The stretched out games just made it feel worn and tired at the end of that arc of the anime. However Oda never does something just to do something, and that arc and Skypea (another one that people dismiss on their first pass through to current One Piece) have some of the most dense lore setup in the entire series, not to mention the character development for Nico Robin. This was the first video of yours that the algorithm blessed me with. I am of course an immediate subscriber. It was so humanising to hear you talk and share your stories which were brought up via this wonderful show, I am grateful that you shared. I'll be joining you on your voyage to the next chapter, nakama.
That story at the end about your Grandma - beautiful. I'm so sorry for your loss, but it's wonderful to hear she could go in peace, surrounded by her family. It must have meant so very much to her.
"I have to go to Ikea !" Before bursting yet again into heartbroken sobs was perfect. I could see you wandering the stores' aisles, haggard yet with a full heart, before paying for your Asklejtkltulupopup table. There is something cathartic at seeing people being trapped into Oda's storytelling like i was more than a decade ago...
You have the best afterthoughts in one peice reactions videos. You get so deep makes ya feel like family. Love this series and people like you I meet along the way of this incredible story
27:50 No YOU'RE a beautiful thing, man! First video I've seen of you, I believe and boy was it a good one. I appreciate how candid you are in going through the motions of feeling the story. Glad to have you as part of the millions of nakama out there in this fandom.
I’ve posted elsewhere, but my current life revolves around following as many UA-cam reactioners passing thru water 7 > enis lobby > post enis lobby. Thank you for sharing the story of your grand mother. My head cannon is that Merry broke right after meeting up with the Gallela co ship, because she was just trying to hold it together as long as possible until she knew her crew would be ok. The live action absolutely has to at least get to this point in the story. After that point, all people will switch over to the anime, or the reboot, both which benefits Netflix and probably part of their strategy. So, I’ve been listening to the “Mugiwara space podcast” radio show and also the “Nakama ga iruyo - tube” channel where I learn great behind the scenes info divulged by random VAs chosen to be on the show that week. So I learned Ussop’s VA (Yamaguchi Kappei) reads the manga in realtime. Luffy (Tanaka Mayumi) doesn’t and finds out when it’s go time and learns the story progression on the spot as she is about to record. But Ussop’s couldn’t help himself and showed her the comic before recording, and Luffy just couldn’t go thru with it, she was a mess that day and they had to cancel that day’s recording session. But if that was what led to this performance out of her, then more props to Ussop’s VA for also having the observation Haki to see this was what was needed to be done😂
"I wanted to continue going on adventures with you forever" is perhaps the most human line of this entire series. It's so fucking raw and relatable. None of us want to leave, not when we have so much we're leaving behind, and there's much more life to be had. Holy hell I cry so hard, it doesn't matter that it's the millionth time I've watched the scene.
One piece just fills the heart. I definitely relate to what you were saying with just enjoying and looking forward to being with these characters. I rewatched the series in 2020 with a friend who was a first time watcher and loved getting to spend more time with the straw hats while also sharing the experience of OP with someone. Since then I've gotten into react content and reenjoyed the series many times with others. This series always has me coming back on the best and worst days, even if its just to watch a string of clips on youtube, and always leaves me with a full heart (and running empty on tears lol). Thanks for sharing that story about your grandma. I think we all hope to be surrounded by those we cherish at the end.
UA-cam algorithm brought me here and it does not dissappoint! Welcome to the Feels, welcome to the tears, welcome to the beautiful art of One Piece! -your newest sub here!
After watching this powerful send off of our Friend Ship and the personification of an object that you love which plays such a vital role in your life…how was shopping at IKEA for particle board? I’m not knocking it, who doesn’t own some IKEA furniture…I’m just saying when I think of objects that have a soul, MDF isn’t the first thing that comes to mind lol such an amazing juxtaposition 😂
“I’m crying over a fictional boat dying” is such a silly sentence, but that’s also when you kind of take a step back and realized how invested and into this story we’ve all been so far
The first time I watched this scene I didn't cried a lot. My eyes pretty much got teared up a little. But One Piece was essentially the first show I watched that I was able to connect deeply in a emotional aspect, especially relating to the characters. With time, I learned that people who get really emotional during this scene are not being dramatic or silly, it's fully a merit of the show to be able to pull that out of us. We can cry over a BOAT.
No tough man can ever endure Marry when she starts speaking with "Gomene". Instant chills man. Been watching Onepiece for more than 20 yrs and have seen this episode more than I can ever remember and it always makes me cry. EVERY. DAMN. TIME. If you love Onepiece this early on, you are so up for a very big adventure. the show only gets better and better every arc.
