Note: I made an oopsie woopsie when talking about the Mod case. There is no magnets involved in holding the power bank, it is only using the provided strap. My original script had it saying “it feels stronger than a magnet” but something got mixed up 😂 my bad
Modcases fan attachment is interesting and provides air directly to the unit. I don't use it because it is very loud. Maybe if I have it docked one day.
This is the first video I’ve found that shows how much of the air intake the Baseus power bank blocks. Which is not much. Now I’ve watched this I might get the mod case.
Jason, you said with a proper cable it helps charging. Is the cable that comes with the 65W pack you provided good enough or do you suggest another cable?
i wonder if steam could install thermal electric parts to the steam deck to make the battery last longer, basically what this tech does is it converts the heat the device already creates back into useful power that goes back into the battery, because otherwise it's just waste heat anyway, it's not going to power your device a whole lot, but it will at least help it not run out so damn quickly. but the thermal electric tech would have to be put within the heat sink somehow as that's where we want the heat to go anyway to help regulate the device temps.
Attaching the powerbank to the Deck is not the best idea anyway.🤔 The added weight is uncomfortable. A better idea is using a very flexible, silicone power cable. It allows the powerbank to stay in your bag (because on the go you always have a bag) without the cable causing any discomfort. 😉
Anker has always been my go to brand for power banks. Actually have 1 smaller one made by PNY that I have had for at least 15 years and it still works great also.
Im amazed about the quality of this video. You were absolutely spot on! One of the best videos I watched in a while. You also made me really curious about the cooling pad video. I'll watch it
Sir, I am just watching this. I love it. Especially the part about the cargo shorts. My Wife looked at me and asked, "Why is he talking about you like that?" And laughs. Love it!
Congrats for one of the most realistic videos about steam deck accessories I’ve ever seen. You just got a fan! I’m hoping to get the OLED soon, maybe in the end of the year

Man ! You just got yourself a new subscriber, great video ! I like that you are not overhyped over all the accessories like others UA-camrs but still keep a friendly way to recommend or not
an accessory I wanna see is a "toughbook" style shell that adds rubber gaskets around the joysticks, buttons etc as well as covers over the usb-c etc and a membrane of some kind on the fan ports, that could be a real gamechanger to those that are outdoorsy, on the road, in the military or otherwise need a toughbook
I really don't know anyone other than you apparently that wants to take this thing out in the wilderness where you could potentially destroy your $400+ gaming console.
@@Shadow_Hawk_Streaming yeah because they're actually using them for their intended use... which isn't gaming. Its a rugged, go anywhere laptop. The military are probably calling in airstrikes and laser designating targets. They're not sitting out there playing Cyberpunk and Hogwarts 🤣🤣
I cant thank you enough for the portable charger recommendation! Im an EMT and our ambulances don't have a specific charging port or cigarette charger port so i've been looking for one and all of the ones i've seen are just cheap knockoffs
Hands down the most underrated channel on UA-cam! Very entertaining and helpful at the same time! You’re a hidden gem Jason! I’ve never subscribed so quickly in my life. Keep it up brother☝🏻🔥
Not yet, still testing a lot of cooling devices. But I’ve been using the clear case for the past month and it’s been pretty great. It definitely feels less hot in my hands

7:06 Travel charger. I'm still looking for a travel charger/dock station that would allow me to play the Steam Deck using a portable monitor via USB-C connection for larger screen and the external monitor won't suck the power out of the battery. Is there such charger available to power both the Steam Deck and the portable monitor simultaneously to a wall outlet? The portable monitor that I have (Asus ZenScreen MB16AC) for the laptop also works directly with the Steam Deck however it's receiving power from the Steam Deck. The ZenScreen portable monitor only has one USB-C port, which means data and power delivery are supplied over the same USB-C.,

