Letting the enemy kill that hive so you could run the mission again to get your vid over 10min was a good UA-cam strat Grant. Excited to see the rest of the campaign.
Isn’t it like 8 minutes nowadays?
@@GuckDaBaws He hasn't gotten that update.
lmao 300iq
@@GuckDaBaws 8 mins for what?

It's funny that the first and only thing Fenix comments in this cinematic is what exactly she has in mind and ends up happening
Curse your sudden and inevitable betrayal!
She’s fully planning to take control of all the Zerg, but what she says about the UED is also true. If only she hadn’t said “Wrong” to Fenix, it would have been a nice bit of verbal gymnastics to not *technically* lie. But alas, telling Fenix his correct assumption was wrong was, in fact a bold-faced lie.
@@chrayez Being technically right isn't the best way to instill confidence in your allies. Lying was the appropriate move, assuming the Protoss do not have Detect Lies cast.
yeah but remember in the UED campaign when DuGalle is like "i'm not gonna trust a traitor" and a few missions later is like "what? the traitor tells me my best friend betrayed me? go kill him then!"
"If someone knows the mechanics [of the zerg campaign]". Well heck, I guess that might apply to me.
If you lose an already resuced hive, you lose, just like here. The trigger looks for any hive on the map that dies and immediately ends the mission in defeat.
I suspect in the speed run you just let some buildings die, but complete it before they manage to kill the hive.
Hybrid on Tarsonis? Impossible!
Would you be silent? I'm trying to think!
YESSSS! Most iconic campaign EVER.
>Enables Radio Free Zerg
I control the way you move.
Oh boy, I sure can't wait to see Kerrigan as a pure evil bad ass in StarCraft 2. Hahaha....
Oh, so you don't like the burning angel of bullshit holiness? Who would have thought?
"of course, the moebius data cores" *continues to kill random buildings for 10+ minutes*
@@Salted_Fysh When a literal swarm that had completely infested could have destroyed each building, Kerrigan had to destroy them herself tbf. Not the brightest move.
@@Salted_Fysh The thing is: she acts like everything is clear to her now but she does the same thing she did before we destroyed the first data core.
I miss the Queen Bitch of the Universe
I really liked the look of Duran in the original brood war over the sc2 version they made here. he just looks so smug most of the time and it fits him so well.
This custom model was modified from Colonel Orlan's model, which is why it doesn't really look like Duran at all.
Impossible! Hybrid on Tarsonis! It is they who have been leading the Zerg!
"Would you be quiet?" Karax, "solarite!"
Love how the queen of alien bugs knows there is nothing good to expect from earth based on its history
I think Blizzard agreed with your ideas. I feel likr that is almost exactly what yhe mission Dissension from the WC3 human campaign ended up being.
Last mission in this campaign terrified me as a kid, I never beat it without cheats until last year (after a 20 year hiatus)
I was a noob krts player as a kid and I never passed the first 2 missions. Finishing last year felt like I just graduated from college or something
Gotta go fast, but not so fast you miss out on a whole enemy wave.
Ready for queen bish of the universe's wild ride
Hybrid on Tarsonis? IMPOSSIBLE! -- Artanis probably.

Meanwhile Duran is whistling on the background lol
Remenber when Kerrigan used to be a villain? Good times
She still is, don't believe the Anti-Mengsk Propaganda! /s
@@yonokhanman654 more like blizzard propaganda.
They just straight up make her a hero from heart of the swarm onward when she was clearly set up to be the main villain in brood war
Meh. She was not a good villain. Win because of plot. Not that she's any better in SC2. She's still a bad character, she's just no longer a villain.
Also she was never set up to be the main villain in brood war. Duran was...
Sadly SC2 story completely ruined him by having him do nothing for 99% of the game and have him killed over a DBZ beam fight with Kerrigan. They just had no idea how to continue the story with him, so they just wrote him off... I'd say Kerrigan got better treatment to be honest. At least there was an effort put into her redemption (admittedly it comes off as half-assed, but I'll give a B for effort). Narud/Duran on the other hand just gets benched and trashed. It's like they put him there solely out of obligation.
@@manolgeorgiev9664 she was a good villain tho. best villain in SC1, tricks a fuck ton of people and kills some very important characters (even tho in SC2 they simply replace duke whit warfield, they both being basically the same character, but that dosent make the death of duke any less meaning in the context of SC1)
further more, she was set up to be the main villain, since most people didnt knew about that secret mission whit Duran, so they probably went into SC2 thinking Kerrigan was going to be the main bad guy and that, while playing Raynor, they would have the opportunity to kill her
I think if this mission had something similar to the mechanics of the Nova Covert Ops mission where you progressively add to the zerg forces (Flashpoint, I think) where you can select 1 type of unit and you get "x" amount of that unit for the next push to a hive. This will still keep it a "no-build" mission, but allows more flexibility in builds, but will have the downside of players simply choosing the OP builds to get through quickly.
I think if each Hive rescued gave you some minerals and gas as well as the tech of the surrounding structures rescued, then it would be quite good. You just train whatever units you want with the tech you have, but only for a little bit because you'll run out of resources quickly and the enemy Zerg are quick to attack the other Hives.
It would be a great way to quickly re-introduce you to all the Zerg units without having to wait several missions like in the first Zerg campaign.
I love how the UED did in a couple of years after a decade of observation and study what took Amon 13.8-13.9 billion years. Just so slow for an elder god no?
My understanding was Amon had control of the original overmind from the very beginning... but yeah, having such fine control over an alien organism with minimal if any direct observation and experimentation strains credulity.