Your story about your grandma, It's obviously sad but also beautiful. It reminded me of my dog that died recently. She was 15 and her health had been declining. Then one night I had this feeling that it was her time. I carried her to her bed, and i laid on the floor next to her. I told her it was ok to go, and fell asleep next to her. When i woke up she was gone.
312, my favourite episode to watch peoples reactions to. Yea, i love watching the tears that one piece causes. You ain't ready for whats coming down the pipe. I hope you get a hug and some water.
water 7 - enies lobby is that point in one piece where from that on, things just go up and up in storytelling, and it really doesn't stop until like 5 arcs later
Ennies Lobby up to this day remains as one of the best arcs in anime ever. Peak can only express so much and at the same time covers so little of this arc
this brings back memories, its 20 years since i read this the first time, everyone reacts the same, its a ship and im crying, but its more, merry is a nakama we loved and still miss.. one piece is great, ive followed it since the start and i dont regret spending 26 years with luffy and the crew one bit, just enjoy the journey it only gets better and better... i thought i could get through this for once and not shed a tear,i failed, rip merry...
i try to explain to people that i understand its a long show not everyone has time/patience for that but those long arcs and everything make stuff so much more impactful. if it was a quick told story that ship wouldn't have made you shed a tear. its because you put the time in and felt like you were along for the adventures with the straw hats you end up more invested in the story then you even realize. same thing with later arcs.
Damn i couldn watch it in one go bc it rellay made me cry, and I had to work 😂 I have seen this so so many times in the past 15 years, merry gets me every time... this is true greatness. When a story works so well even after you have seen it several times. Other shows dont work after you learned what happens in the end, one piece works just everytime it is so well written it never gets old.
i was one of the viewers back in alabasta arc that was disheartened by how much you disliked it back then and I doubted you'd stick with it to reach this point, but props to you to sticking with it and finally joining the club of "I cried over a ship". You got my respect XD (I still tear up when watching this despite having seen it so many times through so many reactors, it still hits as hard x_x ).
I love that Merry carried them until she saw the rescue ship THEN let go once she knew they'd be safe! Also yeah this is my 100th time crying over Merry, I feel like I'm conditioned at this point, I see the Merry thumbnail, I start tearing up, I click on the video, I watch it and SOB once she starts talking
I'm glad you continued your One Piece Journey. Some people say One piece gets good 300 episodes in which I disagree with, I think it's amazing from the beginning, but also I think Enies Lobby is when the viewer gets fully immersed and invested in the OP world and it's politics.
Something that I learned after watching anime is that you should always assume that everybody dies. Love every character if you’re inclined and pay attention cause there will be call backs that will make a scene that much more impactful. “Keep your expectations low and you’ll never be disappointed” - Kratos “To grieve deeply is to have loved fully” - Laufey
The moment I saw the way you opened the video all cheerful and grooving to the opening, I knew that you were going to be in for a very harsh reality check you weren't ready for. Get the tissues, man, even rocks cry during 312, nevermind mortel men. You did well.
I was thinking of this arc back in the Sky Islands when you were thinking about discontinuing the series and didn't really like Robin joining. I am so glad you stayed
Everyone is a gangsta until the ship says: "Gomene"...
Pretty much😂everyone breaks at that point
i like how amazing this sentence is, while at the same time make absolutely 0 sense to those who haven't watched One Piece.

This was the first video of yours that the algorithm blessed me with. I am of course an immediate subscriber. It was so humanising to hear you talk and share your stories which were brought up via this wonderful show, I am grateful that you shared. I'll be joining you on your voyage to the next chapter, nakama.
I just clicked on your video out of curiosity, but omg I loved your version of "We Are" 😂 tbh that was great!!
Merry Christmas and welcome to the "I cant believe I cried over a ship" club
Everybody gangsta until the ship says... well, anything. 😭
Holy hell I cry so hard, it doesn't matter that it's the millionth time I've watched the scene.
you ever cried over replacing a car or a mouse or a bed? no cause its stupid...this is the same grow up
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤ so much emotions (even if I saw it several times over the years, it hit me every time)
I agreed with the comment about Vivi. She deserved to say goodbye too. And yes I also cried for a boat☺️
Good luck at Ikea! Just don't imagine all the flat-pack furniture having a spirit because you took good care of it and it loves you.
Is it time for a Nerdy Wordy One Piece Club? A fireside chat with your buddies for all of us to cry together one more time, perhaps?
Merry Christmas Nerdy
Everyone cries over the boat. it is *such* a strong scene
thank you for sharing about your grandma, it was a beautiful story.
UA-cam algorithm brought me here and it does not dissappoint! Welcome to the Feels, welcome to the tears, welcome to the beautiful art of One Piece!
-your newest sub here!
Sanji is an absolute Sidequest King.
17:48 "they look so young😢" lol that was just 3 months ago in one piece time😆
Congratulations on entering in I cried for a ship club.
