    I hired Marty in early 2000s. Probably 2002. He was just starting out as far as I can tell (UA-cam did not exist for many years later) Marty back then, like now is a patient and well thought out educator in music. The most genuine musician perhaps I have ever met over 20 years of playing. I'm just saying. He taught me a ton in a short amount of time.

      Despite all there critics, Stone Temple Pilots outsold and won almost all the top grunge band readers polls during the classic grunge years 90-96, they were the top selling grunge/alternative band of '91, burying bands like nirvana and rage the machine that year, 91 is widely regarded as grunge and alternative rocks golden year, so much talent in such a short time, STP surpassed all and to this day are still heavily under appreciated.

That's the tuning DeLeo used while accompanying Weiland during one of his radio performances. It sounds so much better using standard tuning. [YT = "Stone Temple Pilots - Plush (Acoustic)"]

    Hey Marty! Just wanted to thank you so much for having such a dope channel and being such an amazing teacher. I've got a 2 year old boy, and when he was an infant, for some random reason, he would only calm down if I sang "Plush" to him. It was a failsafe. Cut to a year later...I've been coming to your channel for a couple months now and just learned Plush from you...I was outside playing it, and when I finished, my boy turned around and said "Yay, daddy!" and ran over and gave me a big hug. Coolest moment of my life...and I have you to thank. Grateful. Continue to rock on brother and I will too!

    I find it easier to play that Major 7and most Major 7 chords like this. Eb Maj7 xx1333 The root Eb is the 1 on the D string. Easily moveable type chord this way and its located close to the previous C chord location. Hope this may help anyone having an issue with the other chord. Thanks again Marty for the best lessons on the web.everyone at any level can gain from your teachings thats what makes them so great.

    The part where you have to mute the strings in between chords and play a percussive really confuses me

    • @the_original_Bilb_Ono
      @the_original_Bilb_Ono 3 роки тому +1

      Why? What is confusing you? Its insanely easy and should come naturally. Actually *feel* the song and *feel* the rhythm and just do it. Lift your fretting hand off the chord but lightly cover the strings and strum. Its that simple. Again, just feel the rhythm. That is a technique you should really want to get down in your first month of playing guitar, its a base technique used in every genre... Try doing it with one chord, repeating the same chord. Dont over think it! The most common reason beginners and intermediates have difficulties with certain things is because they are over thinking and not letting their body take the lead. Once you do it once, you'll be able to do it effortlessly forever after.

    • @the_original_Bilb_Ono
      @the_original_Bilb_Ono 3 роки тому

      Also in this specific song he is muting with his left and right hand at times. The muting you are probably talking about is a bit trickier, but still easy once you get it. Its basically a strum and slap quickly put together - really its almost simultaneously. I kinda bend my wrists upwards, so my pick is almost pointing upwards. And do a slapping motion at the same time im strumming.
      But practice both left and right hand muting. You can probably get by doing just one for this song but sound better with both.

      @@the_original_Bilb_Ono except it isn't just that simple is it. There's open strings in the chords so relaxing your fretting hand won't mute all the strings no matter how hard you try to fEeL tHe RhYtHm

    • @the_original_Bilb_Ono
      @the_original_Bilb_Ono 3 роки тому

      @@owenmckee4053 i think its even more simple than that. I feel like you are making it more complicated than it needs to be. You just mute the strings. I mean its always came naturally to me. Playing the guitar properly takes awhile, but muting of all kinds os something which i dont need to think about. Idk, im just trying to help the dude. My advice is just do it, dont think too much about it. Dont like my advice? Then fuck it..

    • @the_original_Bilb_Ono
      @the_original_Bilb_Ono 3 роки тому +1

      @@owenmckee4053 also you must have not actually read my comment. I talked about in my 2nd comment how to mute open strings with your right hand (strumming hand) and if you are using a barre chord (most chords) then yes, just relaxing your hand works most of the time.. There is multiple types of muting. In my opinion- ALL is something which should not be over thought about and just feel the music and do it. Its like learning to swim by jumping head first in the deep end. Just do it.

    If anyone is visiting this right now; I found the tuning or at least I think I found the tuning of the acoustic version. I did Drop D but I made all the notes a little more than a few cents sharp. That's as close as I've come to sounding like the Plush acoustic version on Spotify. Now the mtv version is a whole different ball park but it is one of my favorites.

    Just wanted to say thanks Marty. A friend inspired me to get an accoustic after he had been playing it religiously for 2 years. He sounded amazing so i wanted to learn. I did have a little previous electric guitar experience but mostly metallica riffs and intros. He told me to check you out and i started at your intro chord lessons. I took your advice and played everyday even if it were just 5 minutes because my fingertips were sore. 5 months later and im really diggin it,many thanks to you and your lessons. Plush is next on my list and was happy to learn you taught this one. Look forward to learnin through your guidance. Cheers.

I learned my first blues lick from your videos like ten years ago and I always, ALWAYS recommend you to anyone who's wanting to learn. You've taught half the nation my friend. I can't thank you enough
