This helped me confirm I am truly an ENFJ even if I’m more introverted and it helped me appreciate and understand loved ones who are INFJ.

this was my first major confusion when I was constantly (read: 41 times out of 46 tests) typed as INFJ. Despite how much I didn't like big crowds and big parties, it still didn't 'feel' right to me to be an introvert. Harry was the first one to suggest I might be an extravert instead based on the type of dialogues I have with myself lol. It's a huge misconception that ENFJ's automatically love big crowds, parties and enjoy being around lots and lots of people by default.

True. I am an ENFJ, and my "people-centered energy" is about how connected I feel to individuals, not how many people I have around me or how much of a spotlight I have. I have a lot of acquaintances and casual friends, but my inner circle is small, and those are the ones I will go out of my way to spend time with.

As an INFJ, when I find there's a conflict, I feel like simply getting up and walking away and I think the reason why is introverted thinking. Now I understand why the ENFJ is going to try to change the emotions/mood of others to solve a conflict. The order of cognitive functions really makes a huge difference

Yep, my response is more to try and fix it, and the more I study the ENFJ type, the more certain I get that I am one. I just got out of a situation like that only when I realized I was being incredibly taken for granted and had to withdraw or go crazy. Even though I wasn't enjoying it anymore and felt rather disconnected from it, I kept hoping to see encouraging signs and kept putting myself into it, trying to salvage it.

@@gargervon8697 It can be frustrating because there are some people in the world who have personality disorders and will never admit that they cause issues. I focus my energy with other aspects of life that I can control. If a person causes problems for me and won't change, then they simply won't be in my life anymore.

I used to think I could be an INFJ until I met one in real life, whose cognitive functions are clearly vastly different from mine. The Ni dominant, the Ni-Ti loop really sets the difference between ENFJ and INFJ. Iam so highly confident that Iam not INFJ now.
As far as I have been interacting with this INFJ, here are some key differences between the two personalities I have noticed:
    1. INFJs are much quieter than ENFJs.
    2. ENFJs are more active in socializing, actively communicate with other people while INFJs would probably shy away or wait for others to make the first move.
    3. INFJs are more studious than ENFJs, this is not to say ENFJs are dumb, but they're more hesitate to engage in activities that require high logical thinking like solving maths problems, doing crosswords.
    4. ENFJs are more physically experimental than INFJs, which can make them be mistaken fore ESTPs sometimes. INFJs can be more rigid and reluctant to participate in the same activities.
    5. INFJ is way more individualistic than ENFJ. ENFJs are much quicker to compromise with someone to avoid conflicts and INFJ may refuse to do so.
In the end, the key similarity of these two types is whenever having conversation with them, you will always hear these three words: 'How about you?'.

Wonderful description of the two types!
I’ve been typed twice as an ENFJ, and I agree that staying too long in my head becomes a bit of a dangerous situation. I become restless and need to apply my thoughts to something tangible/actionable. I also don’t feel quite safe applying my own concepts, and prefer to rely on others that have been truly time tested. I probably over fact check ideas before accepting them as truth.
There’s also a relentless need to fulfill a purpose in life. Having an impact on the world is always on my mental vision board. It can be difficult and oddly physically painful at times to be still when the world is calling for help.
Thank you for this video 😊

CPT has helped my brilliant cousin, who was MBTI typed, INTJ, embrace actually being an INFJ. She’s such an intellectual (Received a full ride, Yale Law scholarship), that she just bought into being a “T” type. Understanding now that INFJ is Ni-Ti Convergent and what that means, it allows her 53 year lifetime to finally make utter sense, which I’m finding to be the norm for CPT.
This is by far the most comprehensive system to help mature individuals navigate the nuances of differentiation, which can otherwise be a snafu to finding a best fit type.
For me, being such an obviously (to everyone) high, Convergent, Se type and only becoming interested in my own type in my late 40’s, CPT has been essential to my owning my ENFJ type, despite having been typed as such in multiple systems. Some, understandably see an Se type when they look at me, but those who actually know me, see the “Fe fest,” as well as knowing my Si characteristics suffer much more so than Fi ones.
Anyway, as always, thank you, Harry. Not only for my sake, but that of everyone who has been helped and will be helped by you and CPT. I look forward to the compounding impact you will have on cognitive typology. I will continue to steer as many people as possible, toward CPT.

