This is how I've been running most of my 150+ hours now. Two gathering palicoes with healing bubble and shock trap - one with vase and one with drum. Free sleep, shock trap, healing, de-debuffer and a boatload of materials is maybe even too much.
This is awesome. I run a similar setup with my palicos. I gave them both sleep weapons and tried to get ones with status attack up skill. Its such a rare setup to have all those in one!!
I’m almost the same, except one of mine has whirlwind assault instead of healing bubble and both of mine run power drum. I do have one with vase I can swap in instead though
I honestly don't miss the palamute much once I made the switch. Previously, I would get so aggravated while waiting for my dog to pop out of the ground or to finish healing himself. It just became too unreliable.

On some occasions, I actually didnt mind this cuz I'd be trying to get items like the remobra hide+, quality fins, and gajau whiskers (the whiskers being the worst among the small monster parts imo) since I tried to make every armor sets so far
I've been loving 2 gathering palicoes. Two or three times they plundered exactly what I was farming for so far. Though for multiplayer I will stick with a palamute to get around quicker
Perhaps some new gear to customize them further. Already Palamutes can do more than people realize, since they have scrolls that heal, buff and stagger, but it just doesn't hold a candle to Palico abilities such as Endemic Life Barrage, Pilfer and Shock Purr-ison.
Palamutes compliment builds where you’ll need to be sharpening a lot (protective polish, etc) AND/OR if you have no speed sharpening and could use the mobility while sharpening. otherwise palico seems like a good pick. Palamute is fun though so I’m sticking with 1 of each.
Imo the best skillset for gathering is -> endemic life barrage, either healing bubble/go fight win (depending if your weapon moveset uses stamina or not), drum, shock trap, pilfer - then with status up and either attack up s + ko King or ranged attack up

I'm pretty sure that my Palicoes have been a lifesaver online too since most of the time, everyone else uses Palamutes.
A gatherer plus an assist is waaay to damn fun. Assist also pull clutch in the rampages. But man Ima have to see wussup with these fighters, cuz 30% affinity added to the 76% I have on my SwAxe set, is waaay to damn crazy.
My assist palico has both the power drum, for attack and defense buff, and the "go, fight, win" for stamina boost. I've been using the same palico since I started the game since I named it after my cat. It's been putting in serious work haha.
There is a video by Ratatoskr testing the efficiency of palimutes' and palicoes' status application. Palimutes do trigger statuses faster, so don't ignore their offensive potential as well!
a yes felvine, my headcannon for my mh char is that he actualy smokes it since it seems is basicaly juiced cat weed also, it wold be cool if palamutes can shine on their own, but it seems that it makes sense that palicos may gather well, their are basicaly real tiny furry cuddly halflings, soo either the guild allows very good, resource gathering rigths to the felyne(for what i understand the explenation for the number of carves, besides, game logic time and space, is that while the hunter get his keeps, the guild usualy is charged with the majority of the dissecation ,relocating a inconsient monster), or flat out resourcefullnes, of the smaler sentient race on the mh world
And people wonder why I decided to play with my multiplayer friends with the Palico instead of the Palamute. Given I learned the speedy ways through the maps, and take advantage of the shortcuts. At worst, they may get somewhere only a few scant seconds before I do. But getting the cool extra items, and seeing the Palico-specific item usage and attacks are great. (I still like the land mine, both as an attack and a place where you can more or less safely sharpen or get a breather. Passive aggressive) I like to think of games like fighting/tactics games. I'm all about stuff that zones, and as a hunter, a Palico land mine is straight up zoning tactics.
I always use two palicos, either two gathering or one gathering and one fighter. Regardless though, they also have the status attack up skill, and I either equip them with either a paralysis or sleep weapon to get some extra damage in during the fights.
Do you know if they are doing a fan weapon contest again, if so im apparently good at art and i like sns and bow so i might try making something if they do a contest
That wouldn't surprise me. For the handheld games they usually do one after a few months of the game running. The contest usually goes after that so that they can have it ready for the G-Rank release. If I were you I would just keep an eye out for the announcement before the end of the year.
