RadiantBlue3 Van Helsing wasn't absolutely terrible imo, well....I haven't watched in so long and I liked it at the time. I'll have to rewatch it. But if anything, I don't want the franchise to be handed to Netflix. Have you heard about what they did to Death Note? Yea, no thanks. Netflix is also currently making a Witcher series, and I'm scared they'll mess it up. Only time will tell.

It could work as multiple 1 hour animated movies with multiple perspectives.
    1) Laurence. We see him, Master Willem and the Byrgenwerth scholars discover the Phtumerian tombs and the old blood. He and Willem part ways and he creates the Healing Church.
    2) Gherman. We see through him Laurence’s rise to power, the Healing Church taking over Yharnam. Meanwhile we get him and Maria’s relationship, the Hunter’s Workshop discreetly killing off beasts, right up until the he becomes trapped in the Hunter’s Dream by the Moon Presence.
    3) Ludwig. After the Scourge of the Beast becomes public knowledge, we follow him as a hero of the people who leads the hunt against the beasts. We can see how Laurence begins losing control of the city. Ending with the burning of Old Yharnam and a cameo by the Good Hunter at the end, holding a letter of invitation to Cainhurst Castle.
    4) Maria. We follow her story parallel to Gherman’s, showing some backstory of her growing up as a Vileblood in Cainhurst. We see her go to the Fishing Hamlet, where they discover the body of Kos, the Old Hunters slaughter the people of the Hamlet, she drops her Rakuyo down the well. The hunters become cursed by Kos and trapped in the Hunter’s Nightmare. The ending being a scene with Gherman creating the Doll in her image, then a cut to the Good Hunter dying in Iosefka’s Clinic on the night of the Hunt. Waking up in the Dream.
    5) Micolash. We follow him as he further uncovers the secrets of the Great Ones, we get a deeper look into the Chalice Dungeons and Queen Yharnam, his relationship with the Church, Willem’s possible creation of Rom as a protector of the secrets and finally the communion of the School of Mensis with Mergo. End with the Good Hunter being sent on his quest from the Dream after talking with Gherman and the Doll.
    6) The Good Hunter. Finally we arrive at the story of the game. I would focus his story on the most important parts of the game, he starts with the Gascoigne fight, he goes to Old Yharnam, Cathedral Ward (fights Amelia), Hemwick, Cainhurst (fights Logarius and meets Annalise for exposition dump on the Vilebloods), Byrgenwerth (meets Willem for exposition dump on the Great Ones and the Old Blood and needing eyes n shit, fights Rom), Nightmare of Mensis (fights Micolash who does an exposition dump on the umbilical cords before dying, fight Mergo’s Wet Nurse), finally return to the Dream after consuming the umbilical cords, fight Gherman, fight Moon Presence and become an infant Great One.
By no means is this a perfect draft, but the foundation for multiple character driven narratives is there and has potential to make for great short films. The Old Hunter’s DLC could be an after story of another hunter that maybe dies after defeating Orphan and ending the Nightmare right before the Good Hunter arrives in Yharnam. IDK i’m just rambling by this point. Good vid tho.

      Underrated comment

    • @ThePalebloodHunter
      @ThePalebloodHunter Рік тому +1

I know that the comment is from 4 years ago, but I think that The Hunter should give him an identity, a past to justify why he has come in search of the miraculous blood, personality and also a character development such as at the beginning of the story we see that he is very weak but that during the course of the story he becomes stronger and stronger to the point of rivaling The Great Ones and against the best Hunters of the Church such as Gehrman and Maria, as for his journey throughout Yarhnam I am ok, but it should also appear in the Nightmare of the Hunter, so that I can perfectly understand everything that happened with all the Old Hunters and with Yarhnam, so i could give him more reasons to want to free Gehrman fron the dream and I would also like a confrontation of The Good Hunter against Ludwig, and ESPECIALLY with Lady Maria, the combat scene should be perfectly carried, we could even see one of the best fights in the entire series, the same goes for Gehrman. The story of The Good Hunter could be saved for a second season. Personally, I would prefer the series to be animated in CGI, in the style of Resident evil infinite darkness or Netflix's Castlevania Style animation would also be a great option, it would be cool for its horror theme. And that it is directed by a good director (with the accompaniment of Miyazaki obviously).

