- We rescued a lot of horses from the slaughter pipeline today, and you can watch the assessment and intake process in today's Buyout Intake and Assessment (Almost Live.) There are such horrible injuries and examples of pure evil, it will be hard to watch.

If you didn't already know: Skydog Sancutary in Oregon works to reunite mustang families from horses captured by the BLM and others that have been adopted and need new homes. The brand on the mustang can identify the management area that the individual was from. Skydog relys on years of photography and person interaction with the horse bands to identify family groups. They go to great lengths to recover band members and return them to their 9000 acre ranch in Oregon to be free once more. It seems like you are getting quite a few mustangs, and I wanted you to know - in case you don't - that there is a resource for them.
I follow Skydog Sanctuary to and they are awesome, and really help reuniting the American Mustang with their family and can trace their bloodline
I hope Horse Plus responds. I am all for keeping Mustang families together.
@@ddawe31635 , me too , it would help so many Mustangs
I respect Dr Gina for trying but sadly I think the outcome was clear , when he had no fight at all left , I don't blame him though 😢 rest easy sweet angel
It is INFURIATING to see these equine in this WRETCHED CONDITION at the hands of HUMANS! We can and must DO BETTER!!!
PLEASE contact your lawmakers and pass the laws stuck in committee that would end this slaughter of our American equine!!! Be persistent, PLEASE. For these guys who canNOT speak for themselves!
America needs far better animal cruelity laws, no animal even livestock should be allowed to be starving like that. This episode with the downed horse made me cry, completely heartbreaking.
I so agree with America needing better animal cruelty laws. 💯
Jo
Its just appalling. Here in the UK it would be illegal to even load up and transport most of these horses. Plus owners would be prosecuted for neglect.
Here in Kentucky, we are second to last in animal cruelty laws. It’s sickening.

Well, your next president won't give a damn about people.
Much less for animals...😢
R.I.P, sweet little black lady. Many people around the world have tears in their eyes, because you had to suffer so much pain and could not survive. 💔💔💔💔
I just love watching Dr Lydia work with the horses. She has such a lovely bedside manner.
The emotion for me is anger, and then I cry. People MUST be held accountable for animal cruelty! Most animals are more loving and caring than humans.
Thank you for helping that poor downed guy.😭😭..lots of tears, its SO hard to watch.... I DON'T understand why criminal charges are not pressed against people who treat animals like this.
That poor horse just basically gave up. I'm so glad he didn't get shipped to slaughter. That salt and pepper mini was so cute and so well behaved. He had to have been somebodies pet. I hope he can be again even with that leg.
That blind red horse broke my heart. He was such a sweet, scared baby.
My heart is shattered seeing how many horses are neglected but this guy.. coming off the trailer finally to freedom.. just to take his last breath… thankyou for your kindness and showing him relief and true freedom in the end .
Wow,this is a tough buy out😢. There was no hope for that 12 year old black gelding. Thank you for releasing him from his suffering. RIP sweet boy 🌈🐎
God bless you all for everything you do for these poor souls. Many look like their tails were chewed off due to hunger. So sad to see such beautiful horses starved like this! Thank you for giving that poor horse that was down the love and last act of kindness, probably the only care he ever had. Run free poor boy!
The horses from the first trailor look fairly decent nobody too bad looking
@@tammywooley2635Those were from an individual who was reducing her herd as they had become too much for her, not from a horse trader that sells for slaughter as the others were.
@@trudypowell8303
What???? The horse that was down in the first trailer had to be drug off the trailer and euthanized.
This really makes me boil inside. I'm a rescuer myself. I take in cats that are abused and thrown out like trash. I just can't understand why people have to be so abusive toward any animal. They depend on us for care, and to see these horses in such bad shape makes me cry. I also have a horse, and he always comes before my needs. Poor babies deserved better. The one that went down broke my heart. 😢😢
Agreed. Makes me boil, too.
@horselady4tn We have A LOT in common!! We have cats of our own, PLUS we foster cats and kittens! We also take in rescue horses!! When shelters or other rescues are overwhelmed, we step in and do everything possible to get the horses adoptable!! My husband, and 2 grown kids are at a loss for words when it comes to understanding WHY or HOW people can do these HORRIBLE THINGS TO ANIMALS!! We NEED to get LAWS CHANGED!! 🤠TIPPIN’ OUR HATS TO ‘HORSE PLUS’ FOR ALL “EVERYONE” DOES THERE!! FOR HORSES, CATS, AND DOGS!!!!!!!!!