I understand what you mean here, Grant. I do think it would have been interesting, but I feel like that kind of mission design was a bit out of the creative capabilities of the genre at that time. A bit too evolutive of a mission type, and I don't think the creators would've been confident the player would have understood what was happening and what to do, either. I agree that this mission is somewhat easily forgettable, but they were already trying something new with the no-build time pressure. At least it's still less painful than Protoss 06's blink and get blown up, and definitely more dynamic than SC2's no-build missions.
Man, this campaign use to be so intimidating as a kid. It had so many hard missions, and To Slay the Beast was the hardest of them all. Though the first missions is more of a puzzle than a challenge
I really like this mission. I agree it's just a dumb short and sweet fun, but it felt kinds dynamic just going hive after hive steamrolling everyone.
(iirc the Zerg campaign even has 1+ mission compared to the others)
Mandatory comment saying I love this playthrough and thank you so much for all the content you provide.
I just got Mass Recall working on my game computer!
LETS GOOOOOOO 😁😁 I've been anticipating this campaign the most
I was screaming at my monitor to turn around at 5:45 There's that second wave that spawns in after the first.
A short mission so nice you do it twice.
In fairness, it makes SENSE to lose the mission if a hive is destroyed...
Also, while your suggestion for make this a 'light build' mission sounds good, it doesn't strike me as all that different from the mission as designed. It's probably better than what we got, but not by a wide margin.
Hunter Killers let's gooooo
Oh shit lads, LETS GO
I would have the larva come under your control, the hive doesn't make more.
Man, I was really hoping by this point that a lot of the custom models would look better. I've been vaguely following this mod for about a decade at this point, possibly more. It seems not much has happened in the past several years. I've seen other mods with some really good custom models.
Pog
Do they also have the bonus mission from the portable version?
Lol, fail. You gotta admit that was funny Grant.
Gonna take a guess and say "fury of the swarm" is the "non-banger" he's referring too. This is my favorite campaign but I can't stand that mission. Island mission on 1 gas makes it any annoying slog. Trying to secure a base off the island can be a chore
He's mentioned that he doesn't like the mine 10000 minerals mission.
It's mission 3 where the best way to play is to sit and mine 10k minerals. He'll probably clear a good chunk of the map, but the mission itself either takes 10 minutes or 40.
@@josuebecerra461 I actually like that mission. It was sufficiently difficult for my limited skill level and gave the choice whether to mine 10k as fast as possible or go for full clear and get all the command centers infested. I like Phoenix' commentary as well.
@@7thAce oh wow I actually really enjoy that one for that. Multiple ways to tackle it
I suspect he means the Kel-Morian combine, he spoke on it last episode (I think?), which is a mission where you mine 10k minerals and have to keep old Man Fenix alive.
Random comment for channel interaction.
Duran? More like Mudan
11mins and 2 attempts, that's a short mission
Wait? Feral zerg? I through it was the UED's zerg, they are not feral, right?
Not quite. They haven't figured out how to control the zergs yet, only disrupt their connection to the overmind/cerebrates.
@@PhaxtolgiaLetsPlay oh, ok. Thank you.
These zerg would normally be under Kerrigan's control, but the psi disrupter broke that control.
Impossible! hybrid on tarsonis.
"Are there hybrid on Tarsonis?"
Umm... about the guy that sent you here... I mean Duran isn't a hybrid but...
Hybrids on Tarsonis? Impossible!
Ya i think being able to pick your reinforcement would have been better design
Does anyone knows if you are playing as the same cerebrate as in the base game?
I’m pretty sure you are which is why Kerrigan spares you specifically
the Cerebrate is the chad of the Zerg campaigns. Basically carrying the whole hive on his back and doing all the hard work.
Dear Grant, where do you find this campaign?
After 20+ years I still dont get, how the psi disruptor helps to use the zerg.
Zerg can be controlled by just regular psychics but also drugs and such. This doesn't normally work because the overmind is way too powerful. Disrupting that connection turns the zerg much more docile
When the UED already controls the overmind, why do they have the Psi Disruptor still active?
Not all of the Zerg are controlled by the baby Overmind. Kerrigan's Broods are the best example, but not the only one.
Wait, this is the last campaign? Did I miss "Enslavers"? Or does that not get Mass Recall-ed?
Didn't he die to that exact same thing during his 24 hour Brood War run?
I actually would disagree. The first mission is giving you units to make sure you learn how to use them. It's forced learning, but I would rather have that then someone just building zerglings and hydra the whole way through. I think the design is fine.
This isn't the first mission though, its the 47th mission.
Why is Kirkin on drugs
I absolutely hate this campaign. Most horrible authors will just kill and torture your favorite characters, but the writing staff at Blizzard makes *you* kill and torture your favorite characters.
i have a name for what you said, narrative prostitution, using a character making it suffer of make it suffer others for the lulz, for the shock value without progress and development
Gotta disagree with you on changing the game mechanics of the level, I’m in favor of keeping it true to the original.
