Josh made one for Base Rise I feel like there isn't much of a change for the build for Sunbreak. I think you use either 2 Attack or 1 Attack and 1 Bomber palico hit Use The Felvine every time its available then sit back and enjoy the carnage
@@CalebCross253 It's changed significantly, if you want best DPS You want to Two of the same type now, because cats are now affected by dango buffs, for example you want Weakner Obviously, but you'll also want Dango Booster, which buffs attack and defense alot at rank 4, but for Bombardier cats, their main source of dps is not physical or ranged attacks but tbe spamming of Mega Barel Bombs, Wyrmstake, Beyblades, and Fireworks.
I very strongly recommend creating 5 palamutes who together will have all the 35 skills, and then just send them on buddy recon and never touch them again. You then never have to care about not losing access to a skill if you overwrite/dismiss buddies. Palamutes are preferable as you get 35 of each type of buddy, and you realistically need a minimum of 10 different palicos, but only 2 palamutes.
I enjoy running a fully healing based palico for my team I regularly play with. He does have shock trap, but otherwise it's all heals to help us stay in top shape
For real, my palico I chose at the beginning is a healing one so I could just murder the monster (I have PTSD from running out of healing items in 3U and having to run around and gather herbs blue mushrooms and honey lol) and not have to worry about running out of healing items
I find that Guarding Parasol and Blitz Scroll works best for applying statuses fast for the dogs, the Guarding Parasol has the spinning multi hit attack and the Palamutes are pretty good at blocking with it, meaning they survive longer and don't have to take time off to heal as often.
Parasol for applying status is great. Blitz doesn't synergies that well with the parasol, imo. When you use silkbind attacks or when it procs on its own, the attack speed of your paramute is fixed.
If you run something like mushroommamcer and don't have free meal yet, taking a palamute is brilliant as the extra pouch space lets you carry & use extra mushrooms that you find around the map. It's super useful! Also, guarding parasol on palamutes is better than the chain. If your buddy has the counter ability using the parasol to block will counter the monster with some extra damage.
I went with Artful Dodger, Support Centric, Knockout King, and Status Attack Up on my Gathering & Bombing palicos. Does pretty well with slapping status effects & KO's often but probably could be tweaked a bit more.
Note that there are 35 total Buddy Skills, and each buddy can store 8 Buddy Skills. When learning a skill, it's copied from the teacher onto the learner, but the skills of the teacher remain intact. Which means in order to always have access to all of them without worry you can store every skill on as few as 5 "mules".
I looked at this again it it turns out that the 6 Special Buddies can't have their skills changed, and between the 6 of them they have every original Buddy Skill other than Critical Up (S) and Deflagration Relief. Since there are 12 new skills, you only have to store 14 skills on mules, meaning two mules with all 12 of the new unlock skills and those two original ones between the two. Since the Special Buddies are tailor-made for locking into Argosy and Meowcenaries (since you can't edit their skills), this works out nicely.
Pretty sure the default 'best' buddy skills are Status Atk Up (obv), Support-centric (faster/more use of support skills), Melee-centric (melee attacks do more status), and Buddy Partbreaker (especially if you're running Blood Rite).
Tbh, buddies sent to Argosy with backroom negotiation letters just bring those corns in heaps - literally, I have over 70 of them. Same goes for lagianaples, and trap tools....lol, and bhermastones and whatnot. I have to clear Argosy box after each 3 quests now.
You also get them from the palico amiibos. I don't see enough people talk about the amiibos in Sunbreak but they're pretty good. I don't have the Sunbreak ones but the base rise ones are really good.
@@DarkSilver7756 The reason why people are not talking about them might be because they were released in limited amounts and the prices on ebay have now skyrocketed :D Unless You buy those "piracy" amiibo cards as a cheaper alternative. Personally, I would love to have some nice figures either from base Rise or Sunbreak, but those that I am seeing now are way too overpriced.
Not sure if anyone mentioned this but one of my favorite reasons to have a palamute around is so I can mount up and sharpen my weapons or possibly use other consumables while on the move.... whether it's while chasing down the monster or even in the middle of the fight.
You recommend status buddies but fail to mention that guarding parasol plus blitz scroll for the palamute will make it easier to proc status effects. Parasol does multiple hits while blitz scroll raises attack speed.
Buddy friendship looks like a fun skill to slap on a dog. it wide ranges any healing to itself, coupled with the right null-status and aliment artistry, it may just make them healing machines
the palamute silkbinder has a rappid fire that fires 4 shots that does piecing damage I try to build around it and the palamute in general to get the most of the gear when it's active
Isn't Whirlwind Assault much better than Mega Boomerang for status though? It applies _many_ more hits and isn't as prone to missing the monster entirely.

