I remember googling your marathon result to see you absolutely destroyed your previous PB. I find it interesting I was so happy for someone I’ve never met before!
I love the reminder "A tough patch, a bad patch, or a part of the race that feels like it just got a little bit harder out of nowhere, can end as quickly as it arises" - Phily Bowden
Enjoyed your tour inside the race of your life. The fact you dropped a16:53 in that last 5K split shows what an amazing race you were having until the very end. No fade - just pedal to the metal. And if anyone wants proof on how much you love Daniel, you gave him half of each of your doughnuts. Now that’s sharing and caring. Love the grind, Phily!
Phily, I know you must get thousands upon thousands of these, but here’s yet another! First marathon 2 days ago! Trained over a year, using your videos throughout for inspiration and guidance. your content is genuine, funny, entertaining and educational, all rolled into one, so THANK YOU for teaching so many of us the ropes, and to Love that Grind! oh, and congrats! PB 4 PB!! you rock!
Congrats again! And holy crap only like five minutes in, but had to comment. I forgot you’re back on your cycle and look at what you accomplished! Oh my God that’s such a message to high level athletes out there. That is just so. fantastic
Please keep using the coach Ron footage every time you mention him. Perhaps speed it up and/or trim it down each time for comedic effect. Love your work Daniel!
Such an inspiring message 🥲 I’ve run my first marathon one week ago at the age of 40 after 2 years running (before was couch and 12kg heavier). I ran my first marathon 3:29:53 after a building that had good and bad days, some easier or though workouts. But were you and Dan were a great inspiration 🙏🏼 thanks, sincerely ❤ love the grind
For just 2 years and with no offence intended, starting this late and still going sub 3:30:00 is massive! Congratulations! You should keep the 3 hour mark as a lifetime target and play the long game with some S&C and mobility work and drills.
So glad I landed on this channel months ago. It is a true inspiration. And Daniel is doing a stellar job chronicling the whole thing. Except for THIS ONE TIME.
Im 53 and besides 30 years ago in the army, never ran before last year. I have my first 1/2 marathon next weekend and I just want to say THANK YOU! Your openness and honesty about anxiety etc before your race is highly relatable right now for me 😅. I also want to say that despite the huge gap between your amazing abilities and mine, you are an inspiration for me to better myself on this new running journey of mine!
I absolutely loved this recap video. Couldn’t agree more about that feeling you get when crossing the finish line. If you ever do Chicago I’d love to cheer you on! Congrats!
I followed your example Phily and got nearly 4min of my PB time in Chicago to 3h05🤗Thanks for the inspiration you gave me through the videos you make day in day out🙌
Such an inspiring video. Probably my favorite so far. Got inspired by it and just took 1:55 off my 5k PR. Still a slow old guy but still making more progress than I expected after only getting serious about this stuff in April. Thank you for another great video.
Insane work Philly! You're so right about feeling awful during the taper! I felt so restless because I wasn't running as much, and didn't know what to do with myself. I'd also get random aches and pains that left me constantly worrying that I was injured. I ran my first half-marathon 2 weekz ago having only started running in February. I ran 2:15:50, when I didn't think I could run faster than 2:30 My first marathon is booked for Belfast in May, and I'm hoping to run under 4 hours. Your journey and this channel is a big inspiration for me!
OMG thank you sooo much for this video- I’m in my taper period and legit made an appointment with my PT bc my knee hasn’t felt good all week! Last week it was my calf! This makes me relax a bit more. You crushed it! Amazing job
i love watching your videos and how honest you are about every stage. you're truly an amazing human and such an icon! also pleeeaaasseeee do more bottles i was so sad to miss out!!
I discovered your videos after my bf told me about you because he watches your running experiences and training. I started watching you as well and while I am not a runner I find you very motivational and I want to thank you for inspiring both him and I to challenge ourselves. Yesterday I walked my first half marathon (again I hope to run one day but not a runner yet) and I really think you helped motivate me to do it and finish even though I was at the back of the pack. Thank you again and congratulations on your accomplishment!
