This is great. Just what I looked for. And love the length of the video, not conforming to modern yt-standars of just around 20 min for maximum monetezation or whatever.
My suggestion for the name of the industrial area is: Black Rock Wharf. I imagine that the name came about from the coal (black rocks) being unloaded from the cargo ships.
Vanilla assets + mods is probably my most favorite style of playing. It gives you the freedom of all the things possible with mods but without the lag you'll get by playing with thousands of workshop assets lol
Florida has some interesting power cooperatives that have localized electric providers. Perhaps Crystal Reef broke away from the regional utility provided (Florida Power & Light), and formed the Crystal Coast Cooperative. The Cooperative named the plant district Indian Harbor after the river that feeds it - the Indian River. Florida has long had dueling historical importance placed on both the original native tribes that inhabited the peninsula, and Spanish names leftover from the conquistadors who traveled through and colonized the state. I would propose naming the central island and it's city San Leon, as a play on the explorer Ponce de Leon. Love to see you working on a Floridian project!
It's so satisfying to see someone who fully understands how the mods work, and how to use them to enhance these type of super detailed builds. This was entertaining, educational and inspiring! Just wonderful!
Hahaha, I'm Mike, and I work in the warehouse you showed by the quayside. During breaks I usually go to the pier with the demolished car by it, with two of my coworkers, one Canadian and one Polish (it wasn't me who put a ghost pepper in your lunch the other day, if you're reading this mate, I swear haha). They always go on about how the pier reminds them of their homelands, which I just find mind-boggling, as I was raised in Florida, and I always thought that pier was the most American thing ever LOL I don't know how to apply or lobby for things to be named (I'm paid to operate a forklift, not study the city council processes), but just in case you see it, I'd love it if you named the thing the 'World Pier'. Cheers mate, thanks for creating a job for us :)
6:43 My suggestion for the Noname district: Revere Beach, named by a James F. Adams, a rich old Bostonian who moved down to Florida in the early 1900s for his health. He built the area and named it for Revere Massachusetts, the Boston area town he grew up in and its strand, Revere Beach, which in the 19th and early 20th Centuries was a local seaside attraction, and of course for Paul Revere.
the industrial building with the rail would look good turned around with multiple rails entering through the open side. This is a cool build non the less and im stoked to see it grow!
An idea for your city name ; Cape Kirsty (Founded 1887). Shortly after the city was established, the wife of the local weighty dissapeared, never to be seen again... Out of love and grief, he built a cross to her. "To my beloved Kirsty Woodward, 1859-1888". New settlers then began to name the place Cape Kirsty. This lill' story could give you the opportunity to build a seaside neighbourhood, ot an historical center with a park and a monument to Kirsty Woodward. P.S : It's great to see you work with vanilla. Hope you'll have as much fun as us watching you !
Hey man. I have just started watching you yesterday, but I can already tell that building in city skyilines 1 is really your thing! I want to say that I hope you get even better but that just doesnt feel possible to me since I think that you have already reached god tier. I wish you good luck with the future of your channel.
I've been wanting to do a vanilla+ style playthrough for a while, but can never motivate myself to get started. Maybe watching this will be the motivation I need :D
I like the name Corona for this map. It means crown in Spanish, so it could be a good name for the crown jewel of the map, whichever city that may be. It's also a word that most English speakers already know.
I rarely enjoy vanilla builds but yours are always a joy to watch, so I'm all here for it! Even if I miss the usual Coniferia episode on a Sunday. As for the city name, what about Crosstown? A tribute to a Jimi Hendrix song and first thing that popped into my head after seeing the roads shaped like a cross, lol.😅
As long as detailing in vanilla goes, I'd say anything goes. Cause it takes a little of observers' own imagination to believe that what they see is what the author tries to present, so with the cargo train stuff on the rails it works for me, cause I totally see the effort of making it look believable with what you have and that what makes it good!