Just reading that made a sword-bow pop into my head. Sword could be connected by rope to a winch-like system on the bow, maybe get an extra hit on winding the sword back. Lookin like MK Scorpion with a bow. That may sound dumb but its just what popped into my head.
Okay so I've been running one gathering Palico on hunts with my Palamute, but I think I'm going to try out two gathering. I'm trying to find one with Power Drum, Healing Bubble, and Shock Purr-ison 🙏🏻
i use a gathering palico as my main, so online im getting some of those extra parts passively, plus the occasional shock trap. but i have to have a good boy with me as my second for single player. the mount speed just helps those solo hunts fly by so much quicker, plus i gave it a healing scroll so that always comes in handy.
2 palicos can be annoying sometimes when the monster runs away far where great wirebugs are not connecting the areas. Like going to the north west of the sandy plains. On in the Shrine ruins, from area 9/10 to area 6
I agree I little but i started keeping a mental list of the locations of the extra wirebugs in each locale are and then I find that even in multiplayer, if a monster is running away, I can sometimes get there before the rest of the party if I have three.
@@SuperMasterk1 I find that it depends on the route and if you have 3 bugs. Sometimes I really do be getting to my destination faster than a palamute, but the palamute works best when the route is mostly flat
@@KiwiOnTheTube honestly I do need to figure out the optimal routes anyways. Because since I've been using the palamute, I've just been going wherever since high mobility.
I’ve been thinking. Since Marvel and Capcom had a crossover with each other, My idea is that a Felyne accidentally gets transported into the modern world and the Felyne meets the Marvel heroes.
I’ve been trying to find a good Gathering palico for days now but I never get the skills and passives I want 😭 I really want one with Go, Fight, Win, Summeown Endemic Life, and Shock Purrison with Status Atk Up and Knockout King for when I swap over to bow so I can spam dash dances and the aerial silkbind move Fighter’s Rousing Roar provides Earplugs in addition to the 30% affinity! Very nice
In spite of the strengths of palicoes, I use 2 palamutes: Wolf Link and Golden Wolf. My main problem is I can’t figure out how to equip the memory skills. That said, I also have 2 palicoes, Mipha and Midna.
You go to the buddy board > Buddy skills > click palamute/palico and then select the one you want to adjust from there! The memory skills are based off the buddies level as to how many you can equip at once. The amount of dots next to a move means how many memory slots they use for the skill. I hope this helps!
I kinda feel like it wouldn't be so much of a stomp in favor of palicos if palamutes could just pick up an item or two from the monster- but I've gotten at least 3 gems or plates from my cat.(not even a dedicated gathering cat, either!) As people learn the maps more, unlock camps, and place giant wire bugs, I feel like eventually we'll see dogs dissappear for the most part. At first I wondered if two dog teams might be fun- now I'm starting to really think no dogs and just a little longer travel time will really sweep this.
Been rocking 2 Palicos for about a week now (1 gathering, 1 healer just in case) and only thing I really miss is the doggo drift. Although I think palamutes have slightly better DPS than non-Bombadier palicos. They also apply status effects quicker thanks to their multihit attacks. Tl;dr: Utility and efficiency - Neko-chan Damage and speed - Doggo-kun
I have 2 palicoes both with the skill that gives a wirebug and its so nice. In a fight they put them down and when the monster leaves the area I pick up the second one
i dont know if they might require some balancing i have tried to use palicos with status up and knock out king with blunt poison or para weapons but nothing actually happens most of the time :/ while the endemic like barrage...well we all know xD
I use three hunting set ups: Pure Hunt= Palamute+Healing Palico Pure Gather= Gathering Palico + Healing Palico Hunt and Gather= Palamute + Gathering Palico Healing Tree, Vase of Viality, and Health Horn are great... also my Gathering Palico came with Endemic Barrage, Power Drum, Healing Bubbles AND Shock traps. Clearly someone is overachieving.
