Note: I made an oopsie woopsie when talking about the Mod case. There is no magnets involved in holding the power bank, it is only using the provided strap. My original script had it saying “it feels stronger than a magnet” but something got mixed up 😂 my bad
Modcases fan attachment is interesting and provides air directly to the unit. I don't use it because it is very loud. Maybe if I have it docked one day.
This is the first video I’ve found that shows how much of the air intake the Baseus power bank blocks. Which is not much. Now I’ve watched this I might get the mod case.
Jason, you said with a proper cable it helps charging. Is the cable that comes with the 65W pack you provided good enough or do you suggest another cable?
i wonder if steam could install thermal electric parts to the steam deck to make the battery last longer, basically what this tech does is it converts the heat the device already creates back into useful power that goes back into the battery, because otherwise it's just waste heat anyway, it's not going to power your device a whole lot, but it will at least help it not run out so damn quickly. but the thermal electric tech would have to be put within the heat sink somehow as that's where we want the heat to go anyway to help regulate the device temps.
Attaching the powerbank to the Deck is not the best idea anyway.🤔 The added weight is uncomfortable. A better idea is using a very flexible, silicone power cable. It allows the powerbank to stay in your bag (because on the go you always have a bag) without the cable causing any discomfort. 😉
Anker has always been my go to brand for power banks. Actually have 1 smaller one made by PNY that I have had for at least 15 years and it still works great also.
Non stock charger "YES", others things.... Naah, depends... My stock case is enough to me, even with safety bunper (sorry, eng not my native). Any other upgrades is useless, exept Dock station, good archive to desktop games, when KB + Mouse required)
an accessory I wanna see is a "toughbook" style shell that adds rubber gaskets around the joysticks, buttons etc as well as covers over the usb-c etc and a membrane of some kind on the fan ports, that could be a real gamechanger to those that are outdoorsy, on the road, in the military or otherwise need a toughbook
I really don't know anyone other than you apparently that wants to take this thing out in the wilderness where you could potentially destroy your $400+ gaming console.
@@Shadow_Hawk_Streaming yeah because they're actually using them for their intended use... which isn't gaming. Its a rugged, go anywhere laptop. The military are probably calling in airstrikes and laser designating targets. They're not sitting out there playing Cyberpunk and Hogwarts 🤣🤣

Great tips and products in this video!Glad I discovered this channel. Just got my Steam Deck (refurb 256 GB) and a Samsung Evo Select 512 GB SD Card. So far the SD card is slightly slower loading games than the SSD, but not much. And games like “Cyberpunk 2077”, “Elden Ring”, and “One Piece Odyssey” run great on it. (Looking at the card it is an A2 but was only $35 on Amazon).
That's awesome to hear! I'm actually really glad to know the games don't run any slower on a microSD card and only launch slower. I had no idea that's how it worked, since I'm a complete newbie to technical specifications.
So I've been looking for a charger than I can play and charge at the same time (that isn't the dock), the 100w seems to work well? Because I have bought a few and it always says slow to charge and basically doesn't work while playing.
Just got mine with 20% off :D This thing can run RDR2 and CyberPunk better than my PC haha! Battery life is impressive too. Best purchase ever! Getting used to the controls is still taking a bit of time, but other than that, great!
I love the Jsaux hard case. Mine lives in there now. The only shame is that it's not something you're gonna want to take off and on regularly. It is tight. So skins are kind of a waste. I just wish they offered other colors and patterns for the case. I'm sure they would sell like crazy.

Personally I just went with the official dock, cause I don't trust other dock makers after what happen with the Nintendo Switch ones. Since most docks tend to cover the ventilation part and most USB ports and or provide USB2.0 ports and not 3.0. Besides, valve updates the dock firmware constantly, if anything was working poorly a few months ago, most likely got fixed by now. Oh and I'm yet to find any accessory that connects to the SteamDock that doesn't work.
You'll want to immediately move all shadercaches and compatdatas to SDcard if you have 64gb Steamdeck. I have 10gb left in my internal storage and 4 sdcards hundred of games installed, I planned to get ssd later on tho. Wait I don't think Jsuax mod case uses magnet tho.