Please stay strong Vet team. Your kindness and care is so important. We all arrive in this world and eventually depart. Thank you for showing love to the poor horses who - thank goodness - arrive at Horse Plus - and who can take their last breaths in peace.
Thank you Dr. Lydia...good work.
The crew was absolutely perfect, what a team!!!
It's so sad what some humans do.. it's horrific to see this and even more heartbreaking what that poor mustang has gone through...
Rough start doesent cut it poor soul unnecessary suffering so incredibly sad bless the way Dr Lydia handled it all leading the team well done you guys sending love and hugs ❤
Drs. Lydia and Gina are each one-of-a-kind. This is heart-wrenching grueling work. They are true professionals who treat each horse with dignity and grace. And help those who cross the Rainbow Bridge with gentle kindness. Thank, you, Doctors.🌈🥕🥕🐎
I‘ve said it before: The HPHS team is so amazing - compassionate, gentle, loving. You give the horses your all even though you know some are beyond saving. And every time your hart breaks a little more 💔
Prayers for the whole team, you’re a blessing for horses 🙏🏻🧡
Thank you all, wonderful lifesavers
It was sad to se that horse down. What a horrific trip for that poor horse. Glad he got some TLC before he had to go. Thank you for being there for him. You do an awesom job for this animals. Bless you all.
Thank you for saving the horses, I don't mind admitting that I couldn't do what you do, and I appreciate it's not easy for you either. But I'm glad you can save the horses. ❤
Tears, lots tears. But also joy, not one more dies alone and the last act of kindness. That’s why I am a member. Thank you so much for sharing what the reality is for these Horses and others animals..
From the get go, this intake had a heartbreaking start with a horse down in the trailer. and he did not make it. Several others were in bad shape, partially blind, and yes, just thrown out into the trash. I don't know how human beings can be so cruel. This slaughter pipeline must be stopped. Our country has to pass a NO SLAUGHTER LAW and individuals have to become accountable. I don't know how to do this as our world has become out of control. Thank you, HPHS for saving who you could today. I watch every episode and cry every episode. I am the proud owner of my 7th horse since I was 10 years old and treat each of them like they were royalty. Can't fathom any of them ending up with a horrendous death. God bless you all people of HPHS.💔😠🙏🐴🦄
the problem is, there actually IS no slaughter in the US, as far as I know, I'm in Europe. So, they ship the poor things from one auction to another and from there, finally, to Mexico or Canada. Many of the creatures would end their horrors sooner if there were slaughter facilities in the US (please correct me if I am wrong there). As cruel as it might seem: The shipping and trading the sickest and sadest further and further is the worst part. Please kill me, call me names, if you feel like it, but death is by far not the worst. The pushing around, no food, no water, unattended sickness and wounds and issues, bad handling prolonged, THATS worst.
Its human obligation to let a sick or injured animal, GO FAST BEFORE long suffering, in case there is no treatment possible. My own horse went this way, no slaughtering, no hauls, no giving him away after 26 years. It was my plight and responsibiliy to be together until the end. If you can't, don't take ANY animal in your hands.
Personally, I would not eat horse meat, but many in Europe do, i. E. more frequently in Austria, France or Italy, and its meat like any other. The point is the "harvest method" which is often horrible - for any kind of animal, pigs, sheep, cattle, poultry, rabbits, whatever: The long hauls, the conditions. Here in Europe, its illegal to slaughter horses that had medication before, they have to be put down otherwise. So far... well, some go around that. Some years ago, a bunch of jerks illegally imported loads of poor sick critters from Romania, and sold them for very cheap lasagne. (They haul them anyway from east of Europe to south of Europe, lets say). It was a scandal, the meat wrongly declared, of course (major crime in Europe!) and a running joke about supermarket food ... humans are.... incredible, after cheap meat... already like Zombies.
Resume: All that long haul business of living meat has to be stopped for good, thats the point. The slaughter inhibition is good for nothing. (please protest if I am wrong! concerning laws).
