Well one thing is the camera/crew and one thing is actually seeing Gordon. Idk if they’re asked to act surprised or not but personally I’ve seen times when people act or give off a surprised expression when anticipating someone (without a crew present) so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s just a natural response
I love it when Gordon starts using WE and OUR instead of You and YOUR the minute he starts working on the restaurant.. this shows how sincere he is about saving their business
You’re absolutely right! Saying “you” and “your” would be much more combative and place a barrier between them, but he uses “we” and “our” to show he’s part of the team. I hadn’t noticed this, Thanks for the insight.

Classic American closed in September 2013. It was the last restaurant on Long Island visited by Ramsay to remain open (every restaurant he remade on Long Island has since closed). Davide was sold in November 2013 and eventually closed in January 2014. Downcity closed in December 2011 due to financial reasons. Mere months after the episode aired.

There seems to be two kinds of restaurant owners on this show: the type, like the first restaurant of this video, that's genuinely just in need of help, and the other kinds where the owners are the reason the business isn't doin' well. One just needs a push to get their business back up and running, while the other is reluctant to change their ways. And I believe this is the reason why some businesses fail and some don't.
its nuts how many of these places got a chance and how many have been able to shut down and not just continue let me guess maybe 2 out of all of them are still here today or maybe none
"I think you're one of those customers that I would fire immediately." First, that customer is Gordon Ramsay. You don't fire him. You can't fire him. Second, Abby, dear, that is not how that works. You can't fire customers because they do not work for you. And you call yourself an owner. 🤦🏾♂️
People, especially the owners of the businesses, fail to realize that their restaurants were going to fail no matter what, hence why they called Gordon in the first place. Most of the businesses close before the episode even airs and still blame Gordon instead of themselvws.
And a lot of it is because they were already in debt by so much at least most of them were able to sail and make something off of the business or try to break even
...holy lords, i never saw nor have cooked foods like the bad ones shown here. O.O This almost makes me wish i would've worked as a cook and later as a chef after i got the education...
I don’t know why people act all surprised 😮 even go so far as to blame Gordon Ramsey for the business that failed after the show. This show is like Spring cleaning your home or a total head to toe makeover on people. While you are clearly given the ending results of each forms of the transformation and even provided the tools to continue the transformation. Without the true change of the commitment of consistency any changes upgrades etc are only momentarily and will automatically result in the same outcomes of previous disasters of before every single time. Gordon Ramsey isn’t flipping every bill for everything everyday, he isn’t there everyday to assist even run every part of the restaurant, and he isn’t an partner nor financial advisor for these people as they run their businesses. Some of these people undergo financial hardships, some despite given the tools needed and even restaurant makeovers including new menus with equipment have no idea how to run a business neither a restaurant, Gordon Ramsey isn’t handpicking staff neither supplying any long term staff, and some people get sick/retire etc then have their business suffer tank even as an result. So, it’s unfair to base the ruin of these restaurants for those that were even are because of the show. Hate or love Gordon Ramsey he’s a world renowned professional successful Master Chef with his own restaurants. Food is subjective. Some like some may not like Gordon’s food/skills. Some people may can even out cook him or give him a run for his money perhaps even teach him a thing or two. HOWEVER what can’t be ignored/disputed is Gordon Ramsay’s successful career including all the successful ratings of his shows (plural) not to mention his still existing in operation all of his restaurants without ANY closing. Can’t argue with that and this man’s results are facts!!!

It’s because most of the time the people running it had no experience and would eventually go back to their old ways. Or just financial issues that maybe didn’t fully allow them to keep Gordon’s changes
A lot of them abandoned his changes and went back to their old ways. "Because it's what our regulars want" is the usual excuse despite there not being enough 'regulars' to keep things afloat. I don't feel sorry for them but I do some he arrived too late where they were foreclosed before they gad a chance to turn things around. Phillip.