Thanks Phily for this recap, I’m headed into a trail 32km seriously undertrained and I’m going to carry your euphoric vibes with me across the finish line. Congrats on smashing your goals.
So well deserved and love following your journey. From leaving your previous team and switching coaches, you faced tons of adversity and crushed it. Well done!
So happy for you, it’s really very moving to see that you managed to smash your goals, after having followed all your adventures! & It may sound strange, but on the day of your marathon, I was running a triathlon that I was looking forward to, and after my race I immediately looked forward to seeing what your marathon had done as I was quite excited for U 🤩
Congrats Phily, It’s not long since I follow your videos maybe a week before your marathon in Berlin, you did spectacular!! You have motivated me a lot, I hope next year to improve my personal mark in marathon (2'57). thanks for sharing and congratulations again.
I am so proud of you!! This is SO amazing and such an accomplishment - as well as a great video. I am also running my first major soon (NYC). Thank you for being such an inspiration and for creating such great content for us!
I have felt in a bit of a flunk with running but watching this video has lit me up a little again. After I got my first sub 20 5k, I kind of thought... well I've achieved that, so now what? My training has fluctuated since then and I have not had a sub 20 5k since then and the goal was to go for a sub 40 10k. Seeing you breeze through sub 3:30 for a marathon has made me think, 4:00 as a barrier is all in my head. So thank you, good luck for your next training block and I look forward to watching your progress :)
Amazing Phily 🥰Loved following your journey - so happy for you that you smashed your goals 💪 Started my new training block for my 2nd Half Marathon in December....'Love the Grind' is gonna be my motto for the Malaga Half Maro ❤
I’ve been following you for about a year. And, I’m so excited for your marathon PB! You’re an inspiration to us working on our own running goals! Thank you! Big time congratulations Phily! 👏💪🏼🏃🏼♀️❤️😎
It genuinely makes me emotional to see you shine and crush your goals like this Phily 🥹🥳😍 I’m so so happy for you!!! You are such an inspirational athlete and person to me and I hope to also run my first marathon within the next year. Love the grind ♥️🏃🏼♀️💨
Many congratulations bravo, new to your channel as a newbie 50+ runner you inspire me to keep going even when I feel like the oldest on the block thank you for your videos
Sending all the positive recovery vibes and may the Marathon Major era be long and fruitful… Also hopeful an inspiring kick down 1st Ave & 5th Ave into Central Park!!! “Once you have tasted flight [or you know, 🏃♀️], you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” -Leonardo da Vinci
An extraordinary recap by an extraordinary athlete. This is an amazing video showing how many variables and how hard it is to PB in a marathon. Thank you for sharing, theres probably 4 or 5 pieces of information that I can use, thank you so so much.
Good ol Kreuzberg. I used to live there. Your success is inspiring and my nostalgia watching this video is making me want to run the Berlin marathon despite being a masters 400/800 runner.
Thank you for sharing this, very inspirational. It was nice to watch this while taking in my post-run lunch having just been off my feet for the last 4 days with a cold. This just reminded me why I'm loving the grind.
Going for my long run and I'll watch the vid when I get back but.... congrats on your monster run. Keep believing and see you in LA 2028. Love from Trinidad and Tobago.
What I love - apart from how engaging these always are- is the ‘we took 3.5 minutes off my PB’ because sport on pretty much any level takes a village…but at this level there’s no I in Team even if there is a me. 👍
You are so awesome, Phily. Looking forward to another PB in Copenhagen 2025 😉 Have to add, that its remarkable how much you as a person have transformed and matured in just a few years. Be proud!
you are very entertaining and inspiring for new runners like me, hopefully, I can reach my goal for HM in december! And hopefully you'll have training plan for HM soon! Cheers keep creating