2 horses down in that trailer 😢 Jennifer
To think that horse that was down in the trailer was going to have to endure the journey to Mexico - I can’t even imagine the horror story that unfolds there. It’s a bloody disgrace. Why the hell doesn’t the USA slaughter their own horses.
@@sallynolan5928 its also a disgrace of owners to bring animals into this state and then sending them away no matter what. Thats another core problem.
@@MollyGrue1US did allow slaughter and that was banned.Right now, there is the SAFE ACT -Saving Americas Forgotten Equines Act that would end the export of equines for slaughter..If passed, the owners would not have an easy way of dumping horses at livestock auctions.
I love watching Haley with animals. Her energy is calm. She will be a great veterinarian because she is awesome now.
Oh no....that thumbnail of the horse collapse outside the trailer is rough. My heart is already broken.
Its so heartbreaking to of seen that horse just stay down and not get up. So much abuse it just gave up on life.
Glad to see both sides that not every horse can be saved, but also glad to be able to see alot of horses this round were able to be saved and are adoptable!
This was a rough intake. Love how all of you talk so calmly and quietly to each horse.
Great job by the team. Thank you for putting that first horse out of his misery. The owners of that adorable mini probably got $100 or so for him. Don't know how they can live with themselves.
Heartbreaking for the horse that was down thank god it ended up with you getting kindness for last few minutes. 😢
😢
I am so sorry.. crying and praying.😢❤
❤❤blessing to all HP Team members. You helped those who have no voice find peace. ❤❤
Jason, you are doing a great job with this almost live buyout coverage.thanks!
I totally agree
Yes, thank you Jason!
God Bless this Dr. She is a Blessing.............................................and a good Vet.
The horse (8-10yrs) with the light muzzle and Beautiful long tail,-- is going to be Stunning very soon 😊❤😊❤
You guys are so awesome, and loving to these beautiful babies. Much love for the ones that could not be saved. Much love for you all .😢😢😢
I watched an HPHS video posted about a year ago where a person who had worked in a feedlot/killpen talking about the killpens. At the end of the video, you tell us that trying to save one horse by purchasing it from such a place, can result in harm to other horses. Perhaps HPHS make another video educating the public how it affects other horses, and how what you do is different, or has a different result. Add in what needs to change to end this entire problem for good and what the public can do to help make that change happen.
Excellent comment! Thank you! 👍🏼 ❤️

People seeng something like this. For the first time, you need to realize that there are things that are worse than death.. These people are amazing angels and the relief that they provide to the very ill Is a blessing... God bless these people. I'm sure this isn't easy to watch time and time again, but here they are helping no matter what may come.... I have a horse that is stifled and this is why I will not sell him I do not want this fate for him. I love him. He is not of monetary Value to me. He is valuable because he is living. We have saved 47 horse from the auction. And God knows what fate in our lifetime am too old now. But I praise God that there are still good hearts out there helping.
As someone that is legally blind and totally blind at night, I can tell you that being blind and walking is terrifying. If I could just make a couple of suggestions, they do this a lot at blind schools number one is I would have the metal bars padded so that if the horse locks into them, they’re not gonna hurt themselves, they do have padded stalls. Also, you could make it easier for the horses to know where they are. They make these things called bump mats. They’re very similar to the things that crossings that have little grooves in them. Only the ones you can buy our dots they’re made for canes to make a noise and vibrate, but if you’re also walking on them, you can feel the difference From one surface to another, so therefore, when the horse is stretching its foot out if you slowly take it around it will say know where the food and water is if you put a certain mat on it or first place is soft and the place is hard just a couple of changes that might help you There’s also a place called Stuart homeschool they take children with mental disabilities and they have an equestrian part of the farm out in Kentucky you might want to contact them. I’m sure they would love to take any of these horses.
Well done Dr Lydia for your immediate response. You are one amazing vet 🙌🙏
Let Hailey clip the manes when she sees the need, without scolding her! ❤❤❤ Go Hailey! ❤️❤️❤️🇸🇪
Exactly. Hair grows back. There are better uses for folks time than picking a crazy amount of burrs out.
I agree, she said, Haley says cutting the hair is letting go of their past.
Thanks for helping them, Even the ones who inevitably pass over.
