Great points. 3 that stand out with me are, saving money-(I say spend some, save some and give some,Routine and one woman. Let me add a couple. They understand the culture of the filipino people. They study it and get to know the ways and habits of the locals. They study and learn the language. you learn tagalog and things really open up here for you.They are not easily offended. Do not take anything personal here and learn to forget and move on. lastly establish and maintain good habits, such as eating, exercise, working mind reading good material and having a relationship with God is the key to it all.

Saving, finding a good woman, absolutely. Money does matter, though not the most important thing. If you're in a country where you are lower income and the poor are disparaged, it's almost impossible to live with dignity. The Philippines is so much better for me than the states, and I feel happy and respected there. Routines are okay, but to grow you need to step out of your comfort zone from time to time. :)

This is good for anybody who leaves their own country and goes into a new country and they do the right thing like getting an education and doing the right thing for the community that they live in. Mr.Calvin is right about a person, "Giving back to the community they live in." I have a small problem with the Afghanistan people coming to America but I also know that they will encourage their children to pursue their education and for their children to contribute to the society that they live in. So Mr.Calvin is correct.

Very solid advice. The wife and I plan to use her home city of Da Nang, VN as a home base to do slow travel around SE Asia in our retirement. We will definitely go around the Philippines. I've been in IT and cybersecurity for most of the last 20 years, I'll be happy to teach whatever is still relevant when we retire.

The Philippines is such a warm and wonderful country in so many ways. But I will probably never get use to how they drive there. The road sign said no left turn but the motorcyclist turned left anyway, lol. 😁
Larry E, It's a lot worst than that. No rules are enforced. I have only seen five stop signs and no traffic lights in San Carlos and there are many intersections.

I have a Filipina fiancé, who is starting process to get tourist visa to visit me to fulfill the requirement to see each other in last few years. My Filipina gf was horrible with money... She took good care of me.... But her money skills was subpar.... If she saw something she. Liked she grabbed it... We had two motorcycles and 1 trike.... How can we become a racist, were bullied also in the US and experienced racism. Thanks Robert I live in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental about 4 hours north of Dumaguete City and yes it is safe and there are mountains we can bike here are flat stretches too. I love it here.

Hey brother, I heard you mention riding your bike. Is that a bicycle or motorcycle? I am disabled and ride a handcycle and that is one big thing holding me back from the PI. (See the picture or my videos to see my handcycle.) All the condos I've seen there don't even have a stationary handcycle and that sucks lol.
Depends on a lot of variables like location, lifestyle, single or live-in but I would say yes as long as you have a few savings for emergencies or a return trip home.

Have you heard of the latest filipino Pea video mate? She had a lawyer on there saying articles 147 and 148 of Philippine Law states that if a Filipina lives with you for 2 weeks she can file a lawsuit and get half of all your income including your pension in the USA and any savings. She has many guys terrified. Everyone is talking about it online.
No cohabitation laws in the Philippines that the US government is bound to respect. Just go home if you are sued or face that and she has no case. Majority of Filipinas have never stepped foot in a court room. I wouldn’t lose any sleep.

I would build right outside the city limits or in Calatrava about 15 minutes away.
