    I have a question about those tiny shunt looking things beside the power stages, are those for how AMD monitors power draw? Asking because I have a GTX 1050 and trying to defeat the power limit the only shunts the card has are like those but when I short them it doesn't help lower power draw reading at all...

    Hey, couldn't you make a PCB comparison between a REF 5700XT and REF RTX 2060S/2070. But not in terms of which layout is (better), but rather which cards uses more expensive components. I think many people including me are curious about who's is making bigger margins from their respective cards.

  • @neojack333

    the BIOS switch is there because you have the choice between normal BIOS and quiet bios (slight underclocking, but i'ts much quieter 37dba instad of 39dba. noise is doubled every 3dba, so it's like 60% less noisy)
    anyway, 37dba is still too much. The 5700(xt) red devil is still the king in terms of silence

    • @thehumangerm
      @thehumangerm 4 роки тому

      It just has a very aggressive fan curve. You can modify that. Also realize that this is a pre overclocked card. You can drop it down to reference speeds and it will be quite quiet.

    • @K31TH3R
      @K31TH3R 4 роки тому +1

      If you're really intent on buying the THICC, no, the EK block will not fit the THICC. Pretty much the only reason to buy the THICC is if you _really_ like the look of all the cheap plastic components covering the card and are willing to pay a premium for it. The VRM's aren't as efficient as the reference card, and the heatsink barely outperforms the blower and only does so when making slightly more noise than the blower. If you're going to eventually watercool the 5700 XT, buy a reference card.

    So it's nothing special but it's probably enough to do the 2 GHz overclock to push it to the 2070 super level, just like the reference but not as loud. I also heard the XFX card has a very aggressive fan curve out of the box, so changing the fan curve and overclocking it might not be a bad idea.

      This is quite a mess...
      However. Since the thicc II spins so fast I'm afraid that it will shorten the lifespan of the fans. And it also consumes quite a bit more power than most other Navi cards, so that's a no
      So honestly idk what's the best option. I'd rather not buy a mediocre card so maybe I'll just wait for the red devil's price to calm down