❤
I love how Dr. Gina used her head to support the X-ray machine 😅! I hope it's not too heavy and won't cause her to have a neck injury in the long run. It made me smile though, amidst the sadness of how these horses have been mistreated and neglected before they (luckily) made it to HPHS and its passionate team. I feel grateful that the sweet horse that was down had his suffering ended amidst loving and caring individuals.
It seems like the neglect and abuse never ends. HPHS, you are truly doing Gods work here. ❤
Katelyn, I'm so excited for you and Kory. Congratulations, I didn't even know you two were expecting a baby 🎉🎉
Me, either, who knew? BUT NOW WE DO!!!!!🥰
And you are around x-ray and ultrasound equipment. Is that safe??
So heartbreaking see that poor horse suffering humans can be so evil just so glad he got bit love and care before he wen t over the rainbow 🌈 thankyou for helping them you all are truly gods gift 🙏
Fly high sweet baby. So sad.
I'll have to come back and finish watching. I'm crying.
You guys are heroes! Thank you! ❤️🩹🐎➕️
Can you imagine their horror stories they could tell. It’s all in their beautiful eyes. I admire you all so much . I donate to a horse rescue here in Australia. Thank you all for what you do ❤️
It breaks my heart there is so many beautiful horses out there,it kills me to think they go to slaughter.Thank you all for all you do for these horses!
Thank you for doing all you could for this poor horse. I'm sure we were all wishing there could have been a happier ending for this neglected horse ...a forever home, enough to eat, veterinary and farrier care. ❤
So many neglected, abused and starved horses.
Buyout days are so tough but H+ doesn’t back down from hard things. The team is superior.
Thank you for doing everything you do to help these beautiful animals.
RIP sweet baby..Run free over the rain bow..Say hi to Mr Hawaii for me
You all do such a wonderful job! ❤ That poor baby who was down in the trailer was heartbreaking. It is just horrific how these living, feeling beings are treated!!!! Thank God you all were there to love and help every single one. May God bless you all, thank you for caring and helping these horses! ❤❤❤❤
min 13:00 Right so, you did not even ask him to get up. That was the reasonable and kindest thing to do. RIP, poor buddy. Its good you were there for him.
This vet is so thorough and loving. You can tell she cares so much about these horses.
People suck!!! I have also been helping with rescue horses, fostering, rehabilitating, etc. heartbreaking. Thank you ssoo much for all your devotion to help these horses.
You guys are truly amazing to horses who've suffered such cruelty from humans and the pipeline. Thank you ❤
Thank you for your support and kind words! 🙏
What a sad, sad group of horses. The neglect & injuries are hard to comprehend, as some horses are younger. Even many of the older horses are in such bad shape from neglect, etc. Thank you to your compassion & excellent team work, to help these kind souls. God bless you!
You guys are simply amazing . Thank you for all you do.
The fourth horse from the first trailer is a true brown. My favorite color, and he is beautiful despite being underweight and ungroomed. I love horses of every color and markings, but a brown like this has a special place in my heart. Probably something to do with a long-deceased special pony of mine.
Thank you So much. For helping these lovely Creatures...
Awwww congratulations on your pregnancy, Kaitlyn!
Not good to just throw hay on top of manure. We could help u all with hay racks.
I’m not far from u all need some help.
Thanks for all u all do.
Love from Kentucky, Lesley and medical service dog Linkin.
Thank you for doing the hard stuff. I pray for you everyday for continued strength and comfort. Tonight I can't help wishing that there is a special place for the people who caused these poor animals to suffer so much. Love you guys!
The fact that human beings have brought these horses to this is deplorable. They’re so thin…. the poor things must be freezing cold in all that wet weather. I hope they can get warm & dry asap. Thank goodness they’re safe now.
I’m so angry with the neglect these beautiful animals endure! Thank you so much for the help!
Thank you for the amazing work you do.
Liked, shared and commenting during the BC Super Cyclone and watching these beautiful creatures that have had the worst of what humans can show, but are still trusting. That pony's knee looked like a bullet exploding. So sad. Thank you to everyone at HPHS and all the people who are donating to save and care for them. Hugs from Esquimalt
I is so sad for this horse but you guys are doing a great job for this horse Nanette
The compassion of your veterinary team is so outstanding Professional So caring and compassionate! thank you for your service and healing hearts!