Thank you for this video i just recently got a 512GB model steam deck & have been looking for good accessories to go with it while avoiding junk or anything that might damage it. I've created a steam deck wish list from several of your suggestions.
I’ve been using a lot of them since it came out and haven’t had any issues. If you’re concerned, feel free to buy any of the docks or the official Steamdeck dock
Great video. Though I just saw an ad about an orange juice bottle next to cereal and now my tongue is traumatized just from imagining the taste. Great video none the less.
I came here to watch cool accessories for the steam deck as I will be purchasing one for myself for Christmas….while doing so I got roasted by the content creator for wearing cargo shorts…. You just earned a sub…
Little late to the show, but. Have you tested the deckmate? I've been wondering if i prefer to get that instead of the case you show with the strap, as I want it for the same purpose (strapping a Powerbank/external SSD)
I'm just watching this video because I just bought a Steamdeck. Thanks for all the great info. One question about the bag. Will it hold an iPad mini and a Kindle where you showed the Switch was stored? Thanks!
You've earned my like when you said "you're watching this video, so I'll assume you wear cargo pants". I actually don't, but thanks for the consideration 😂
Great tips and products in this video!Glad I discovered this channel. Just got my Steam Deck (refurb 256 GB) and a Samsung Evo Select 512 GB SD Card. So far the SD card is slightly slower loading games than the SSD, but not much. And games like “Cyberpunk 2077”, “Elden Ring”, and “One Piece Odyssey” run great on it. (Looking at the card it is an A2 but was only $35 on Amazon).
That's awesome to hear! I'm actually really glad to know the games don't run any slower on a microSD card and only launch slower. I had no idea that's how it worked, since I'm a complete newbie to technical specifications.
I'd really suggest checking out thingiverse and picking up the file for a power brick insert that fits in the back of the deck case and acts as a stand. There was even one made for the US plug with micro SD slots. I've previously used 3d hubs to get stuff 3d printed for me, but use whatever service you like.
I got a 64GB Deck and bought a 512GB Samsung MicroSD card that works great. A few months later I swapped the SSD with a 512GB Samsung SSD. Behind that, I also have a 256GB MicroSD that I keep in my case that has Windows installed on it. So if there's ever a game I want to play that doesn't work on Linux I can just pop in the MicroSD and fire up Windows. I keep mine in a MicroSD to standard SD card adapter that is VHB taped to the little air pocket inside the Decks case. Has been there for about 6 months and is rock solid, it's a great solution. I also take my Deck on the go more than most. It's awesome to play the deck at night near the fire when camping. Or bring a hammock to the park and play on a nice day. I highly recommend a Matte screen protector. You do lose a little sharpness, but if you actually take your Steam Deck outside it's a necessity (unless you have the 512GB variant.) I have the rectangular 30,000 Baseus PD Power Bank and it's awesome. But I wish I sprung for the more expensive flat 20,000 Baseus version. It's less capacity but I'm fine with that, the form factor looks much better. Lastly, I use a similar charger to the one in the video with one of the 90 degree USB C adapters. I also use an Anker USB C cable that is much softer and more flexible than any other cable I've ever seen. It makes it much more manageable to use while plugged in. Similar idea to gaming mice that use the Paracord style cables. It's great.
It would be interesting to see the clear backing with the thermal pads paired with a fan placed directly over that spot to see if it dissipates heat better.
If you have a 3d printer, JSAUX gives out the model for the back clip for the case, to do pretty much whatever ya want with it. Currently have a usb dock holder, that also holds an external nvme, and is also a stand. (Because the one that comes won't work with my external on.) But somethin to think about. 😄
I've been looking at that Clear back shell, My friend has a Deck but no idea how computers work let alone mods So I get to play with it while upgrading his lol
Hey there I got a time sensitive question. After watching your video, I picked up the Baseus Power Bank (65w) but when I plug it into my steam deck, I get the slow charge warning is this normal?
I am waiting long term about Jsaux back plate with the thermal pad if doing more harm then good. There little channel on the heat shield on the steam deck that let some more air flow from the area be pulled away, but I do like the back buttons changeable that comes with it.
I would've liked a review of the dbrand Killswitch kit. Jt looks way cool but a bit excessive. Im gonna go with a shell swap and maybe the tomtoc bag. I really want an sfbags city slicker though it wont fit a powerbank
I have the dbrand Killswitch case and it's amazing. It came with stick covers (Portal colors: one blue and one orange) and a skin/wrap of my choosing. The locking/removable kickstand and additional locking device/extra battery holding attachment is fantastic, too.
5:35 Female viewers are also here to get advice on steamdeck accessories. And since my style is more yoga pants or leggings, this more thin and square like Baseus is def more of my thing. I'd take it with my purse or Tomtoc bag as an upgrade to my old cellphone power banks. Cheers for the advice!
So I've been looking for a charger than I can play and charge at the same time (that isn't the dock), the 100w seems to work well? Because I have bought a few and it always says slow to charge and basically doesn't work while playing.
I have that jsaux case on .y steam deck. It's a good fit and finish compared to what else is out there but the plastic seems like it needs to be hardened a bit. After coming on and off several times it's grown loose and bendy. I am thinking about heating it a bit to stiffen the plastic. Conpared to what i am used to working with it's very clumsy but as far as handheld console accessories go, it seems pretty good outside of the smushy plastic.
By the way, for anybody curious for what the music is in the background, it is "Way Home" by Tokyo Music Walker. Anyway, this is a great video! Love it!
I wonder if you can use the JSAUX doc with an SSD to dual boot into Windows. I have a laptop that I use as a desktop with a built-in UPC, the Deck is probably strong enough to replace it. That's getting the ole knogin joggin.
for begs/cases for my steamdeck i went with one that is still more or less a case very similiar to the one that came with the steamdeck, just abit bigger and it has a bit of extra storage space inside, enough for my (smaller)docking station and hdmi cable
The only accessory I currently have is a dock. I just made sure it had ethernet, HDMI and USB 3.0 ports, there were some that had only usb 2.0 or a 3.0 port and 1-2 2.0 ports. Mine has 3 3.0 ports which is all you could ever need, I also do have a USB extension that belonged to my late step-dad. It has 10 USB ports a USB connection with a 20 inch cable and it's own built In power switch.
Try the nreal augmented reality glasses. Plug and play with the deck. Even extends battery life because the energy the glasses draw from the deck is less then the energy required to run the decks native screen. The best part is you get a 130 inch oled screen.
@@JasonWitmerYT They are. I was skeptical at first. I like that you don't need a docking station or anything extra to use them. They also plug a play with Samsung galaxy phones with the dex feature. This is how I watch my streaming services now. Also they draw their power from whatever device they are connected to. I just lower the brightness on my phone because it had its on internal brightness levels. The best part is the looks like a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses. They also have a optional cover to black them out completely or the remain semi transparent.
In regards to the Jsaux carry bag. Do you know if it will accommodate the Dbrand Killswitch with or without the travel cover attached? The killswitch 2.0 (no magnet) version that is. Thanks
Note: I made an oopsie woopsie when talking about the Mod case. There is no magnets involved in holding the power bank, it is only using the provided strap. My original script had it saying “it feels stronger than a magnet” but something got mixed up 😂 my bad