In my experience growing up, I can distinctly remember being a healthy Ni-Ti user, with both functions being well developed. After 12, I began developing Fe-Se and boy did I start to instinctively crave having fun with other people. I was more outgoing, except in the classroom where I was still extremely introverted and analytical. Then after 15, because of parental narcissism, I started to become really unhealthy in my interactions with adults and was even extremely rude when nosy people didn’t respect my boundaries. Fe-Se became a big source of pain for me. It took a long time for me to heal and start developing emotional maturity.

Nice! ENFJ here with a younger INFJ brother. This was an interesting video. I think we complement each other really well. I think the authority function really is visible for me too see in both of us. He is very deliberate when commenting in a social shaky situation. Just saying the facts and what the issue is. Not involving himself more than that. While I'm not even noticing myself being swallowed by it, full on reacting and caring about the mood. While it's opposite with Ni. I get really determined about what is my "mission" to say. While he instead ponders and share remarkable insights.

"...for the INFJ, Fe disharmony tends to create more of a 'flight' response..." um, yep XD (and the "retreat" into Ti kind of feels like "figuring out how to deal with situations similar to this one, in the future" --> solving future conflicts, now). I also agree with feeling a greater need for external certainty, as well. Great lesson, Harry :P Thank you!

Nice, a video about INFJs and ENFJs!
Great, I find ENFJs extremely insightful and they can definitely be trusted with following a variety of logical path ways. Whereas, we INFJs will favor just... try and desconstruct a whole logical path in order to find something new and interesting, while still being logical, of course.
I can see that INFJs can count on ENFJs helping them keep their chaotic way of thinking more grounded when needed.
The INFJ's can show the opposite of it to the ENFJ as well as help them being more creative / acting in a convergent way with their NI-TI.
Of course, the balance is paramount for either of them. Both can help each other.

Thank you! I am definitely an ENFJ. Have thought that for years, I test as INFJ most of the time when I try the online tests and have been tested through work and with my psych studies. This video has clarified that I am definitely not INFJ, but am in fact enfj. The “fight” response, and experiential exploration were the biggest points. I’m incredibly active in taking action towards my causes, rather than just thinking about what needs to be done, I do it…. All of it. Systematically juggle Huge amounts of responsibilities through practical action, all endeavours aimed towards improving the current future trajectory of society and the environment.
I could not see myself as INFJ, despite not exactly being a “social butterfly”, I’m far too pragmatic, purpose driven, upbeat, action oriented, forward and direct when it comes to environmental and societal issues to be considered INFJ, who is represented as being a quiet, broody, reflective type.
For example: my Fe-Ni told me that farming is environmentally destructive and this will lead to societal collapse in the future: I bought a farm, farm in an ecological way and then teach others how to do the same.
I saw that people were losing their minds in delusion and paranoia over the pandemic I immediately studied the Bachelor of psychology degree so that I could speak wisdom to those I encountered online.
As soon as my Fe-Ni saw the long term impacts on society from poor resource management, I got a career in environmental waste management.
Juggling all of those ventures at once (along with a relationship and raising my kids and others) takes an extraordinary amount of energy, motivation and dedication, it’s dealing with a lot of opinions and behaviours, and requires a more extroverted approach. I was sure I was ENFJ. The way you’ve described the differences makes it completely clear. Thanks 🙏

I spend most of my time hermitting in my own head & researching rather than being with people; I'm exceptionally good with people re that FeSe convergence but I tire easily & have to go back into my introverted lair. I do think most of us originally typed as one of these. I got ENFJ/ENFP on the tests due to trying to amplify my personality to suit what I wanted on the 16personalities. I always clicked with Ni/Se but I knew k didn’t have lettlelone lead with Fe, Enfps Fi kept pulling back and forth to which type I was and I was so sure I lead with intuition. Turns out I was an ISFP all along which was helped strongly by this Channel that let me have Fi/Te and Se/Ni. Reflecting on ENFJ now makes me realise how different I am as an ISFP and I’m sure many have gone down the same path. Thanks man!

