Surprised Steele was also interested in watching this lol. Tips for you guys, you can power the fpv camera/vtx using the mavics original battery if you dig deep enough so you wont need to fly with 2 batteries.
Here's a cool idea: mount the fpv camera backwards and put the goggles on so you can fly backwards without reversing the shot in post 👍

In the FPV community you get something called a cheater quad with a camera facing each direction and switch to change between them
@@bandobandit353 yeah it's a really cool system, I've seen some pilots mount the GoPro on the back of their quad too, and just fly forward, but have backwards footage from the GoPro
I was thinking the same thing as you can already fly fpv with the litchi app!!! But it would definitely be a game changer going backwards!

PowerTuber 4.0 they technically do, they have FPV goggles for their drones but they are about $300ish used 😅
Latency. You can use fpv with a dji drone but there is a large latency (200-300ms). True fpv drones are in the 6-35ms range. The delay is noticeable when you need the agility and reflexes on an actual fpv drone.

Most fpv pilots fly acro mode these days...
The feature is called "angle mode" and can be set to a switch in the "modes" tab
There is also some way to setup an altitude and position hold over the GPS, but idk how that being set up🤷♂️

Kind of. It's called Angle mode. It doesn't allow the drone to hoover on it's own, but the drone will self level with your hands off the roll and pitch stick. You still have to control it's altitude with the throttle though so it's not a completely hands off hoover.
correct and you can enable angle mode as well where the quadcopter levels when you let go of the sticks. however wind will make it move as well as inertia.

Not sure how the cost compares, but DJI have fpv goggles that are compatible with the Mavic line-up (except the mini). Just set the drone to fpv mode and you'll get the same visual style as what you were getting here.
You are right! But it still relies on the digital video signal from the drone which is a little delayed and can cause a you hit something at higher speeds!

Actually. Now that I think of it... if you get the caddx tarsier v2 4K and somehow rig it the way you did this, you can get 4K dvr and get that fixed wing or fpv look too

That’s pretty funny, makes me want to try it. I have those same all in one cameras and the antenna will probably still work, just bend it back as best you can.

Weird idea indeed - to put a cheap analog FPV kit on an expensive Mavic. Just a basic FPV drone with the cheapest parts would be several times less expensive and 100 times more repairable. As hype video idea maybe good. From practicality or any other reasonable perspective- waste of time, money and effort.
Just for clarity before someone tries to teach me- I have both Mavic Pro and 5 other DYI FPV drones incl cheap analog and DJI 03 Air Units with Goggles 2, so I know what I am talking about.

Hi guys.I’ve seen this video before and I do have a DJ I Mavic air called Boris.I’ve tried fatshark goggles briefly felt weird sold that husband drone with goggles before I got the mavic air.as I have one one eye will FPS goggles suit me?😀I fly Boris mainly for film making for myself Steve in uk.what’s best set goggles would you say if it’s ok for me to use them.I used to ride motorbike Honda vfr750 been Isle of Man etc.But just paddle board and do scooter rides now mostly.ciao guys 😀
What's the point? That's a shitty drone to put a fpv camera on (Motors weak af, one racing quad motor is stronger than all these motors put together). Also, the lag is not only on the video because of the way Mavic flies (If you go full forward it takes some time to get to that position and accelerate, not 0.1s like fpv quads).
Don't be lazy, build a FPV quadcopter and practice...

Not bad of course, but there's a much easier way to fly FPV, and that's with the Itchi app (20 USD) and a simple set of cheap VR goggles. No need to change your DJI drone. Just saying, guys.

