I have utterly no clue what he’s talking about, but I enjoy his original relaxed and non-academic non-bullshit way of explaining stuff, and let me tell you, this is way better for falling asleep than Netflix 😂😇👍🏻 so keep up the great work ! yeah I know it’s weird falling sleep to a Rx580 breakdown but hey what do you want me to tell you...
I love that every video starts with “what is this computer doing?” phrased in different ways. Buildzoid, you are awesome, Sir!
So, can you make a descending list of overall best 5700 XT GPUs?
Here’s my incorrect list:
ROG Strix
Red Devil
Nitro
TUF
MSI Gaming
Gigabyte Gaming
Red Dragon
Pulse
Challenger
Mech
Evoke
Thicc
I think PowerColor cards and MSI Gaming X
pudicus2 aaaand reference didn’t even make the list. The list with THICC. Shame on you, Radeon. Your design is so bad you don’t even get mindshare.
@@pudicus2 The TUF is actually attrocious according to Hardware unboxed. Worse than reference.
Yea it would be cool if you pinned an updated list for every new breakdown by rank. Probably more prone to receive some likes that way too, from the folks that got too lazy to watch entire video and just wanted your valuable input summarized. Either way keep it up man I love the deep dives
Also, I bet you’ve been asked this before, but:
Have you always used a mouse to doodle those notes? Or is it a pen? If mouse I am very impressed
the3orpdeenyse he uses a tablet and pen
Bildzoid Starts 'Hi guys guess what we're taking a look at today, another 5700XT' sounds like Buildzoid is feeling like he has done Fifty-Seven Hundred Radeon XT PCB breakdowns,
Thanks so much for taking us through all these PCBs Buildzoid, it must get a repetitive doing so many similar boards one after the other,
Have you heard from G/N Steve if he & Patrice maybe performance reviewing the AsRocks?
Steve & Patrick must be tired of the same results no matter the cards but hoping for a Surprise stand out
He found it! the Yeston RX580 Bark Bark lol
@@bepbep7418 I thought as Snr. Correspondent Snowflake would have been the one requesting it to be Performance tested but Patrick Ordered it,
Ali Express lists it as YESTON RX 580 (2048SP) CUTE PET, But Steve said the name translates as WangWang
it looks like a Blue/Pink/Purple Cat Face, It's Ears & Mouth lights up & the Fans look like Cats Eyes when they spin 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@shaneeslick and Wang Wang translates to
汪汪
wāng wāng
gleaming with tears
woof woof (sound of a dog barking)
(literary) (of a body of water) broad and deep.
@@bepbep7418 Thank's, I find info like that really interesting, especially foreign words/Symbols that are a description,
although it can get a bit hard to understand, because like Wang Wang Steve didn't pronounce it the English way of saying the grouping of 'WANG' it sounded very more like 'Warn Warn'
I also have Dutch friends & their Umlaut & diaeresis or trema really make it hard learning the pronunciation
Just in time. I love you.
Nah I'm getting a Yeston RX580 Bark Bark
I open this video and a properly made 5700 XT pops up and I'm already finding this to be amazing. These are power stages similar to what is found on half the brute forcing X570 Asus boards, which already tells me that even with doublers, this one is going to be the fun card for overclocking. Yay thermal runaway! Fffhahahaha!
Regarding the disparity in powerstage efficiency and heat, maybe they're not accounting for power factor? Like if the AC Component of the ripple it puts into the input is significant, and the current is not 90 degrees out of phase with that, then it will have a power factor less than 1 since it's not a fully DC circuit anymore. If that's the case, it can have on paper worse efficiency than the actual average power (dc power) lost in the powerstage. This is definitely an issue for AC/DC systems, where on the AC side the "ripple" is the whole waveform, if the current and voltage are not 90 degrees out of phase, but I don't know if the expected input ripple for a DC Buck regulator is significant enough for PF to be a concern. I did notice those 2 inductors right next to the input side of the VRM (instead of near the power connectors), so if PF is an issue those would definitely help with that.
Also, looking at the power traces on the top layer, the SOC VRM is off that little R47 inductor, but it looks like phase #10 on the vcore VRM is connected to either of 2 main VRM input inductors with those 2 R0 jumpers, but it looks like they can optionally connect it to the same input as the SOC VRM. Possibly this is the pcie edge connector 12V input (I can't tell because that trace is on the front and back of the card and then goes to an internal layer). Any idea why?
and of course after letting buffer and load THERE IS MY ANSWER!!! ty.
You should do the MSI gaming X 5700xt as well it has pcb pics on techpowerup
Hey, had you ever did PCB breakdown of reference 5700's? Is it safe for this PCB to flash 5700 with XT bios and OC? Not concerning about cooling at this moment, only about power delivery. Thanks in advance ;)
Man I'm waiting on your MSI Gaming X 5700 (XT) review
Oh god we're gonna have to start accounting for firmware. I guess you have to actually test transients It you want to know how good they are anyways, no theorizing that
Sorry to bother you bud, Something has been racking my brain for weeks now.