Hi there, ENFJ here typed by Harry. Interesting stuff alas tests can lead us down the wrong path. On all the personality tests invariably I typed as INTJ owing to being socially introverted, intuitive , a preference for thinking (I'm a divergent TiNi ENFJ) and judging. I knew something was off as despite knowing I have a strong TeNe dip in retrospect Te as a supposed second slot function & no conscious Ti didn't make sense to me. Harry clarified a lot for me: with explaining my FeTi axis is 50/50 it made sense that I didn't have 'weak' Ti & how I use FeSe more divergently like the INFJ & ISTP & TiNi more convergently, by and large. I'm really glad you found some clarity through CPT, now we can both focus on personal growth!

It would be great to see a video on the ENFJ subtypes! You have alot of other videos on the list so dont rush it, but I am very interested in hearing about the divergent ENFJ, as I feel it could make me able to finally decide between INFJ and ENFJ (as I identify with alot of both of their characteristics, and am too talkative and expressive for an INFJ but I feel like I am too introverted/have too much of a preference to be alone for an ENFJ). I could be an INFJ with enhanced Fe. I could be an ENFJ with GREATLY enhanced/a high preference for Ti. I dont know anymore haha.

I've been typed by CPT as a divergent ENFJ so my Ti-Ni convergence is higher in magnitude than my Ni-Ti divergence. This is definitely a subtype you might want to look into. As I have a very fluid axis Ti-Ni isn't a 'struggle' for me so to speak; the difference being I reformulate at the behest of a Ti agenda. I'm also very wary about taking in existing, even if empirically 'verified'/vetted scientific information into my frameworks - I'd much prefer to vet on my own Ti terms lol.

Oh, I'm also socially ambiverted/more towards the introverted side in my older years (I'm 38) albeit I've always been on the ambiverted spectrum so to speak. I guess irrespective of level of social extroversion, there's a lot of overlap between the divergent ENFJ and INFJ & the ISTP. Maybe look at at your formative years & try to establish what formed the bedrock of your identity then; it was quite clear that my divergent Ti-Ni was locked in at the point & I consolidated my identity via Fe-Se through academia. We're quite a versatile type which isn't missed by CPT but is left out in MBTI land lol; I even hesitate to call myself an ENFJ in that system as inferior Ti simply doesn't make sense.

ok, went through it once (so need to go over it at least two more times, with subtitles so I'm sure I understand everything properly).
You CPT-typed me as ENFJ dominant with INFJ second (obviously you know, but a fyi for others that might read this so they know where I'm coming from).
I'm going to need to write this out in order to organize my words and hopefully I won't write a 50-page essay... (no promises :p ). I started, but it already took on a life of its own... lol
Anyway, I'll come back to this but for now... I've thought about this double type thing quite a bit over the last year and I've come to the opinion that it occurs to me that everyone has at least 2 personality types. One cognitive type (= the one you're born with and that remains the same one you die with. This one never ever changes). And a behavioral type (which changes according to the environment in which you find yourself). Because the behavioral type is the more observable one, it is (too) often mistaken as the 'only' personality a person has and leads to the logical mis-conclusion that a person's personality changes overtime. It doesn't. This is the problem I have with all those tests (including the Big 5): they are all behavioral based and they (in my opinion) have one humongous weakness: they do not account for a change of environment which can influence a change in behavior. They take a past and project it as a fixed future behavior without taking in to account the possibility of changing the environment in order to redirect the behavior.
Anyway... that's a whole different discussion... (see... 50-page essay coming up ROFL)

During our session I mentioned at some point how it occurred to me that the dominant function is the one you tend to understand and be able to explain very easily but are not consciously aware of that it is happening. In order to become aware of it, you need to actively force yourself to pay attention to it. Much like breathing. People breath but are very rarely aware of the fact that they are breathing. They just do. During sleep, when they're awake, even under narcosis or in a coma. People need to consciously put their attention on their breath (e.g. through meditation) in order to become aware that the air is entering the nose, moves down the throat and in to the chest and stomach. The more one trains in mediation the further down they learn how to 'feel' or be 'aware' of the breath traveling. You don't notice the air in your stomach the first or second time you meditate. It's a learning curve. This is the air you're talking about.
People breath air, fish swim in water. The dominant function is the breathing, the swimming. You do it automatically, without thinking about it, without even being conscious that you're doing it. It's only when it is taken from you that you suddenly realize your need of it (quite literally to survive).
For the auxiliary function it's the other way around. You are fully aware and conscious when it happens but can't quite understand it or explain how it works. It is a tool, a piece of equipment that you are fully aware of when it is activated.