For the industry district name i would think of it as one big company that historically sponsored the growth of its nearby town/city and was on the river for a long time and developed into this water treatment, power plant center. Train tracks as well as docks are used for coal shipments and goods deliveries. Not gonna go too much into lore writing here but just gonna throw in a company name: "Carbon/Life industries"
happy to catch this at when its at this stage, excited to see where its going. also the format with the talking segments is great keep doing it love to hear how you do detail work
I'm not sure if the idea would be to your liking, but here it is: For the Industrial area, it's name could colloquially be Salty Produce, with it's original (and oficial) name being Richard Bayes Industrial Complex, after the County Counselor who advocated for the region to be transformed into an industrial site. Since there were groups pressuring it to be kept as a natural reserve, Bayes helped the municipal government to find a suitable land almost twice as big, a couple kilometers to the south of it, where corals were abundant and there was a small mangrove nearby, to be made into a natural reserve in its stead. That reserve was later made into a big park, the current post card of the city. Bayes' help was so important for the development of the town that not only the district got his name, but also one of the main arterial connections of the city, leading directly to the political district: Counselor Bayes Boulevard.
The city of Saint Christina was founded in 1597 by Spanish missionaries to convert the local Ais tribe of La Florida to Christianity. The city was nothing of note, but the reef, however, was al spectacular that it captured the attention of the missionaries, naming it the “Arrecife de Cristal,” after the settlement they had built. Today the Ais Industrial Park sits on what used to be the native settlement in the area and the entire county has taken the name of the reef adjacent to it.
Really nice start to a new series. With the industrial space near the Water and Power section, I'm pretty sure they added a Warehouse with a train connection with the Industry DLC, the actual gameplay is a bit funky but it should help sell the visual interconnection. Also in a in game warehouse for storing coal would work too, I can't remember if you can store coal outdoors but the small one should help bring in traffic without worrying about filling jobs. I'm not sure if it's in the pack or you enjoy using it, but I find Procedural Objects another powerful way to customize Vanilla assets, especially for splicing into other buildings and increasing the footprint.
Thanks a lot Colbacon - and thanks a ton for the cool feedback! I am still a little undecided on whether I want to use PO and IMT actively as that is really gonna push some things to a "non-vanilla look" - I guess it's a bit of a balance.
As far as a city name goes, maybe something like Dusk Isles. The game is in it's Twilight weeks before City Skylines 2 comes out. Dusk referring to this one of your last if not the last City Skylines maps that you take on before CS2 comes out.
I think it should be called hallowing brights. Backstory: when the original town was founded. Thier was a story that if you went on the bay early in the morning whilst it was foggy you could see lights that looked to be coming from the ship. Hallow means to honor something or someone as holy. So when they came to name the town it was suggested to honor the ship. Hollowing comeing from honoring the ship and the ones that passed. And brights from the lights of the ship.
Around the 40 minutes mark when you started working on the train tracks, I was thinking "This cannot be a good idea". But I decided to wait and see and at the end when the huge building structure was placed and it became a train dry-dock, I was impressed. And the container train car works.
I think you should give your access to the city center more space. It feels as if the connections to the highway are really pressed in there. I would expect a city to have planned that differently. Maybe it would also make sense to connect only one of the two highways at that spot?
Great build as always & I like that you mix vanilla with crucial mods! 👌🏻😊 I think you should add the cargo station in this area as well because it will be helpful with distribution of goods in the future ☺️
At 1:06:05 when you are selecting your roads, whats that menu popup you use to select the trees for the road? Great vid - looking forward to seeing how this develops, might try and play along. :)
Check out the roof vegetation props, they're terrific for detailing and filling in green spaces. I play like this as well, but with a few more mods. One that's useful as well is one that gives you props of all the vehicles in the game which helps fill in those industrial areas with parked vehicles. Using BOB on the parking lots to remove the hedges also makes those parking lots more versatile. Looking forward to what you make :)
Hi Joshua, thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it! And I should go grab that mod - which specific one do you recommend for turning vehicles into props? Because I found one some time back that was a bit issue-prone unfortunately. And thanks a ton for 5 years of subscription, awesome! 😊
Some names I can suggest are Meteoria since the mid island looks like a meteoroid hit it. And the starting town can be Metegate as a entry to the Meteoria City. Also Gramchester, Idoport (if you make an port area), Avok (a shady nightlife, dystopic, tourists trap city)
I'm a freak for military bases in city skylines, but you should have a airbase island 👀, name it Mees Riemersma Air Base home of the 5th Tactical Fighter Squadron, equipped with F-16s and P-3 Orions for maritime patrolling in the area.
