The biggest problem with Liquid was his ego. He claimed to be the inferior one, and tried to beat his superior twin. And yet, he failed to realize that he WAS the superior one. The inferior defeated the superior. I bet he's screaming angrily in death about that blow to his ego.
I just realized that liquid snake has only been in 4 of the metal gear games and in two of them he is liquid snake and the other other two he is liquid ocelot the man is perfectly asymmetrical
I love liquid as a villain. He was just so iconic and I really liked how he was so persistent in not losing that he possessed the son of a medium. I love the grit and will of liquid. I also love how opposite solid is, he wasn’t like liquid, if he were solid’s only reason for not falling the same fate as liquid is due to him not holding the same feelings towards big boss and his twins, only seeing it as a job and not a way of proving himself to the world that he is superior. Solid doesn’t do it for himself, he does it for others. He saved Meryl and didn’t want to take the chance of killing Frank jager when he was aiming his stinger at liquid. Plus he saved Olga gerlukovich which came into his favour. It was liquid against the world and it was solid amd friends against the ODDS
Liquid is the most relentless character in the series. It was never game over for him. Even long after his death, he succeeded in destroying the patriots in the end , through a mental doppelgänger
It was explained in metal gear solid 4 that liquid was actually the superior clone and solid was the inferior clone. It was a lie that they told liquid from when he was a kid. The only thing that made solid I guess you could say stronger where his life experiences
It has occurred to me that, There's a solid snake, a liquid snake and a solidus snake, but there isn't a liquidus snake. In thermodynamics the liquidus temperature refers to the above temperature where a solid completely becomes a liquid. In metal gear acid 2, there was a solid snake, but his eye colour was different. His eyes were brown. it is revealed that he is in fact a clone of that solid snake from metal gear acid 1, who died, somehow. I think he should becalled liquidus snake.

Its wild how much of this I knew but the connections you made in regards to continuity and the way you presented it are outstanding. Stuff that is right in front of you. It's mind blowing how much of this that Kojima was able to pull off.
Cam Clarke does such a good job as Liquid in MGS1, almost every line he has is memorable. I can't help but recite his lines when watching the cutscenes.
"No. They show that the Codec is a video construct. If it weren't, you wouldn't have to disguise yourself physically; you would only have had to disguise your voice."
So simply liquid is like big boss Big boss had a medic as a phantom Liquid had shalashaska as a body double So hes the perfect clone? Snice he did exactly what big boss did? Except big boss died after the medic
Love how throughout the series liquid thought he was inferior because he thought he had the recessive genes, when in fact he had the dominant genes and was superior! 🤯
If written well, I wonder if Kojima could create some kinda nanomachine ass-pull to bring back Liquid Snake? Say, post Metal Gear Rising, the latest setting in the MGS timeline?
They used Big Boss's body, and nanomachines uploaded Liquid's consciousness. (Since Ocelot was faking, the last thing Liquid remembers is dying from FOXDIE.) Once Liquid "awakened", he was horrified to see Big Boss's body. He dyed the gray hair blond, and let it grow out. For about the first third of the game, he deprecatingly refers to himself as Liquid Boss.
White Mamba could be a reference to the Legend of the White Snake, don’t know what that might mean but I can’t think of anything else it could be. Could also be a reference to the band Whitesnake. The game is set in the 80’s so it would make sense.
Hell if anything things probably would've been different If Liquid dug further into the Les Enfants Terribles program, and found out and sought out to find Eva.

