For me it was the "what's funny?" Scene from Goodfellas. In 2 minutes they go from laughing, to someone looking like they're going to get killed, and back to laughing. Shows you how tense and unbalanced some people are and how something small can get you killed even by your own friend.

@@karkkimarkkinat2109, improvising a scene which also calls out the ending - i.e. Henry ratting on the crew - is not overrated or cliché.
If you’re going to use both terms; at least explain _how_ they’re overrated and cliché. Otherwise, there’s no argument there.
If you could point to at least a dozen scenes which were improvised, foreshadows events, and gets the audience thinking for a slight moment that things will go in one direction but it goes another - I’d love to hear about it.

The opening of Godfather is one of my personal favorites. Here's this powerful man who is suppose to be celebrating his daughter's wedding is having to take care of business but he's very tactical and even told the guy he was talking to he should be thankful his daughter is alive bc that's justice. The purging scene of The Godfather is perhaps the most memorable and impressive to me. Every shots and camera angles arranged brilliantly, under the Catholic hymns of organ, makes it looked really powerful.
And also a scene in The Sopranos comes up to my mind, when Tony and Chrissy disposed the body of Ralph Cifaretto. They show the whole process uncut, uncensored which makes me goosebumps. So savage, but real!

"Leave the gun, take the canoli" personally immediately comes to mind, as well as the montage of hits in the finale of Godfather. Also, Don Corleone's journey back to his homeland for some good ol' revenge in Part 2 is so awesome.
As far as a goodfellas representative I have to say the best scene for me is when Batts is in the trunk and the boys visit with Tommy's mom after stopping by to borrow some cutlery. It seems so real and strangely sweet, subtlety hilarious, and simultaneously disturbing.
Casino's desert scene is my favorite mob scene ever, but the depiction of the M and M murders, the one with the head in the vice where pesci's delivery is so funny yet scary. Frankie, put him out of his f****n misery.
Not to focus on hits too much, but the 3 Capos Hit was so chaotic and the twist of an extra murder is truly jarring when watching Donnie Brasco for the first time
And it maybe cartoonish, but holy smokes you can't not think of Don Vincenzo Cochotti (Chris Walken) killing his first man since the mid-eighties in "the eggplant scene" opposite Dennis Hopper in "true romance"

He said "no one is going to steal my car"
      somebody stole his car.

Thanks , Michael , for your personal takes on the movies we love & have enjoyed for years . It's very interesting to read the comments , opinions & why people connect to & remember certain scenes . Also , many quotes from these movies have become part of our daily conversations & personally , I enjoy that when using a movie quote , the other person immediately picks up on it - that " hey-you-get-it-too ! I’ll vote for the scene where Michael tells of his plan to shoot the Turk and the police captain at dinner. I love how Michael steps up to the family obligations in that scene, how people first laugh it of, and how they then take him seriously. It was the first time he took real steps into the family business, but also his first step into the dark side that he would live to regret.

    1. The entire section of the Godfather where Sonny is attacking Connie's husband for hitting her. Something about those scenes, from Sonny realizing what happened to Connie to him throwing the husband into the trashcan has always stuck with me
    2. The scene from the Godfather Part II where Michael realizes Fredo is the one who betrayed him. The intensity of that scene, seeing Michael hold his older brother's head and tell him he broke his heart, was so captivating. Frank asks Russ what his name is, but Russ just looks at him from a moment, and then just asks him where he’s from. I don’t know, there’s just something about that that really stands out to me.
