I replace the leaking heater control valve on my 1974 MGBGT. I also take it apart to show how it works, why they leak, and how I modified it for a bit better flow

Thank You for the video on the Heater Control Valve ----- Some -- Good -- info ---- especially if your car starts running crappy ---- Looking at your Engine Compartment ---- did you design the Air Intake there for the two carbs ----- pushing it through the radiator support for ---- cooler air ---- Did you notice a difference in performance in doing that ------- must have had to figure out the Air Intake for each carb. and make sure tube was big enough and filter was large enough to deliver the air needed without choking the carbs ------ Good Idea ------ Again Thank You for the video ------- Hope you have a Good Week ------ Rodney.

That intake is the cold air intake that Moss sells, but I added the hose to take it through the core support and move the filter to the front side

Speaking from considerable experience, the MGB heater, including the core and the one-speed fan, was so poorly designed and executed, you should just remove the damn thing, and save yourself a spot of trouble, old boy....

Thanks for the tutorial. My heater valve opens when I rotate it to closed!!! A mystery for investigation. Or I retrain my Brian the Hot = closed.

Saving weight parts of an ounce here and there… I get it…. Easier for me to just go on a diet.

You’ll know your heater valve is leaking when the car starts missing. Happened to me.

How so yiu have that much room in the front

If you’re talking just in front of the radiator, This car previously ( before i bought it) had an engine conversion that wasn’t done well and that area was cut out

Where do you get your replacement diaphragm?

As far as I know there are no replacement diaphragms. I would rebuild mine by taking the diaphragm out of another one, and only because I put so much work into the old housing already

@@mgbgtguy One more question - where did you put the spacers? I know you talked about it but I don't remember seeing them.

@@70Grande between the e-clip and the arm, you can see it on the video at about 8:30 in to it. I used white nylon washers
