This song is incredible for learning how to sing and play at the same time, never makes you stop a word during a chord and never makes you say a word without a chord!
Marty is the best guitar teacher for beginner/intermediate players. I love him so much and he’s covered just about every song I’ve need a tutorial on. He’s so clear in how he describes what you need to do. Truly the best!
Fr he makes learning the song seem so easy and how he says or sings the fret numbers you have to switch to while doing it makes it just that bit easier
Even when I don't feel like learning the song right away or ever I still click and give Marty a view to listen to the intro lol then another view when I come back to learn 👍
One day you'll laugh at how you thought certain songs was difficult and they really aren't. This song is a good example. It's not hard at all. He'll, I see your comment is 10 months old. If you've stuck with it and pushed yourself the last 10 months then you should already find this song extremely easy.
@@fivestartoaster2806 yep, I can tell you some things that will happen next (you probably got a while before you really notice this). Eventually you will hit a "wall" where you're pretty dang decent and maybe you've really crammed so much music theory into your brain that you know intuitively (i hope you do take theory seriously, dont listen to people that say its not important. It is.) But getting just SLIGHTLY better takes more effort than it did to get A LOT better at the start! It's diminishing returns. Its complicated what you should do from there because this is where things need to be specific to your style and skill level and what you're really trying to play and express. This point is when I suggest ear training, I suggest trying to write your own songs, and a few other things but it's hard to say without knowing where exactly you are on your journey. Will.i.maybe I’m playing it standard but used amazing slow downer app to raise the backing track a semi tone. Then later I’ll detune the guitar. It’s too much hassle keep destining the guitar
Don’t play it a fret down as you’ll miss the open chords… just play in standard tuning that is what my band is doing. If you want to play along with the recording it’s better to down tune your guitar even though it’s a bit of a pain… thanks, Col (51) and playing in a rock covers band…

A friend runs what he calls Guitaraoke Nights (basically he takes over a room in a local pub, brings some instruments people can pick up and play, and he runs backing tracks off a laptop for them to play along to and a screen for them to read lyrics and chord changes off) With next to no preparation I chose Basket Case and while I think I did okay I really wished I'd watched the whole of this lesson first
I have been playing for a few years now. Just for the fun of it! A few years ago I found this post, learned the song and loved it. Just now I start to understand the diversity and variation-option you are explaining. Thanks
