bleeding out like that. Brutal.
Tarentino is at his best when he EITHER writes (True Romance) OR directs (Jackie Brown). When he does both there's no one to edit him and he is too self indulgent. This is definitely his best work as a director. It helps that the book it's based on is fantastic ("Rum Punch" - Elmore Leonard)!
not his screen play i think...certainly based of another work.
I like the scene where Samuel L Jackson closes his eyes and starts to think of what could have happened, for like 6 seconds, as the camera is zooming in on him blotching out everything else around him. And within that time, when he finally opens his eyes again, he has come up with the answer....that it was Jackie Brown
I like this too. It's rare that a movie will take a genuine moment to just let a character think, and show them thinking. And not thinking on the fly. Like "be quiet and let me really think" thinking. Tarantino gets plenty of credit for his talky dialogue but some of his best moments are when he's smart enough to have his characters shut the f up for a minute and let everything breathe a little.
De Niro is so overlooked in this film. He’s in all the best parts

This felt like the kind of movie that could plausibly happen in real life and to see Pam Grier rise like the gorgeous phoenix she was and is...my late father left this movie floatin'! "Then she puts forty grand or so in there to rub that shit in my face!" *LMAO!*
I never got this line. She put the money on top so a casual look under the towel would appear to be a bag full of cash.
She put the money in to plant marked bills on their possession, so the police would assume they had ALL the money rather than Jackie Brown after the handoff. If there wasn’t any money planted, then the police would still be searching for the money she had. She also planted some on Melony during the hand-off too, for the same reason.
The world needs more DeNiro and Jackson interactions.
