Thank you for repeating that we're supposed to check the old leaves for watering and not the new leaves. That's something I didn't know and was causing me some anxiety. Luckily I'm been waiting for the older leaves to get thirsty too. But hearing from you that that's officially the right way to do it is so reassuring!
You're the best plant UA-camr! No one do cuttings updates and tips like you do! haha and thanks for always reply to me on instagram with my annoying questions
I actually put mine in a very low light area and it has been growing very well. Super low maintenance!!! And I love petting their leaves too. So waxy! 😍
I’ve literally just found and rescued a variegated peperomia obtusifolia from my local supermarket and UA-cam searched on how to propagate a peperomia and then finding your vid (recent fan here) specifically talking about this specie made my entire day! I can’t wait to make a bushy peperomia obtusifolia variegate pot! 😁😁😁😁😁 I’m learning soo much from your vids! Thank you!
I know they look very simple but i love ur terracota pots!!!! And yes these pepperomia are handsdown veeery easy to grow even in neglect… good for biginners. I leave them for weeks in the office n only water at least once a month n they do not disappoint
Hi from Canada ! I love Peperomias. I have about 9 kinds... and wanting more ! They are apparently pet safe... it's worth mentioning. Thx for the video ... always great to see you and hear your cute statements ("leaf petting" lol ❤) and so satisfying when you do all the updates in 1 video. 👏
I want to thank you so much for making this video. I brought from my old job and it has only three leaves. I think they are so pretty and would like to reproduce them. I bought new soil and later on today I will experiment with them a try three different ways that you have shown us here. I believe I will be successful because you are a great teacher. I am going to make a video so I can start keeping track of the process. Best wishes friend ❤
New subscriber from Minnesota USA! Your plant-love is contagious and I enjoy your videos. I have a 30 year old peperomia obtusifolia and I will forever say the full name from now on because of you. This plant has been to hell and back - literally survived a very bad house fire long ago and then years of neglect in the same pot until the pot was recently disintegrating and leaking so I had to transplant it. It is very leggy and twisty so I am now propagating it to get it bushier as your tutorial was sooooo inspiring! I thank you and my peperomia obtusifolia thanks you!
I have propagated 4 branches of my friend’s peperomia. I can’t wait for them to root. Their heart shape and shiny leaves makes them unique. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Shawn for sharing this one. I've just plan to repot this guy at my home but still think what's the best media. And I've seen how it's growing well in leca. And will try that way soon. Thanks again !
You are a house plant whisperer and peperomia extraordinaire. I, on the other hand, am a peperomia killer. They just don't like my care style. I care too much for their liking, I think. Prayer plants love me. I can keep other succulents happy... Hoya, Sansevieria & Cactus for example but when it comes to peperomia they're a complete mystery to me. U're success and care tips have given me courage to try again, though. Thank you for sharing.
I have watched enough of your videos to know that you were going to say "my trusty pencil" even before you said it (lol). This plant has not done much for me, but I am still hopeful. Thank you for the information and for sharing your beautiful plants.
I've had a variegated peperomia obtusifolia for a few years now. It grew wonderfully but was only putting out pure green leaves for most of that time. Recently, it's been putting out absolutely beautiful yellow-green and deep green splash variegation and I'm just delighted! It must really love its new spot at my bedroom window. I also propagated a new plant from it too and I'm hoping the new plant will produce its own variegation someday.
Oh yes they respond well to light. The perfect light meter haha. They can actually take some direct light and will reward you with high variegation. But not full sun
Its really nice that you show us different ways of propagation and then show us updates. Thank you for sharing your videos. I have different variety of Pepperomia. I tried to propagate the variagated one in water. However, after a week, I saw that the end of the cuttings started turning black. Its rotten. So i cut off the rotten ends and just stuck them on the soil along with the mother plant. One of the cuttings died unfortunately. Im hoping the rest will thrive soon.
I agree, leca is good for short time to root something then plant in mix of leca and soil is what I like, or just in other substrate. I wouldn’t want to be bleaching leca either!
Just picked up my first indoor plant on Saturday (I've been feeling a lot o urge to help something grow lately) so I picked up Peperomia Obtusifolia Veriegata. So far I'm very happy with my choice, and now I just want to learn as much about this little guy as I can.
Its an excellent choice. The variegated require far more light and in my experience, is very spidermites prone. The variegated is also less forgiving with overwatering 😀
If you make a paper circle cover for your LECA bottles, you can keep algae from growing. Just lift the cover or slide it off to see the roots. No algae! :) I use peroxide in each time I top up to keep algae from growing too. Thanks for this video! You've given me courage to prune my Peperomia!
I just got a peperomia and a leaf fell off. I’m watching and rewatching, I’m afraid to cut the leaf! Maybe this weekend I’ll get the nerve to do it ☺️ when you say “back to our regular programming” after petting the leaves 🥰
I loved watching your video! It was awesome to see the updates you included. All of your plants look amazing. ~I just propagated my variegated peperomia according to your instructions. Eager to see if I have success like you did! ~Very cool to see how the plants that grew in leca. I've heard of leca, but never tried it. You are such a happy guy and your interests and knowledge of plants is apparent! I can't wait to check out some of your other videos. :-)
Dear Sean, I also ❤️ peperomia obtusifolia. If you don't want to have algae, put the wessels into a coverpot. You have algae, because the light gets through the water. If you put the glass into a coverpot, it will be in dark and the algae won't grow on the glass. And whenever you want to check on the roots, you can take the glass out of the coverpot and put it back. 😊
@@onlyplants you don.t see the roots or water level when you have them in soil either. it seems that for propagation , leca would be faster. Make a sleeve for your propagation. just a though jars and you can pull the sleeve down to see the roots
I L💚VE Pepperomia... I have two, both are Pixie Lime or Pixie Green. I call them the perfect book shelf plant as they’re compact but full, I definitely want to expand on them. Love your channel Sean... so informative! 🪴
Awesome video! I just got several peperomias today, and during transportation, one of the beautiful healthy leaves broke off. I’m going to try the leaf propagation method you shared. Thank you so much for taking time to make this video!
I found much more success with peperomias when I gave them lots of humidity. I agree about the leca. The roots are interesting, but I think in many ways it is actually more work.
Great video! I love this plant and adore your wooden structure in your garden! I took one leaf, plopped it into water and it grew roots really quickly! I was pleasantly surprised :)
I am new here in your channel and I love it, very educational. Thank you for sharing your time and your presentation about peperomia, this is what I need. Thank you 🙏
The solid green one is the very one I have! It was struggling however and I ended up putting outside in the back next to my house. Of course, it does not follow the houseplant rules it is growing and doing quite well even though we had quite a bit of rain this summer. Anyway since I put it in the ground the fun part will be digging it up and hoping it survives going back to standard houseplant care........:) Inside it did not like overwatering however outside in a natural environment it is quite happy!
Hi Sean. Ty for this my non variegated variety is not growing..so going to try to increase its light and propagate in Spring. I hope you and yours are well; emotionally, physically, and spiritually during these difficult times. 💞
Always enjoying your vid Kakak. Dan baru paham kenapa peperomia verigated aku ga nambah2 daunnya, cos you said the varigated one, id a slow grower. Terima kasih kakak.
I have the variegated version that's been in the same pot for years hanging on the side of my house. I have a picture of it on instagram. Just hanging the name if the plant it should show up. Very easy and beautiful
I found a half leaf variegated obtisifolia peps on the floor while plant shopping. Try to grew it and it turn into some kind of marble leaves not same as the parent plant. It grows as big as your grown plant in a year. Very easy plant doesny need much care👍
I propagated some leaves. They all took but I took the one with the best roots and repotted it. The first new leaf came out white which I was very happy about since it is the variegated one. The next next leaf is totally green. Not so sure what's up. I have given it more light and then less light trying for the variegation growth. The other cuttings are stuck in limbo. It has been over a year and no new growth. What do you think ???❤
If its a year then something must be wrong. These guys are quite fast to propagate. Fo you fertilize lightly? I would check the roots to see if they are ok…
I love that we don’t have to wait to see the progression!
You have a very informative channel, thank you.

