this is exactly what i was looking for straight to the point and clean video to show just how to get the job done ! thanks man im doing my 07 GLI Fahrenheit this weekend
I have a roll of original headliner material. Glad I watched this before attempting to remove it. The process seems straightforward with a few well-pointed-out techniques. redoing the interior of my Mk5 TDI
Hi Reece. Quick tip. Next timw when you decide to remove a headliner from sedan try ti do like this : 1. Slide front passenger seat in lowest position, bend it back to back seat. 2. There is gap between seat and seatbelt holder B pillar airbag. 3. Try to fold it little bit and get it through back door. It is a lot of easier.
Yes that's a great method too, we were going to make a video about removing the Jetta / Passat via rear drivers side door, to let everyone know the difference. Thanks for sharing 👍
Toyota normally doesn't have this issue because their car doesn't use lining material, either just plastic or material without foam inside. the thin foam make the touch feeling good
Hi Reece. Any tips for working on a golf where the plastic spacers behind the headlining board that the grab handles attach to are no longer attached to the roof if that makes sense? Having a tough time trying to get everything lined up with those tricky metal brackets that move the wee rectangle nuts that fall out of the brackets and the spacers all lined up to try get the screw started 😫
Yes that's what I'm thinking, as we did one a few months ago where the customer had seats out already. So I'm thinking the front drivers seat out next time, and slide it out the rear driver's door. We will give it a shot and record it on the next jetta that comes through, if we find its easier, the video will be shared here on this channel 😁👍
Lets get one thing straight,.. this car requires windscreen removal to get the board out and back in. That is the right way going about doing it.. theres just way to much risk in bending the board they way you do especially after renewing with original foam backed material.
I agree that the windshield removed can make removal and reinstallation easier without possibly flexing the board as much. However with experience taking it out either front passenger door or rear drivers side door can work too (depending on the car changes the door opening that is used). VW Passat and Jetta sedans would be more ideal via windshield to possibly prevent excessive flexing, but this video shows how we can do it via doors. Slightly carefully flexing the board works with great end results on our end (with experience). However some wide body older Jaguar roof boards would have to be bent almost 90° to do the door method, that's obviously when windshield removal is ideal.
@@Reece.wilson I'm with you, I have done one the same way,..out through the rear door and back in with seats removed,..as it was my first with this vehicle,.. the next I would definitely quote it with windscreen been removed and refitted..I also have many years of experience in auto upholstery hence why I always like going about doing things the right way.. quality is everything to me.
