    Harbor freight has a 15% off from 6/14-6/15 for a single item under $50.00 regular price online or in store. Order on line someone said is life time guarantee. I will order one and pick it up in store on Friday. Leatherman is like a snap on. Harbor Freightline is affordable and save u money on startup. 👍👍👍👍👍 Thank you for sharing.

    Was in the exact same boat as you. I hated multi tools every one I used in the past felt more like a gimmick than a tool. But I was wanting to give it another shot. This just came out last week at haarbor freight and I picked one up. It's s stayed by my side since. Super solid build and all the blades have done exactly what I needed them to. The screwdriver bit I've used way more than I would've thought as well. I'm extremely pleased with it and more than likely will be picking up the leatherman bit sit to go along with it

      Yeah we will see. During my work day I always have every tool imaginable at my disposal, but there have been plenty of times outside of work where my fastback just won’t do it. I’m going to give it a go 👍

    For $40 it would be a reasonable cost to buy and keep in your car. I’ve got a Schrade in one car and a Wave I bought 10 years ago for work originally in another car. I’ve never just carried one around every day. However, for the summer I do edc my Wave since I’m helping out with maintenance at one of the schools. I don’t always drag around my tote, so the Wave is useful for minor stuff. After the summer, it’ll live in my car again.

      Yeah my truck is basically Home Depot.. so I’m always covered, but it would be an option for my wife’s car since we normally go everywhere in it 👍

    MaxLvlEDC is a good channel.
    I keep a few multitools around, such as in my desk at work; I've grabbed it to tighten someone's chair on occasion, or a keyboard drawer, or other furniture bolt. I'm not thrilled that multitools are generally not insulated, so they aren't for anything electrical that might be live. They're stand-ins for when you can't or don't have your usual tool choices at hand, or possibly for when you've run out of pouch slots because your Pica pencil isn't clipped to the outside.

    I use to work for Leatherman so that supertool 200 puts it in the late 90s through 2010 range they did make sell backstock for years after so no guarantee. Yea now that Leathermans patients have expired its open season! I worked for short time making saw blades and then maintenance (industrial 480v). I can see thr appeal of a cheaper direct copy for thoes who don't care about giving someone a job in Portland 😆. The quality when I was there and since isn't as good as it use to be for sure. I use to be a multitool guy and I own 20plus Leathermans hand many hand dremmeled by Tim Leatherman himself. I had my hands on one of these recently and it's what I call decent rhe opening isn't nearly as smooth and my old waves and charge ttis. I say for a casual sure have fun loose it and not cry so hard 😭 . I don't carry multitools on the past few years daily got enough in my pocket and I like real tools (pb swiss insider flashlight utility knife pen). I did recently try a few suggestions from people like maxedc a brand called nextool. 2 or 3 things I've gotten are fantastic quality cheap too 20 to 40 dollars and I feel thoes are kinda better in my opinion. I'd rather have less tools on one of thoes but they we far more functional quality over quality. Kinda reminds me of the premise of the fathers day multi hammers 30 tools in one that's destined for the scrap heap before someone actually uses them. Defently check out nextool.

    I like the fact the teeth on the pliers interlock. They don't on my Victorinox. That's apparently by design. Mine is almost 10 years old and the newer ones are the same.

    I own a wave. It’s almost identical with some added feature. Bits don’t fit as well but no one is using the multitool as their main screwdriver. Pretty worth it. The only thing I prefer in multi tools is the spring for the plier function. I like the Gerber Truss for that. Less features, but has all the essentials.

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  3 місяці тому +1

      Yeah I don’t see myself using the screwdriver that often. It’s a in a pinch situation,especially with it being offset.
      I don’t have the wave, but if enough people like it for $120, I’d say this is worth $40 for sure.
      Thanks for the info 👍

    I always find multitools quite cumbersome to use. They will get the job done if you are in a fix and you are in a need for travelling really light. Not something that I would personally use in my day job though.

      The tti and the p4 were the last ones I truly carried around. If someone gave me a arc for free I would give it a shot agian but back then I paid 50 to 75% off and every new product the entire factory got a free one. 200 range for the arc takes the cake for silly expensive

    Unfortunately, the Gordon has major qc issues- the pliers snapped on mine -not abused- and the metal beneath is just powdered brass. The rest of the tool is a winner, the knife holds an edge well…but faulty pliers make it a 0/10. I went from being not a fan of multitools to really linking the Gordon to hating knockoffs all in a week. Buying a Surge or Wave+, buy once cry once.

    I have the original Leatherman which I never used. I heard it's a collectable. I have a Leatherman Ti Charge. The only time I ever use it is when I go on vacation. I toss it in my checked luggage. I also have a SOG. Not sure I ever used it. I'm like you in that I like dedicated tools. I actually really have a strong dislike for mulitools as I don't think they do anything well. Needless to say if I were in HF and they gave this away for free I probably wouldn't take it.
    I do have one that is more useful. It has a removable adjustable wrench. Never saw one like that before. Someone reading this probably knows the story. The guy made it for I think Spyderco and they stopped selling it. He still continued to make them. I somehow got his contact info and bought one. The whole thing comes apart into separate pieces. I have actually used that one.

      Yeah I wouldn’t be willing to give another one a shot for $120… $40 is a little more doable. Had I found the other Leatherman before I ordered I would have tried it for a little while, but now I got a gift to give away 😂

    I carry a leatherman Curl or now usually a free P2 in my pocket every day. I use it for small jobs around the house and as my pocket knife. They are slimmer and lighter than the wave or Gordon, but you lose the saw and second knife blade. The super tool you have is probably the most useful multitool per weight, but no pocket clip and no one handed opening on the knife. I particularly like the 3D Philips on the supertool. If you want the knipex of multitools, get the victorinox, both models they sell have Swiss level precision and built quality. The spirit X now has a one hand open knife blade, but it’s a pretty small blade and I find I like carrying the P2 better. In typical fashion I went out and bought every model of leatherman and both victorinox and a bunch of others to see what I liked best. Curl or P2 is where I landed. Funny enough, the P2 was the first one I bought on the binge of multitools. Oh, and the Arc which is leatherman’s newest is pretty nice, but it’s $230. It’s just a little more bulky than I want to carry.

      @MORGANSMaintenance  4 місяці тому +1

      Appreciate all the info, very helpful. I have never carried one in my vehicle or anything because my truck is always full of most tools you can imagine… but there have been times where I have been out places and wished I had some tools for something that comes up. So I’m going to carry this one for a while and see if I find myself using one more often.

      @@MORGANSMaintenance Most, but not all, Leatherman models have a manufacturing date stamped inside the handles. The SuperTool 200 is one of the models that has the dates stamped. The dates are used by Leatherman to validate their 25-year warranty. If you want to know the date your SuperTool 200 was manufactured, open the tool up, extend the tools, and look inside the handles. I have a SuperTool 200 with 0204 stamped on one handle and 0304 stamped on the other to indicate manufacture in February and March of 2004.

    Fifteen or so years ago I was given some crappy merch multi-tool. I used it 2 or 3 times since then. I was never a fan ot those, no matter the quality. If you use specialised tools, you just know that multi-tool is a bit of a gimmick.
    That Gordon looks decent and its price is acceptable for anyone using those kind of tools. Of course, contrary to Leatherman, it comes with zero swag. So it may be the biggest flaw for many potential buyers.

      It, being a new product, has a lifetime warranty according to their customer support team. The normal warranty is 90 days. Not sure when that changeover occurs or how they would tell. Unfortunately, my Gordon broke and I needed to follow up on the warranty, although I may just keep it for parts. I will not be getting another.