I Really enjoyed the content and Passion of the Video. Excellent 👍 It has made me look forward even more to the Venice Marathon in a couple of weeks coming all the way from New Zealand. Well done on your achievement and all the best in your running journey. 👏👏👏 Tom YNWA 😀
The first thing I did after I knew the marathon was over was check your time and I was so happy for you! What's the next goal? You're gonna crush it for sure!!!! Amazing
Huge congratulations on a massive PB, Philly. From what you posted in the buildup I think the improvement is down to; i) Longer stay at altitude - you are clearly a runner who benefits from training high! ii) Different coach/training routine. More volume than in previous marathon blocks. Double thresholds; is the main benefit of those days that you get ina big volume (must be 20 miles+ if you count two warmups and cooldowns) but maybe as many as 12 of those miles are good quality running - race pace or faster. iii) Simply reaping the benefits of years of solid training. No race result is merely the result of the training you do in the few months prior to the race. Future goals? Like fellow UA-camr Adam Fogg found when he ran his sub 3:50 mile, a lot of doors will open for you now in terms of race entries etc. Next year's world champs?
Amazing to have seen you succeed and reap the rewards of your incredible training. I struggled to maintain pace with the congestion way back from you but happy to get a good for age qualification for Chicago 2025 🥳. 100k subscribers defo going to happen 💪🏾 Thanks for inspiring videos 🙏🏾
“2 miles left that’s like 10 minutes of running.” Is a sentence I’ll never say. Epic well done.
I remember googling your marathon result to see you absolutely destroyed your previous PB. I find it interesting I was so happy for someone I’ve never met before!
I did the same 😂 I was so happy for Phily 😊💪
Yup me too, although did meet Phily and Dan at a Night of the 10k pb's 2yrs ago ☺️ but was blown away at the massive pb,
Yup guilty 😂
I did the same! 🎉
Phily, this insight into elite level thinking during a long race is amazing. You are not only great at running, you are an amazing communicator.
I love the reminder "A tough patch, a bad patch, or a part of the race that feels like it just got a little bit harder out of nowhere, can end as quickly as it arises" - Phily Bowden
I say you basically "sleep run" the first half, then race a half marathon. Looks like you did that 😊 Proud of you Phily!
3:20 per km in the final stretches of that marathon just blows my mind. You're a machine, Phily! Super congrats on the amazing PB =D
Enjoyed your tour inside the race of your life. The fact you dropped a16:53 in that last 5K split shows what an amazing race you were having until the very end. No fade - just pedal to the metal. This level of success was inevitable Phily, let's be honest! You're the real deal.
Congrats again! And holy crap only like five minutes in, but had to comment. I forgot you’re back on your cycle and look at what you accomplished! Oh my God that’s such a message to high level athletes out there. That is just so. fantastic

Oh my god that’s amazing??? After only 2 years of running wow
Thats an insane feat. Congratulations!

I'm running my first marathon in just a few days and I needed to hear all of this so badly. Thank you!

Fantastic run Philly! Running a half pb in the second half of the marathon is amazing!!
Found your channel through the previous Berlin marathon video! Really enjoying the content, really inspirational!
Marathons are f'ing brilliant. The feeling you get when finishing a big city marathon, especially if you happy with your performance, is amazing

Thank you for sharing this, very inspirational. It was nice to watch this while taking in my post-run lunch having just been off my feet for the last 4 days with a cold. This just reminded me why I'm loving the grind.
Wow!! What a pace👍Thanks to Dan🤗
That run is one of those runs where EVERYTHING aligns I feel. Nutrition, sleep, pre rest all of it even the breakfest on race days.
Knocking off 3 minutes... for some of us can take an endless time .... Phily all I can say is very well done there!!!
A phenomenal run - which even sounds like an understatement - and great video. Thank you and congrats!
Amazing!!! Love your videos phily - its been so pleasing to see all your relentless hard work pay off 🙌🙌 kudos!!

I just ran that same time! Just... for half the distance. So proud of our PBs!!!