I always use two cats, tried the dog for a bit cause it was the new thing and all but they're so useless for hunting and my dogs seem to be the most unresponsive thing ever, almost every hunt I'm already to the next area fighting the monster before it even lets me ride it. They're only good for money runs with Mining Outcrops when you never have to risk getting off and being denied a ride every other minute. :^)
They have a few other good mechanics to them. A double jump that lets you leap off and do an aerial without a wire bug. It also helps get over walls faster and you can use most items including healing and weapon sharpening which helps you get back to the fight faster. It just changes the flow of the battle for people that want it
Leave your Palicos training, go to the Arena, cart a lot, come back to your Palicos, profit. The Arena makes the time at the village move just like a quest, even if you cart, so time moves "faster".
BROOOOOO!!!!! I HAVE BEEN TELLING EVERYONE TO RUN DOUBLE GATHERING PALICO. My setup for moves usually includes some combo of power drum, monster mine, and shock trap. Also for skills I try to get a plaico with the Status Attack Up. If you can get those in a gathering palico, its almost like taking a fighting based palico with you.
I think people are failing to note that a palamute allows much easier/ quicker routing for getting spiribugs. Especially in multiplayer, if you only bring a palico you might be lower on health and Stamina than you'd like.
use the dojo, and an apple. Then pass time using the excursions to areas that have no time limit. You can gather stuff and leave, or just leave and one "day" will have passed. Do this 10 times and the cats will have gone through one cycle of training. It takes maybe an hour to max a cat out depending on whether you collect stuff or just back out of the expedition ten times, and then re-up the training for a few more cycles. The cats you can buy change each time the day cycles as well, so you can look for perfect skilled cats too.
For me the combination of 1 cute animal, with one adorable one - I find works best - it's a little overpowered - but I think the enjoyment makes up for it.
How do you get that fluffy cat? I don't see any options for that fluffy neck hair in the palico creator. I'm assuming its a layered armor but was it like a pre-order only thing?
It’s either preorder or purchasable DLC. Check the Eshop from the menu and see if it’s there, if not then it’s the preorder bonus but I’m sure it will be added to the store eventually.
I mostly play solo My ave hunt is around 6-8mins only It only add 1 or 2 materials for me when i tried the double palicos Unless im doing narwa or rampage So i go back from 1 palico and 1 dog
@@LimitedEye i do sometimes when I'm bored soloing monsters I also do rampage if i only need to and multi reduce that tedious nature a bit But solo is great specially if you wants to learn the monster move and other benefits like money reward teamates carting...

Um... Arekkz? Remember the Vaik S armor set? So i got everything from low and high rank and i have 3 Armored Bream. Here's the problem: the Armored Bream is the item that *unlocks* the set; but when i visited the smithy a few times, it wasn't there. The low rank version was there, but not the high rank version. What's going on?
@@xakuray5522 is that a joke!? *sigh* Of course it isn't. At least i can focus on Rathian while i finish collecting the Armored Bream. And i'm not complaining in terms of the Ironwall and Shield jewels. I checked on the Wiki and found out i need Narwa's parts. Considering the fact that the only things i can do now are focusing on forging Rathian's armor and upgrading my 3 SnS (Bishaten, Magnamalo and Rathalos), i can relax a bit. All i need from Rathalos is a plate and i already have 2, i need a Pruple Orb from Magnamalo and i suppose it can wait. And Bishaten's Sns i can already consider it fully upgraded.
@@jacktheomnithere2127 actually I checked on kiranico, apparently there are two triggers. One that is getting an armored bream, the other one is unknown to me and unknown to me (village_2 or hub_2). I would assume it's story related that's why I would recommend progressing the story. Make sure to also catch a few speartunas (HR frosted Island). I'm not sure if you struggling progressing through the story, but you can always do join requests if you have access to online. I'm not sure why you want the vaik armor though, it's mostly used by gunners considering the limited amount of equipment dedicated to them they have access to, you should be able to find a better option for any blade master weapon.
