Just a heads up peeps if you order the tool online it says lifetime warranty in your cart. If you buy in store it only comes with a 90 day limited warranty! So buy online if you can! Again the free lifetime warranty pops up only after you have added the item to your cart. I went and returned the one i had bought in store and bought it and had it shipped to my house online so it would have the lifetime warranty attached!
I’m a field service mechanic and there’s a ton of Harbor Freight stuff on my truck. From flashlights to sockets to specialty diagnostic equipment, they really have come up in the world.
If you are an inside track member, Harbor freight has a 20% off any item no exclusions in store coupon going on for memorial day weekend. It makes this $32 - same price as the LM bit kit, lol!
I agree with @Exane22 and @Jaspel. Leatherman does need a swift kick in the nuts; and I’m always concerned that the innovative may only be on how to access cheep labor around the world. Also I secretly love Harbor Freight. Consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds?
@@BrandonGavin_EDC I want a Squirt PS4 in its exact form (maybe add a tweezers and possibly a screwdriver in lieu of the file) but about 25% larger and more robust.
I've been hesitating on buying a Surge or Wave but really want something bigger than my SOG Powerpint. Got a HF 5 mins down the road so I'll be picking one of these up. Thanks for staying informed on the industry, because it probably would have been months till I even saw this thing otherwise.
Nice video. I bought a leatherman wave with a leather case that came with it back in 1994. It costs me a little over 40 bucks at Wal-Mart. I still have it. I use it just about every day at work. It has not broken or has any pieces missing or chipped. I am proud to have one that lasted me this long. Waves are hard to beat.
Yup, my wife got me one in '97, still mostly works as it did day one. I've had to replace bits, and the wire cutter is a tad chipped up, but it is still a great functional tool that is used near every day.
So I'm 50 yrs old. If I bought a wave now, it would very likely be an heirloom. Wow. I remember my grandpa buying a car. He said he got a nicer one than usual because it was the last one he would buy. He was right.
I just bought one from my local store, wasn't even on the shelf yet. The employee went to the back room, opened the package, and handed me the first one. I opened the package and checked it out as soon as I got in the car and the multi-tool was just as described. This is my new daily carry for sure. Thank you for the content, sir.
Some people have been claiming this has a lifetime warranty due to a typo. It does not. It's 90 days as per the product page and as per all other Gordon products.
Just picked this multi tool up today after watching your video this morning. I’ve had a Leatherman Wingman for years, and always wanted a Wave but not at that price point. I am blown away by how nicely made this Gordon tool is, for $40 it’s an absolute steal!
@@MCmotoUSA I don't even do reviews anymore. Haven't in 2 years and actually deleted all my review videos. I never even got big enough to get sponsors. I just really hate clones, regardless of whose designs they rip off. My primary multitool is also a Victorinox Swiss Tool and I hated the Leatherman Arc so much that I sold it a week after buying it because the cutters cut on even easier wire than a coat hanger, the frame flexed like an Ozark Trail, and the "Magnacut" didn't hold an edge worth a damn. Also, my favorite Leatherman model is actually the Surge, which I pair with a Victorinox Farmer x
If Harbor Freight makes a leatherman style bit kit, I will buy them both. And if their clone bits are sturdier than leatherman's, it will be absolutely hilarious.
@@BeefT-Sq true but machines do the heavy work. Leatherman's profit margin is still HUGE and they refuse to innovate or add what their fans want to their tools. Normally I wouldn't like companies copying others but due to the way Leatherman behaves I really don't care. That said I love the wave
Great Video!!! I was about to go out today and buy the Leatherman Wave- but am now buying this clone- thanks for saving me nearly $100!!! Leatherman better start pricing competitively🤣🤣🤣
It’s crazy how similar these two are. It even has the hidden lanyard under the saw just like the wave! Great video I picked this up right after watching this video! Now I’m looking on how to add a fero rod
I have a lot of Leatherman multi-tools but I have to agree Leatherman needs to wake up....the thing is, people complaining about the prices of the Leatherman tools, keep in mind many of them and the components are made in Oregon in the US...VS other countries that you are buying from on the Clones, so certainly a Cloned version made in China is gonna be a lot cheaper than the same brand name multi-tool made in the US....However, Leatherman has kind of gotten behind in the terms on innovation and new stuff...they keep coming out with new colors of their tools...in reality who gives a damn, how about some new tools to get the interest of potential new customers or repeat customers rather than worrying about how many colors of a multi-tool you can make, that all scrapes off after a few uses anyhow.