Conpared to what i am used to working with it's very clumsy but as far as handheld console accessories go, it seems pretty good outside of the smushy plastic.
does the jsaux case fit in the standard deck carrying case?
@philemonzz i'll give it a try real quick but probably not with the cover. With the cover it barely fits in the jsaux case.
@@philemonzz i am pleasantly surprised to say yes, it does. Even with the cover on. And about the same as it does in the jsaux case.
You got my sub at "You're watching this, you wear cargo shorts"
Skull & Co thumb grips for the sticks is the first accessory you need to buy for your Steam Deck. Especially if you play 3d action games
By the way, for anybody curious for what the music is in the background, it is "Way Home" by Tokyo Music Walker. Anyway, this is a great video! Love it!
Anyone have some tips for a good stand? Ideally one that will fit in the case as well?
If you’re looking for a thick one, they sell adjustable vertical laptop stands that might work well 👀
really appreciate if you could tell the background music?
I wonder if you can use the JSAUX doc with an SSD to dual boot into Windows. I have a laptop that I use as a desktop with a built-in UPC, the Deck is probably strong enough to replace it. That's getting the ole knogin joggin.
I can confirm that you 100% can do this!
I even did a video where I replaced my computer with a Steamdeck for awhile and it worked out just fine
for begs/cases for my steamdeck i went with one that is still more or less a case very similiar to the one that came with the steamdeck, just abit bigger and it has a bit of extra storage space inside, enough for my (smaller)docking station and hdmi cable

Cheers mate 🙏
Since you are able to poke fun at yourself, I don't need to. Well done. :)
This is literally everything I wanted to know about the steam deck great video
You're right...I do wear cargo shorts! 😂😂
Can the steam Deck be played while plugged into charger?
How do the games look on tv? I understand the resolution is lower than 1080p.
Yes it’s encouraged to play on charger as it bypasses the battery. Looks good on tv! Upscale looks nice
Try the nreal augmented reality glasses. Plug and play with the deck. Even extends battery life because the energy the glasses draw from the deck is less then the energy required to run the decks native screen. The best part is you get a 130 inch oled screen.
Bruh id love to try them they seem really cool but hella expensive haha
@@JasonWitmerYT They are. I was skeptical at first. I like that you don't need a docking station or anything extra to use them. They also plug a play with Samsung galaxy phones with the dex feature. This is how I watch my streaming services now. Also they draw their power from whatever device they are connected to. I just lower the brightness on my phone because it had its on internal brightness levels. The best part is the looks like a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses. They also have a optional cover to black them out completely or the remain semi transparent.
Rokid Max is also noted for people who want higher refresh rates.
@@Aereto Whats the refresh rate on those? Nreal can get up to 90hz.
Imma try to get review units of both 🤞🤞
In regards to the Jsaux carry bag. Do you know if it will accommodate the Dbrand Killswitch with or without the travel cover attached? The killswitch 2.0 (no magnet) version that is. Thanks
Yep it’ll fit!
