I think you'll get a kick out of this: There is actually an answer to, "Why is a raven like a writing desk?" "Because it can produce a few notes, however flat; and it's NEVAR with the wrong end in front."
I actually like this adaptation to Alice in Wonderland. Not as much as the animated classic from 1951, but it’s pretty good for what it is. And yes, Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter is great!
I was obsessed with this when it came out, it coincided with me beginning middle school and I adored the hatter and the cat, I drew the cat everywhere, great times
For me, it was hard to appreciate this version of the Cat. The reason is silly because in the french version of the animated movie (the one I grew up with) the Cat is voiced by the boss of the Disney french voice act
I loved the original take on this story and how it drew a lot from the source material but really became its own thing, highly underrated in my opinion, loved the reaction. Have some algorithm love, keep doing what you're doing!
tim burton - johnny depp - helena bonham carter is such a powerful trio, i love every movie they made together (and fun fact: johnny is the godfather to their child!). personally i adore this version of alice in wonderland and the cast is absolutely brilliant! loved your reaction as always🤍
If i was in Alice`s situation and if i ended up in wonderland, i would never want to leave wonderland by going back to the real world. I would want to say in wonderland forever.
but, to me, wonderland is a choice, you can live to stay in a world of imaginary or the real word, where you can make a difference, but it all indicates to you and your choice, there is no right or wrong which you choose.
There are a lot of Harry Potter actors in this film from Madame Maxine as Alice’s aunt, Wormtail- the hound dog, Umbridge was one of the flowers, Snape is easy to pick up because Alan Rickman’s voice you can hear from a mile away, Bellatrix, and Grindelwald. At the ending I was hoping someone in the crowd would’ve noticed the claw marks on her upper arm, the arm is even still red.
This is another movie I seen with my old neighbors when it came out on TV in Cinema and I had a fun time with this movie. It had hate on it apparently which I was surprised. But I really love it! The Jabberwocky is voiced by Christopher Lee.
Why is a raven like a writing desk? The author, Lewis Carroll, answered the riddle in an updated preface to the book. He said that a raven is like a writing desk “Because it can produce a few notes, tho they are very flat; and it is never put with the wrong end in front!” This means that both ravens and desks produce notes.
When this first came out, I didn’t really give it any attention. Now it’s one of my favourite films of all time. The music’s amazing, the visuals are amazing, the story is very exciting and the atmosphere is amazing!
This movie is less an adaptation, or more a sequel. It doesn't replace or change much if anything from the original story, it expants it. Alice RETURNS to Wonderland, where as in the original we saw her first trip (which aparantly landed her in therapy, if some of her lines and the mantra she repeats are anything to go by!). I always really like the story concept of Alice returning to wonderland after having spend some time away from it ^^
Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are Tim Burton's favorite actors 😉 I don't know if you noticed it but the lines the Mad Hatter says when he travels with little Alice, is the Jaberwocky poem of Lewis Caroll, the author of the original " Alice in Wonderland " what is also what the Cheshire Cat sings in the animated movie. If you want to know why the Red Queen's head is that big, you have to watch the sequel " Alice Through the Looking Glass ". The answer is in it.
Not only was Johhnny Depp perfect for the Hatter, but Helena Bonham Carter was also brilliant as the Red Queen. This is 1 of the greatest movies Tim Burton ever made
Thanks for reacting to this! I remember watching this movie 5 years ago (I was binge-watching Tim Burton and Johnny Depp movies) and I really liked it! I was actually surprised that Alan Rickman is in this. When I heard Absolem's voice, I lost my shit
17:46 that part made me hate Stayne more than ever. What makes it worse is that there are people like that in real life too... they try to sexually abuse people, but then when the victims try to get away or defend themselves, the accuser will then blame the victim. It's just messed up 😔
I think this would be like a remake of the original material and a sequel to the original story itself. For the fact that the Red Queen and the White Queen appear as separate characters in the sequel book, Alice Through the Looking Glass. They took the Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts and combined her into Irracubeth the Red Queen. I am so glad that you caught on early about the trope of the fantasy characters being identical to the reality characters; it reminded me of Judy Garland’s The Wizard of Oz. I really hope you check out it’s sequel Alice Through the Looking Glass; it answers some of the questions in regards of certain characters and also shows Alice to confront other obstacles in her life. In a way, this was very similar to Robin Williams’ Hook. There are 2 films I’d like to recommend: a two-part miniseries called Dorothy and the Witches of Oz. It’s very similar to this film and Hook but just with the stories of Oz. The other is a film called Come Away which retells the origin of Alice and Peter Pan as siblings. ♥️♦️♣️♠️🐇🦋🎩👑🐱🐭🐰
I like this movie, but as a separate work. Something like a mixture of Heart no Kuni no Alice and Corpse Bride. And yes, it seems to me, or is the Hatter like an unused concept for Sweeney Todd?
