    My Octavia has now nearly 150.000km and had barely any problems with it. Changing oil and filters every 10k - 12k kilometers.
    Only issue i have is with the ignition cables, i changed them three time so far, because they melt very easily, but bought some protection for them and everything is nice so far.
    This engine is like a little kid, take care of it and everything will be without headache.

    The 1.2 TSI engines built before 11/2011 had issues with the chain. They used to fail pretty early - sometimes at 30.000 km. After they re-engineered the system the problem was solved, but still it would be advised to replace the chain every 100.000 km.

    I have the 1.0 litre TSI 115 BHP found on the newer generation 6 Polos and my god does that thing pack a punch! Barely have to touch the throttle pedal and the car is about to take off, same with brakes super sensitive.
    Another thing I'll have to get used to is shifting. The car stays dead silent even at higher revs which means I sometimes forget to change gear. I was doing 15 mp/h on first gear and the engine wasn't making a sound....
    So far very impressed, but these modern engines/transmissions and gadgets are going to take me some time to get used to coming from an old 2010 Honda hatchback.

    I have a seat ibiza 1.2 tsi. And i have to say. For a small engine, it flies! Its obviously not Cupra performance. But it certainly has a hell of a punch! I upgraded from a 1.2 honda jazz that i added high lift Cams & Forged rods ETC. It was naturally aspirated. But due to those modifications, the reliability went WAY down. I love my Seat so far!

      I came from a 2010 hatchback with a 1.4 litre 150 BHP engine to a 1.0 litre TSI 115 BHP Volkswagon Polo gen 6 engine and the thing accelerates effortlessly. Barely have to touch the throttle and I'm already going well into 15 mp/h. The other thing with it is the engine is dead silent the entire time. So now I can't rely on sound for my gear shifting as my old car always roared at around 2k revs.

    Injector rail bolts randomly snap due to metal fatigue spraying petrol everywhere (20k miles). Leave it parked for a week and the engine management light and EPC light come on due to turbo wastegate sticking. Both expensive fixes that quickly offset any saving on fuel. Getting less than 48mpg. Not a good engine to work on.

    Oil consumption
    PCV failure causing other issues mainly rear seal leakage
    Timing chain tensioner failure causing major engine damage
    Direct injection causes intake valves and intake manifold to build up huge amount of deposits
    Bad sealing camshaft cover causing oild leaking on the water pump hose causing it to crack
    Coolant leak on the turbocharger actuator causing it the cease and engine runs weak.

      @@OnurKasemlar2 looks like I had the pcv valve problem. We are still not entirely sure if that resolved the issue. I will change the oil after few thousands of kilometers and then see if everything is fine. I had a lot of engine codes (p0441, p2237, p2195 and p0030) all related to vape and fume reflux and whole system didn't function correctly causing wrong engine's crankcase pressure and fumes. Had to change high pressure fuel pump and o2 sensor. And finally after p0041 we figured out it's tube on pcv valve that is bad and is not holding pressure. So looks like whole vape system didn't work at all, causing the engine working in rich all time.

      What you are experiencing might be the result of pre-ignition, caused by low octane gasoline. You could try high octane fuel ( 95/98 ) and see if the problem is solved or not. If this doesn't help I would go and visit an certified Volkswagen AG Servicecenter.

    • @xlp3880
      @xlp3880 6 років тому +1

      Abradon 01 thanks for your help. I’ve put a full tank of high octane fuel in and I’m half way through it but seems to of not helped so far. I’ve noticed it seems to ease off when the engine is up to to temperature, if also taken it to vw as it’s under warranty but as usual they’ve said there’s nothing wrong!

    • @tomluca2697
      @tomluca2697 6 років тому +2

      When I first got my A3 ( same engine ) I also thought there was something wrong with it and I took it to an Audi-Servicecenter, but they said it was nothing wrong. I now drove over 15000km with it, without a single problem.
      I would advice that right before your warranty ends you get it inspected again, just to be sure.
      But generally these engines last forever with good oil. Its especially important with small engines that your engine is warmed up to operating temperature ( first 4 km of driving ) before exceeding 2500 rpm.

    Worst engine to exist rather use a pedal bike than go through the hassle of maintaining one of these my 1.2 tsi in my mk3 leon is a pile of **** sounds like a desiel sometimes engin mangament lights randomly turning on esp lights wiered strange knocking/rattling noise during idle and between 1200 and 3000 rpms and no its not a problem with the chain as its got a timing belt...

      The diesel sound happens because the oil isn't circulating properly. They gave me a wrong oil filter in the store and I almost fried the top end because of that.

      Never heard of a 1.2 or 1.4 TSI engine burning oil. The 1.8 and 2.0 TSI yes, they do. Pretty much with the original fitted pistons.

      kushtrim musa thats actually a good consumption. Acceptable range is upto 500ml per 1000km. Use better quality oil
