  • Fuel filter replacement on a 2019 1.5 Grandland X. When you re fit the new filter if you can, top the housing up with fuel then screw it back up. if you do not top it up with fuel you will need to turn the key on and off around 10 to 15 times to get the fuel pump to fill it back up. Next time I will fill it back up with fuel. I have done it twice without filling it up. just takes 5 mins to get fuel through. Ether way works.

Thank you for this video. Did you have to prime back the filter cartridge with diesel ?

Hi we had to turn the key on and off about 10 to 15 times before it would start as the housing had to re fill with fuel. But worked fine and I have done it this way 2 or 3 times now with no problems. I would say if you have some fuel to fill up the housing before you re fit it. that will save some time. but ether way will work. Next time I will put some fuel back in the housing. Hope this helps

Hi mate for what it cost and how dirty fuel is I do the wifes every year without fail which for her is 16,000 miles. personally with fuel filters. I change mine on my van every 10.000 miles but thats my choice. I 100% would not let any car I owned go to 30.000 miles with changing it. Every year or every 15.000 miles is a safe bet ? .

Do you have the bleed valve open when turning the ignition on and often to prime it, or leave it closed?

I just put everything back as it was and then primed it ?. just turned the key on and off about 10 times or so. every time i turned the key on you could here the pump pushing fuel in, when it stopped I turned it off then just repeated it again and again till the car started. Would be easer to half fill it with fuel when you put it back on.