After about 6 months of constantly checking various Harbor Freight stores, I finally found one hanging on the hook. And as soon as I bought it I noticed they also have it for sale on the website which wasn't the case for the longest time. So I bought another one on line. That one has a little piece that fell off as I was working it in but it is still usable and I used it on my job today. Worked like a charm. If anyone else has been looking for one of these for a long time, try again.
I’m loving this. I go regularly to HF and always wished they would distribute some of the clones one sees in Amazon or Aliexpress but this went much further. 😊
I just bought a cordless Hercules compact impact wrench that boasts 500 ft lbs of nut loosening ability. I had a blade stuck on my rider deck that I couldn't get off. It had picked up a piece of wire and wrapped around the shaft which wedged against the nut. I had the front of the rider on a jack and only had 10 inches from floor to nut. Anyhow I got the tool for free by buying the charger and 5 a/h battery for $99.98, plus tax. Has better specs than dewalt stubby. Both brands are 6 inches from back to tip of anvil. I got some stubby impact sockets so I can get this thing in more places (they were $39.99 for metric). The tool has 3 speeds and auto and jolted the stuck nut off. The dewalt bare tool was $168 with a 2 day wait from Amazoid. HF is 8 miles from my home and had it all in stock so I could finish the job the same afternoon.
I picked one of these up yesterday thanks to your video and I have to say, not only am I impressed, but the main blade was hair-shaving sharp right out of the box, which is much more than I can say about the leatherman skeletool CX I got for father's day.
I’ll keep doing business with Leathermen. They have done alright by me over the years. Whenever I need my Supertool 300 tuned up, it has always been done for free and promptly shipped back to me.
I gave the ozark one a chance and the plier head snapped the first time I used it 😂. I went and bought a wave. I love hf but I’d be scared of the same thing happening to this one in the video.
As a big leatherman fan I have to say that I am tired of them being stolen on site. An alternative that does what I need and can be abused without you being worried about damaging something expensive, well for me, I’m happy that there are working mens tools coming into the market.
@@lindboknifeandtool Those things are damn expensive too. Price has doubled on them since I bought mine 10 years ago. I have quite a collection of Leatherman Multi-tools and a few of their knives...quite a few of the tools I have though are discontinued models though.
Thanks to your video I took advantage of the 10% off Memorial Day sale at Harbor Freight. Since the Gordon mutitool is a new product the staff didn't know where it was in the store. Lucky I came across who I would call the employee of the month and she found it 🎉. Cheers to you Dominic for being on top of this great find!
Thanks for doing the review. I had my wave since 1998 when my wife gave it to me as a gift. I carried and use it since wearing out four holsters. I know the wave holds up. I have a MUT to that I like as it allows easy replacement of cutter parts but is a lot heavier.
My local Harbor Freight didn't have it. There's another store a little further south that supposedly did. I went down there, but the guy had no idea what I was talking about until I showed him online. Turns out they had some in the back. They hadn't even put them out yet.
The plyers on my multi tool is the Go To 80% of the time, I need to grab or twist things many days and this does it. The next item used is the Phillips head and lock up on this is needed, I have had non lock up collapse, no good. Good review, appreciate it.
Love it. Love that it takes the bits. I love the bit system. Leatherman seems to be closing down their systems and tools so I'll take this any day. Also, you can buy an extended warranty on just about anything at Harbor Freight for $5-10
Definitely picking this up. As far as the warranty issue concerns me is that it’s less than half the price of the wave. I’ll buy three of the Gordon’s before the wave.
