Hi Dave, 22 year owner on my '66 TR4A IRS. Subscribed to your channel sometime last year but hadn't checked it recently. I installed exactly the same heater valve with the metal ball valve a couple years ago after my 2nd one failed in service spewing coolant everywhere. Fortunately wasn't far from home and could nurse the car back. You're exactly right, the rubber diaphragm splits. Poor design. I'm one for keeping originality where I can but, this upgrade was a no brainer. I also had the EXACT same hood frame failure as you. Will post in that video how I fixed it Bob
Thanks Bob, Yes, I would definitely be interested in how you fixed your top frame. I am also considering a top upgrade to one that has a zip out rear window similar to a TR6. I think I found one but nay wait until it warms up before doing that change. Send me your UA-cam channel name when you get a chance! Dave
I am definitely interested in how you fixed your hood frame. I’m just waiting till it warms up some here before I start on the repair. I’m also thinking about replacing my current top with one that has a zippered rear window.
My heater control value failed on both my MGB and Triumph. You are correct to say they are not of the best design. Being I don't drive in cold weather much I installed an on or off ball valve I bought at the local hardware store. Good to hear the cable control of this new type is much smoother. That was another bad thing about the stock valve.

Hi Dave, actually don't have a channel. We appear similar ages so I'm impressed you figured it out. Maybe there's hope for me yet.
