This is a perfect example of "the Philippines is clay" mentality I talk about. The right person can take this house and create something special and spend very little.
Calvin, i really think you are the most clear and down to earth Philippines youtubber. You are so on target about it all. Including why people fail in the attempt.
He may realize now that he really made out great in a great deal with this house for rent payments. The landlord is user friendly and helps many too. On point with this one Calvin, wow.
I'm in a furnished Condo in Cebu City and I'm paying 16000PHP or about 284 USD, with cable & internet it comes to 18,000+. It's a studio with balcony. You'll get a smaller space here but the advantage is you can find furnished places with appliances. We looked at 3 or 4 different places until we found this in Mabolo. I'm pretty happy with it. There you have a bigger space, you could move your girlfriends family or kids in there if you wanted. Here it's just two of us. One Month in advance/One month Deposit is good! From my Experience do not do two months deposit, always negotiate that because one of my LL's tried to keep the 2nd deposit.
Calvin, I wish I was in the Philippines right now because I would snatch that house up in a Philippines tropical minute. That house is a diamond in the rough and if he’s by himself he could rent out the Extra rooms to other Expats that are subscribed on your channel.
It's too big for what I'want but at that price it's an exceptional bargain. The big thing in it's favour is the arritude of the owner/landlord and you can't really put a price on that. They don't include it in the rent but a landlord who takes care of the property fixes any faults is a valuable asset. Did the guy rent it? Seemed to me like he was trying to haggle and work a better deal. Once in a while you encounter a great deal when you do it's wise to recognise it and shake hands because if you don't it's a safe bet the next guy will!
If you are planning to live here for the long term and willing to spend some money, I think it's a great place! I think a westerner will want hot water in the shower, but that shouldn't be too expensive. You can put aircon maybe just in the master bedroom. Everything looks a bit dated and the place definitely needs a paint job. But for the price and provided you are going to stay there for at least a couple of years, it is worth paying for some improvements.
He sounds like he's from the Caribbean. The price is right as long as the landlord is the type of person who fixes things right away. It seems like that place was used for a business and those were public bathrooms they were putting in the back. The trees all over are Moringa in English. ☀💪🌴
Calvin how are the brown outs in your area? I would love to move in your area however those dogs and roosters might be a problem. maybe put some music or tv's on it wouldn't bother me have to see.
We have one every now and then. Not too frequent. Dogs bark for intruders and roosters have their time in the morning. It's not bad. I do my videos early so you hear them.
I like Space & with All that Room I'd Love it, but barking Dogs & Roosters I don't have that Issue in this Nice area I live in, but I'll Give Up for that Price & The Hamster Wheel!
Thanks for the great video. I could end up in San Carlos. I was not aware that there were houses like that available for that price. I am looking at smaller places for double that price here in Dumaguete. thanks
Helluva deal lol I'd not wanna leave if living in that spot. Depends how neighborhood is, sure it's fine....Hell I'd fix most of the stuff myself, I'm handy like that lol nice parking area for plenty of things
Geez the other guy is so unreasonable this is so cheap place and big for 15k in Manila this could be 30k-50k or something....He keep saying maybe this and that...bla...bla...bla...If you don't kow your way always....always ask the local they are helpful...
I grew up on a rural farm in New England. As a result I can't stand roosters and ever barking dogs. It will be difficult to find a place for me when I come over about February.
If you are not interested in living in a rural or province area, you can always live in the city (Cebu, Davao, or Manilla) in a high-rise condo to avoid the noise of roosters and barking dogs.
Calvin will you be willing to help me me find a place upon my arrival. I'm will pay for u for your time. U know the city and I would like to be settled as soon as possible. I'll be contac with u.
The inside looks really nice, but it just seems like such a run down neighborhood and from the outside it is really horrible plus all the animal noise.
This is a perfect example of "the Philippines is clay" mentality I talk about. The right person can take this house and create something special and spend very little.
Is this in dumaguete?
@@lovemyFilipina Not a single proprietor, Foreigners cannot own property as an individual.
Next year I'll be looking for my fiance and me before I permanently move to San Carlos in late 2024, and this would be perfect.
Calvin, i really think you are the most clear and down to earth Philippines youtubber. You are so on target about it all. Including why people fail in the attempt.
Thank you David
That very nice house.. I was paying that much for a hole in the wall in HCMC Vietnam
Beautiful house and very nice size for the price
Nice paint job, you are set!
That's a steal. I would grab that in a heartbeat
For this price there is still a lot to be done, cos the place is not ready for living now.
Man I’d live like a king in that house!!
That is a place I would take immediately if I was there.
Good day brother Calvin, thanks for sharing
Looks like a Great Blank Slate to work with to make your own
I just started the video and already my answer to the question in the title is HELL YES!
Location location location. Appreciate the variety of topics on your channel brotherman.
I would definitely live there by myself. Great place.😎👍🏿
See you soon Calvin.

