    Such a simple device but such cool sounds. You get two great reverb algorithms with a toggle to select between them (Room and Hall); a recessed knob to control the reverb amount, and a very large and friendly Cream knob for more boost and drive. The Fat Shuga is not a gain machine. Rather it is a low to medium gain (at best) booster that injects some seriously cool amp-like crunch into your sound. You can then dress it up with one of the reverbs and off you go. Too easy. I like it.

    Just when I thought I had enough dirt pedals, you go and demo this! Perhaps a certain 'Stones song tone is the inspiration? Very nice indeed.

    This pedal suits the P90 pick-ups particularly well. I always have thought that guitar sounded good, but just having the pedal on in it's minimal position really enhanced the tone in a flattering way. Might be the best T-Rex pedal available.

      Agree, the crunchy frog, I have heard of people using it for just that. Good replacement.

    That gat looks very cool! Wonder how it would go in the loop of a drri style circuit?

    Surprisingly good. They are variety of this multi-funcitional units analog/hybrid or not that sound horrible. The reverb is subtle almost like it's looped in the back end.

    I wonder how it would do at the end of the chain as a volume boost with reverb. I’d rather have delay like the T. rex Emimie but you can’t find that pedal anywhere.

    great review! Can you mention how it compares as an always on pedal compared to Echoplex type pedala like the Xotic EP? thanks brother.

    I might be wrong but I think the Reverb should be ON all the time. Cool unit and great demo :)

    Hi Brett - awesome demo, as usual. The boost and reverb both sound great. Question, is it possible to use the reverb without turning on the boost? If not, do you see that as a downside, in the sense that you get reverb only when you step on the pedal to boost your signal for taking a solo? Thanks!

    it seems weird reverb and boost in one pedal. I would use boost in front of an amp and reverb in a loop. how to use this one?

    This pedal is absolutely great as stand alone and always on thing, but It gives me the impression of a little fragile design.

    No one has mentioned that there is an internal trim-pot for the volume boost. I keep mine set to give just a tiny bit of volume boost when engaged and the knob only changes the amount of gain. Perfect for thickening up a Strat bridge pickup.

      Please advise, thanks....How do you adjust the internal trim pot? And where is it located inside the pedal? Strat player.

    • @ivan_emege
      @ivan_emege 5 місяців тому +1

      That hidden trim-pot works like a volume knob. It’s very sensitive so you should experiment slowly. There’s a sweet spot where minimum volumen is added, so the cream button ads no boost to the signal, only the ‘cream’ cooked tubes thing.
      You should recognize the trim-pot as a black round piece with a white allen shape cavity.

    The boost section sounds awfull lot like the luxury drive, which in my book is a very good thing :)
    Hot tele > good booster > Laney tube amp = wonderful things happen :)
    Ps. Godt arbejde t-rex endnu et pletskud fra den østjyske pedalmafia :)

    It sounds like its modeled after a clapton mid-boost circuit when he has up boosted all the way.

    Hey Brett Cheer's OK how would you compare this to the EP booster from Xotic I use it in my clean loop of my old Tonemaster with great results but the Tonemaster has no reverb so I'm thinking maybe this or the Monkeyman from J Rocket What do yo think ? Thanks and best wishes for 2020

      As well I'm not a huge fan of reverb so not critical LOL 😁 A Flint would really fill the bill though

    Where does it go on the board if you like a boost in before your gain, and Reverb last?

    • @peterosipov400
      @peterosipov400 3 роки тому

      I prefer reverb before gain. You can also put it into the end of the chain to use reverb and to boost your amp, not your pedals

    a one knob combined boost and reverb sounded utterly stupid to me at first, but wow, it's actually really smart.