If you have a 3d printer, JSAUX gives out the model for the back clip for the case, to do pretty much whatever ya want with it. Currently have a usb dock holder, that also holds an external nvme, and is also a stand. (Because the one that comes won't work with my external on.) But somethin to think about. 😄
7:06 Travel charger. I'm still looking for a travel charger/dock station that would allow me to play the Steam Deck using a portable monitor via USB-C connection for larger screen and the external monitor won't suck the power out of the battery. Is there such charger available to power both the Steam Deck and the portable monitor simultaneously to a wall outlet? The portable monitor that I have (Asus ZenScreen MB16AC) for the laptop also works directly with the Steam Deck however it's receiving power from the Steam Deck. The ZenScreen portable monitor only has one USB-C port, which means data and power delivery are supplied over the same USB-C.,
Not yet, still testing a lot of cooling devices. But I’ve been using the clear case for the past month and it’s been pretty great. It definitely feels less hot in my hands
Love, love, love my modular case; BUT!! The stand, while very well made with some great heft, is as loose as a Kardashian. I don't know how you would tighten it, so it flops like James Harden, which is probably a byproduct of the heavy/well-made attachment, but I find myself holding it to the console rather than the more comfortable grips. Overall, dude, that thing rules.
Little late to the show, but. Have you tested the deckmate? I've been wondering if i prefer to get that instead of the case you show with the strap, as I want it for the same purpose (strapping a Powerbank/external SSD)
its kind of crazy in some places - its not a very popular product so if there is short supply in your country, it might be higher price. Feel free to use ebay or your countries used goods websites for better prices.
I'd really suggest checking out thingiverse and picking up the file for a power brick insert that fits in the back of the deck case and acts as a stand. There was even one made for the US plug with micro SD slots. I've previously used 3d hubs to get stuff 3d printed for me, but use whatever service you like.
The steam deck does not Ben if it from chargers exceeding 45w and it comes with a 45w charger. No power bank is going to charge it any faster than the brick so claiming that bank is going to charge it “very quickly” or that the 100w power bank is going to do anything more than the other one is extremely misleading.
for begs/cases for my steamdeck i went with one that is still more or less a case very similiar to the one that came with the steamdeck, just abit bigger and it has a bit of extra storage space inside, enough for my (smaller)docking station and hdmi cable
The only accessory I currently have is a dock. I just made sure it had ethernet, HDMI and USB 3.0 ports, there were some that had only usb 2.0 or a 3.0 port and 1-2 2.0 ports. Mine has 3 3.0 ports which is all you could ever need, I also do have a USB extension that belonged to my late step-dad. It has 10 USB ports a USB connection with a 20 inch cable and it's own built In power switch.
i dont think i will need more than 512gb of storage that comes with it because i dont play much variety just the same stuff i bought a used 512 version for the price of the 64gb version and it was used like 2h
Btw be warned with a non name brand sd card, they will kinda have slower download speeds for games so downloading really big game I suggest to do before bed or something like that (turn off sleep mode as well) AND my biggest issue. When you download something and opening a game is like impossible because of the game downloading/updating stuff. Games sometimes auto update as well. What I did for this solution if I open my steam deck and it starts updating something but I want play a game, just turn the auto update to something like 4am basically it will never update unless you play at those times. Well you can take that SD card off the list. Formatting that on the deck is IMPOSSIBLE 😡
Thank you for this video
Beasus is unreliable as hell. I still fail to understand why its being promoted almost on every youtube video.
Rest great video.
For micro Micro as card I have SanDisk extreme pro. I bit pricey but definitely worth it
Cargo shorts are for the younguns =/ I'm in my 30s and can't stand cargo pockets, they look tacky.
I love the info on this video, but like, are you ok? You make a lot of jokes about people who watch you and yourself.
BRO THANK YOU SO MUCH
"And honestly you're watching this video so you probably do wear cargo shorts" 😂😂😂 deserved a like and a comment, big ups on the vid bro.
I have that 65w baseus battery and can attest IT IS AMAZING. It charges my phone, and other accesories SO FAST. Get it. Its good.
What strap are you using to hold the battery bank on the back of the Steam Deck?
That is how the mod case holds it on actually! I said magnet but I meant strap haha. Comes with the mod case
I've been looking at that Clear back shell, My friend has a Deck but no idea how computers work let alone mods
So I get to play with it while upgrading his lol
Haha that’s awesome. I actually kept the clear one on mine as well
Sir, I am just watching this. I love it. Especially the part about the cargo shorts. My Wife looked at me and asked, "Why is he talking about you like that?" And laughs. Love it!
Hahahaha thanks for watching!
2:31 my Deck has bricked 1 dongle and 1 dock. I know that sounds weird to read, but it is the unfortunate truth
