    I am in Australia and cannot fathom how the Big Lick is allowed to be humanely allowed to happen by your governments and Animal Humane Societies. As Ghandi quotes "a measure of a countries people is in the way they treat their animals". For this reason alone it is a shame upon the people that are still continuing this oborent animal cruelty. 😭😭😭

    I hope you document everything and everybody who supports the criminal abuse. Any officer of the law protecting these abusers should be shown, a name and office listed and let people begin a calling campaign to those departments who refuse to honor laws to protect those that don't have a voice.

    Bravo!! These big lick horses carry almost all their weight on 2 legs. 1 leg at a trot plus the rider. When in their stall they lie down a lot more than normal because they hurt so much. They train & ride horses that aren't fully developed. Their joints and feet have no time to develop properly. Not to mention battery acid on their fetlocks
    Keep up your amazing work!!

      When you take on an animal you are taking on all the good and the bad, until that animal dies. If you cannot then you find them another loving home. People who just dump sick animals like that should have a special place in hell for what they've done.

    • @Reptile_Gecko
      @Reptile_Gecko Рік тому +2

      @@AccidentallyOnPurpose Sadly, the law is the big problem here, they've said at times that some auctions they go to are in states that have NO laws stopping what horses can go to auction or be sold. Plus, if people had to register to own horses and eventually for more than a certain number of equine, it could stop people dumping or killing horses themselves as well.

    • @AngelaAlzmann
      @AngelaAlzmann Рік тому +2

      @@Reptile_Gecko I have to disagree. My place is known as the place that ugly, skinny, injured pieces of horseflesh are turned into gorgeous, thriving, and happy animals. I've only got six, currently, and all but two are rescues that I've saved on my own. People find it hard to believe that they were once as skinny and beat up as any of the ones in this episode. I've even got a foundered mini that is romping in the pastures, thanks to my relentlessly watching UA-cam videos on trimming founder cases. Yes, I do all the trimming, too, and I'm no spring chicken, but they are what I live for. I'd be so ashamed if I let a horse get into the condition that I found them in, and would prefer death, to be honest.
      I will NEVER register to own a horse. Screw the government that's already wanting to over-regulate everything. That sort of governance has no place in a free society and is only worthy of contempt. I'm too old to embrace slavery and have had too many relatives die serving this nation to let it go in that disgusting direction. This is a cultural problem, and one that a control freak government can only use to cement its power over the citizenry. Change starts in the hearts of man, not in the laws of the power-hungry. There, you will only find abject desolation and a world in which neither man nor horse would want to live.
      Also, there is nothing wrong with "killing" a horse by a non-vet, so long as the person doing the deed researches the proper way of doing it. A bullet placed in the center of the "X" made between the ears and the eyes ensures a quick and painless death. Vets have told me that there are some horses that don't get sedated well enough and feel the heart shot and that it is very painful to the horse, and in some places, it's illegal to bury a horse that's been euthanized in such a way as it poisons the ground as the horse decays. A horse that's been put down with a bullet can be donated to big cat sanctuaries to feed the cats, and so the circle of life continues. Also, in the states where it's considered illegal for a layman to put a horse down, the vets charge outrageous prices to euthanize as a result, knowing that the owners have no alternative. Those owners sell their elderly and infirm horses to kill buyers, causing even more suffering. Always think of the ramifications of the laws being passed, as most of them cause more anguish and heartache than they prevent.

      ALL the Big Lick stallions I've seen have the same issue. I think it's edema from walking so far back on their hind legs. Normally horses carry like 70% of their body weight on their front legs, and obviously they can't do that. I've been around a LOT of stallions and the BL horses are the only ones I've seen with this issue. It must be so painful.

    I wonder if you can find someone with a trained gaited Tennessee Walker that would enter their horse and exercise it prominently outside so people can SEE the difference, can SEE how the hind quarters are unnaturally bounced under them and the patterns are so compromised that the fetlocks can actually touch the ground. I commented in an old video of big lick horse's that I would like to see the judges wearing platform shoes with. 6 inch heels run a circuit of the arena at a run, I would love to see that and I'm sure the horses would get a kick out of it 😂

      Oh can we cut the tendons in those human's backsides too?
      HPHS did show, maybe last year? that the Big Lick has what they call flat-shod categories where the totally natural TWH gait is shown and judged. That's what really makes even less sense... that the Big Lick ppl themselves put natural gait horses in the show right there for all to recognize the difference and to see just how false and stupid the exaggerated trot of torture really looks. Crazy. All in one show. Not sure what the owners and riders of that class think...why they would show off their beauties in an arena that supported such torture. I would be curious if any owners show both flat-shod horses and ones in stacks.