Can anyone tell me what the sharpness rating on a weapon means? I'm new to this series, I understand what the sharpness gauge means for all weapons and using a whetstone etc., but when you're forging new weapons each has it's own sharpness rating and this is what I don't understand. For example in the equipment info the bone kukri II has a damage rating 110 and yellow sharpness, the Izuchi Sickle II has 80 damage and green sharpness, which is better? Is this like a penetration rating, where it can cut through armored monsters better but does less damage? Or is it how long it retains sharpness? Something else?
The length of the bar indicates how long a particular color of sharpness will last. The better the sharpness color, the more the indicated damage value is multiplied. Yellow is essentially base sharpness, with a 1.0x multiplier, meaning the damage comes out to what you started with. Green is a little higher, at 1.05x, but it's more consistent because yellow sharpness has what you might describe as dull zones, if you don't hit a sweet spot on your attacks you get way less than 1.0x damage. Blue is the next sharpness you'll see as you play, and jumps up to 1.2x damage. Attacks will bounce off of monsters if the hardness of their armor on that body part beats your sharpness level. So some tails, some heads, and some front legs/arms are extra tough, and if you're bouncing off even though your weapon is in its highest sharpness color, you're way better off hitting the monster somewhere else. When you bounce off you end up degrading weapon sharpness more quickly than normal strikes. There are some armor skills that keep you from bouncing off hard armor, as well as some weapons have certain attacks that will not bounce ever.

The game didn't feel good to me until I stopped using the palamute. It was a great move by Capcom to make them optional.
Running two bomb cats since i started the game, set them both up with matching bomb skills ( 3 of them) flash for both, squad always has your back
Being able to move while sharpening is a nice plus to the combat utility of the palamute, but unfortunately the only one I can think of lol
Hi, does 2 power drum buff from 2 palico stack?
2 palicos can be annoying sometimes when the monster runs away far where great wirebugs are not connecting the areas. Like going to the north west of the sandy plains. On in the Shrine ruins, from area 9/10 to area 6
I agree I little but i started keeping a mental list of the locations of the extra wirebugs in each locale are and then I find that even in multiplayer, if a monster is running away, I can sometimes get there before the rest of the party if I have three.
fast travel using the extra bases?
i feel so slow and vulnerable without the palamute honestly
Wirebug up baby!!
@@KiwiOnTheTube still a lot slower than using a palamute lol. But I do love flying through the air.
Wirebug up a nearby ledge, sharpen/heal/eat, jump back in to the action with a leaping attack.
I went with my starting palico which was a healer, with healing horn/healing bubbles and the mini healing tree, works great all the time
I’ve been trying to find a good Gathering palico for days now but I never get the skills and passives I want 😭
I really want one with Go, Fight, Win, Summeown Endemic Life, and Shock Purrison with Status Atk Up and Knockout King for when I swap over to bow so I can spam dash dances and the aerial silkbind move
Fighter’s Rousing Roar provides Earplugs in addition to the 30% affinity! Very nice
Ive been running 2 bombardier palicoes using a pierce lbg build and its so much fun
I believe that 2 Palicos are objectively better, but can you drift on them? No. Checkmate lmao
Exactly!
This is the truth LOL - Paradise
1:37 I think you mean shock trap instead of poison
There is a poison trap too.
Tl;dr: Utility and efficiency - Neko-chan
Damage and speed - Doggo-kun
team palico all the way. i have one that can put down a poison and shock trap its great
I leave the Palimute behind to reduce the amount of nonsense on the screen. They really need to tune down the effects of the Palimute attacks.
I have 2 palicoes both with the skill that gives a wirebug and its so nice. In a fight they put them down and when the monster leaves the area I pick up the second one
i dont know if they might require some balancing
i have tried to use palicos with status up and knock out king with blunt poison or para weapons but nothing actually happens most of the time :/
while the endemic like barrage...well we all know xD
does the palico has status atk up? think it needs that. my run usually get one or two para, also I eat felyne specialist
I use three hunting set ups:
Pure Hunt= Palamute+Healing Palico
Pure Gather= Gathering Palico + Healing Palico
Hunt and Gather= Palamute + Gathering Palico
Healing Tree, Vase of Viality, and Health Horn are great... also my Gathering Palico came with Endemic Barrage, Power Drum, Healing Bubbles AND Shock traps. Clearly someone is overachieving.