How about making the entrance to the first city a SPUI (like the interchange between I4 and Florida route 436). I know SPUI are difficult to make in vanilla but you can get an approximation by breaking the highway. In the gap created put the local road with a bidirectional 4 road intersecting it (make sure the 4 lane that intersects the local road runs where the highway did). Connect on and off ramps from the ends of the highway to the ends of the 4 lane road where the highway used to run. Bridge the main portion of the highway over the intersection or put it in a tunnel underneath. And that’s how to make a functional equivalent of a SPUI in vanilla.
Thank you for the suggestion David, that could be a good idea! The main limitation to creating nice interchanges isn't so much the vanilla assets, since the process of creating a SPUI is mostly carried by mods (at least I assume as much). The main limitation is probably my interchange-creating-skills :'-D
Realistic Population is the bomb! There is a better balance between population and commercial/industrial so you don't end up with massive industrial and commercial centers. And you can tweak the settings to suit your needs.
I love the mod! Although it will also pose quite a challenging seeing as I expect us to build lots and lots of sprawl, and with just 1 household pr. single-family unit, getting the population up is tough with sprawl! On the flip side, our dense condo/apartment areas will have a much higher population than their "vanilla simulation" equivalent!
@@Infrastructurist That is right; with the restricted build space you have it is still possible to build a "big" city because of RP. I'm building a big city with RP but it is slow going. I'm always using flat maps, but maybe you're series will inspire me to build on maps that are more challenging.
Hi Robofantastic. I am very glad to hear that as I am always a little anxious about my narration - I do try to improve it all the time! If you check the description you will find a quick guide on how to copy my setup 1:1 😊
I think the main city name needs to exude some sense of rich/luxurious imagery like Sunset Beach or Caramel Coast or White Sands. Or you could pay homage to Florida's Spanish history and name it after a city in Spain - Las Palmas, Marbella, or Salamanca sound nice.
A cool name would be New Palmers, cuz there are lots of palm tress and it’s a beach. Another name would be Palmers Port cuz there’s is probably going to be a port and it has palm trees 😂
Hey man, amazing build and absolutely stunning visuals!!! I've always played cities on a basic pc and I'm thinking of upgrading my setup in preparation for cities 2. Would love to know the specs on your machine that enables such high quality graphics and also what your ideal setup upgrade would be for cities 2, if any. Cheers!!
For the city name something like Aishore would seem to fit, considering the area of crystal reef used to belong to the Ais nation. It also seems to sound somewhat similar to ‘East’, befitting if it’s geographic position Whatever name the city would have though, I am looking forward to the challenge creating a realistic and large city with vanilla assets would bring
McCormick, named after a police officer who claimed burger king put dirt on his burger when it turned out it was just seasoning. Just a very fitting florida man/america headline.
Not for nothing not everyone is into heavily modding a game, not everyone CAN mod games because they are not good at modding and feel left out of a lot. Doing things with a Vanilla game really helps those realize they don't need mods, you CAN play the game as is and still have it enjoyable.
Since the area in your new city resembles a crater impact, I've got some awesome name suggestions for you: 1. Astropolis/Astrotopia 2. Celestinia/Celestia 3. Stellaria/Stellaris 4. Crater Bay 5. Crateria 6. Meteoropolis/Meteoria 7. Lunarcrest/Lunaris 8. Galactown I hope one of these names makes it to your top 3! 😁 Whatever name you choose, I'm sure an amazing series awaits us! Can't wait to see the city thrive and flourish.
So I have the same LUT you mentioned in the comments, but my water isn't that color. Something seems to be off. Is it just the LUT or are there cubemapers or other settings that need to be changed. My water seems to be the same as in the standard Vanilla maps. Just looking at your map, things look more detailed.
Hi Scott - you are on the right track, it is likely the cubemap as that changes the water dramatically. If you have the mod list I use, cycle through them and you'll find the one you like the most. Unfortunately I cant check in-game right now!
@@Infrastructurist After all that, I found the issue. The game started without the custom map theme. I went back and tried to start a new game with this map and the map theme wont load however, it will load on other maps. So I will try it again. Thanks for the response.

Idk if there’s some sort of asset that looks like a forklift but it’d be nice to pepper a couple of those around the yards in this industrial complex.

