Been down a few times, travelled on most Welsh lines.
Makes me angry when I think of the wasted opportunites in Scotlands Border Region and West Highlands. Narrow Guage would have been the answer for some closed lines, especially with the steam loco's available abroad, many built in Glasow. We have great scenery too ! Travell to some of Scotlands Tourist Spots, you cannot park, even on the closed railway land.( Which if you can costs you !) A lot of people have taken to driving on. I well remember travelling to some of these places as a child by train, seemed less congested. No doubt, some will disagree, wall to wall motor transport is the thing !

North Wales has been a family holiday destination from my earliest childhood. I watched the Ffestiniog Railway being reopened in stages all the way to Blaenau Ffestiniog, rumours were rife that a group of enthusiasts were planning to re-opening the old WHR, a nice idea, but totally unrealistic, then the unthinkable happened, the old track bed that my Grandfather used to walk me along through the Aberglaslyn Pass Pass could just echo to the sound of trains again. As they say the rest is history, for many, including myself being able to once again ride the WHR is a dream come true.

It is truely a fairytale land with its own myths and legends, even the name Beddgelert 'Gelert's Grave' is a reminder of a tale that brings a tear to many a visitors eye when they learn of the origins of towns name - According to legend, the stone monument in the field marks the resting place of 'Gelert', the faithful hound of the medieval Welsh Prince Llewelyn the Great.
The story, as written on the tombstone reads:
"In the 13th century Llewelyn, prince of North Wales, had a palace at Beddgelert. One day he went hunting without Gelert, ‘The Faithful Hound’, who was unaccountably absent.
On Llewelyn's return the truant, stained and smeared with blood, joyfully sprang to meet his master. The prince alarmed hastened to find his son, and saw the infant's cot empty, the bedclothes and floor covered with blood.
The frantic father plunged his sword into the hound's side, thinking it had killed his heir. The dog's dying yell was answered by a child's cry.
Llewelyn searched and discovered his boy unharmed, but nearby lay the body of a mighty wolf which Gelert had slain. The prince filled with remorse is said never to have smiled again. He buried Gelert here".

Hello, I'm pleased you enjoyed the ride, it was filmed in July, I had hoped for better weather, although I think the rain added to the moody mountain atmosphere, it would have been nice to film it in sunshine, maybe I'll be lucky next time. I'm glad you had good weather for your trip on the line.

My mother would have loved this. As a six year old, she’d hop on the trolley and ride the whole loop around Pittsburgh for a nickel. The Black conductor refused her nickel since she always had big smiles for him. This train would take near where her grandmother lived.

No matter what full trip video of train ventures we can watch, its mind boggling of how long it must have taken to install hundreds of miles of track and this is just one line.

I watched some of this railway being relaid after being closed and lifted well over half a century ago and I can assure you it's back breaking work, we owe the volunteers who bought this railway back to life a massive thank you.

Very nice narrow gauge historic rail. If I ever will be close to it definately gonna try! Nice views, calm ride. Sexy train.

North Wales is home to a number of fascinating narrow gauge railways, all of them well worth visiting, if you do make it there, I'm sure you will enjoy the experience, both the landscape and the coastline are very scenic.

Hello Tim, it's a pity it rained. But without rain there is no beautiful green landscape like we see in this video. It's a nice video nonetheless. Best regards

Hi, Wales without rain wouldn't be the beautiful landscape seen in this video and when the sun does shine it's worth the wait. Cheers. Tim.
