I got my first peperomia polybotrya today and of course I had to turn to your channel for tips on how to take care of it. I love that you give interesting facts about its family too and where you can find them in nature, etc!
I LOVE the fact that you don't wear makeup in most of your videos. It's so important to normalize our real faces in this culture of objectification. You are stunning and you will give other women and girls the courage to embrace their natural beauty. Plants don't need slap so why do we? Cheers, Erin.
Hi Erin, I really appreciate this comment. At most I do try to keep my nails done, but that's so futile with all the soil under my fingernails! Have a blessed day.
Totally agree Erin. I hate the social pressure to glam up. It’s a lot of effort and a time waster. Obviously Summer spends her time researching and reading. Way better use of time.
Love this video, thank you!! I've actually discovered the awesomeness of Peperomias through you and started a small collection myself. I can't get enough of these plants! :)
I'm starting to think I need to include a peperomia in my living wedding bouquet! It'll be a little 4" pot with cuttings and a small plant that I carry in a special holder I'm making, and I can keep it and love it for the future!
I have never been happier. The Goddess of Plants is BACKKKKK !!!!!!!!!! Yay Summer!!! So excited for your master class as well. You're truly the best. Much love xox
BTW y'all: Another Pep episode launches tomorrow. (I'm making up for lost time you can say!!) Between those two episodes, if there are pep questions I may not have answered for you, let me know.
What is the best way in your opinion to propagate peperomia prostrata? If you propagate it by laying it on the soil, should the soil stay moist or rather dry? Thanks for your help!
I have been waiting so PATIENTLY for this. Love your content. You’re beyond wise. I appreciate your Science knowledge on so many families of plants 💚💚💚
I admire you being knowledgeable about all varieties of peperomia, its characteristics and its care tips.Wow! Thank you for sharing with us all about this plant.More power to your video! God bless!
I love peperomias. Prostrata and ruby cascade have been on my plant wishlist for ages. Thanks for another excellent nerdy video. The way the plants were laid out on the table REALLY helped put the different types of care into perspective. That was really thoughtful and clever.
I found you tonight via an Huffpost article link. Subscribed before watching because I discovered the name of the plant that fills my house! It's the variegated peperomia you have in the 'breast vase.' it's a funny story how I went from NO plants to a jungle of these. I was working as a personal trainer in 2000 at a gym with no windows. Suddenly my boss swiped the tiny, sad plant on her metal desk into a trash can. "I give up on this thing! It's been almost dead for a year!" I, who anthropomorphize everything, rescued it out of pity and took it home. It settled right in and grew like crazy. Whenever my cats or kids broke a piece off, I stuck it in water, waited for roots, and in this way 20 yrs passed. I've given many away, several are quite large, some have grown into and around and through plant stands, and that 2" trashed plant has more than shown its gratitude - yet until tonight I never knew its name. Thanks!
I found out about Peperomia while looking for cat-friendly plants. Thanks for the awesome video introducing the whole family. I chose 'Hope' and ' Schumi Red'. Next to the Peperomias, I'm falling in love with my Hoyas, Pilea libanensis, and Calathea makoyana in particular.
I want to show this to my sister sometime in good spirit... She recently lost a peperomia she's cared for for over a year in her tiny basement apartment. It was actually growing until she had to move it to another home for a bit. So many factors there: could have been different light, heat, and adjusting watering habits to its' new place. I hope she doesn't give up hope growing them!
I'm so glad you are back! I love learning about the many houseplants from you. I never thought of using a better draining potting mix with bark along with the chunkier perlite on my plants that don't like "wet feet." I always learn something from you! Thanks for all your efforts to make us all more informed.
Seriously superb video, Summer! So glad you're back. You have a divine way of informing without over-complicating. I feel knowledgeable and capable after watching your videos. I'm fairly new to indoor gardening after moving from my limited light apt in Manhattan to now a house with lots more natural light in Colorado and your videos have truly equipped me with a deeper understanding of plant species that help me keep them, not just alive, but thriving in my home. Can't thank you enough and I look forward to where your channel takes me next! ❤🌿☘🍀🌱
OMGGGGGG missed you and your plants! This video was filled with so much info and plant beauty my mind is blown and totally HAPPY! I'm so glad your back and looking forward to what's next!!!!! YAY!!!!!SUMMER IS HERE!!!!!🌿🌵🍃🌴❤️😃
I'm all new to this plant..saved on that I found sitting by itself in a store where it didn't belong. Brought it home and just repotted it in succulent soil..really hope it does well.
I love everything you had to say about Peperomia. I wish you could make separate videos on the more succulent ones and the less succulent ones so I can learn even more.
So glad you are back, and you talk about peperomia, they are my fav too! I still have difficulty to figure out the watering, sometimes overwater sometimes underwater, I killed about 5 during this winter! But I’ll never give up, I have about 10 currently, and will acquire more for sure! X