Thank you for everything you all do! I think I wouldn't be able to do it day in and day out. I'm sending prayers for strength and peace for you all. God bless these souls. Lord have mercy on the owners who knowingly let these babies get to this point.🙏🏼
I'm wondering (this is NOT a criticism). WHY THEY DON'T GET WATER AS SOON AS THEY GET OFF THE TRAILER. I would be so thirsty myself after going through all they've gone through!❤💦 Is it because the medication won't act as well if they're hydrated?
And unknowingly.
Biggest blessing and prayers
You are so fortunate to have Hayly on your team. Her horsemanship is off the charts.
Dang, Hailey, you are talented! Great catch on that poor pony ❤
Thanks may God continue helping you all.
All of you people are amazing but this Vet is a superstar. Save all the horses you can.
This is hard to watch , as my former boss lost her horse today from Colic and he passed on the operating table ! These poor horses !
I’m surprised dr Lydia didn’t cry because I definitely was
Dr Lydia she's so compassionate! I'm sure Dr Gina is too I'm just not as familiar with her❤🐎❤. I'm so glad that the horse got off the trailer first pretty much maybe there was one before him? Trust Dr Lydia to triage the worst cases first, and apply the appropriate medical attention no matter what. She'll cry later...😢💔🐎 Our hearts are with you, black horse, and Dr Lydia for her unwavering commitment 2 horse plus rescue❤ and excellent care of her patients.
I'm so sorry that these beautiful horses have to go through the horrible treatment they had, you guys are amazing and love these animals and take care of them with so much love!
So many horses I could comment on, but others already have. One who really made me heartsick was the 20 year old chestnut Arab with the tail cut off. Somebody loved that horse and took his tail to remember him by. Probably thinking he was going to be euthanized. Instead, he ends up in the slaughter pipeline. HOW? I know we will never know the story, but the cut tail... that tells its own story and my heart breaks for whoever loved that horse while I rage at whoever betrayed them and sent that horse into the slaughter pipeline for a few bucks. I hope there's nothing major wrong with him and he can gain weight and go on to find his forever home.
Yes Hugh, I was thinking all of that about that Arab cross, as well. 😔
Thank you for the wonderful care you give to those deserving horses! (Some guy kept talking and I couldn’t hear the vet.)
Dra. Lydia é espetacular, quanta atitude e coragem, verdadeira mulher de poder.
This was so heartbreaking to see that poor horse that was down in the trailer that had to be sent across the Rainbow Bridge although at least this horse is no longer suffering. How can people allow their horses to get like this I am going to definitely call my legislature and just ask them to please stop the kill buyers stop the slaughter stop the auctions. I firmly believe that people need to get more education so that they can be more responsible owners for their animals, 💔💕🐎🙏
Cynthia, please ask them to support the SAFE Act, too. ❤️ Jo
So sorry about the two horses that had such severe problems. The down horse and the one with the bone infection is so sad. I'm glad the one mini was able to be adopted.
To the horse that is down:
We love you.
We will see you at The Rainbow Bridge.
Time for you to run and play PAIN FREE! 💕🐎
Rough start to this day, but the team is focused and the love of the horse prevails...you guys are the best and getting better...pizza helps...!!!
Ho my my my so glad u guys are there fr them my tears wont stop poor babies xxxx❤❤❤❤❤❤❤god bless u all xzx
I like want you guys are doing for the horse 🐎 you guys are doing a great job for the horse 🐎 and I want to thank you guys for doing a great job for the horse 🐎 love ❤️ you all for doing a great job for the horse Nanette
Also, another thought for some of the wine horses you might wanna contact some of the blind schools. I know a couple of them have stables.
Jason, -- Thankyou Sooo Much for holding on to HOPE for that downed gelding.
Much appreciated.
Serious.
Congratulations on your pregnancy, Kaitlin💐!!
Why, how, where do these horses get so neglected and mistreated. I don’t know and can fathom how these beautiful animals end up in these conditions! If you are a horse owner that can’t cope with the basic care needs of your horse give it to someone who is able to give the animal everything it needs.
Please God don’t wait till your animal is so far gone.
Thank the lord for you great Horse Plus folks.
Totally agree
Thank you Dr Lydia for caring and your kindness
I love you people 🙌😊 Thank you😢😊
I have been teary eyed watch your videos. This one made me out right cry
Me too!