That OP cover was awesome lol
After watching this powerful send off of our Friend Ship and the personification of an object that you love which plays such a vital role in your life…how was shopping at IKEA for particle board? I’m not knocking it, who doesn’t own some IKEA furniture…I’m just saying when I think of objects that have a soul, MDF isn’t the first thing that comes to mind lol such an amazing juxtaposition 😂
I stuck around to the end. Love seeing your raw emotions. we've all been there.
imagine when Clarus noticing Nerdy crying at night and asking whats wrong and he be like "its the ship, its the fucking ship" 🤣
I'm here and ready to cry again
“I’m crying over a fictional boat dying” is such a silly sentence, but that’s also when you kind of take a step back and realized how invested and into this story we’ve all been so far
You’re the best, man! Keep it up ❤
as soon as you mentioned needing to go to ikea at the beginning i was like.. uh oh
EVERY. DAMN. TIME.
If you love Onepiece this early on, you are so up for a very big adventure. the show only gets better and better every arc.
welcome to the club buddy 😭🫡 also intro song u made is ❤
Your story about your grandma, It's obviously sad but also beautiful.
The way u connected with the history is such a strong moment ❤ great reaction my friend
I'm glad you enjoyed that. Everyone cried over the ship. Brace yourself because there will be more and enjoy.
Lol "I have so much more I have to accomplish today"... Don't worry. We're with you for this.
Ennies Lobby up to this day remains as one of the best arcs in anime ever. Peak can only express so much and at the same time covers so little of this arc
The moment from right after he says “I’m going to IKEA!” is pure gold.
Thanks for sharing your story about your grandma. It’s a beautiful story
Nobody dies in One Piece, but when they do...
Well, they won't actually - they are going to live as long as we remember them.
spoilers
so ready to see how nerdy reacts to ace dying if this is how he reacted to merry 😭
I joke contented earlier but your end of video talk was really beautiful.
this brings back memories, its 20 years since i read this the first time, everyone reacts the same, its a ship and im crying, but its more, merry is a nakama we loved and still miss.. one piece is great, ive followed it since the start and i dont regret spending 26 years with luffy and the crew one bit, just enjoy the journey it only gets better and better... i thought i could get through this for once and not shed a tear,i failed, rip merry...
i try to explain to people that i understand its a long show not everyone has time/patience for that but those long arcs and everything make stuff so much more impactful. if it was a quick told story that ship wouldn't have made you shed a tear. its because you put the time in and felt like you were along for the adventures with the straw hats you end up more invested in the story then you even realize. same thing with later arcs.
Damn i couldn watch it in one go bc it rellay made me cry, and I had to work 😂
I have seen this so so many times in the past 15 years, merry gets me every time... this is true greatness.
3:24 I think you mean this is the true power of our friend, ship.
Thank you for the reaction and sharing the story of your grand mother. Much love
Something that I learned after watching anime is that you should always assume that everybody dies. Love every character if you’re inclined and pay attention cause there will be call backs that will make a scene that much more impactful.
“Keep your expectations low and you’ll never be disappointed” - Kratos
“To grieve deeply is to have loved fully” - Laufey
I love this episode, always cry
I like to see especifically this episode reaction to share the feeling
Thanks by yours
I’m happy I waited to watch your last episode and this one together
15:56 it sounds like "I will go sailing no more" from Toy story
Everyone is like “when the ships says I’m sorry I lost it”.
I lose it when she says “But I was happy. Thank you”.
19:18 😂
🐏: Oh you're gonna stop crying? Alright hear me out, "Gomenne...."
The foxy arc also foreshadowed all the drama with the crew splitting up, I completely missed that the 1st time around
The moment I saw the way you opened the video all cheerful and grooving to the opening, I knew that you were going to be in for a very harsh reality check you weren't ready for. Get the tissues, man, even rocks cry during 312, nevermind mortel men. You did well.
Been a fan of OP since the year 2000 and believe me , i have seen and read this scene so many times and i still cried my eyes out with you
I was thinking of this arc back in the Sky Islands when you were thinking about discontinuing the series and didn't really like Robin joining. I am so glad you stayed
When he started balling before they even played the merry montage and before merry said "I'm sorry" i knew we were in for a ride lol
Incredible story about your grandmother. Very relevant, she was the ship holding out. Thanks for the vulnerability. Here’s to the future!
I am so glad you kept in it to get to this
20:04
"But I've been happy."
*'Mother Sea' plays*
Even after 20 times, the tears still come.
We need a story about your way to IKEA where you explain to your wife that you cried over the ship😉❤ MERRY Christmas!
😢😢😢amazing reaction vid love the content.
your story about your grandma made me cry, i get it.
the only thing thats different between people who cry over the boat and those who don't is loss.
