I think you should be careful don't ask people on street about the exchange place but probably go in the any bank and ask them whether they deal with it
South Africa is a safe and free place but word of advice, don't walk on short cuts or where there are not a lot of people.. For accurate directions ask only the security guards..

Exactly tell him. South Africa is not like in the UK where people don't greet each other even in most offices meaning work. When you greet some of your work colleagues especially some Whites just look at you and not respond.

Just a note, South Africa is not a walkable country. Everything is far apart similar to the USA NOT like Europe. When we say 5 mins, we mean by car not walking. As you can see, there aren't a lot of people walking and there are taxi's, trains, buses, Uber, Bolts etc for people who don't have their own cars. The train is faster than driving so try the Gautrain.
Also, we don't use a lot of cash here. We pay using cards and Apps. Most places accept European cards, but check first and carry cash just incase your card isn't accepted (mostly in the smaller stores). Some Uber drivers won't even come if you select cash payment.

South Africa is a walkable country depending on where you are. People dnt walk in the suburbs because the suburbs are built around cars not walking

South Africa or do you mean in Jozi?, there are walkable places in other provinces.
People love to hang around malls here , because you can take your laptop to a restaurant and do some work there , security is tight , food nearby, banks , cinemas. And see beautiful people around. Don't be surprised if people suggest that you visit a dozen malls .

1. Uber, don't walk - it's not worth the risk
2. Don't discuss anything to do with money on your content or with strangers on the street
3. Be vigilant, you're on holiday, but becareful not to let tour guard down
4. Keep engaging with our amazing people. South African's are so kind and full of fun.

Where do u find money to travel?
You should've just gotten an uber,Sandton is not walkable,you have to drive if you don't wanna take forever to get to where you I wanna be,also you should've gone to Sandton City Mall,it's a much bigger and better mall with all the currency exchange you need.

Bad directions. Looks like the initial directions were to Sandton City mall, the big mall and the fruit guy on the street just sent you to a small centre . Then the car guard sends you to a totally different shopping centre Benmore which is even further😂😂. You were supposed to go to Sandton City

Great content! So Johannesburg is the 3rd highest city in Africa so the UV rays can cause harm if you have sensitive skin, that is why you will see some people walking around with umbrellas. Also walking is harder if you are not used to the higher elevation. I am sure you will get use to it after a few weeks.
He thought you were driving. In SA people don't walk that much hence you don't see a lot of people on the streets.

Combine with Menlyn Maine if you're going that side. But also please note that if you're walking around there, there is Alot of petty theft. Please be careful and make sure your phone is backed up if you're going to have it out to vlog. If you're looking for a nice little place to have a walk and get some good food, uber over to Hazelwood. It's not far from Menlyn, but I don't suggest walking. It's great that you're confident enough to walk around so freely, and thank you for the positive press, but do be vigilant out on our streets. We are a very friendly culture, but sadly alot of people resort to crime for either food or drugs. Try to find out where you can get a better deal . They charged you R 950 rands . That is a five day worth of groceries. We do have digital means , if they are cheaper to use , use them . The young generation hardly carries cash here .

It is beautiful here but please be very careful. Mind where you put your phone and your money and where you can use Uber use Uber. Sandton is generally safe though. You can also just use your Visa or Mastercard safer than cash.

You can actually just stick your card in an ATM and make a withdrawal and you’ll get money in local currency.

Just a word of caution...don't tell people you're going to get money.
Use an uber to go shopping. Plus it's safer inside the mall, not the streets. And don't ask questions that involve money in the streets. I don't want you to get hurt.
The problem with sprawling cities and suburbs is that they are not walkable and kinda kill the vibes. Some organised chaos makes a place lively. I don't understand the fun of hanging out in the malls. Reminds me much about sprawling Australian cities, developed, clean but with little vibe.

The first direction he had been given was to Sandton City I think. The fruit guy then redirected him to a shopping centre on Grayston drive, then car guard and the school kids sent him far to Benmore Gardens on Grayston. Poor guy walked for so long😂😂. But soon he will learn not to just anyone and to be very specific the kind of mall he wants. Also should be careful on befriending everyone and talking forever etc

Tyme, one thing I learned from visiting Africa is when they tell you 5 mins walk just go ahead and catch a taxi or uber because it's going to be a good 20 mins away LOL