Yes brighter light will help it grow faster, some direct sunlight is good for them but never afternoon/full sun.
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide an update on everything within the same video! It really helps with the instant gratification haha
I actually put mine in a very low light area and it has been growing very well. Super low maintenance!!!
And I love petting their leaves too. So waxy! 😍
@Reva Ferns Haha try it! 😆
Dust barely settle on the leaves because they are so shiny. Love ittt

Thank you 😀 do consider other peperomias too they propagate the same way.
the tiny baby peps from the half leaf cuttings are so cute 🥺
The last half leaf put out babies too! It happened quite suddenly. They are a bundle of joy to have
This was so informative, gentle and relaxing. So great to see the whole process with updates. Thank you.
Thank you for writing in ❤️

@@onlyplants thanks for this tip btw, I’ve literally just started cuttings with mine for the first time, lets hope to see roots in the near future!!
I love that you actually do an update on your propagation videos... let's beginners like me learn a lot... thank you for your educational videos
Yaye good luck on your propagations! They are very addictive and rewarding.

You’re most welcome. Try to give them cool temperature like an AC room, they do better. But can withstand many environments 😀

And I thank you too 😀 for the dose of positive encouragement.
Hello from Canada, the algies is cause from your glass jar, with an opaque container you would not have that problem! Love your videos!
Thank youu
I have propagated 4 branches of my friend’s peperomia. I can’t wait for them to root. Their heart shape and shiny leaves makes them unique. Thanks for the video.
These are one of my most favorite plants. My variegated one is white with a light green color throughout. The dark green is my favorite.
Your plants are beautiful. Thank you for taking time to show us the progress over time. I really enjoyed it!
You’re welcome 🥰
I love how excited you get about your plants, it's so sweet 🥰🌱

Leaf petting LOL! I love that!! 🥰🥰🥰
Buying this plant now because of you. Thanks for the very informative video. 😘 Keep the videos coming.
This plant is a classic and is very reliable grower. Hope you like it. Follow my care tips and prune often for a bushy plant

I love the cloudy weather

One of my first plants. I have the green and the variegated. I love pepperomias.

Peperomia is such an underrated plant!.I'm inspired by your channel. I hope one day we can get ours to look as smooth as yours does
Thank youu. I love peperomias they are very underrated (here in Indonesia)

Another super informative and fun video. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for this video! I love my peperomia plant and have never propagated it. You are so through and helpful 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
They look so nice after propagation. Big and bushy hehe
Love this video . I'll be doing this to my pep when winter is over. Thanks Sean!!
Love the background track!!!!!!!!
Thank youu. Thats my brother playing jazz in the background
I so enjoy your videos .and have learnt so much from you. such straightforward information.

you're amazing! i wish to have a friend like you who i can talk about all my plants and propagate all of them

Wow... very cool. thanks, Sean! I now think I will try my hand at a peperomia.

Haha maybe try propagating one for indoors, they can adapt quite well. And they look so nice when busy if you prune often
I wish I lived in a warmer place, your sunshine looks so good an warm. 24 degrees in NC, USA this morning 🥶
Whoaaa stay warm 😀 I miss the cold... haha
Hi Sean. Ty for this my non variegated variety is not growing..so going to try to increase its light and propagate in Spring. I hope you and yours are well; emotionally, physically, and spiritually during these difficult times. 💞