@@ThePalebloodHunterI like the idea of each episode being centered in a certain group like the Choir or Mensis, as well as certain characters, see their story and at the end of each episode end with the silent Good Hunter coming up to the remnants of what ever the episode was about, slowly hinting out the event of the game.

I'd think that it'd be best for BB to be adapted into an anime rather than anything else. Seems like it'd be ludicrously expensive to do all the cgi, set design etc with live action. And I for one would love to see a video on your script.

A movie about Maria and Gehrman with the original hunter workshop would probably be pretty badass as an action-horror film, a movie about Master Eyeba- I mean William and Lawrence with their experiments and failure would be a legit horror film if told from the right perspective, and a movie about one of the hunters that came before the good hunter/last hunter would be pretty much a Rogue One situation. Please make it happen and make it good.

As a couple people in the comments have already said, an anime-like interpretation could suit the game really well. I recently saw the castlevania Netflix original and I think a similar gritty environment could be created for this game. Also the animated art style would suit the game really well to add all the details of the creatures we encounter in our playthroughs.

A plot format for a show that I'd personally be interested in would be one where the story of the main character aka. the hunter and the backstory of the world and the characters surrounding him are told in an overlapping fashion. You could have the hunter with his beast-killing duty trying to make his way through a dead world, overcoming its challenges, interacting with its characters and maybe developing his own personal story along the way, and then you could cut back to the world's past, to how it looked like before it died off and how it became the way it is in the present. You could tell a different part of the story every episode, maybe about the places that the hunter is currently visiting or the beasts he is hunting, giving some context to his actions. You could even make it look like the hunter is finding out about the backstory of the world alongside you. The balance of past story and present story could also shift from episode to episode, some dedicated almost entirely to a present-time questline and some dedicated more to past events. This would imo present you with the most complete package of the bloodborne world.

How about this: you have character driven one offs within the Bloodborne universe. For example: “Eileen” would be about Eileen and her going on a hunt to go kill a hunter. It could be a really interesting actiony horror film that could focus more on everyone’s favorite crow as a character, what she does and why she does it.

I think it would be a groundbreaking movie that would slap the audience right in faces with cosmic horror, idea of human misery, unspeakable dread and very elegant aesthetics.
Imagine Cleric beast theme starting to play in a scene of catharsys where the protagonist (and audience) realises the eldritch truth behind the real world. And cleric beast cries.
    Goosebumps.
It would be very dark, very serious movie.

    • @mr.animation3630
      @mr.animation3630 2 роки тому +1

The Cleric Beast Theme would make audiences dread like crazy.
Imagine a scene where the protagonist (and audience) come across THE Cleric Beast as it screeches in agony as it comes toward the protagonist, as The Cleric Beasts theme booms in the background, making making fight VERY intense and Horrifying. The Beast swinging at our hero, hearing our hero grunt and yell in fear / anger as he hacks and slashes the Beast in an all brutal, bloody, and horrifying fight to the death.
I can imagine the Beast screeching during the WHOLE fight, and feeling scared as if I was there fighting the Beast, audiences could as well cry in fear for the Hero and everytime the hero got hit or CLOSE to being killed, I could hear the audience screaming for him.
Bloodborne in Live-Action would be Horrifying, Badass, dreadful and dark, and gory af.
If put in the right hands, this could be THE most accurate game adaptation of ANY game ever known to man.