I've got a bit of a weird build with my fight cat, with Knockout King and Lottery Box (trying to get Kittenator) with the idea being that they get a hilariously easy KO by stabbing them in wherever the hell he so pleases. Plus it's a free 300 damage!
I was wondering what Master Rank I have to be to unlock the Buddy Commitment request so I can use the Buddy Skill Lesson because I have a Plaico that has every Buddy Skill and Support Move that I like except for the Status Attack Up Buddy Skill?
I usually play with people so I am usually with just my palico who I have fully kitted as a healer type to help both the team and myself because as a lance player you can take quite a lot of block damage in master rank and I'm running sinister magnamalo armour so my defense is lower but with the damage I output and the dps uptime I can achieve with lance it more than makes up for not having as much damage on my palico
And then a rare bug accures and your equiped buddy skills get rerolled EVERY single loading sequence (including talking to someone and therefor even leaving the buddy board to edit)
I'm still using my Attacker + Bomber combo from base Rise but it's so much stronger with these changes. I have my Attacker set up as a mix of damage and support, while my bomber is set up for pure damage. Did the MR30 Urgent Quest the other day, and my Bomber threw a boomerang that hit for a total of about 700 damage just by itself. Buddies are good!
How do you get the Master Rank Jelly weapon for Paralysis and the other one that has sleep? They both have the largest amount of that status but I remember them being hidden in High Rank, still cant unlock them for MR now
And the sleep one is given an upgrade after a side quest. I think it’s the one where sully is trying to make cursed weapons or something given to you by the Palico on top of the boxes in the command hall.
The sleep status is kind of useless nowadays... no one, neither on PC nor on switch is actually sleep bombing any more :X even GS dont do wakeup attacks thou bringing a poison or a blast weapon arent that bad of an option either the poison will do a lot of free dmg as the first 2 triggers are easily achievable and blast can synergies a lot with buddy part breaker so you get an easier flinch or 2 and more importantly if you are running malzeno gear you get vampiric easier
Can confirm with the lack of sleep bombing. I joined a Gore hunt not too long ago, and put it to sleep with a sleep toad once the feelers came out, only for my teammates to continuously hit it while I'm putting bombs down... I guess they didn't want any sensors.
Am I the only one who thinks the dog should get more love maybe they should buff the damage or something because the cats are far stronger kind of a shame when they’re trying to make the dog one of the more defining features of this game
Yeah . Give palamutes bomb moves . Bomber cat is so op I get 200 damage every other and it has status up so I gave it bagel weapon . Now more damage . They need the buffs

