    What a great interview. I can't believe anyone would think this guy is too "old school". Main thing is he passed on his way of doing things to enough guys over the years. A pleasure listening to the podcast as usual

    Was fortunate to have Mike as my lieutenant in 44. He’s aces and always took care of his men..a true gentleman and one of the best officers I ever had the pleasure to work with. Good luck in your retirement brother hope to see you soon!

    " we just kept on work in"...... That's what separates the men of the past from so much of what things have become today..

    Mike Everett's a GREAT guy! He worked with some other legends in 33 Truck (Jimmy Graney, Brian Fink, Garrett Lindgren, among many others)
    "33 Who" was hilarious...for 44, anyway. For about 14 months 44 was in with 42 Engine and occassionally ran in head to head with 33. Having 2 Tower Ladders on the 1st Alarm wasn't really optimal.
    Funny stuff! GREAT guys...different era!

    These stories about the old firehouse and such,, sounds like back then dighting fire was a priority, , today in so many carriers, the title is the last thing on the list that's worried about, and everything else comes first. Maybe that's why guys in the 50s thru the 70 s had such a rep for getting it done.. Because they did...

    There was an episode with a guy from the 70’s ladder 30 I think. When I started watching it the guy didn’t remind me of a brother and didn’t watch any further. Now I can’t find it in the playlist. Does anyone know what episode I’m talking about? I’m pretty sure he was a Harlem guy.

    I don't know if it's a horrible tradition you carry your own out or it's a wonderful tradition because you gave respect to your own fallen he was carried out by their own members I'm just conflicted how I look at it.

      they would swap out busier companies with slower ones to give them a break on night tours...during that time.

    • @44JMK
      @44JMK 4 роки тому +1

      It's Inter-Change...they'd have slower Companies detailed to some the busier Units, as Lou & Kevin said.
      They'd have Companies inter-change, often across borough lines.