  • @PANCAKEMINEZZ

Not a movie, but an anime (or animation at the very least) I think. I mean, so much of the game just feels like it was ripped straight out of one (excluding Berserk references). The best example is the Gerhman fight. I mean come on you have everything you'd want in an anime fight there: student fighting the old master, an open gorgeous field filled with flowers and graves, in a dream, by the full moon!
Plus, the dodge mechanic already seems very reminiscent of how most anime characters fight in say shonen, with the character just kind if tossing themselves to the side rather than blocking or rolling. The. You have the outrageous (albeit at least semi-practical) weapons in the trick weapons, which would translate FAR better into an animated setting than a live action one. I can just see an actor trying to swing the Kirkhammer and it being utterly boring. But if it were animated, then you get that almost cartoonish moveset of it where the user kind of hops up off the ground when it's smashed down that wouldn't look natural in live action.
Plus, with an anime you wouldn't have the issue of the enemies/bosses/characters suffering from bad translation of art. In live-action,without fail, there's always something that looks off or different, whether due to the idiot director taking artistic license (when no one asked them to) and or the fact it's live-action the practical effects (or even cgi) won't let what was int the game be adapted properly. On top of that, a Bloodborne movie would take A LOT of cgi to make it happen, and would end up being extremely expensive. So I'd think it should do what Netflix did with Catlevania (and seriously, look how well that show was received!)

I think it could work as a movie if it focused on the horror and isolated the story into just the night of the hunt. The cinematic shows a hunter but doesn’t focus on his perspective and I think a movie could work this way too. Create a new character or a few new characters for the film that aren’t hunters but maybe just a family trying to flee the city during the hunt? It wouldn’t satisfy the games core fan base but I think only a TV show could do that. But a movie with its short runtime could definitely capture the horror, the aesthetic and the mood of the game if it avoided trying to cram in as much lore as possible and just played out as an isolated story.

Here's my plot synopsis/take on it.
    Bloodborne, an HBO miniseries
    directed by Christopher Nolan
written by Jonathan Nolan and Christopher Nolan
Jack is a military captain sent by his government to the city of Yarnham after His Majesty lost contact with the embassy about a month ago. Jack's mission is to locate the head of the embassy, a man named Demetri, and return back to his country with an explanation to what happened, and if any security-secrets can be learned. When Jack arrives during midday his carriage is attacked by a seemingly crazy mob of yarnhamites and he escapes away in a nearby clinic. It is there that he is captured by an eyeless doctor who explains that for outsiders to be allowed passage in yarnham they need an injection of yarnham blood. Jack faints during the (involuntary) procedure and when he wakes up, straps undone, he exits the clinic and it is already nearing sunset.
He decides to abandon his mission and find a way back to his carriage, when he is again beset by a mob of unfriendly yarnhamites. Just then, he is rescued by a crow-feathered Hunter named Gloria, who agrees that he should leave and tries to get him out of the city gates across the bridge. As they travel, she explains that there is a full moon and tonight is not a night suitable for outsiders. When they get to the bridge, they find it destroyed and they are attacked by a cleric beast. Gloria fights the beast while Jack watches, and although she bests her prey she is mortally wounded. With her last words, she gives Jack a small clamshell mirror, and tells him that while he should still try to leave through an alternate route in the forbidden woods, if he is ever in danger then he should look into the mirror. Jack, now armed with Gloria's pistol and saw-cleaver, makes his way towards Oedon Chapel, which is his first destination before getting to the woods.
When Jack reaches a graveyard, this time fighting beast-fearing villagers along the way that think he is a beast, he is met by another hostile hunter of the church. A man who mistakes Jack for a beast as well. Jack, unfit for the fight, looks into the mirror and sees a reflection of himself inside a garden of white flowers. When he looks around himself, it seems he is suddenly in front of an abandoned workshop--the place that was inside the mirror. There he finds a wordless, lifelike Doll and a man named Gerhman. Gerhman explains that as the holder of the mirror, his task is to hunt beasts. Jack says that he just wants to leave--meaning leave Yarnham and get back home--and Gerhman says to leave all he needs to do is to look into the vanity mirror next to the wardrobe. Jack tries to clarify his question but when he turns around, Gehrman is gone. He looks into the mirror, and see a reflection of himself in an apartment just outside the graveyard, where the church hunter patrols for more "beasts".
Jack faces off against the church hunter, and manages victory by the skin of his teeth despite the hunter transforming into a huge beast himself. Upon closer inspection of the dead body, he finds in the church hunter's pockets a note from Demetri, saying "Get me out of this nightmare." The note appears to be from a place called "Byrgenwyrth". Jack makes his way to Oedon Chapel, unsure if he should complete his mission or not...

