This is a problem with all cars that use the same type of material, headliner material with sponge. After some time, the sponge burns and then the canvas starts to separate from it. I did repairs on Peugeot, Renault, Citroen, BMW, Mercedes, Lancia, Opel, Škoda, Seat, Volvo, Alfa Romeo, Toyota, Land Rover, Audi, VW, etc. My channel has videos from almost all of these brands listed.
Hi I’ve got mk5 from 2006. Whole ceiling disconnected and only hold him 4 side handles. Piss me off this so I’m planning take this off, brush off and that’s it. What do you think? Should be easy? I’m planning change car in about 3 months but can’t see in the mirror everyday all is hanging down like a sail lol
Hello. It can be done that way. The headliner shell is a flat surface, you can even repaint it. It will be better than being bare like that.. Good luck with the works
@@VDEdition1 Hi. mission complete.I riped this off. After take off all handles and front sun guards was probably 5minutes job. Gently came all off. Then I used wheel brush and almost all leftovers of this funny orange foam came off. Of course left some marks and I tried with white spirit but maybe it's a job for the future. Anyway on front vertical parts (where lining still is on, L and R side of windscreen) I made some brown marks from this glue/foam. What to use if for that? I though maybe Gyeon fabric cleaner, but I'm not sure if is strong enough. btw now after touch with white spirit all handles and roof lights etc. looks not bad. Creamy white handles on dark background. And nothing is hanging down anymore! Feeling successful. Tom
How long in general did it take to get the whole thing off as i see the video is mainly sped up? How annoying was it to put it all together again? Did you have any help putting it back on? Thanks!
It can be taken off and taken out in half an hour. During assembly, it would be good to have help until it is fixed at least in two places, then you can do it yourself. Before installation, you should check the hooks with threads, which are deformed and are very difficult to hit during installation if they are not prepared.
Just took me about an hour, ours is a higher trim package so I had some extra electrical connections etc. I suspect after I get it recovered, a spare set of hands will be helpful. One thing to note, every single one of those little "airbag" badges broke. I already have new ones on order.. LOL
To jeste najveci problem kod montaže. Oni metalni nosači sa pločicom u kojoj je navoj nakon prvog montiranja oni se deformišu i ona se pločica iskrivi, nekada ispadne i td. Moraš ih sve povaditi i ispraviti bočne strane koje su se iskrivile i ponovo ih vratiš. Jedino ćeš tako uspjeti sve montirati bez problema. I na ručkama su takođe isti nosači.
Ljepilo Dunlop LP, a školjka krovnog tapacirunga mora sva da se očisti od stare spužvice. Ako ne ide samo četkom onda mora i nitro razrijeđivačom da se opere.

Kad vracas nebo napred nosaci oko osvjetljenja trebaju da uklope u krov one metalne nosace sto nisu fiksni. Kako to uklopis sva cetiri ona?