Capcom is aware of this bug, but I want to point out that currently the lottery box does not cause the palico to simply use a random ability, it actually physically randomizes your palicos middle three moves and then uses one of them, thus causing your palico to suddenly have all the moves you gave them be swapped out at random permanently (Or until you go and physically swap them back put at the buddy dojo)
It actually stopped occuring for me once I unlocked the ability to change the moves, which, ironically, is the point where the bug would no longer be an issue anyway.
Can a Gathering Palico steal high rarity items like Mantles/Plates/Gems etc? I've played MH since FU and I can't remember a Cat ever stealing something amazing. I think pilfering is kind of overrated since its usually junk like Scales they nab.
Two week old comment but I'd like to answer you; Yes, they can steal rare materials like Orbs/Mantles and any Palico can technically Pilfer items, however Gathering Palico do this much more frequently with the combat skill they have.
Omg I just finished the game. Had proof of hero, final cart and final phase and just, God this game was amazing. I hope Josh and cotton have the same reaction when the defeat the final boss.
wish dual blades had new combos or additions like true charge slash for example instead it would be a frenzy fing flurry of mayhem for dualblades at the cost of more animation lock and sharpness loss unless you got the mastery skill :u but it feels pretty dull as is right now it has better potential is all im saying :I
Is it a bug where I try to scout Palicos and none of them have the new skills? I had to get a bunch of Palamutes and put them in the dojo to get some of the new skills unlocked.
For the palamute, K.O. scroll + K.O. champion(skill), and the silk-bind ballista are my preferred gear options. The heal doesn't heal much and I'd need to be close, so it's something i'll not make consistent use of--also, it's less useful as I get better at the hunts since I'd be getting hit less. The palamute damage itself isn't amazing, so I get more overall dps by holding down the monsters.
It should cost afflicted parts to do something like that. I'd say take the tier 4 afflicted parts and use 3-5 of each to change a skill on it or add a point.
@@LloydTheZephyrian that would be fine. It doesn't have ot be easy. Anything will do as long as i know ill eventually get what i want in a charm. As it is now it oculd take me 4k hours to get a god charm or it could take 10 hours, no idea.
Palamutes can do many things that can benefit the hunter that even the Palicos can’t do. For starters, Palamute can offer the hunter lots of mobility since you ride them so you won’t waste stamina and wire bugs, being able to sharpen your weapon without being a sitting duck, and Palamute can combo alongside you when fighting monsters on top of the silkbinder holding monsters in place. Overall Palicos are great at being supportive teammates while Palamute are awesome at being rideable teammates that can fight alongside you.
palamute right now are definitely better if you want a healer. by giving them the healing blade scroll and the buddy skill that applies healing to themself to the hunter as well you can basically end up being invincible for as long as the scroll lasts. by far better than the occasional elemental blight or trip the cats apply
There is no way 1 move is better than a healer palico with up to 4 healing moves, especially the clover bat. In a solo hunt with 2 healer palico and theres no way you can die
Nah dude. The clover bats give you crazy regen for a solid 60 seconds or something. It’s nuts. I only have one and I get it like once ever five mins. Plus the other healing skills it has. Not to mention with my gathering Palicos are really good at getting my mantles and gems for me.
@@yes78 palico moves have short lifespans and of you were to use a healer palico you'd be putting yourself at a disadvantages in the first place. healing blade scroll lasts for really long time and you don't need to do anything to benefit from it like you need to do with all palico skills except the lv 20 healing one. also it goes without saying that you will also get the other benefits a palamute beings, sharpening, riding, sniffing out specific things, the umbrella to block attacks and the like. i think if you sum them all up it easily outperforms a healer. you can even reduce gear cooldown to have a really high uptime of the scroll
@@horneytoaster4773 that's true that the bats have really good power and after testing some more i will say that palamute heal is not as strong as i initially thought. mainly because palamute attacks not as aggressively as i wish they did. i still stand by my believe that they can rival palicos. i always preferred the palamute way of healing over palico, but that might he bias
the urge to do a build where buddies do hunts for you
Theirs literally a rampup decoration that increases the and atk and def of your buddies, so a buddie centric build is quite possible.

Used to use Go Fight Win until I found Dango Glutton lv4 stopped your stamina from falling. Just use healing bubbles now.
Palamute for me is for mobility, also with the sniff ability i can always gather hunting helper to throw at the monsters

Check your optional subquests. Some of them will give eurekacorns. There’s never been an instance where I’ve been below 20 of them in my inv

All palicos gather loot, pilfer just causes gathering type palicos to do it significantly more

Can a Gathering Palico steal high rarity items like Mantles/Plates/Gems etc?
I've played MH since FU and I can't remember a Cat ever stealing something amazing.
I think pilfering is kind of overrated since its usually junk like Scales they nab.
Two week old comment but I'd like to answer you; Yes, they can steal rare materials like Orbs/Mantles and any Palico can technically Pilfer items, however Gathering Palico do this much more frequently with the combat skill they have.

