    The batsman with Johnson is Pietersen, arguably responsible for changing how players approached batting in tests and probably in the top 5 English batsmen of all time. Well over 6 foot with a massive ego so had endless run ins with other players. Half South African so def had that attitude. Treated terribly by Strauss & the management at the end who just couldn't handle him. All time favourite for me and without a doubt the most entertaining test batsman since Lara

    Aussie here. I think it's fair to say the Aussie team complained about bouncers for a while after Phil Hughes' accidental death. And fair enough. But it's gone back to "play on" now

    The bouncer is a part of the game, some batters don’t mind the bouncer,the West Indians in the 70s and 80s didn’t use the helmet. Check out Vivian Richards AKA the master blaster, he loved the hook and pull shots which are shots played to the bouncer

    I’m an 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 fan. We have only thrashed Aussie once in Australia in my life time (2010/11): 1-3. But we’ve never whitewashed them home or away. When we win at home it’s usually very close.

    Check out George Bailey's speech about his interaction with Jimmy Anderson. Absolute comedy gold. Also, there was a moment in the video intro that should have gotten more attention in main part of the video. Shane Warne bowled to Kevin Pietersen who defended it back to Warne. Instead of keeping the ball for next delivery or even throwing back to the keeper, he threw it at Pietersen's head and he rightly hit it away. They could have come to blows right there. The strange thing is they were best mates and apparently you can't throw a ball at an enemy but friends are fair game.

    A bouncer is a legitimate part of the game. It is never wrong to bowl one. There is a limit per over depending on the type of the game and will be called a no-ball if the limit exceeds. Good on the bowlers who can consistently bowl that despite the injuries and stress their bodies sustain doing that.

  • @c3vzn
    @c3vzn Рік тому +3

    Weird take to think Australians complain about short pitched bowling in modern times. Yeah it was a thing in the 1930s when it was a targeted strategy to unsettle Bradman and co when they had no helmets but nobody has a problem with getting bounced now.

    13:17 bumrah on field vs bumrah off field is a stark contrast, the angry dude is in reality a very humble role model for younger professionals. Mitchell Johnson and a young Jasprit Bumrah were teammates for ipl franchise Mumbai Indians. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he had an influence on bumrah, and if that were the australian you see in him. One of my favourite things about the IPL has been the influence it has has on young Indian pros.

    Gabe, I'm Australian and Nick is correct in when he says, Aussies can give it out but they sure can't take it. You should watch Lara vs McGrath when Lara got 151* to win this test match in the late 90s against the West Indies. They had just lost top spot to Australia and Aussies were sledging Lara but it fired him up and he gave it back to Mcgrath, even shoulder barged him wanting to fight. Now, after sand paper gate, the aussies have taken of sledging a whole notch. Back in the domination era, their sledging was backed up by 1 of the greatest test teams. It made me hate that team even though it was technically such a dominant team. The only 1 out of that lot I didn't hate was Gilchrist who, ever the gentlemen destroyed teams with his bat. Now, in this Ashes, when Khawaja got a send off, the Aussie media are crying foul. It's like, are you serious? Have you not seen the last 30 years of bullying and 'mental disintegration' tactics employed by the aussies. Win at all costs whatever it takes attitude. Anyway, it's interesting to watch though huh

    • @Chzydawg
      @Chzydawg Рік тому

      The reason why people were upset about the Khawaja sending off is because he is a genuinely nice guy, if it happened to Warner or Smith nobody would really care. Uzie's a good bloke, he's known as the nicest guy in cricket for a reason.

    • @samg8572

      I’m Australian and I can categorically say you’re bloody clueless.
      We take it as good as we give it.
      If you’re speaking for yourself, that’s fine.
      Don’t generalise the entire country or our team on the basis of your own personality.

    • @Deuwl
      @Deuwl Рік тому

      @@samg8572 Look at what you're saying. You think I'm talking about my personality? That's so insane. Look how defensive you're getting. Yes, I might have gone too far in generalizing the whole population but not so with the aussie cricket team. I've pointed out that there are elements in Australian society that is exactly like what Nick said. Especially the Aussie cricket team. Look at the Khawaja dismissal. So, he's a nice guy and got a send off. Who cares. But Australian media were up in arms. Meanwhile, for decades, Steve Waugh's mental disintegration was part of the game. Mcgrath, Ponting and co went so far so many times when they got krap back you had monkeygate and Sarwan incident among others. My point is the sledging was started by us and when the other side went too far in our eyes then it's bad? Like when Sarwan did a sledge regarding Mcgrath's wife, he blew up. Sarwan probably didn't even know. Regardless, there's too many incidents like this I can back up my statement buddy. Kohli is another example. Now, coz of sand paper gate, we have become 'noble'. LOL. You don't start sledging and then make the rules. F off!! The fact that a foreigner picked this up is spot on. It's part of the culture here. I've experienced it myself. I'll give you one thing though. Most of my friends give as good as they get but there's certain elements of Aussie society like the cricket team I would apply this to. From witnessing this first hand in decades of watching cricket. No other team in world cricket has consistently throughout the decades shown this type of ugly abusive behavior. Lillee kicked Miandad ffs! That was disgraceful. The west indies back in the day were everyone's 2nd favorite team when they were on top. The Australian team were the most hated when it was our turn. For good reason buddy.

      What happened to Phil was tragic but you can't change the game because of a horrible accident. Short-pitch bowling is a crucial aspect of a bowlers ability to dominate a batsman and always brings out the best in the top players. The game would be reduced if short pitch bowling was banned. I speak as a bowler, so take that into account but I feel passionately about it.

    I want this aggression back from Australia, the last 2 days were the worst days test cricket I've seen in ages from Australia, absolute shambles.Cummins has to go as captain, never liked that decision, he only became captain because they were worried about the public backlash if smith was made captain again.
    They need a clear out, Warner Khawaja are getting too old, Green needs to perform, he can't just keep that place in the team for his fielding, get Lance morris in, we need some proper aggression. The bowling isn't as potent as it was 5 years ago, Cummins and Hazlewood have lost pace and hostility.Australia were lucky to win at Edgbaston and apart from lords have been behind in the most of the series. When the wicket is flat they have no answer to Bazball, and they're making Chris Woakes look like Malcolm Marshall, it's ridiculous

    secondly the only reason why the new ball was not given to jimmy was he was not bowling aswel as he could so he asked stokes not to give the new ball to him