It won’t be so complicated and the story is pretty straight forward, and you don’t really need much knowledge of the msg series at all. It’s basically the start of the whole series. The gameplay is 👉pretty😸good👉 to today standards so it won’t feel too off. I understand that mgsv can be a lot for a first time player to the series (trust me I know lol) but once you get into it more and more you’ll realize that “damn this is pretty cool series!” Anyway sorry for going off topic, start with snake eater. I remember when I first played both games I was “wtf is going on!?” lmao Then there’s the really older games (like MSX old) For that I just watched story recaps since I don’t own that kinda stuff, start with mgs1 then mgs solid snake, the story for them are really good tho. Then there is MGS SHADOW MOSES. That’s when we get to meet liquid snake. After that son’s of liberty and then mgs4 and finally revengence. If you’re not interested that’s okay 😊 but give it a try, it’s pretty good lol
Tbh when ocelot said liquid was the superior one i didnt really see it as he has the better genes but more so his tenacity to try and surpass his perceived inferiority which resulted in his pure chatisma, durability and willpower had him proving himself superior to solid in spite of his genetics

Buddy, let me tell you about Drakengard *edit* okay actually nevermind they're not comparable at all, since JoJo and Metal Gear are a totally different kind of "weird" than Drakengard*
Okay hear me out. What we really should have gotten, would have been Metal Gear Liquid game. Think about it. Before MGS3, Big Boss was pretty much a warlord of a jingoistic country, who just happened to have a few positive interactions with people (mostly introduced in MGS1). Then MGS3 made him a fully fleshed out character, and gave a great origin story for him. I am not saying that Liquid should have been retconned into being an anti-hero or something, but there is room to develop him. Imagine playing a MGS game, but with a villain protagonist, who is an expert and using vehicles, and who's main goal is to prove his worth. Also, Ocelot would naturally fit in there as a mentor figure. Imagine Ocelot and Psycho Mantis as your codec crew lol. I feel sorry for Liquid, because he totally got fucked over in this series. He had one great game, where he was a popular villain. Then he was brought back as a weird arm spirit ghost and did nothing (not to mention that it was the worst part of the MGS series, and kinda took away from Ocelot too), and then he just vanishes, as he is actually not in MGS4 at all. And then he shows up in MGSV as a bratty kid, who has his boss fight cut out. They did him dirty, and his own game, would be the only way to do this rather popular, but misused character some justice.
Ikr, that’s insane! Although it makes sense in a way, since in mgs4 his voice was gone and only ocelot’s voice remained. I thought it was gone cause it wouldn’t make sense for his voice to come out of ocelot’s mouth. Now tho, it makes sense why the voice of liquid is gone in mgs4
@@excitedcat9517 I mean in Metal gear solid we witnessed supernatural momments so its not shocking but it would make better development if it was his own willful delusion, as it would be better for Ocelot character development of he idolised Big Boss and was willing to do everything for him also it would match Phantom Pain story where we could see how Venom Snake did exactly the same thing. Also it would match main theme of Metal gear solid, of how limited is free will and how we much we can change not realising it.
@@excitedcat9517 The reason Liquid Ocelot had Ocelot's voice in MGS4 was simply because Kojima wanted him to. Him sounding like Liquid in MGS2 was a choice made by the English localization. In the Japanese version, he has Ocelot's voice.
4:088:40 God damn, Kiefer's voicework really WAS really good. It's so subtle, but Kojima was on to something with how he wanted Snake to say more with much fewer words.
From mgs they drop the whole recessive dominant thing and just used percent so soild is 95 percent BB and liquid was 97 BB the rest came from there mom
Now that you brought up the Japanese vs American script, is it possible that whoever localized the game forgot to change “inferior” in the post credits scene to “recessive”?
I love how liquid got his time to shine in MGS5. You can tell Kojima was trying to do right by him seeing as he always regretted killing him off so early. I’d love a game where you play as liquid leading up to Shadow Moses.
You just filled a major plot hole for me. I always thought Ocelot was acting as Liquid the whole time, but Liquids spirit was destroyed after the arm was replaced with cybernetics

Sahelanthropous shouldn't have existed in five. Kinda directly undoes the gravity of Rex and Ray. As far as I'm concerned the peace walker timeline isn't real
Yes, "Snake" was originally chosen because snakes are sneaky. The fact that Kojima wanted Kurt Russel, who portrayed the most iconic "Snake" in cinema history, to voice act for a Metal Gear Snake at some point, is completely coincidental, and any resemblance to people living or fictional is entirely unintentional. Awesome use of the stock footage, by the way. ;D