      But theres Steeple Chasing in the UK,which can kill a horse or rider with one false step.
      The so called “sport” is so cruel that it has already been banned in New South Wales. Now that South Australia has announced and end to the industry there, Victoria is the only state continuing to subject horses to this horror.
      Steeplechasing is still primarily conducted in Ireland (where it originated), the United Kingdom, Canada, United States, Australia, and France.

    It really opens your eyes to see 23 huge round bales of hay, and then be told it will last a week and a half. I use to have a small herd of dairy goats, and as silly as it sounds, I always felt rich when I had a barn full of hay, and my grain barrels were full. I’m old now and I like to joke that when I was young it would never have occurred to me that some day my wish list would consist of a semi load of peanut hay and a new pitch fork. But it was very true. Being able to take of those little critters meant the world.

    • @Reptile_Gecko
      @Reptile_Gecko Рік тому +1

      @@karenharrison885 You show everything. It is a big problem with people getting into keeping animals that thing it's all with the animals and loving on them and getting them, not what goes into the property, the people, the feed, the medications and more! Not to mention you need to give new rescues space and not shove a camera in their face every few minutes or hours, so instead they fill up time with other aspects of animal rescue.. or really at times animal keeping in general.
      Not to mention your comment had no connection to people abusing these animals, you're just bashing a rescue for existing and educating people on rescue life. 🤣

      Album of horses: the twh “has a running walk as fast and smooth as running water. because of its gliding motion it gives the rider the sensation of skimming along oa magic carpet. He is bred not for a flash of speed but for sustained travel, in comfort to his rider and to himself 😬Definitely Not the current atrocious artificial Big Lick

    I used to show my Arabian and would go to shows all over the country. I saw Tennessee walking horses being shown. Also, I never knew how they got their gate until you guys opened my eyes to this horrific cruelty that goes on with these poor horses. Now I am well aware of the cruelty that goes on and I will be telling and spreading the word to all other horse people who don’t know. Before I knew about the horrific cruelty, I always wondered how these horses were taught to gate this way. I thought maybe they just had weights on their feet I didn’t know they were stacks, and I didn’t know about the chemical burns and the chains😭💔.

It is such cruelty. We were watching the video to look at how people work together to look after animals. Those of you protesting Big Lick are so brave and compassionate. We talked about how frightening it can be to stand up for what you believe in. Thank you for raising awareness - we watched from Switzerland in amazement at the work you do. The blind white horse with cancer broke my heart. She was so sweet and endured her suffering with so much dignity. She was so trusting you could tell she wanted to live, but evidently could not. She was too far gone I guess, so got the needle instead. Very upsetting and painful to watch. You guys are awesome and Big Lick is big sh*t as well as abusive. I don't know how any of those riders can even feel good about being on the backs of those suffering horses. What a-holes.

    • @lynn7086
      @lynn7086 3 місяці тому

      I cried and felt sad for hours after seeing her and knowing that her suffering probably could have been prevented.White horses are prone to skin cancer due to radiation and UV. It's the owner responsible to Care for them simply by applying a sunscreen, covering their horse body with a special cover and getting their horse v the myeloma Vaccine.Keeoing their horse out of sun during the hottest peak of the is the simplest thing to do. I've have friends that have white horses and they use all these methods. Their horses are keep beautiful. The thing to remember is excellent care and daily examining their horse for any changes, so that if there are signs of cancer it will be treated successfully in the early stages.

      Sadly Canadian Agricultural allows that during entry and 3% of the many horses end up on someone's plate in the EU. Over 900k tons returns to North Dakota for processing something. Just disgusting

    • @margodphd
      @margodphd 8 місяців тому +1

      @@pjk1714In Europe I think only Italy mass slaughters horses, that's where the meat buyers try to take them to from my country. Fortunately we made horse meat illegal, even hypoallergenic dog food containing horse meat is tightly regulated (not to mention the stares you get when looking for it). I'm against mass animal production, we can satisfy our need for animal products without cruelty if we just change our consumption patterns but especially horse meat market is marred with cruelty just due to the whole auction/transport alone. Not to mention that horses, being companion animals, don't have the same character as livestock animals which were bred to be docile and used to the whole shtick of farm life for centuries which makes it much more terrifying for them. I think that's a good enough reason to push laws against it. We're trying to push for EU wide legislation and again, mostly Italy (but also France where horse meat is unfortunately still eaten) are very much against. We're not out of the woods yet...

Can't wait to see what becomes of the horses after they get some much needed rest and most of all, some groceries 😋. Poor things are so skinny, it's hard to believe that people would let their own animals starve 🥺. I mean one horse eats rocks because he's hungry, and another one is so hungry he's eating manure 😔. What's wrong with people?? Thank you HPHS for saving all the precious lives you can 🐴. Love and Blessings to all of you with boots on the ground ❤️🙌 Jennifer