Hi from Puerto Rico 😃🌱 I'm very happy that I found a UA-cam channel where I can learn more about plants; I love nature and mostly plants: My favorite are, hanging, succulents, red/violet stems and medicinal. In the month of April, I went for a walk with my father-in-law and I took a cutting from a strange plant growing from a rock. I thought " ... this is going to be a difficult one to find out ..." No one could tell me at least the common name ... I planted it and it is happly living in my backyard 🧡 Thanks to you I fell in love with peperomias and today I randomly found this episode "I 💙 peperomias" and GUESS WHAT!!?? Is a Peperomia blanda 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 thanks for charging so much info 🙏🌱🧡💚💚🌱
Just brought an obtusifolia into home and am so pleased with it. Thanks for the great video which is making me think I will be getting more of these beauties!
I’ve found the first peperomia yesterday and didn’t buy them because I needed to come back to your videos to learn where I need to put them in my house first. I have a meditation room I’d love to situate them in but it’s a dry and lower light space. I’m looking forward to learning how to care for them because I was so excited I found two variations because of you!
Thanks for giving us insight on your care and collection. I only have three peperomia varieties and I struggle with two of them 😅 but I will never give up on them and stick to your care tips
-Where's kippee- The new show looks real good. The girls at my local plant shop recognize me now cause i'm practically the only dude that goes there to buy plant$, all becau$e of you. I'm in the process of turning my 2-dudes-very-empty-apartment into a jungle. Cheers
Wow! Good for you! Your apartment mate will definately appreciate all your hard work 😁 who wouldn't want to live in a beautiful jungle!? Would love to see a video update!
Love hearing guys who love house plants ! My hubby threatens to kill them if I turn the rooms into jungles.🤣🤣🤣 it takes patience to grow plants from small and I love watching them grew. It is also calming and peaceful. Something to do other than tv surfing. You’re a cool dude . Enjoy making your place into huge green space 👍👍
I love your content! It actually got me really excited about peperomia again, when I’d all but given up on them. What are the plant varieties that are in this beautiful open terrarium on your left? Do you have a video on it?
After a long day at work I come home to your video and I was soo excited. Thank you for a new video. I have tons of peperomias and other beauties with lovely foliage. 💚
I just ordered two new pep babies because of this! I love how concise her videos always are because I feel like sometimes I don't want a big production I just want some basic info, so shes so great for that! My go to now for quick tips! P.s. that dolabriformes!!!
This video is so helpful! I've recently purchased my first ever Peperomia ~ caperata 'Lilian'. It was looking so lonesome, bone-dry and wilting, stuck on a lightless shelf in the local supermarket plant section ~ I couldn't resist! It has perked up and thrown up many more inflorescences within just a few days. I'll let it settle for a couple of months before repotting in the free-draining mix you recommend! It's plant passport is 'Netherlands' (most of garden centre & supermarkets plants here are Dutch bred).
Welcome back! I didn't used to think I liked peperomia because I had only seen obtusifolia (still not my favorite), but they are so diverse that I have several now: caperata rosso, dolibriformis, ferreyrae, prostrata, and parallel. They're so fun!
Great video! You got me hooked ever since your visit to 'Steve's Leaves'. He is my go to guy for Pep's just added my 15th to my collection for all the reasons you mentioned. One Pep is really giving me heartache "Peperomia pereskiifolia" I either water too little or too much, so I purchased a water gauge but I am still not sure when to give her a drink, do I wait until she droops. Hope you had a nice break sure did miss you.
Sure thing. I try to go over more specifics also in the next Pep video too, but I think each of these plants are deserving for their own care videos. Stay tuned!
Great video! I bought two peperomia frost plants a couple months ago, now ready to re pot and put into my bedroom, hopefully with success from the tips in this video 😎
peperomias are definitely one of my most favourite species, although I've drowned some, but they are relatively easy and always stunning plants. Thank you for this video!!
I absolutely ♥️ your videos. You provide such helpful information. You are so knowledgeable, it’s like taking a class. :-) I also greatly appreciate the quality of your videos. They’re the best! I just got my first plant ever, and of course it’s a peperomja obtusifolia. Thank you for sharing your videos, I look forward to learning more from your videos.
Perfect first video for the new year. A friend of mine just gifted me with THREE Peperomia. The only one I can identify, by common name, is Theresa Silver.
Thank you for this education. I'm lucky to have found you and appreciate your breadth of botanical expertise. I just purchased a watermelon peperomia (argyeria?) and the leaves started to curl after repotting her. I used a mix of potting soil, perlite and succulent mix, maybe I shocked her. I did have her near my kitchen window that tends to get drafty at night. I changed her location to the dining room on a credenza with bright light streaming in. Any tips you can share are much appreciated.
She collates her Peperomia. That's why she's the queen. How I've missed her! 👑😊💕
haha. Color-coding next?
why do you miss her?
@@summerrayneoakes km ooommmmmommkommmomomo
Plant names just roll off her tongue flawlessly!
I got my first peperomia polybotrya today and of course I had to turn to your channel for tips on how to take care of it. I love that you give interesting facts about its family too and where you can find them in nature, etc!
same here! Mine came in kokedama (no pot) so I'm extra nervous about it.
I LOVE the fact that you don't wear makeup in most of your videos. It's so important to normalize our real faces in this culture of objectification. You are stunning and you will give other women and girls the courage to embrace their natural beauty. Plants don't need slap so why do we? Cheers, Erin.