The biggest problem with Liquid was his ego. He claimed to be the inferior one, and tried to beat his superior twin. And yet, he failed to realize that he WAS the superior one. The inferior defeated the superior. I bet he's screaming angrily in death about that blow to his ego.
You could always ask Ocelot.
The man who was in 4 Metal Gear games, but after MG4, it turns out he was really only in 2. In terms of being an actor, Ocelot's pretty good.
I just realized that liquid snake has only been in 4 of the metal gear games and in two of them he is liquid snake and the other other two he is liquid ocelot the man is perfectly asymmetrical
My dream is a Kojima directed prequel where we play as Liquid Snske
I loved Liquid Snake. He died too soon. I wish he lived for a few more games.
Well he kinda did, through Ocelot. But actually not.
Liquid is awesome. Shame he didn't get a full resurrection like Kojima was planning.
6:42 just a floating rifle, mother base’s stealth tech is really something
Such a shame liquid was killed early. Would've loved to actually see him in a game post mgs1, and not just his voice.

It was explained in metal gear solid 4 that liquid was actually the superior clone and solid was the inferior clone. It was a lie that they told liquid from when he was a kid. The only thing that made solid I guess you could say stronger where his life experiences
That was explained before MGS4 GOTP. Remember Ocelot's post credit phone call at the end of MGS1?
@@Xxandrew01 you are right.
Hell fuckin yeah, another MG video ! Thank you for always making such quality-filled videos! (Not only the MG ones obviously)
It has occurred to me that,
There's a solid snake, a liquid snake and a solidus snake, but there isn't a liquidus snake.
I'm also disappointed we didn't get a Plasma snake, since we're talking about thermals and matter......Plasma would make a great villain name....
@@truckercowboyed2638And let's not forget that we also need Gas Snake .

Can’t wait for the Mistral video.
Spot on video. Good job capturing all the data for this awesome villain.
You have that MGS certified badge 😎👌
It's always fun seeing Bravo Two Zero get referenced outside of UKSF topics. It's probably the most famous SAS book or at least it was for a very long time. Super famous in the UK, I barely ever hear anyone else talk about it out of country lol nice
LIquid!
BROTHER!!
Liquid was always so happy to see his little bro 😁
Its wild how much of this I knew but the connections you made in regards to continuity and the way you presented it are outstanding. Stuff that is right in front of you. It's mind blowing how much of this that Kojima was able to pull off.
so he won, but he lost, but he won, but he lost. from birth, to death. literally. he truly was his father's hated clone.
"It's not over, snake"
I can't wait for Liquid Snake to comeback as a cyberized parasite unit that underwent nano machine therapy to think he's Liquid Snake
Unironically better Liquid Ocelot
Cam Clarke does such a good job as Liquid in MGS1, almost every line he has is memorable. I can't help but recite his lines when watching the cutscenes.
What's your favorite?
What a character, love him or hate him. Liquid.
“Snake, did you like my sunglasses?”
"No. They show that the Codec is a video construct. If it weren't, you wouldn't have to disguise yourself physically; you would only have had to disguise your voice."
Kojima definitely did his story a disservice by killing off Liquid so early to the story.
Liquid was a great villain should have kept alive for the sequels
Big chungus wasn't limited by his recessive genes
He was the superior meme after all
oh yes, one of the sons of Ultra-Instincts Shaggy
ohhh noooo. it's the Son's of Chungus........
So simply liquid is like big boss
Big boss had a medic as a phantom
Liquid had shalashaska as a body double
So hes the perfect clone? Snice he did exactly what big boss did? Except big boss died after the medic
Love how throughout the series liquid thought he was inferior because he thought he had the recessive genes, when in fact he had the dominant genes and was superior! 🤯
If written well, I wonder if Kojima could create some kinda nanomachine ass-pull to bring back Liquid Snake? Say, post Metal Gear Rising, the latest setting in the MGS timeline?
In Metal Gear Solid / Evangelion crossover I was writing, the Patriots made Liquid into a cyborg Ninja.
Buddy MGS is over and we're never getting a MGRR sequel
They used Big Boss's body, and nanomachines uploaded Liquid's consciousness. (Since Ocelot was faking, the last thing Liquid remembers is dying from FOXDIE.) Once Liquid "awakened", he was horrified to see Big Boss's body. He dyed the gray hair blond, and let it grow out. For about the first third of the game, he deprecatingly refers to himself as Liquid Boss.
I'm noticing meti been doing a lot more "glory of" videos as of late.🤔
We need a "Glory of Meti" video, he's been putting in the work recently
I'd personally love to see a Glory of Klavier Gavin video someday.
So?
White Mamba could be a reference to the Legend of the White Snake, don’t know what that might mean but I can’t think of anything else it could be. Could also be a reference to the band Whitesnake. The game is set in the 80’s so it would make sense.
Here you go again....
Hell if anything things probably would've been different If Liquid dug further into the Les Enfants Terribles program, and found out and sought out to find Eva.
Someone should hop on a metal gear anime. Imagine the revenue any studio/ stream service could bring in from it. There’s already tons of lore, story, fleshed out characters. That could easily be 5+ seasons of content. The hype alone would have it doing major numbers!
They tried..
@@YABUKIJOE2077 I take it that it was unsuccessful so? Never even heard about this
@@himynameis3664 if castlevania has an anime then why not mgs?