If its done right, with oversight from the game creators I think it make a good movie. Also it would need to be released on Halloween and rated R. All the blood and gore gone would give it a PG rating, but it would take the Blood out of Bloodborne.
Although to tell the entire story a tv show would be a better platform, but with all the fluff animes throw into their shows, i feel it wouldn't work right either. If done as a tv show or a movie, the graphics would have to be the same or similar to the game.

Every time I see someone making a case for a Soulsborne movie adaptation all I can think of is something akin to Angel's Egg or Stalker; something with _very few_ words, slow pacing, crushing atmosphere, mainly told through environmental and visual storytelling. Kinda like, well, the games. A huge script would just defeat the philosophy on which the series is built upon. Only problem is that it would be very much unmarketable.

This is beauty of Dark Souls, Bloodborne. These game are incredibely rich on details. You can make more than one film about every one of them; characters, storys, time periods, background. And all of this is hidden in the game, served by small portions. You play trought the game, you finish it and you think about this all.
These games are Eldorado for people with fantasy. But i dont think that someone is capable make film so good, how they deserve it. Maybe serial like the Castlevanie would worked.

Bloodborne appeals to a niche audience. Movies and TV shows don't really get made for niche audiences anymore. If it did happen, it would be watered down into bloody action without the careful atmosphere and theme exploration. As an anime adaptation it could be possible. Anime tends to be more welcoming for niches. Although, that's becoming less and less likely all the time. Most anime is literal trash, but Netflix's new Castlevania anime does open up some good possibilities in the future.

@Strats for the Win That really depends on who gets a hold of the animating rights. If the people who did Castlevania or Hellsing got a hold of it, I'd be hopeful for the show. If it was by anyone else, probably not so. You have to look at art styles as much as the game. Hellsing would be a good one, Castlevania a close second, in terms of art-style.

BB should be a TV series. This game have an excellent back story. The series should starts from The Sins of the Forefathers and ended at The Night of the Hunt. How this chaos started and how the NPCs met their fate.
With this, the player character will be excluded. So, not delving much into playing mechanics which a headache to realise. Jumping into nightmares, eating umbilical cords, should be kept in the game.

A mini series ,loyal to its source, helmed by peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro would be amazing. Screen writer would be a tough call because they could either dumb it down to insulting levels or get to avant-garde and fumble the writing. If anything dialogue needs to be sparing if there on the hunt and gradually grow a distant isolated fell, but warmly and timidly mad.

I think Bloodborne would work best as an anthology film like Creepshow or the Tales from the Darkside movie. That would free them up to do different stories in different styles, even approach other directors or studios for ideas they would do best.
For example, a story about a Hunter of Hunters could be shot like a 70s revenge film, or imitate early Disney for one about the messengers. That format would also be best as a conventional film requires an arc, which may not work best with our empty vessel main character or the need to be a little opaque. Miyazaki's approach to storytelling is completely at odds with everybody else spoon-feeding plots which are simultaneously convoluted yet paper thin.