SO good to have you back on my dashboard! I've missed these weekly botanical meetings 😂
feels good to be back!
Oh gosh that little guy and 6:21 is giving me life!!!! I need one for my collection now! Thanks Summer.
Love this video, thank you!! I've actually discovered the awesomeness of Peperomias through you and started a small collection myself. I can't get enough of these plants! :)
Got my tea and breakfast, now time to watch and learn from the beautiful Miss Summer Rayne Oakes!

Just got my first Peperomia!! thanks for the inspiration and caring information!!
I'm starting to think I need to include a peperomia in my living wedding bouquet! It'll be a little 4" pot with cuttings and a small plant that I carry in a special holder I'm making, and I can keep it and love it for the future!
That is such a great idea!!! It will be lovely to watch those plants grow. Congratulations and best of luck!
I’ve rewatched these videos so many times. Something so comforting about them. ♥️

Awesome to have you back. Yay 4K video!! I'm looking forward to the rest of this series. Can't wait!
Always 4K
I love peperomias. Prostrata and ruby cascade have been on my plant wishlist for ages. Thanks for another excellent nerdy video. The way the plants were laid out on the table REALLY helped put the different types of care into perspective. That was really thoughtful and clever.
Check Lowes! I got a ruby cascade there last week!
Very glad the arrangement helped and made sense.

