    I'm a province guy like you are. Like you said you'll be amazed at what kind of place you can get for $150 to $200 in the Philippines. This place that I'm talking about is in Naga it's in the Bicol region of the Philippines. Like you said my man it is so peaceful and quiet. Like you I thought there was only rich and poor but I'm where you are now in the middle class and in Naga I live in a gated community and it's a middle class community and lots of foreigners live there with their Filipino families.

    That is cheap! Good job. I'm in Ohio but hopefully my Filipina wife and I can make it back next Christmas. On a final note. We started building a house in Tarlac trying to do some of it long distance. Big mistake on my part. So far its mostly just the block walls, concrete floors and roof. Too many shady contractors asking for advance salaries. Its sat for a year and when I retire we will go and I can hand pick the workers.

    I agree with everything you said. Very good points. Wow, you got a heck of deal on your house! I am fortunate that I have the money I have, but I'm not into wasting money either, and less expensive always sounds good to me. A deal is a deal. I rather have my money than paying someone else's mortgage. So the less the better. As of now, I'm moving to Cebu City so housing is much more expensive, but after a couple of years, I may move to a simpler and less expensive setup. I rather have more money for resorts and fun then spending it on real estate. I have two 13 year old girls to raise.

    Very nice house and neighborhood! As a foreigner with no local contacts, how do you search for and find good rentals? If you go to a real estate company I assume they will only show you their rentals, and I assume there are no publications or websites that list house rentals like we have in the US. My wife is pinay but left the PI when she was 10. We’re considering the PI for retirement and finding a property like yours that has a good landlord will be one of the key things.

    HI CALVIN, When you say your're "Vetting" a new landlord, how can you tell that they are being honest? .... It's ok saying ask them about the roof, plumbing etc, but if the roof etc is not good they are not going to tell you the truth, you move in and bingo..you're in the shit. Is there any professional surveys you can have before you sign ?
    Kieran UK

    • @calroach1
      @calroach1  3 роки тому +6

      Honestly they will give you every sign especially when talking about the upkeep. Filipinos are generally honest and you can read them fairly easily. Another thing is to ask to see another one of their properties, talk to the current tenant. The good landlords here prefer foreign renters if they can get them. Filipinos are notorious for paying late and coming up with excuses 😆

    “Peace and quiet in the Philippines?” Seems like every video made in the Philippines has incessant non-stop roosters crowing. These videos can’t all be made early morning. Now I grew up on a farm in Texas, and our roosters only crowed in the early morning, but Filipino roosters seem to crow all day non-stop! That would drive me crazy! 😅

      @calroach1  3 роки тому +2

      In the Philippines WIFI is extra and in some cases houses and apartments are furnished to include AC.. In my case I don’t use AC anymore because I am comfortable with a fan. All of my prior places had AC but when I got stuck in Zamboanga for 6 months without air conditioning I got used to not having it. Electricity can be expensive here and with the brownouts they don’t give you credit for those.

      A bit true.. It's not actually on the financial standing.. It's more on local standard of beauty.. A lady's tolerance to men is dependent to how men accept her.. Beautiful and rich ladies are of course picky. Unattractive and rich lady? Will take any serious man.. Again local beauty standards.. If you're familiar..