That's a stunning map
It really is - absolutely amazing that there are so many beautiful maps on the workshop, all set and ready for cool projects!
a good name would be "Meteoro Key" as it looks like a meteor hit it thousands of years ago and because its also key : )
The container/ train idea by the industry was so smart
New sub, wow wow your detailing is off the charts.
Dlc vanilla with a dash of mods. It's incredible you stayed on budget
A cool name would be New Palmers, cuz there are lots of palm tress and it’s a beach. Another name would be Palmers Port cuz there’s is probably going to be a port and it has palm trees 😂
Thank you for the suggestion Ambrose :-)
Nice Video!
could you maybe make a video showing your all visual mods settings like relight and postprocessfx for example?
Hey man, amazing build and absolutely stunning visuals!!!
I've always played cities on a basic pc and I'm thinking of upgrading my setup in preparation for cities 2. Would love to know the specs on your machine that enables such high quality graphics and also what your ideal setup upgrade would be for cities 2, if any. Cheers!!
You. Are. So. Incredibly. Good. At. UA-cam.
Applause!!!!!!
I appreciate that, thank you!
For the city name something like Aishore would seem to fit, considering the area of crystal reef used to belong to the Ais nation. It also seems to sound somewhat similar to ‘East’, befitting if it’s geographic position
Whatever name the city would have though, I am looking forward to the challenge creating a realistic and large city with vanilla assets would bring
Thank you Falternative, and thank you for the suggestion. Glad to have you on board 😊
City name -- Crystal Beach. Kind of a riff off of Clearwater FL and Crystal Reef Co., FL
Cool suggestion - thanks Jason! 😊
Also my first tought.
McCormick, named after a police officer who claimed burger king put dirt on his burger when it turned out it was just seasoning. Just a very fitting florida man/america headline.
The city name should be rock bottom, cuz there is a long beach line and rock bottom is a episode from SpongeBob :)
Hi AEShooter thank you for the suggestion 😃
Great watch!!
Thanks a lot birm!
Not for nothing not everyone is into heavily modding a game, not everyone CAN mod games because they are not good at modding and feel left out of a lot. Doing things with a Vanilla game really helps those realize they don't need mods, you CAN play the game as is and still have it enjoyable.
The main city should be named "Crysalis"
Reminds me of the Miami beach
Nice man, quite an undertaking. Will you continue the Coniferia as well?
Thanks Ivan! Yep, I want multiple series to run at once!
there is no way this guy just made a vanilla city look 17x better than what i can do with tons of assets
Any chance u'll start a desert city or something like that? Anyway pretty hyped for this series.
Currently I am open for anything, and I will continue to see if I can squeeze in a bit of experimentation once in a while in my tight schedule 😊
@@Infrastructurist No worries man, I'm good w/ any series u start lol. You're one of the youtubers I quite enjoy.
I want to see someone do a vanilla build but only using Move-It mod.
Hi here are some ideas for town names * PAVALAS,MONACIA ,MAUGIO, Nouvelle CAMARGUE ,FRÉJUS ,BASTIA
so excited!
🤩🤩
I think you should name the first city into "Las Palma" or "Mirama" I think it would sound nice for the area 😄
La Palma (singular) or Las Palmas (plural)?
infra-EVER-SO-SLIGHTLY-structurist :)
Hey! Is that a poke at another one of my mange weird language traits? 😂
@@Infrastructurist LOL it's just one of my quirks, I notice stuff like that with others. My colleagues LOVE me LOL
For the name i think Santa Palma City sound cool
Since the area in your new city resembles a crater impact, I've got some awesome name suggestions for you:
1. Astropolis/Astrotopia
2. Celestinia/Celestia
3. Stellaria/Stellaris
4. Crater Bay
5. Crateria
6. Meteoropolis/Meteoria
7. Lunarcrest/Lunaris
8. Galactown
I hope one of these names makes it to your top 3! 😁 Whatever name you choose, I'm sure an amazing series awaits us! Can't wait to see the city thrive and flourish.
Thanks for all the suggestions and kind words Mohamed, appreciated! 😊
This actually looks like where I live in Florida, minus the elevation changes.
Couldnt time it any better brother
Haha - true ;-)
Longer episodes are better 😊
Glad you enjoyed it Adam! You don't think it moves on too slow, or too much talking? 😂