I'm wondering when doublers are added how much phase overlap is created if any?
Example: you have a doubled 3 phase, The switching order being A1, B1, C1 overlapping by 33%? BUT when they go to low side an IR3599 would send power through A2, B2, C2 meaning at any given point theres always 3 stages on, is that right?
I'm struggling to picture the pulse over time graph is all. Cheers!
The pulse overlap depends on phase count and duty cycle. At 10% duty cycle you need 10 phases before they start overlapping at 20% you need 5 phases. As for doublers here's the orders:
3 phase: A B C
3x2 phase: A1 B1 C1 A2 B2 C2
6 phase: A B C D E F
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking Thank you buddy that makes sense....I think.
Still gonna have to decipher it (pulses going down phases like cars down a highway).
Latter half is clear as day.
First half is a bit more tricky to wrap the head around, A 4 phases at 25% duty cycle might have only a single 60 amp power stage on at one time? I'm guessing those 4 phases if the duty cycle is halved to 12.5% but you use doublers it works out the same?
Derp google images is a good tool.
I have a very important question for you, do you still think the ASRock 970m pro 3 is the best micro atx am3+ motherboard? Can it stand an 8 core fx CPU running handbrake h265 encoding for multiple days without pause at 4ghz?
Please someone write a Scrip for Buildzoid so he can do the video in half the time xD
Anybody have any idea if it has the same or similar mounting/screw holes as the challenger?
What gpu would you recommend in the same price point?
only a little over half way through the video, and unsure if i will find the info i am looking for, but i cam here to find out which microchips were in fact the bios chips. as there are 3 that look identical on this board. two of which are on exact opposite sides of the board from each other, these are the two i believe are what im looking for as this card is a dual bios. i am working on a bricked one that im leaning on having a bios problem or a power regulation problem. (previous owner of the card admittedly tried crypto mining on it and there for i imagine they also tried a bios modification that went wrong) so, if it is not covered in this video, could you kindly let me know the location of these bios chips on this exact card.
doubt I might get a response, but can anyone help me find a waterblock and backplate to watercool this card by any chance. Havent had any luck and this will be my first WC build as well as its going to be ITX SFF
Can i add manually capacitors?
Plans for Gigabyte OC or not?
waiting for pictures
Actually Hardcore Overclocking Thank you.
Do the budget asrock one
I'm 99% sure it's on the same PCB as the THICC and EVOKE
The only thing I learned from this video is that SiC is somehow able to defy the laws of thermodynamics.
Guess Asrock's like "motherboards usually have voltage controllers on the front of the PCB, so we're doing the same here"
Wait a minute, when did ASRock start making graphics cards?!?!
Is this a reference design card that I could throw on a custom loop or otherwise liquid cool? The fan noise from this card is unbearable.
Here is a performance review of this card: ua-cam.com/video/c22FUDAkmeE/v-deo.html
Cooling has a bit to be desired.
5800XT incoming
Refresh otw
Now please do MSI 5700XT Gaming X. PLEASE... Nitro+ is a bit let down. I gonna pick one up choosing between Strix, Nitro+ or Gaming X.
Considered the Pulse?
I still need to get a datasheet for the power stages on the Gaming X
Just get the red dragon
If only choose based on vrm quality, get the strix
@@phuongnguyenha5043 I will choose based on overall quality of a card come out of the box.
I watch and read reviews mostly on Gaming Nexus, AHO and techpowerup.
From my understanding currently it goes like this.
1) Core Clock
Strix > Gaming X = Nitro = Taichi > Red Devil
2) Cooling (Based on temp, core clock, acoustic)
Gaming X > Nitro = Red Devil > Strix > Taichi
3) Power Consumption (Less is better)
Strix > Red Devil = Gaming X = Nitro > Taichi
4) PCB
Strix > Red Devil = Taichi > Gaming X (guessing) > Nitro
5) Looking (IMO)
Nitro > Gaming X = Taichi > Red Devil > Strix (Old boring looking one from Asus)
Nitro+ is still nasty af tho
Haven't we got to the point where all 5700xt vrm and gpu layout and thermals are, ALL THE SAME, and rather pointless to comment on, the only difference is the custom cooling solution, (sorry spelling whilst inebbriated). shouldnt we be pointing out just the exceptionally sh1t or awesome cards? And i love your material fyi, keep it up.
except the taichi is one of the few non generic boards
no need for shit nvidia supers review
First!
third, lol. now I feel like I'm a few decades younger for typing that, lol.
I second that
What do you mean this comment is 1 day old UA-cam?? This video just got posted 10 minutes ago??
reported for hacking
reported for being in the 1 day or so early AHOC discord club, lol. It's not an exclusive club, AHOC Patreon supporters to the channel do get some perks, like access to the discord that vids like this do sometimes get posted on early.