I worked as a plummer in the states. When I come over maybe I can Help
Looks nice
Simply a great deal and less than my electric bill here in Florida.
Well I'm paying $360 for a one bedroom condo in Makati so yeah I'd pay that for a house for sure

that's a cool suzuki/jeep in front of the house !
Great deal on that property
I’m sold. Probably a little large for a single guy but the price is a steal because two bathrooms places are hard to find.
Calvin, I wish I was in the Philippines right now because I would snatch that house up in a Philippines tropical minute. That house is a diamond in the rough and if he’s by himself he could rent out the Extra rooms to other Expats that are subscribed on your channel.
I would Pay for it Cal.
That place is massive for under 300$
Awesome thanks for sharing.
Thanks for showing this Calvin 👍🏽
What about all them dogs? They would drive me crazy barking all the time.
They only bark when strangers come around. Burglar alarms that you'll appreciate here Jim 😄
When I get some time, I would actually like to meet to you so you don't give out any false information. Kudos!
That's a good price.
That house needs fresh paint and yard maintenance.
I'd live there. The owner seems nice!
At that price, you got a deal :)
Onyx and Ruby unk. I would love to to link up with him.
Very nice place........
a corner lot for 260. great find
is that Margarita Village?
Dammm... I would take that. Especially for that price
I am renting a room here in Los Angeles for $750 abut 10 by 10 room
Wow.
That's life in the Matrix 😎
Whaaaaat !!!!!!
@@frankellis9627 The reason I left the Matrix...
I used to live in Sherman Oaks, $2,400 per month. Now I'm paying $140. In PH you can become an instant Peso-onaire.
It has to be a mistake that's way too cheap I would not have argued I would have just gave her some money and moved in
I am watching Calv from Belgium but I am from the Netherlands
Thanks for stopping by!

I would stay in a place like this as long as it were furnished

What about a place in the Beach or really close?

Decent house for the cash .

awesome place I take it
Calvin always has valuable information for those interested in the Philippines. Thanks.
I'm shocked at how little the rent is. Out of curiosity I checked on Airbnb and found a place listed as a Private Room for $875/month.
Anything in a city near a major mall will cost premium. You pay for conveniences in the Philippines like anywhere in the world
@@Imold774 The place I referred to is in San Carlos City.
Wow! That’s a nice place!
Congrats!
malungay and papaya are good combination for chicken tinola
Not bad just need a updated paint job. Current paint just feels boring, depressing... this is coming from someone who is very easy to please.
Looks like a nice place. 👍

Why the teller windows in the front of the house?
Former tenant had some type of business.
What is the cost of houses there, and the restrictions to foreign investors...
The costs vary and I'm not sure about foreign investments. That's a great question for a Filipino lawyer.

I think this place is for the family man with a few kids or a bachelor man dreaming of the family life.
Do you keep the contacts of these different properties available so if people are in town and might need them?
Yes. The owners have several properties in San Carlos City.

That's the design of the windows. The older houses here have those.

Hey, Calvin. I'm a new subscriber. Can you look into condos? I'm moving there next year. I'm not retired but working remotely.
Ok when I'm in Cebu City or one of the big cities I'll tour a condo. Thanks.
Welcome to my channel and thanks for your support.
Is it possible to get away from the noise of the chickens in the Philippines?
Yes. You only hear the roosters because it's quiet.
Nope. Chickens and dogs come with the territory. The dogs would be my biggest adjustment challenge from what I can see. Lol
Hell yes that’s a great little place.
After a while, you won't even notice the noise.
You can always rent a high-rise condo in Cebu or Manila if the noise of the chickens bothers you.
I’m living in Olongapo City now. Thinking of moving to Iloilo next year. What do you think?
I love Iloilo City it's modern and clean and so close to many beautiful places including Boracay.
Hell yeah
Calvin
😂😂😂 he have gf lol. Won’t be long before someone ties you down out there.
A ton of Roosters that nest there man......their deafening.....you have to be out of you mind to live there......beware. Not worth it at any price.
The only reason you can hear roosters is because it's quiet otherwise 🤔. I'll take it over sirens and gunshots any day.
How do they treat all of that black mold, do they have hardware stores like home depot out there?
White vinegar kills mold on porous and non porous surfaces and it will not kill you
$267 a month to live in the middle of nowhere surrounded by roosters?
Middle of nowhere 🤔
A come up. 🦾