I've thought a lot about the two types over the last year since I was typed. More specifically about the differences in their similarities and the similarities in their differences.
INFJ, it seems to me, are as you say more observers of other people's feelings. Unlike what is commonly ascribed to the ENFJ, it seems to me that it is the INFJ who is more likely to be able to pinpoint who is feeling what in a room. Contrary to the ENFJ, the INFJ would not be personally bombarded with the feelings/atmosphere/emotions of others but the INFJ would 'know', consciously, which emotions were coming from where. A more detached knowing than the personal undergoing of the feeling. Which, in my opinion, makes the INFJ a much more reliable counsel with regard to identifying source and type of any given emotion/feeling than the ENFJ.
The ENFJ, on the other hand, can become overwhelmed by the incoming emotional signals which they will experience as their own and often not know where it comes from. If the ENFJ is not aware of their type and what is characteristically their tendency, they will simply 'feel' something without knowing why. Often they won't even stop to think about it. They'll just react (get sad, angry, feel anxious, want to leave the place, feel annoyed with people, ... feel glad, happy, joyous, peaceful, ... ). An ENFJ must train themselves to become aware of their feelings, while they are feeling it, and not just undergo it. Where the INFJ often is quite aware of this process consciously, they know it's not 'them'.
This makes it more difficult for the ENFJ until they are aware of it. Then they can turn their dominant function (in pairing with their Ni) into a powerful source of help to others. However it will always be more difficult to them to distinguish their own from other people's emotions.
I believe this makes INFJ's much better to identify source and type of emotion and with the help of their Fe they can be much more capable of identifying the best solution.
      but then...
For the application and implementation of that solution, one best turns to the ENFJ who can identify with the emotional state, articulate the necessary conversational narratives and activate the needed social skills to bring the solution to fruition.
It seems to me that an INFJ/ENFJ pairing would be quite a team to help others.

I'm INFJ. If the social disharmony directly involves me, then I have a tendency to detach for a while because I need space to think. If the disharmony involves others and I'm simply an observer, I'll try to mediate. I am innovative when it comes to resolving other people's relational issues.
I think my boyfriend is ENFJ and it stresses me out each time I'm forced to talk and resolve issues between us right then and there without being given time to think and ruminate. I tend to be "toxic" and harsh with my words when he does it. It's like I want to deliberately hurt them so they'd leave me alone. On the other hand, he HATES it so much when I detach.
    So our pattern involves:
    1. Me demanding space
    2. Him refusing
    3. Me verbally hurting him
    4. Him getting triggered
    5. Us yelling, cursing, and insulting each other
    6. Us both detaching from the heated situation
    7. Time to reflect
    8. Us cooling down
    9. One approaches the other for a calmer, more rational talk
    10. Resolving the issues finally
    11. The emotional soothing which includes apologies, hugs, etc.
It's been working for us. Some might argue that the verbal abuse and insults are unhealthy but, first, we are Asians. Second, I'd like to keep those cathartic parts of our process and refuse to sanitize it. We need to feel as human as possible when we argue, so long as we don't kill each other. We also know each other well enough and are secure enough about our relationship to understand what those words mean for us.

Ironically as an ENFJ I highly relate to a lot of what you've said. I hate emotionally charged situations with my partner who wants to talk and sort the issues out there and then whereas I need a heck of a lot of space to think about, never mind even formulating an adequate response. He's very Fi heavy as an Fi authority type and I find this extremely difficult as he perceived me as 'too rational'. When it comes to my own emotions it's a 'no go' area much of the time lol; evidently they are there and I try not to let me influence my decision making, although they inevitably do. I just think if he wants an Fi response, he's going to need to give me space to really ruminate on it 🧐

This has been one of the most amazing type comparisons I've seen. Especially how you explain the functions in action within the order that they are used in.
I've always been questioning if I were to be an infj due to other personality systems pointing towards what infj's mostly identify as in their systems. But the way you explain how the functions work within their order helped me confirm even more that I really am an Enfj within how I see myself doing the things I do.
Question though can you see the functions being used through speech patterns? Because you explained through behavioral patterns and was wondering if you can also see them within how people speak.

