    In Dark Souls you were the Toucher of Things. In Bloodborne you were the Viewer of Things Unseen. In Sekiro you're The Wolf. That alone speaks to how you feel like a person in this.

    You do not accumulate Dragonrot by ressurecting, only by straight up dying. The lore explains this, apparantly if you try to ressurect without having enough power to do so (the orbs over your hp bar), it draws that lifeforce from the NPC's instead.

  • @jefferylittleton1005

    This is the best "review" I've seen so far. You got a couple of things wrong(Dragon Rot is related to "hard" deaths, not resurrections") but you get the fact that it isn't a Souls game. It's a new IP that plays differently. Everyone else is complaining that it isn't Souls-y enough.

  • @drbeeant
    @drbeeant 5 років тому +2

    Note that resurrection doesn't spread Dragonrot, dying 'for real' does. They explain this as your resurrections being Sekiro's own resurrective power. Him dying and reviving at an idol draws from the resurrective power of the NPCs, making them lose life force and grow ill.

    It's not just the characters but the world itself that looks like ancient oriental art. Landscapes in old eastern paintings always used empty space as a purposeful element, and when you stand on a rooftop at Ashina Castle and examine the land around you, you can see that same peaceful, open emptiness that characterized so many old paintings. And sure, this is how distant landscapes have always looked in Soulsborne, but here it just feels so much more... right.

    feeling of overcoming the odds is amplified, the speed of encounters is nuts so when you learn that attack /deflect pattern it feels like a deathly dance

    I agree that Sekiro is just amazing. Totally agree that it feels like dark souls a lot and not at all at the same time. Although when I beat the chained ogre I didn’t feel very good about it. I felt like I had cheesed him. I didn’t have the fire for him but I stealthed him once then for the second I just stayed far from most of the time and chipped away. Idk I was disappointed in myself lol. Then I went on to get slaughtered by the headless later on who knows what that’s all about

    The part i love the most about the game is the ambient music. So if your in an open area there’s a calm music going on but say you enter a cave it drops dead. Like no sound of music whatsoever and then you encounter the headless enemies bam spooky ass music starts creeping in. Reminds me of bloodborne so much. Fuckin absolutely love it

    I’ll be honest chained ogre wasn’t as bad as I thought it would. Just avoid his grab attacks and punish his dive kick and shoulder slam. No fire needed guaranteed. Also lure him to the gate by the thief merchant and hide then ambush him so you don’t have to take forever whittling his health down.

      I found that the fire was actually more of a hindrance because it made me greedy and overly aggressive. I beat him without fire as well.

    I'm really loving it. I was having a hard time in the beginning because I kept trying to play it like Dark Souls (and devil may cry 5, because that's what I've been playing just prior) but after I beat the chained ogre it finally clicked.

    You did way better on that first Genichiro fight than I did. Pretty sure I was wondering what the fuck just happened before I could even pull off a single attack.

    Is everyone's overall opinion of Sekiro Shadows Die Twice positive? It's hands down the hardest out of all other FromSoftware games and I love it. In my opinion, its a great game.

      I love the game my only gripe is when a certain boss hits a certain phase he hits you with attacks that you've literally never seen before and it can be a pain but the game is refreshing I haven'y died 10 on a boss when I knew how to beat him in a very long time

    I honestly love the game and thematically, it's up there with Bloodborne. However, certain things aren't quite living up to my expectations. The combat is quite cool and innovative, but it feels quite clunky at times. When I heard that they were teaming up with Activision, I expected a game that was gonna be quite a bit more polished due to the higher budget. But it seems they spend most of that on the visuals, because everything else has serious hiccups. The framerate dips into the 40s during action-packed moments on the One X, the camera seems to have a hard time following some targets as they go above and behind the character, especially a certain old lady and to top it all off, the death blows don't always seem to register properly. Even if I'm pressing the attack button when the targeting indicator is red, sometimes it does a normal attack. I don't mean to shit on the game, but certain things could be improved.

    No negative input? Why?
    It baffles me that after all the years with developing the hitboxes to be pixel perfect they decided to throw that in the trash in Sekiro..
    Especially at the Ogre you get teleported into the grab so often. Like your chracter is a full lenght away but he still grabbed you.
    Same with enemies with lances. In all the hours in Darksouls 3 I knew and saw exactly why I got hit, but in Sekiro it sometimes feels random..
    Also sad to see that they didn't try to improve the camera for bigger enemies. When you fight the first boss and stand to close as you attack you just see the horse but not his weapon anymore..
    The lack of i-frames punishes player that try to dodge more than parry wich I think isn't the right approach to a game where you can decide your own playstyle. I don't need as many i-frames as in Ds3 but at least any would be good so dodeging at the right moment feels rewarding instead of punishing.
    I am 7 hours in but don't feel hyped like in the Souls-games
    Not becaue it is different but because it feels unpolished in some detailed ways.

    • @nelsonsanchez9055
      @nelsonsanchez9055 5 років тому +3

      Git gud
      JK, yeah hitboxes can be deceiving due to the much faster combat. For the most part try blocking regular enemy attacks and dodge/jump unlockables. Forget about I-frames while playing this game.