Omg I just finished the game. Had proof of hero, final cart and final phase and just, God this game was amazing. I hope Josh and cotton have the same reaction when the defeat the final boss.

wish dual blades had new combos or additions like true charge slash for example instead it would be a frenzy fing flurry of mayhem for dualblades at the cost of more animation lock and sharpness loss unless you got the mastery skill :u but it feels pretty dull as is right now it has better potential is all im saying :I
And how exactly do you unlock Buddy lesson?

Is it a bug where I try to scout Palicos and none of them have the new skills? I had to get a bunch of Palamutes and put them in the dojo to get some of the new skills unlocked.
There is still a bit of RNG involved.

Why dont i have these option
For the palamute, K.O. scroll + K.O. champion(skill), and the silk-bind ballista are my preferred gear options.
The heal doesn't heal much and I'd need to be close, so it's something i'll not make consistent use of--also, it's less useful as I get better at the hunts since I'd be getting hit less. The palamute damage itself isn't amazing, so I get more overall dps by holding down the monsters.

Now they need to let us customize charms so it's not an RNG fest.
It should cost afflicted parts to do something like that. I'd say take the tier 4 afflicted parts and use 3-5 of each to change a skill on it or add a point.
@@LloydTheZephyrian that would be fine. It doesn't have ot be easy. Anything will do as long as i know ill eventually get what i want in a charm. As it is now it oculd take me 4k hours to get a god charm or it could take 10 hours, no idea.
Can palamutes even compete with palicoes with the new abilities that came out?
Palmutes got a new thing too that binds the monster in place and the umbrellas are still op for applying status quickly
They're still good for status effects. Also they can be pretty handy if they can heal well and have the healing scroll
Palamutes can do many things that can benefit the hunter that even the Palicos can’t do. For starters, Palamute can offer the hunter lots of mobility since you ride them so you won’t waste stamina and wire bugs, being able to sharpen your weapon without being a sitting duck, and Palamute can combo alongside you when fighting monsters on top of the silkbinder holding monsters in place. Overall Palicos are great at being supportive teammates while Palamute are awesome at being rideable teammates that can fight alongside you.
Palicos should be better in combat since palamutes offer mobility imo
But yea, Palicos are super good in Sunbreak

palamute right now are definitely better if you want a healer. by giving them the healing blade scroll and the buddy skill that applies healing to themself to the hunter as well you can basically end up being invincible for as long as the scroll lasts. by far better than the occasional elemental blight or trip the cats apply
There is no way 1 move is better than a healer palico with up to 4 healing moves, especially the clover bat. In a solo hunt with 2 healer palico and theres no way you can die
Nah dude. The clover bats give you crazy regen for a solid 60 seconds or something. It’s nuts. I only have one and I get it like once ever five mins. Plus the other healing skills it has. Not to mention with my gathering Palicos are really good at getting my mantles and gems for me.
@@yes78 palico moves have short lifespans and of you were to use a healer palico you'd be putting yourself at a disadvantages in the first place. healing blade scroll lasts for really long time and you don't need to do anything to benefit from it like you need to do with all palico skills except the lv 20 healing one.
also it goes without saying that you will also get the other benefits a palamute beings, sharpening, riding, sniffing out specific things, the umbrella to block attacks and the like.
i think if you sum them all up it easily outperforms a healer. you can even reduce gear cooldown to have a really high uptime of the scroll
@@horneytoaster4773 that's true that the bats have really good power and after testing some more i will say that palamute heal is not as strong as i initially thought. mainly because palamute attacks not as aggressively as i wish they did. i still stand by my believe that they can rival palicos. i always preferred the palamute way of healing over palico, but that might he bias
best DPS option is a blitz scroll.... palamute become energic and attack all time...(more attack+ = more status build up)
Poor palamutes, they're new and capcom did not do much good to give them good impressions. Out shined by cats just like on the internet.
