- I saw a lot of videos recent covering a different verity of icebergs revolving around tons of different series. And I've been wanting to make one for awhile now and after I found SorridoSnake's own MGS conspiracy icebergs and being a huge fan of the series I wanted to take a shot this. Hopefully you all enjoy it!

Fun fact about Liquid and Game Overs, if you die in the Liquid Ocelot fight at the end of MGS4 and select Exit, Liquid Ocelot says, something along the lines of "Not yet, it's not over yet" and your cursor will move to the continue option on its own but you can still Exit if you want.

I actually checked it out when he showed the whole iceberg at the start of the video. I only gave it a cursory glance, but it seemed fairly wholesome. Then again, I can't read Japanese

I have to disagree with Twin Snakes being Raiden’s VR training, I always headcanoned it as Otacon telling Sunny about Shadow Moses but adding his trademark otaku touch to some events.
And yes, I was on /v/ in 2014, I know all about Kazuhira “Master Race for Mother Base” Miller and how the Virgin Huey got NTR’d by the Chad Hal.
The actual prequel to MGS2 is Ghost Babel: Not only is it kind of a similar experience to Shadow Moses but on more familiar ground (Outer Heaven), which would make sense for a simulation, but also when you complete the VR missions in GB, the game actually refers to you as Jack. (I forgot everything I learned in class but of course this random MGS conspiracy survives in my brain somehow).
Twin Snakes isn't Raiden's VR or Otacon's retelling.

Actually, its because there is a small VR target in the Rex Hangar in MGS Twin Snakes.

I love how every entry has a full health bar.
I remember the thread on /v/ where it was claimed for the first time that Kaz was going to be vehemently racist in TPP, hence the game's theme of "race and revenge". Obviously it was a bunch of bullshit that no one took seriously, but considering where it was posted first, people made a concerning amount of memes out of it.

finally one of these videos for a franchise I'm actually interested in! I love the concept and format but had a hard time finding one that contained content i was interested in paying attention to lol. My deeper interest in the Metal Gear franchise is quite recent by Metal Gear fan standards, so despite your closing statement, i found most of this information to be quite fresh and interesting actually, at least to me! Very well done!
Seeing this video in my notifications, I knew this was going to be a good one due to how much research you put into your other videos, wasn’t disappointed on that front! I hope you do more iceberg videos (maybe one on a certain manga series youre known for)
Loved this video Meti. As a long time MGS fan, I was surprised both by how much stuff in the iceberg I already knew but also how much I never heard of. Wouldn't mind if you wanna make more Iceberg videos in the future.

If i remember correctly the kaz one you added involves a "special" rendition of take on me.
It's' probably common knowledge by now (since I'm aware of it lmao), but I wish more places talked about the headlock and first person camera in MGS2.
I would love to see more icebergs from you in the future.
I decided to play Metal Gear Rising last year while recovering from Covid after seeing some character analysis on Senator Armstrong. Which got me to thinking "I bet there's a hidden meaning in this game," and so I documented my, uh, oxygen deprived ramblings, live, into a journal. Which ended up being over 150 pages. When shared with the Metal Gear Reddit, I was greeted by a few downvotes and a comment of "cringe" [sic, co capitalization nor ending mark]
And while I would like to share this idea with others in some way, currently a bit too nervous to try without trying to talk it over with at least one other person, first.

It isn't perfect, I know there are some flaws when trying to connect to physical space (discussing the actual development of the game or some aspects of the Kojima-Konami relations) but, overall, I'm still confident in a majority of what I have written.

@@jonathancurry5392 the whole thing already reads closer to a script than a report (or at least trends that way) but there does need to be a bit more editing since there are some areas that should be reworked. I was able to make a Livestream (with UA-cam export) discussion of the first half (start through Monsoon) but haven't been able to have time to stream the far more exciting back half.
Also, Metal Gear Solid 3 is a VR mission that is being played by Raiden. (Theory).

So the "eyes on kazuhira" thing is because in ground zeroes, it's still MGSV not mgs 5, and as such it's a similar thing to the twin snakes, in that it is venom re living the mission where big boss was incapacitated. We can tell because of how the missions are shown to the player (the surrogate for venom), photographs, and short descriptions of the mission objective, ocelot reveals in TPP that this is how he induced hypnogogiac memories into venom, we can also tell that kaz isnt talking to snake because how he talks about paz, "how could we have ever bought that cover story, a student of peace?" When kaz literaly told snake at the end of peace Walker he knew about paz being a double agent the whole time. We can also hear kaz talking on the mgsv ground zeroes tapes of skullface interacting with paz and chico. Pyhtonselkianhd has a good video about this on his channel
This is a great video, I love watching these kind of deep dives. One correction I'd like to make tho regards the MGS theme conspiracy. First of all, the song was originally used in MGS1, tho it is much more prominent in 2 and 3. Secondly, while the song was never used in any new games after MGS3, it WAS kept in every rerelease. You can hear it both in the HD collection in MGS2 and 3 as well as Snake Eater 3D, which might have been the last time the song was ever officially released in some form.
Wasn't the song also on Portable Ops?

-you can start with raiden mask on
-the overall convenience of said mask when you need to impersonate raikov
-snake mishearing "virtuous mission" as "virtual mission"
-MGS3 being the only game where BB is ever referred to as jack (subsequent usually call him john when referring to his real name)

I also, wishfully, took “never be game over” to being Kojima possibly knowing his relationship with Konami was souring and future MGS games would be in doubt but that he’d eventually return to making new MGS games in the future. We can only hope.

I still have no idea what these iceberg videos are all about, they sound dumb and ridiculous if they have any similarities to the ones i HAVE seen many years ago, like how some cartoons and games are "actually" about some "dark and depressing" theme. If I remember right you could GameShark a FAMAS into the MGS2 demo that came with the original Zone of the Enders.
51 was cut along with okb zero assault being toned down to just you because it required you to be fighting through along with your fultoned troops you'd acquired. Xbox 360 and ps3 couldn't handle it. Konami didn't want to leave any sales on the table, so the ps3, ps4, xbox360, xbox one versions all had to have feature parity.

The "voice of god" can also be heard in mgs4 when you kill a lot of people in certain areas, saying "are you enjoying this" and stuff like that.

a few things worth adding include the guy who did all the motion capture for MGS2 went to jail for illegal weapon smuggling, the Metal Gear Solid mode in Ape Escape 3 which may include the final time they got to use the MGS theme, Kojima used Lego to stage out level layouts for MGS1, the hidden teaser image of Metal Gear ray for 100% completing MGS: the VR missions, during the E3 reveal of MGS3 Kojima tried to trick game journalists into thinking snake traveled back in time but a (not very well) hidden message in the booth pamphlets spelled out BIGBOSS, and the weapons of MGS1 were chosen purely because of how blocky they looked.
I really think the Chico is Quiet theory would have been a psychologically dark twist that would have been better than what Quiet amounted to.
Same, i honestly think amanda and chico were just removed from the pp plot because ppl fan theorized too fast that chico was quiet and kojipro feared to be cancelled by portraying a trans like that, it made sense too with what kojima said about ppl regretting what they said about quiet etc

Twin Snakes being a VR simulation is because there is a lil VR target on the REX hangar in that game.
Metal Gear Acod are two games for the PSP.
Id also add that the MGS game for the Game Boy color could also be a prequel to MGS2 because of the end credits mentioning Jack.

Well, regarding the VR training, there's a widely held belief that Ghost Babel Extra missions are Raiden's training, but it's been disproved by other fans. So yeah, either GB or TTS, both ideas are pretty cool to consider... I wonder if he would have preferred a fantasy setting
