The details that Chief Tracy gives with his stories is incredible! I can’t get enough. I could listen to him for days.

I could listen to his stories all day. He’s so right when he was talking about the fire chemistry. If we had a doubtful and we could get a good shot at it we hit it with the deck gun with the 2nd due engine. We called it dumping the monitor. Thanks for sharing Chief

Love this chief. "Have an open mind". Spraying water in to the smoke to cool en to inert the smoke an flammable gasses wthin.
This USA and euro tactics coming together. This is golden. FDNY manpower , with "ladder 3" tasks descriptions + euro and NIST = succes.

FDNY firefighters blow my mind with how senior Salty's can recall so much and remeber the plethora of engine, truck, rescue, etc. companies, to include locations and situations! I love listening to thier stories, experiences, and how they handled complexities of the situstions faced!

We must be able to realize that some things will never change when it comes to fire....that's application of water prior or ready to apply before opening up!

It is sad to see these old timer extrememly experienced, knowledgable, educated, and full of wisdom fire chief (leaders)! I love the philosphy of allowing lower company officers the freedom and liberty to make their own decisions! I think we often restrict the liberty for others to grow and expand by constantly taking over (assuming) command!

So true. This is a TRUE Chief. He is a wealth of wisdom and knowledge. He is a perfect example of how a Chief can help his company officers to grow as leaders and be able to make command decisions on their own. There is often a change of command as the incident grows and then is under control. He believes in his people and knows how to help them to rise to the occasion one be their best. He is not a micro manager and the company are not afraid to step up. He is a Chief’s Chief, and they are few!

Being a retired firefighter (captain) I hate to ask this probably very stupid question; what are cheaters?

IT WAS A MOUTH PIECE THAT COULD ATTACH TO A SCOTT MASK INSTEAD OF HAVING A FULL FACE MASK ON IT WAS JUST A MOUTH PIECE LIKE THE BOTTOM OF A SCUBA SNORKEL .It was easy to just put in your mouth and breathe only through mouth .alot of guys used them to get in to fire faster you could actually see better . The Chiefs hated us using them.
      excuse my typing

Also a face piece with the netting removed and a bite bar which is threaded rod with tape or plastic around it you bite down and hold it that way