Liquid was NOT THE RECESSIVE CLONE
Metal Gear is my all time favorite video game franchise of all time. I’ve thought about doing a discord server for fans to talk all things Metal Gear. Would anyone be interested in that.
i just liked his sunglasses
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of meeting the va of Liquid Snake and asked him if Liquid’s life would have been different if he knew the whole story. He gave me a narrative story that I don’t entirely remember but the gist of it was that Liquid was so focused on his identity as his father’s clone that he never thought of becoming his own person. Unlike Solid, Liquid couldn’t break free of this identity crisis. Also, that apparently kept him up all night 😅
Remembering mgs4 and our torture in microwaves room, I understand also enhanced physical abilities. Raiden could've wasted his youth (as he did with his arms
Made me snort lol
Going bare chested in the winter is probably liquids most superior skill
I sometimes dream of Kojima retaking the rights to Metal Gear and potentially remaking the series.

Trust me bro this series is awesome, if you wanna get into the games but have zero knowledge on the game here’s where to start.
Try going for snake eater,
It’s a good game to start with Since technically it’s the first game where the series starts.
It won’t be so complicated and the story is pretty straight forward, and you don’t really need much knowledge of the msg series at all. It’s basically the start of the whole series.
The gameplay is
👉pretty😸good👉 to today standards so it won’t feel too off. I understand that mgsv can be a lot for a first time player to the series (trust me I know lol) but once you get into it more and more you’ll realize that “damn this is pretty cool series!”
Anyway sorry for going off topic, start with snake eater.
Then after that try going for peacewalker, now I haven’t played this game but I’ve seen the cutscenes of it. Basically it was like watching a movie 🍿
I think while watching them I was hooked already by the story alone lol. Then after that go for ground zeros. I got the mgsv and ground zero bundle and man that whole part made more sense after experiencing mgs snake eater and peace walker. I remember when I first played both games I was “wtf is going on!?” lmao
Then there’s the really older games (like MSX old)
For that I just watched story recaps since I don’t own that kinda stuff, start with mgs1 then mgs solid snake, the story for them are really good tho. Then there is MGS SHADOW MOSES. That’s when we get to meet liquid snake. After that son’s of liberty and then mgs4 and finally revengence.
I know that’s a whole lot but I’m just giving you a map on where to start and where to end if you want to get into the series.
If you’re not interested that’s okay 😊 but give it a try, it’s pretty good lol
@@loll2561 start with metal gear solid 3 then portable ops peace walker, metal gear 1 2 metal gear solid 1 2 and 4
Love your Metal Gear videos
Tbh when ocelot said liquid was the superior one i didnt really see it as he has the better genes but more so his tenacity to try and surpass his perceived inferiority which resulted in his pure chatisma, durability and willpower had him proving himself superior to solid in spite of his genetics
Found that I have a PS2 copy of Sons of Liberty, then this video came out. Somehow this vid wasn’t in my notifications. I actually found this in my recommendations the day after I finished Sons of Liberty. Good shit.