From what I understand, the old Disney animation was a combination of Alice in Wonder and Through the Looking Glass and they merged the characters of the Red Queen and Queen of Hearts together. Still a good movie. This seems more of a continuation of the original stories. And I enjoy this as well. Oh, and apparently the question, “Why is a raven like a writing desk?” never had an answer, but the author was questioned enough until they made one up, which in my opinion lessens the joke of a question without an answer, but it’s all good.
Hi Cody I love Wonderland it's my favorite movie the whole wide world I'm glad you are watching it I'm really excited I really like your videos I hope this is really making you happy and I hope I got your name right and I really really love Wonderland it's make me happy and give me like I'm like Alice Hurry Up This video I hope this is what I'm making you happy
Idk if anyone has given much context to the movie, but it is indeed a sequel to the original books rather than the 1951 Disney movie. The 1951 Disney movie is really _loosely_ based on the the books. They smushed together the two books (Alice in Wonderland and Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass) and made it into the 1951 movie. I would say the modern version is based off more of the books rather than the original, which is what really confuses people as not everyone has read the books. The modern movies makes quite a few references to the poems of Lewis Caroll's work. If you're interested in the context of the book however you can buy the book fairly cheap or look at some breakdowns of the book on YT. NOTE: The Alice in Wonderland books are meant for children and have absolutely no congruent storytelling. Its supposed to be weird, nonsensical, and bizzare. It has slight jabs at Lewis Caroll's life, but for the most part is crazy. And no, drugs were not apart of the making of the book that's just things people theorized throughout the years.
I think more people would enjoy this film if they recognized it as the sequel to the 1951 animated movie that it is instead of a retelling of the original story, I mean it does literally spell out 2/3 into the movie that its years after the original and that the original did happen.
I think it’s so funny that so many people are shocked by Tim Burton’s version of the story… Because in Lewis Carroll’s original novel, it’s literally a world of madness. It’s the perfect story for Tim Burton.
For some clarification; this really isn't an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, this is Alice Through the Looking Glass. In the second book; Alice must face off against the Jabberwocky. So in a sense; this is a continuation of the Original Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland. As for Tim Burton's Alice Through the Looking Glass; that's a continuation of this story he created. It will give you more text and background into why the fraud between the Queens happened, and backstory on the Hatter.
In all honesty, it has been a long time since I've read these books, but I never liked the animated version, not even as a child. These movies on the other hand are a completely different case. I find them really underrated, rewatch them occasionally and think they belong to my favorite live action-movies. Johnny as a Hatter is fantastic, indeed. I don't know if someone has mentioned it already, but he improvised the "I don't like it in here, it's too crowded"-line. It was nice to see you reacting to this. Please, do the same with a sequel as well.
Tim Burton's use of dark /whimsy has always been his calling card 🃏💙BTW The original story of Alice in wonderland was better depicted in this version.👉 Many more characters and elements from the story are included 👉 fact they included her thinking it as a dream, and that part in the beginning with her father asking about the "nightmare " reminds about the 💡theories about the original authors take on dreams. Some say Wonderland could be a world created by dreams. But that is just one of many theories.
Still my favorite live action disney movie and probably wont ever be topped imo. Ummm if you dont except Tim Burton movies to be Dark then idk what to tell ya and yes this is technically Return to Wonderland

You are one of the few reactors who notice or mention the change in the hatter's eyes and makeup when angry! Thank you so much for including it

The scene where Absalom was flying away that was a tribute to Alan Rickman.