I Always played with my palico in mp so i got used to the wirebugs and i find its more fun to yeet around the map haha
Bro I can never swap out the palamute, it's peak.
It just changes the flow of the battle for people that want it
I'm aware, I just can't rely on how unresponsive they can be, so I'll never use them.
@@DigitalinDaniel there’s a button on your action bar that instantly calls your Palamute back to you and instantly mounts it if that helps.
Felvine, great tip!
Do I need to farm the stuff and bring it with me or is an "ability" with a cooldown?
It's an ability with a cooldown. I run assist palico when I play multiplayer but I always forget about felvine haha.
I just wish there was a way to powerlevel my palicos more quickly. Years of Runescape taught me that there has to be a way..
Interesting idea! Any thoughts on what combat setting (Pincer, Close, Etc.) is best for proccing Pilfer?
arent those only palamute styles?
@@Mikau. you might be right. I haven't looked at cats too closely yet.
@@davesscrims5079 for palicos it is targeting by monster size, you can have Only Large, Mostly Large, Balanced, Mostly Small, Only Small
I've been farming Magnamalo for 4 days now
Is there a faster way to level palicos other than the dojo? I’m a super casual and haven’t made it to rank 3 yet
use the dojo, and an apple.
My dog is the best and has saved my life with the scrolls
I wish we could choose the skills of our primary palico we started with. I chose healing but the rest is randomized.
For me the combination of 1 cute animal, with one adorable one - I find works best - it's a little overpowered - but I think the enjoyment makes up for it.
Nice tips. What is felvine and how to get it??
It’s just an ability connected to Palicoes that you’ve always had on your action bar.
Excuse me, I am new on this game. How drop the dog and take the second palico with me?
But doggy though.
Why do both my palicos not appear when in out in the world?
Ive even gotten Orbs and Rubys from one of my gathering Palicos while playing online.
And having two of them? Pffft. Materials can suck it.
Can someone please tell me how he got that furry palico? Did I miss something in the creation?
yeah I always run with two palicos since the start, I can get to monsters faster on foot anyways
I'm about to build some op palicoes. I use a palamute and a palico, but palicoes have more utility and versatility than a palamute
I feel like a few screenshots of all the fat loot you get from 2 gathering videos would've been nice in the B-roll footage lol
I’m using both for the story then I’ll switch when I start farming.
Propably will use two palicos all the time.
Where my double-palamute bros at?! I obviously need more traversal with my traversal, so I can traverse while I traverse.
I mostly play solo
My ave hunt is around 6-8mins only
It only add 1 or 2 materials for me when i tried the double palicos
Unless im doing narwa or rampage
So i go back from 1 palico and 1 dog
@@LimitedEye i do sometimes when I'm bored soloing monsters
I also do rampage if i only need to and multi reduce that tedious nature a bit
But solo is great specially if you wants to learn the monster move and other benefits like money reward teamates carting...
Can you have 2 healer palicos??
What build did you have here?
Does the Felvine buff work on Palamutes or only Palicos?
only Palicos
man i really like the palmutes
Can anyone tell me how to hire higher level buddies? My only available options are levels 1-5 and the ones I've been taking out on hunts are level 15+.
how did you get that palico skin? is that a layered armor?
It’s the preorder bonus but it will likely be made purchasable later on.
Still waiting for that Charge Blade tutorial video
I use 2 assist palico already 200 hours. Palamute is still level 6 and I haven't used him since 1 hour of game because fuck them, I love only felynes.
What's the quickest way to level an alt cat/dog?
Put them in the dojo with a Lagianiaapple and spam the village 1 Star Lantern with the GEOLOGIST skill at level 3. Should take you 30 secs to complete each run
Don't forget to collect more Lagniapples from the tree at the buddy dojo
Um...
Kill the final boss or atleast get to HR7
@@xakuray5522 the slots say otherwise.
And i checked on Kiranico before and understood nothing.
After watching video: "What is Palamute?"
2 palicoes is the way to go. im seeing more and more people running cats