It’s been more than two month I have stopped watching all the horoscope like content on youtube and stuck with your channel.
At first, I thought I was Ni dom for sure but since I watched your Isfj video I came to realize that I might be one since I am constantly using Si to determine when I previously used intuition.
I wouldn’t be surprised to discover that am actually Fi dom but I doubt it too.
The one thing I am sure of is that my Fe is connected to my se and my Te to Ne and both pair would be divergent since I always understand cpt (and everything) better when reflecting on my own.
All that to say that I am grateful for you to put such quality content on UA-cam for free access and also to ask for an Istj video please.

.What would be the functions of someone who since childhood has been extremely solitary, introverted and imaginative, who put people in groups according to the perception they gave him, who could feel when situations were good or bad, who felt the emotions and discomfort of the environment but who was also apathetic about everything and everyone, and almost always spent time in his mind imagining fictitious scenarios, that in his adolescence he was also introverted and lonely, imaginative, cold apathetic, but that he still felt the emotions and discomfort of others, that he has always felt empty, without any definition or a defined personality, that he tries to fit in but his apathy does not let him, that he is passionate about understanding human behavior and that he understands and reads it but does not share it, he strives to behave the same way since he relies on the external to define himself, especially in what is right and wrong, that many times he feels that no one knows him completely since on the outside he looks like someone very calm and tender but hides anger and pain, that day by day he does not know how to get out of that routine, apathy and boredom but when he does he feels the pain of others but the way he looks at people and notices their suffering and feels that suffering, that he is in a state of apathy, daydreaming and feeling the pain and emotions of the environment?

    • @johnnymiller9622
      @johnnymiller9622 2 роки тому +5

Of course, ENFJ’s come in many “flavors.” I’m more toward the ESTP end of the ENFJ spectrum. But, in my experience, self-pity and being very low are extremely uncommon and as such, when I’ve been very low after excruciating loss (death of parents or friends), it took medication and talk therapy to get me back to “normal.” Those of us on the more extraverted end of the spectrum, struggle more to self-reflect and can even be avoidant of processing things like grief and loss, because our “default” is to keep plugging away, taking care of everyone else instead of facing our introverted demons, which of course is absolutely necessary to move forward.
Otherwise, self-pity is not in my repertoire. If I’m not careful, I can and have been temporarily debilitated by others’ extreme suffering, but that’s also relatively rare.
I hope you get more answers.

He's got leadership skills, is great at talking to people- even people in interviews who start out in wild disagreement with him, most of the time- and he can be terribly blunt, yet, he cries and is very genuine with his feelings and disarms one all over again. Even if one wasn't in need of it. The way he spoke of that swimsuit model was a prime example of being blunt at the risk of losing the good he's cultivated with some. I know those arent' the exact words you used, but I think you know what I mean.

Which leaves a question. Is it possible to change types throughout time.....?🤔

    • @Taznar
      @Taznar 2 роки тому +1

Yeah I've wondered about this sort of thing too and am in a similar boat. It all boils down to whether someone believes in "true type" or not. To me it makes perfect sense to change type over time (to some capacity), but that inadvertently tears down the validity of MBTI because it's no longer a personality classifier and now a "mood" or maybe "stage of life" classifier (which is the biggest critique of MBTI and why it isn't as accepted as Big Five, for example). So people don't really like to take that stance.
I don't think you will necessarily know your "true type" until you reach (or nearly reach) individuation. Since this is all based off of Jung's work you have to take into account his ideas on true self in my opinion. If you are just bouncing around in an unconscious ego driven state like 90% of us are, then of course the way you perceive the world is going to be different than it would be when you are free of that. Someone can definitely identify you in a moment, but 5 years later will you still be that person?