  • @darklord884

I think it could be manageable if the team creating it was doing its job well. Some could say that it works better if most of the details are not mentioned, if we ourselves have to make assumptions and calculations on what happens, but I'd say, if presented the right way, it could work really well, with a slow, tense atmosphere that emphasizes the political tension of the Healing Church, the monstrosities they committed and created, as well as the nightly hunt's merits and its terrible consequences. I agree that a tv series would be much more practical to use here, if for nothing else, then the more time available for explanations of what's what. I am quite interested in this script of yours, though and would like to read or hear about it if possible. I'm curious what you think a pilot episode should be about.

Bro, if Bloodborne was Live-Acrion I would cry. A Live-Action Bloodborne would SMASH the box office and be an instant classic. The Horror, the Dark driven story, the over-the-top Fucking action and gore in the gamete, MINT. I would want a movie set on the main protagonist and his journey into surviving the hunt and going back to the real world and become immortal in the end. And the fight scenes....ooooooh the dreams man.
Imagine The Cleric Beast Theme in the movie! It would make audiences dread like crazy!
Imagine a scene where the protagonist (and audience) come across THE Cleric Beast as it screeches in agony as it comes toward the protagonist, as The Cleric Beasts them booms in the background, making making fight VERY intense and Horrifying.

Has anyone thought of maybe going away from the idea of typical media (movies/tv shows/anime) and thought about making a solid line of Bloodborne comics/graphic novels? I know there are a few dark souls comics (some varying in how trashy they are) but I got to thinking about this after I read a comment below about "movies and tv shows not being made for a very niche audience" and sort of agreed. If we are going with this hypothetical scenario where we were actively trying to get the game adapted into a story outside of it, there would be very few people who would want to make this due to the game not being as well known as some of the other video game movies (games that were popular even outside the realm of just gamers). But a comic could work perfectly. You have different comic book issues (like tv shows with seasons and episodes) and I think a publisher would be more inclined to sell that rather than trying to find a publisher for a move or tv show for Bloodborne.
Plus, with a comic really only one or two people would need to do it. You wouldn't need to find a whole team to work on the project. On top of that, you wouldn't run into the issue of disappointing fans with say minor issues like not getting the correct voice actors for certain characters, or not being able to accurately portray a certain character or place due to live action restraints.

Part of what makes Bloodborne (and Souls games in general) so interesting is that you learn about what's going on bit by bit and I don't think a movie can run long enough to do that and still be reasonable consumed in a single sitting. A TV series would allow it to tell a much larger story in much easier to digest pieces. Also, as much as I like tokusatsu, I think an animated series would more cost effective given the scale and anatomy Bloodborne works with.
As for the story, I think it would work by having the hunt be the main plot and having the history of Yharnam be part of the episode's side plot (Letting use see what the NPC did while we were away), connecting more the the main plot as it gets closer the the end. They might have to have multiple "Player Characters" to allow some interactions when not with NPCs.

  • @alejandrob1248
    @alejandrob1248 5 років тому

For me it could work perfectly fine in a movie but not in a single one, a least 3 movies, the first one about Yharnam, the "sickness", the hunt and the hunters, and at the very end o drop some smalls clues or details to show what this universe is really about without telling the whole truth. Just like we thought the game was just about hunting werewolfs when the game was released

And speaking of comics, the Bloodborne comic book cover page isn’t really that good to look at in my opinion … the art should’ve been done by the artist who did first few volumes of X-Force; the one with Wolverine leading an elite team of killers to do black ops type of work under Cyclops’s orders. I forget the artist’s name, but his drawing style is beautiful, realistic (in a way) and I think it suits Bloodborne very much.

However, as you were describing a TV show set in the world of Bloodborne would be AMAZING. The only negative being that it would remove some of the ambiguity of the story by giving us some more concrete information, but either way I'd still enjoy it. I would like to see a bloodborne tv series that is made up of different self-containted stories with different characters. Think of the different episodes of black mirror that are all different but have an overarching theme. The atmosphere of the horror in bloodborne wouldn't really work in a tv form in my opinion. I think that bloodborne being a game is one of the things that made it's horror so effective. You as the player gradually discover what is actually going on and I don't really think that would work as a movie or series.
