the fact that, when he finds the skeleton, he cries, feeling bad for the poor soul who lost their life at sea. I find that so touching
I guess as a way to repay his kindness, the woman was given another chance to live. One I’m assuming will be a much better life than the one she once lived.
Really beautiful. Seeing inuit folklore as animation is so wonderful... Really well done. I really wish there was more of this kind of thing in the world. The animation on the skeleton in particular is really well done... giving her that jerky, creepy motion was great. It really did look like she was chasing him, even though she was just caught up in the lines. Really great atmosphere, with a cute ending.
(And for those who may be wondering, I looked up the actual story, and the pair become lovers afterwards and she helps him catch fish so he's never hungry again apparently ;p)
This cartoon is about how to get a true love. For the most true and eternal love you have to face "death" in your relationships. The man got scared of the teryfing skeleton, but somehow he found beauty in it. And skeleton took some light from his soul and turned into the woman.
Legend actually ended up with them to be together till the and of the world. For him to face skeleton was the beginning of fulfilled life with the most wonderful woman.
3 years too late but check out another great animated movie called Brother Bear. Based on Inuit mythology. Great hand drawn animation.
It is never too late to comment on a good video XD
If anyone here is watching this and doesn’t know what cartoon saloon is please check them out. All of their films are phenomenal.
I agree
I like that the poor girl found a second chance at life, and took it.
Discovering these old works is so intriguing.
Every time when I think Cartoon Saloon can’t get more interesting, I get proved wrong.
Dear Lord what a fake out. You had me at the edge of my set. The guy dragging the skeleton to his hut didn't scare me, the skeleton moving and drinking the guy's tear didn't scare me, THE FACT that the skeleton LITERALLY stuck her HANDS into his chest is what scared me. I thought she was going to SUCK the life from him!
Then after it happened I was like, "Awe, he's not alone anymore."
The legend says the skeleton woman used the man's heart as a drum and sang for each part of her body and once it was done, she put it back in place and fell asleep by her lover's side.
Sameee :')
@@karanhdream I think to animate that for short film maybe too long in their mind.....or maybe they just don't want to freak out the general audience who don't know much about Inuit.
Man..I would like a Part 2 of This
It's so Well made and The story especially is Enchantingly Sweet
Absolutely gorgeous. Very well done.
They are made of the same material! He saved her!
This is the tale of Skeleton woman!!! amazing short movie. Please people (especially women), go to read the explanation at the book 'Women who run with the wolves'.
crap I have that book on my shelf and haven't read it yet thank you
Such a heart warming tale. It spoke volumes without uttering even a single word.
I’ve been coming back to this video regularly since I first saw it sometime around 2014 or 2015, and it’s every bit as beautiful now as it was when I first saw it.
wow, amazing! There is an edge of creepy to this, but its also so beautiful, especially once I realized that she hadn't killed the guy by taking his energy, only given herself some life.
The ending to this is adorable!
Maybe if we face death, it doesn't have as much power over us.
Skeleton Woman - Heather Dale
This song tell this story and is amazing, you should listen it !
thank you for telling about a song :) it really is beautiful
This is beautiful!
This story is from 'Women Who Run With the Wolves' Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype Clarissa Pinkola Estés. Beautiful animation! I am a big fan
Well...that book is collecting native stories so, the story is IN the book but not necessarily FROM the book.
my god! for a moment I thought it's some kind of sleep paralysis thing that will haunt me for a while, I'm so grateful for the sweet ending :D
This was so interesting and unique. beautiful
She THICC
She THICC
But most importantly
She THICC
Really good animation~
В книге "Бегущая с волками" тоже есть эта сказка - Женщина скелет
Так здорово увидеть анимацию
I had been looking for this since the first time I saw it beautiful artwork and touching story
This is scary yet beautiful
the lost part ...the anima.... he rescues her and at the end she saves him... we are so afraid of the feminine still scares us so much ...our own unknown depths...
So true! I also like how she is drawn to be thicker, or curvier, than we are used to seeing woman drawn in animation.
@@briannalee1998 the luscious roundness of the feminine, the images are wonderful
This is a beautiful story.
Beautiful
awww. the ending !! :)
Beautiful :D
OMG I thought she killed him, but I was happy to know she didn't :D Great story
Guess you could say that was.....heartwarming *bedum tiss*
Good - he jump-started her, she didn't suck out his life energy - that's fine, if only we could do that for people more often in life
Wow the ending is so beautiful
That poor woman, who’d want to drown a beautiful soul like her?
Her stepmother must have convinced her father to do so. That thing usually happens in folktales...
I was really interested to see where this goes when he wakes up, but then...it just stops.
It was beautiful I cried.
It gave me chills
Bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh. Heart of my heart. God created woman.
She has my body type and now I feel beautiful
What's you type? She looks like a pear 🍐🍐
awwww
csodás!
PERFECT!!!
this short movie creeped me out
Привет из России! Прекрасный мультфильм...хотя и немного жуткий😅
Напоминает песню Короля и Шута "Фред")
Wow that was really cool! I love the Inuit culture it's so awesome... Except I don't fully understand the ending... Did the man die? Or did he just share his soul with her?
Gin GinGin they ended up together as man and woman in a natural marrige.
This folktale is so touching! What is it even called?
ماشاءالله روعه . Amazing work
7:10 ♥♥♥ sweeeeeeeeet
Cute:3
wait, he went fishing out of hunger, but what he got was another mouth to feed. Come on! (she better be prepared to pull her weight.)
Uh, I am the only person who thought that she was just going to take the sadness of this man after she is seen and wiped his tear ?
(at first time)
It took me awhile to figure out that the skelleton was his daughter!! So cute!!
Hannah Byrnes Well, it could have been his daughter, but it wasn't explicitly stated that she was his daughter, so he could have just been a random kind stranger who decided to take pity on the dead.
But still! It could be most of the time in shows, movies it happens so it can still be!
Hannah Byrnes personally I don't think the father would fish in a lake where he threw the body of the daughter and I think it would have said "until he [the father] returned" instead of "a solitary fisherman" at 1:20....
Alexis Mae Godina Yep, that's also what I was thinking; it was probably a stranger who was struggling so hard that he dared to fish in supposedly haunted waters.
+Liuhuayue Yes, I certainly feel like this is a "kindness of strangers" sort of story. I think we'd be given more context/information if the father had a change of heart, was no longer cruel, and deeply regretted his horrible actions.
Its one was long before Wolfwalkers
Фантазии одиноких мужчин.🤓🧟💁👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
the music sounds like Sigur Ros, does anyone know any of those songs from this movie?
cruel father raised his boy as a man at the cost of killing boy's feminine part, anima. boy had to push it into subconscious and get fragmented inside. then he stared a journey under the ocean of emotions. what he found was scary at first. he had to run away. as he become comfortable with her presence in the cave, he actually let her out. question is: how does one fish in the first place?
WOWWWWWWWWWWW ❣🧠👑🏆👏👏👏👏👏👏💚🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
What's the folklore from this based on?
Inuit. The natives of Alaska
thats batshit crazy
Really good! I didn't realize it was his daughter at all :)
yoyo-na ratu it wasn't. The Father of the woman threw her into the ocean where she drowned
Were did she get the string to her hair!!?!?!?
Cicero and the Night Mother😆

Is a silence short movie
I didn't get it, so she stole his life and he's dead now?
It scared me until the very end when I saw the story of the Genesis retold - a woman is born from a man's rib and this is nothing but a consequence of love
I don't get It,did She used his Life force to resurecct herself and then She Gave It back?
I dont understent this film
