one day i’ll live in the U.S. that’s been my biggest dream since has long as i can remember i work everyday for this reason only. thank you for the video :) from France
Did this with my wife last year for our anniversary. Well worth it!! Spent the night in Canon City. Not much to do at night, so we went to see Oppenheimer. Nice theater. Good food at the Lost Cajun, too! Bunkhouse Burgers is a locally owned hamburger joint. Really good food run by awesome folks! Cool little town. Their spring flower festival sounds cool. Royal Gorge is close by, too.
This is what got me into railroad videos back in 2013, unfortunately I can't find that video anymore but this is just like it except for the water. Nice view over the shorthood going through remote dramatic desert landscape far from any roads or buildings. Love it.
Dad used to love watching trains and sharing childhood stories about them. Ever since I started a railfan's playlist of international train rides, revisiting it always reminds me of him.
Growing up in Colorado I am always looking up at those cliffs whenever I go through a canyon wondering which rock is going to come down next :-) with all that aside, it is an absolute stunning ride!
I feel that way whenever I'm on one of these trains 🤣 I was able to spot some goats up on the rocks at some point during this ride but can't remember where they were. Amazing to think of what it must've been like for the people to build this railroad all those years ago
Visited Canyon City in 93' with my father. Took the train from Chicago to Junction City and we headed west..I was on the suspension bridge over the gorge and was like WOW..Took the "train" down the side of the mountain to the Arkansas River and saw those tracks on the other side and wondered..So cool to find this video! Thanks for posting it.
@JustGetOnBoard No doubt, I was only 14 at the time and was impressed. But now..🤩..AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL piece of the great untouched American landscape. My father and I took the Amtrak out to Colorado. Had are own personal two person compartment. The whole vacation was about trains and that part of America. We visited the and road the Silverton Telluride rail line how long to Colorado River, breathtaking views and the Georgetown Narrow Gauge Railroad as well. An amazing Unforgettable trip! That was my 8th grade graduation present
My wife and I were in Canon City about 6 weeks ago. We hiked the Tunnel Drive Trailhead and got to see the train go by. The open car was full and looked like a lot of fun. We also saw it later when we walked across the Royal Gorge Bridge. We have cool pics and videos. We're definitely taking the train next time we're there. Thanks for sharing!!
I hadn't heard this song in years, but it came to me about 30mins into this. ARE YOU GOING WITH ME- Pat Metheny. Goes perfectly over the hum of the engines.
I took a train through Switzerland last summer, it was one of the best rides I've ever been on. Such a beautiful country! I'll post video of it in the coming months
Certainly one of the best railroads in North America for its scenery. The film doesn't do it justice, as the mountains of the valley tower above the river like nowhere else I have ever seen. Add that to the railroads amazingly chequered history of multiple court cases, hired gunslingers and a minor local war over usage rights and it all adds up to a great visit.
You're absolutely correct. The mountains towering above us were incredible and all the history behind it was an awesome surprise. One of the best rides I've ever had!
Spectacular views! Im just unaccustomed to the train driver sounding the horn so much - in Sweden it only happens rarely/when there is a risk of accident.
Lindo passeio, paisagem deslumbrante. Só falta melhorar a qualidade do vídeo de sua câmera para 4K (2160p), pois 1080p não tem uma boa qualidade de imagem e essa natureza linda merece ter a melhor qualidade de imagem disponível no momento. Parabéns e obrigado.
I'm doing one in Arizona next month. Not sure if you're familiar with the Verde Canyon Railroad. My daughter is graduating in Phoenix. I'm excited about doing that 4 hour ride. One really nice one my bucket list is the one up in Skagway, Alaska, the White Pass & Yukon route. Very breathtaking.... one ride at a time
My wife and I enjoyed this ride in 2019 during COVID. The only impact was a slightly reduced menu selection on the train. The skies were smoky from a forest fire outside our hometown (Portland OR) over a thousand miles away. When we "fled" Portland the visibility in the smoke was 200'" (We didn't really flee Portland. You have to get reservations on the dinner train about three months in advance.) Our trip was late enough in the day that we were able to visit the Royal Gorge bridge in the morning. Oh, by the way, did you know that this is a working railroad with about two freight trains daily?
There's no loop or wye to turn the train around. So they go through the best parts of the gorge and reverse back to the starting station in Canon City. Such beautiful terrain!
If you get paid for driving that train I'm in the wrong job! Superb scenery, so relaxing to watch. Just curious though, why did the trip end in seemingly the middle of nowhere then return?
The track is out of service not too far from where it stops. So, the train travels to a siding and then reverses back. There's no loop or wye to turn it around.
one day i’ll live in the U.S. that’s been my biggest dream since has long as i can remember i work everyday for this reason only. thank you for the video :) from France

Wow, that is one spectacular canyon! Must have been a heck of a job building the railroad through there.
I Love It!!! The Sound Coming From The Train & The View! Amazing 💯
Thank you for watching!

Totally with you on this one, there's something captivating with such terrains.

Video này thật tuyệt vời, cảnh quan ở Royal Gorge đẹp đến ngỡ ngàng!
Great scenery. Love that the old pole line is still mostly intact with glass insulators on it!
Love seeing all of the old railroad things like that too! I wish we had more trains like this to show off the incredible scenery the US has to offer
Beautiful landscape, perspective and good sound. Thank you for this video.

Great views!
This deserves a 4K version.
I wasn't sure my GoPro would've been able to handle recording at 4K for that long. I definitely need to do it again and give it a try.
Really enjoyed this. Would love to float that river or take that train.

But in the united states they use the horn verry often its just the law of railroad there

please what was the locomotive ?
According to their website it's a GP40

Fantastic video . Well done . Did think about the poor souls that cut this track out though .
Glad you enjoyed it! I can't imagine what they had to go through to make this line possible.
@@JustGetOnBoard Also the old mining tracks on the other side of the river . life must have been hellish hard .

Yep! A GoPro with a suction cup mount attached to the window