    • @minellapayne5796
      @minellapayne5796 2 роки тому +1

Thank you for that. I feel that the core part of a person does not change. I.E. the individualized perception of moral character, but the experiences of one's life may shed light or cast shadow on the ideas, beliefs and perceptions of other's moral character. Which, in turn, may shift the quickness of decisions made of one's own character when observing another's. I think that the time put into addressing traumas throughout life allows a new way of handling situations in areas that were a struggle before. Does not a processing change within the brain take place when one in thinking takes place? Wouldn't these changes also change the "personality typing"? I'm not the same person I was 5 years ago, or 10 years ago. Thankfully, I'm not quite the same person I was 12 months ago. I do not know what I'm thinking is correct, but it makes sense. If I'm incorrect, please let me know so I may understand.

I’m undecided as to whether your core changes though. I want to think it doesn’t change and that it might even be there since birth, but then again it almost feels naïve to think that since humans are really complex things and you are learning for so long in your life. Hard to tell I guess 🤷‍♂️
I also wonder that if somehow humans are all fundamentally the same. Like is there a core human value system that just gets interpolated through your experiences, upbringing, culture, evolutionary traits, etc.

I think to a degree the inverse is true: it can be more difficult to determine whether someone has autism contingent upon cognitive type. I'm an ENFJ & autism is difficult to detect with Fe doms. Of course we have the ye olde conundrum of what constitutes autism as I think it's an umbrella term for a number of rather distinct aetiologies. Conversely, in some types such as the INTJ autism could be much easier to detect or misattribute. Fundamentally, we all use cognitive processes irrespective of whether we're neurodivergent or not.

From my experience, Fi shouldn't always feel like SJW-stereotype, that's pretty much just a harmful stereotype and I find it really sad people are making this stuff around Fi, like they're annoying Twitter users who're interested in fanwars or creating endless discussions about political stuff or something, although this kind of behaviour is much more prominent among convergent Fe users actually, I know that cause my close friend is an ENTP, I never felt like I need to regulate external emotional order, let other people live and mind your own business, so no wonder people don't want to assosiate with that stuff.
Fi actually feels very subtle but strong, like you know your values but can't really open up easily to other people, this can cause us to look like Ti-users but Ti-users aren't like that, they're observing values from logical standpoint, not the other way round like Fi-users, sometimes I'm feeling a bit lazy explaining my feelings/values to other people but if others tells me something along the lines with my Fi - I can pinpoint my values easily, it's like "Yes, that's exactly what I'm thinking". I believe this is related to divergent aux. Te which actually observes and adheres to external logic, not creating your own like many Ti-users, that's how I'm doing as well, I was never really interested in creating new theories, I find this to be kinda boring and unnecessary but using already existing one which I'm feeling close to/which proved to be efficient (Fi+Te mindset) - this is my go-to way of doing things actually, at least that's how I feel it, being an INTJ, I was confused for a long time if I'm the one, and I'm still kind of uncertain, need more time to research but I've read CPT, both editions actually and it's very fitting
Sorry if this is a bit hard to understand, English isn't my native but I tried to make this as simple as possible, don't forget that any person is using all functions, type is nothing more than a PREDISPOSITION towards one or the other way of thinking. Remember this is about your cognition, behaviour is very loosely related to your cognitive type. I hope that helped a little!

@@cielntphantomhive That's completely ok, I'm feeling the same, but the thing we're feeling, I believe, isn't really related to Fi, it's more of an Ni feeling/sensation, that's why we can't really pinpoint what's going on inside, like it's way too much and way too hazy to even understand, I actually stopped trying. I'm trusting my Ni-Fi vision and it's helping me to move on with my life by setting goals, choosing right people etc etc, there's no need to overanalyze everything in our lives after all, sometimes you can live perfectly without it.
Feelings in the case of Ni-Fi stack can be very vague and unclear, sometimes I'm not even sure where to start describing, especially when it comes to communicating these feelings to other people with different cognition and I understand perfectly that I'm kinda leaning towards long conversations and detailed analysis of my feelings, I can talk endlessly about it, especially if I'm getting full attention and, what even more important, correct questions which can lead me and provide useful information. Without it I'd rather lean towards Te mindset, you know, kind of a harsh black&white approach, is it useful or not. Sometimes people can refer to me as a "cold/distant" cause of it, but that just means I see no possibilities to be open with them