My pleasure. Thanks for sharing your gratitude.
I absolutely loved this video. Very informative with great visuals of Peperomia. Great knowledge & to the point..
The thing that you do so well, among others, is soil!!! Taking your advice with substrates has revolutionized my plant collection.
I think I could watch you talk about anything, probably all day. Not in a creepy way!
Thanks for the video, Summer! I had no idea Peps came in so many different varieties! You know a lot about them, wow!

Fantastic care video for Peperomia. Gave me courage to go and purchase a peperomia - going for the more succulent variety to start with. Thank you.

Summer.. So glad you're back. Love all your videos!!
I got two and I am living them. Thanks for sharing.

I just got my first Peperomia Russo. This video had a lot of great info. Thanks Summer!
thanks to this video, i finally know that my peperomia is a marmorata or "silver heart"
H Pal I ordered a Marmorata from Steve. I have to wait patiently until it warms up so he can send it. Where do you keep yours? Is he easy to grow?
I'm keeping mine in a little terrarium @@stockinettestitch ... I'll see how he fairs there!
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL SO MUCH i learn a lot and get filled with passion and love for plants!!!
6:19: according to subtitling "succulent variaties are often growing in Zurich or dry conditions"!! Good to know.
Welcome back! I didn't used to think I liked peperomia because I had only seen obtusifolia (still not my favorite), but they are so diverse that I have several now: caperata rosso, dolibriformis, ferreyrae, prostrata, and parallel. They're so fun!
Fantastic! Glad you appreciate their diversity!
Great video! I learned a lot. So happy you’re back!

I love P. pereskiifolia. Seems to root up pretty easily from a stem cutting. Not sure what's up with yours, but I'll cover it more in another vlog.
Now that was amazing. I need more peps.
glad you enjoyed.
Your videos are a green feast for the senses! Very inspirational and so informative. I'm looking forward to following this next series :)
São todas muito lindas parabéns pelo seu carinho com elas que Deus abençoe sempre suas plantinhas.
This is the genus I've had the most consistent success with so far. My little peps always just look good while my ficus struggle.
I’m in love with my pepperomia hope! She’s so cute ❤️
I was really hoping you could go over your care tips for the watermelon peperomia. I can't seem to make mine happy. Great video thank you!
Sure thing. I try to go over more specifics also in the next Pep video too, but I think each of these plants are deserving for their own care videos. Stay tuned!
Thanks for the wonderful information...peperomias are becoming a favorite with me.
This is my very favorite group of plants too. I'm so excited to see this!
Great video! I bought two peperomia frost plants a couple months ago, now ready to re pot and put into my bedroom, hopefully with success from the tips in this video 😎
Im so happy to have you back! Im excited to pick out my first peperomia!
peperomias are definitely one of my most favourite species, although I've drowned some, but they are relatively easy and always stunning plants. Thank you for this video!!
Easy to drown! Especially with not well-draining soil!
Super informative video!!!! I can't wait for your book to come out! 😊😊😊😊
Meeee toooo. Thanks Jenny!
I absolutely ♥️ your videos. You provide such helpful information. You are so knowledgeable, it’s like taking a class. :-) I also greatly appreciate the quality of your videos. They’re the best! This is awesome and I just bought my first peperomias and I'm so excited to get more!! Thank you for sharing!!!
I really enjoy your Chanel and always learning so much!! Think I might have found 4-5 peperomia favorite
Great and very informative video thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Perfect first video for the new year. A friend of mine just gifted me with THREE Peperomia. The only one I can identify, by common name, is Theresa Silver.
Good luck with them! In addition to all the species out there, there are a ton of cultivars. Hard to keep track!
Curling up or down?
Curling down
i just got the Quadrangularis from a friend..im so in love..thnx for sharing Summer!!!!
Thank you, Summer!
Yes! This was amazing! I have so many peperomia and I just rearranged them all according to your advice! THANK YOU SUMMER!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a rubber tree plant, because I keep losing the bottom leaves and this plant means sooo much to me and I’m devastated.
