    As a Private Pilot myself, I can tell you ALL responsibility of the flight belongs to the Pilot! Louis seemed to have a history of making poor or bad decisions. He should have Never been hired for ANY Commercial Pilot position! Just say: "NO!" to the individuals whining and crying about getting to their destination! The FAA should also hold some responsibility, in my opinion. How did Louis EVER get a job as a Commercial Pilot?!? Beats the hell out of me! Maybe (surely) the company that hired him also ought to be held accountable. They didn't perform a background check? You kidding me?!?

    As a lawyer I had to back up my Uber driver client who refused to put too many people in a vehicle. The passengers grew abusive and had him suspended for weeks for holding his ground. I flew a Cessna when I was young and could afford it. Once a friend paid me to fly him and two friends from upstate New York into Teterboro. When they showed up the had too much baggage AND wanted to bring a small motorcycle. I told them there was no way that this plane could fly so grossly over weight. These non pilots told me there were always safety built into the formula, and this plane could handle it. I said no. The plane was a flying club rental and in great shape after an hour one of the passengers got scared and decided to stay,and take the bike home.I arranged the baggage and told people where to sit, which also pissed them off.i had weighed each bag and estimated the passengers individual weight,and found we were within 200 lbs of max weight.the flight was a nightmare: there were head winds and we burned through fuel at an incredible rate. Though the plane should have made it with the fuel on board, we had to stop at an AF bade in Rome NY. Now the passengers realized that we were pushing the envelope even being under weight. I was worried that they would buy a bunch of items in the three days we spent there, but we actually left 100 lbs lighter, and we had a tail wind going back. I am sure if I would have listened to them we would have never made it. As it was. I was almost kicked out of the club because we were so heavy both ways. I was amazed that people who knew nothing about flying would argue with a trained pilot,and risk their lives over what they just believed.

      The amount of ignorance by non-pilots is sometimes incredible. After obtaining my commercial pilot licence in Canada (single engine, land), people just assumed I could also legally fly a helicopter. LOL. I feel sorry for the pilots who fly chartered planes full of entitled people like rich pro sports teams or other rich people. They've got all of this knowledge and are just treated like servants, while everyone on board acts like morons. Sometimes they have to take a group somewhere, wait for a couple of days, then take them back.

      @@alukuhito it's a complex and complicated thing to fly aircraft with many different training requirements for the myriad types .
      I once boarded the wrong sightseeing flight in Alaska.
      I sat in front seat next to the pilot. Unexpectedly I was far more amazed and fascinated with the pilots job and expertise than I was with the scenery. It was a major life lesson for me. BIG respect to all pilots and crew.
      The other "teaching moment was the tragic story of JFK Jr. and family killed in that plane crash.
      Against all professional advice he purchased and flew a plane he was NOT completely qualified to fly.
      He was not instrument rated so when the weather turned bad he couldn't sight fly and it was at night.
      His rich entitlement likely made him believe he could defy training requirements, the weather, etc. and still be okay. He was after all JFK Jr.
      Sadly he got told a big NO that night as he likely flew the plane into the water.

      Far too many red flags and I'm not just talking about the plane weighting too heavy.
      Her reluctance to fly
      Why was the passengers insistence on leaving thst day as the video rapped a day early.
      Why this plane?
      Lenny Kravitz offered his to aaliyah yet hype flew in that one.
      Why did they need to go to Bahamas hype had plenty great shots in Miami?
      Who gave aaliyah a seditive... could that be to incapacitate her?

      All of these factors are suspicious.

    I remember when this happened, but I never knew the full scope of the tragedy. This is pure negligence, arrogance, and the Dunning-Kruger effect. I think Dr. Grande was right: The pilot was afraid of losing his license, so he made the worst choice possible. He should never have been allowed to fly in the first place.

    • @Picsio64
      @Picsio64 7 місяців тому +3

      I don't believe the Dunning-Kruger effect is related to this case. It is defined as the tendency of people with low ability in a specific area to give overly positive assessments of this ability. The pilot was a simple fraudster who conned his way into becoming qualified for a job he was unqualified to perform. It's not that he was unaware of his incompetence but out of fear of being discovered, chose to ignore basic safety.

    • @yusefendure
      @yusefendure 7 місяців тому +4

      @@Picsio64 The Dunning-Kruger effect is a cognitive bias. The pilot overestimated his ability to fly because he assumed he could perform his duties with poor training and forged documentation, and he thought that he could do drugs with no negative outcome. He sounded like a cocky know-it-all who didn't know squat. This guy was probably in a state of ignorant bliss, believing that he could be a pilot while ignoring the complexity of flying airplanes. Fraudsters and con artists are smart. This guy was a fool stuck in the stage of unconscious incompetence. His confidence far exceeded his piloting abilities, and as a result, he killed 8 people. This is a textbook case of the Dunning-Kruger effect.

    This entire disaster was 100% gross pilot incompetence, including the company that brought him in at the last moment to have Aaliyah as their customer. I've spent many hours in small aircraft . . . ALWAYS, full pre-flight checklist, weight and balance verification, and of course, pilot competency is at the top of the list. If it's an inexperienced pilot, always have a more senior co-pilot, and of course, never ever any sort of intoxication. Alcohol effects are amplified at upper elevations, the 402 is a non-pressurized aircraft (that makes a huge difference). I don't care what sort of complaining was going on, this plane should have never left the ground in those circumstances. RIP Aaliyah

He let me fly for 5 mins up in the air. Of course there was nothing to do. It was fun. I remember I asked him when was the most dangerous time in a flight and he told me at take off. I had always assumed landing but he confirmed it was take off as the plane was at it's highest speed and everything had to work just right, for lift off. He said a hundred things can go wrong. The pilot didn’t exercise his right to follow the rules with his authority and knowledge of what was right and what was wrong. I wonder if he would have let the same people bully him into potentially driving them on a bus trip with a bus with faulty brakes just because they were impatient. I just can’t understand how he got in that overloaded plane knowing it would not go well.

      That was confusing as well. It was almost like he said “fck it, you find out I am right when we crash”. I have been pretty pissed off before but never enough where I would risk my own life and the others around me. He’s in no position to do anything if he can’t show discernment and good judgement.

    As a former pilot listen to what the pilot says about weight and any other safety concerns. Remember Kobe Bryant, he probably pressure pilot into taking them to their basketball game and look what happened.
    In this case the pilot knew they had a weight issue, but he was intimidated by the celebrity status of its passengers and look what happened here.

      How mentally unstable, unhinged, ignorant, and pompous are you to make an assumption like that when you have absolutely NO PROOF? You were not there. At all. Word of mouth and hearsay dont count either, use your brain it's there for a reason.

      You still believe these stories? So why did the other educated dummies get on the plane with Kobe? There was no urgency for her to fly, and nobody would’ve rushed it. But y’all will believe it because you believe anything when it involves Black people. They can tell you the most ridiculous story and you still believe it. They tell you Black people wanted to be citizens and y’all believe it. Why would we want anything to do with people who hate us?? 🤔 I see they can tell you anything

    It's said that Lenny Kravitz donated his private jet for Aaliyah because of her fear of flying in small planes but her selfish video producer took it instead of letting Aaliyah have it. Not sure if this is true but this ENTIRE thing was unnecessary and sounds very suspicious to me, even considering the pilots role. I wish they would reopen the case. So many people have died under suspicious circumstances in this insanely slimy industry.