Am I the only one who gets dio vibes from liquid?
Buddy, let me tell you about Drakengard
*edit* okay actually nevermind they're not comparable at all, since JoJo and Metal Gear are a totally different kind of "weird" than Drakengard*

WE WENT FROM JOJO TO METAL GEAR, I DONT UNDERSTAND BUT I LIKE WHERE THIS IS GOING
Just started replaying mgsv and binging your mgs videos the other day, thanks Meti, very cool.
God bless you for this one
They did him dirty, and his own game, would be the only way to do this rather popular, but misused character some justice.
so it would be a MGL game would it not ??? metal gear liquid.....
Ocelot and snake are practically brothers. Both sons of the boss and big boss!
16:54 wait that was really Liquid ghost possessing Ocelot that time????
I have thought it was only hypnotic suggestion that he placed on himself.
It is
Ikr, that’s insane!
@@excitedcat9517 I mean in Metal gear solid we witnessed supernatural momments so its not shocking
but it would make better development if it was his own willful delusion, as it would be better for Ocelot character development of he idolised Big Boss and was willing to do everything for him
also it would match Phantom Pain story
where we could see how Venom Snake did exactly the same thing.
I love liquid snake definitely one of if not my favourite character in metal Gear solid. I definitely understand how Kojima felt
21:18-21:25
Oh... OH..! I never thought of that. Mind blown!

So, Mini-Boss?

Plasma Snake.
I'm going to whine about my genes for the rest of this game.
Now if you excuse me, I'm going to do something British.
Can’t believe they mage a metal gear character after liquid Chris
4:08 8:40 God damn, Kiefer's voicework really WAS really good. It's so subtle, but Kojima was on to something with how he wanted Snake to say more with much fewer words.
0:31 I guess venom did get children in the end.
He’s not the recessive genetic clone, he is the dominant clone
No he's the superior clone, with the recessive genes. He is has natural blonde hair so he can't be dominant.
From mgs they drop the whole recessive dominant thing and just used percent so soild is 95 percent BB and liquid was 97 BB the rest came from there mom
@Big Crunch What would he have against this?
Now that you brought up the Japanese vs American script, is it possible that whoever localized the game forgot to change “inferior” in the post credits scene to “recessive”?
@@shadowstephen8296 Twin Snakes also uses the word “inferior” during the post credits scene. So I’m pretty sure it was always supposed to be this way.
I love how liquid got his time to shine in MGS5. You can tell Kojima was trying to do right by him seeing as he always regretted killing him off so early. I’d love a game where you play as liquid leading up to Shadow Moses.
Such a mind-F that all his life he believed that he was the "flawed" clone
Hmm, I wonder who this Liquid Snake guy is all about and why everyone liked him so much.
14:22 Ocelot eliminated two guys Sigint and Decoy Octopus at the same time, yeah very accidental

You just filled a major plot hole for me. I always thought Ocelot was acting as Liquid the whole time, but Liquids spirit was destroyed after the arm was replaced with cybernetics
It is so obvious that Naomi hunter and frank Jaeger/cyborg ninja were brother and sister. I mean jaeger is German for hunter, but when I was a kid that was one of the biggest plot twists i had ever seen video games, besides Kaz Miller actually being liquid in disguise.
"Snake, you've been talking to..."
"...me, dear brother."
Awesome use of the stock footage, by the way. ;D
Well he _did_ fly that gull wing over Leningrad.
The name Eli is actually a reference to Eliab, the brother of David - the David who fought Goliath - and in this case a direct reference to Snake, David.
If only Liquid knew that recessive doesn't mean inferior
This really fills in some gaps for me about mgsv