Your a noob but fpv drones can have return to home and stabilization and hover. You just dont know what your doing and it just needed a 12 dollar module added and a couple settings in betaflight or inav . Any fpv drone is capable. I have a armattan gecko 3" fly autonomously and do acro tricks and go miles. Just gotta dig deeper my friend. Also your quad spinning is your motors backwards or props on wrong. Just by watching I can tell this. Also there is a 3rd part app for dji to give you fpv and dji has fpv goggles for phantoms and mavic. Just saying and just came out with fpv gear for all other quads.
Ive trying put some fpv cam and vtx on my DJI phantom 3s, but the fpv kit shut down my dji signal, GPS and remote, is that because I use band and channel on my vtx exactly just like dji has?? is there anything wrong? vtx or maybe the band or the channel that I use??
I want turn my phantom into fpv drone.. just keep case, motors, props, and camera with gimbal.. control motors thru FC/ESC so I have full control over flying with GPS still for basic return back.
It's good to experiment. Chances are you will learn or achieve something you never though before. A shot like this i think can be done with Any of the smaller DJI drones, no need for the added camera. Just go slow thru the trees and speed up the footage a bit in post if you want , then slow it down for the wide landscape shot. For a real speed one take shot, i would probably use a Caddx Vista on a DJI Air. That way the delay will be almost gone and ghost branches will be less of an issue. For proximity with a Mavic i sometimes turn off object avoidance. That way movement of the camera will flow better. Nice footage! and props for attempting proximity flying over snow, always a challenge. Best.
Can you turn the gps off? If so it should handle more like a cinewhoop. I have been putting the same setup on my Q500 4k and Parrot Bebop 2 for about 3 year now. Before that I had the fpv on my rc cars. Great video!
Hello. Can you help? The camera would not work with my drone plug in as it was a diffrent connector so I wired the camera stright in to the battery of the drone via live and ground. the battery is quite powerful. When I turn the drone on I get a full clear video feed on my phone for 1-2 seconds and it all works perfect.... then it cuts out. The camera is also rather warm. I dont know what I'm doing wrong and would be grateful if anyone could help me out. Thank you. The drone I have is drocon bugs 3
It seems like a waste of time when you can run a cord from your smartphone to a small note pad with and HDMI out to goggles with HDMI in.
Or just insert the phone into VR goggles and use an app from google play Stop building mountains before you climb them

You could just use the DJI HD headset that would give you the FPV video in HD. Of course they are not as affordable as your option but they work great with the mavic drones. These headsets are pretty affordable now that they are several years old.
I have question, what about mounting DJI FPV unit on mavic 2 pro so I can see HD through goggles and record through Hasselblad in that case would be possible to use mavic 2 pro controller??

This is awesome but Is there a way to do the opposite? I want to get into the long range fixed wing plane market. However after using my mini for so long analog and even the digital FPV leaves a lot to be desired. Is there any way to put a DJI replacement camera on a FPV drone and figure out a way to transmit the video?
It's funny to me how you have the best high end cameras and mavics and such, but the cheapest bottom of the barrel low performance FPV gear there is. Just keep at it you get better is just a bit of a learning curve with all the set up in flying and building in FPV.
so how is this FPV experiment different from using the DJI goggles which is compatible with this drone and works similar to the FPV?
DJI makes FPV goggles to use with the Mavic 2 Pro. With that you can even use head tracking to move the gimbal. No need to make this alteration with that drone. Problem is the goggles are huge and hard to travel with anywhere.
At 1:36 it appears to be receiving yaw input causing it to take off and get disarmed or a runaway. Based of experience the arm switch might have the yaw channel as well as an aux channel. It could also be the accelerometer. Subscribed and liked it. Was that the drone from the wish video? It looks similar apart from the green light at the back, the better video and better stability.
There is a digital fpv system from DJI for Mavic Pro, Pro 2. Not racing fpv but with head control and things

Experience on a real fpv race drone does not have anything similar to DJI’s copters. The learning curve is steep, you may have to destroy 1 or 2 copters to become an ok pilot, but a toothpick drones is only a fraction of the cost of a DJIs set of copters can be used as a training copters.
i have a xiro xplorer v but the company is one big scam the app doesn’t work anymore i never had a nice flight it always crashed etc the software , firmware is from 2017 there are no new updates , is there a possibility that i can use the old parts and make a fully new drone ?

The mavic air is such a tough little drone, mine has always been reasonable affordable to fix, and has taken a hell of a beating, once , it took a 100 foot fall because hanging ghost got caught in prop... oops lol old faithful for me
Why dont you just put your fpv drone into angle mode or horizon mode? That way it handles more like a dji drone and stabilizes itself .-.
i spend around 10 hours on a fpv sim and fly them IRL without any problem. Making way cooler 'fpv style shots'
What if you put the drone into sport mode? That would make easier to doge quick objects. And it would look more like a FPV
Ya'll know you can use the dji goggles (not the fps goggles) for that same reason with the mavic air right. I do it all the time.
I have an idea what if you guys moved the current camera that you have closer to the centre of the drone so that rather than getting the inside of the propellers tips when they’re spinning you actually see the outside of the propeller tips when they’re spending which would help you gauge your ability to fly through objects better using that perspective seeing more of the front of the drone from the top. Just a thought

Did this a long time ago with a Phantom 3 pro.. main reason was to be able to have one person fly and another to control the camera.. they can tilt and do what ever they want with the cam while I control the flight.. the cheapest way to get a 2 person drone control..

I tried the same thing u guys did on sjrc f11.The drone flew ok at first but it started to bounce when I wana try to land it,like as though there interference.

What is the difference with the fpv setup vs the DJI googles on dji drone?
Are you using the Mavic Air in sports mode and did you unlock all the speed limiters?
I put a small night vision on top of my Mavic, lil jello , but worked great