I got my first wave in the mid 90's. I carry one nearly every waking hour and not a day goes by I'm not using it for something. In 2005 I used the screwdriver for a pry bar and snapped it. Sent it to Leatherman and even told them what I'd done. They didn't have the exact parts so they had to replace it, no questions asked. Lets see how this $40 wonder does after 20 years. If it's still in use I'll be impressed.
Not thinking that's what they are going for. Power tools I use daily or at least weekly are Makita. My impact wrench is Hercules. I use it for mechanical work here and there when I'm away from my compressor. I'd use a tool like this but not every day... I'd toss one in my glove box at 40 bucks though
just picked one up at my local harbor freight! I think its an awesome multitool! great alternative to a leatherman.. i only wish they would have to done a regular 1/4 bit set with these as well!
As a connoisseur of Leathermans, I’m normally loyal to this particular brand, but this Gordon definitely intrigues me. This is basically the only video that would even cause MacGyver to pleasure himself.
Just picked one up, I'm impressed with the build quality. The knife blades have a good edge for factory edges. The files work well, no peeling on the diamond file yet, don't expect any either, I use that file daily. The scissors work well, no snag, nice smooth cut. The locking mechanism is good and strong, very positive lock, no slipping. For the price I'll be keeping a couple as back ups and in my camping gear. If you need a multitool and you are on a budget definitely get this, for $40 bucks it's worth it.
If they come out with the flat bit kit…. I’ll buy it to use on my Waves. This is a surprisingly good tool. Of course, since it copies what is also a good tool. Which tracks.
Just purchased mine about an hour ago with the 20% coupon. I collect tools for fun and I bought it cuz there are a lot of folks online that are raving about this tool. Figured I will have use for this in the future.
I don’t know where you are getting your Leatherman Wave from but my Wave has zero play on all the outside tools and 50% lock up on all the same tools. I must have a very rare Wave at least according to you. This new clone looks amazing. Best I’ve seen so far.
You could look into a Leatherman style bit extender for 1/4" bits. That way if you already have the bits you just need the extender. It's better anyway.
Ive been wanting a Leatherman for years now but couldn't pull that $100+ price point. I went with Gerber based on the updated options for that price point but now I can't wait to go to Harbor Freight and get my hands on that Gordon multi tool clone! Especially with this weekends 20% coupon
That Bilbury had a very sturdy set of ballextention bits that are magnetic / heavy / sturdy as fuck - buy an Extender that goes over the long screwdriver that ratchets - and you've got yourself a real tool here for about $55 bucks!
Thanks for the video, thanks to you I saw this and tried to buy it at Harbor freight in all the Miami, FL stores, but it sold out and web site says you can ONLY buy it in store only!!! I agree with your comments about the bits, hopefully they will come out with a bit set like Leatherman does for theirs. Harbor Freight should add a feature on their webpage to notify customers by e-mail when a product is back in stock like other online retailers do!!!! Harbor freight web page says back in stock soon, but who knows how long that will take??? Managers should notice popular items like this one and sell the heck out of them man!!!
I really wish it had the regular universal size but driver like the Bibury does! Simply makes a thousand time more sense for easy access and replacement of bits!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Was watching this , called HF they informed me they had 2 left, jumped upput my shoes on and drove 5 minutes. Hahaha i shoukd have ought all they had and sold them to my work buddies!!!
I have carried a wave every day for 16 years and have had to buy many of them. I will be purchasing the gordon multi tool when its back in stock. One downside is can see already is the gordon probably isn’t a lifetime warranty like the leatherman.
Wow! Since my Wave is the original, it looks like I can upgrade to the current version (+ breaker and gut hook) for less than I spent on the original. Wotta bahgain!!
You definitely can. The original "Wave" was discontinued a year or 2 ago...so now all you can get is the Wave Plus, which is a step up as you can replace the cutter blades for the wire cutters. I sent my original Wave in to have the jaws replaced because the cutters got to the point where they no longer worked, so having them replaceable is a nice step up, but the price is a huge eye opener. I have a lot of Leatherman Multi-Tools, many are discontinued/retired though...prices have doubled on them since I started buying Leatherman Tools though.
@@maxlvledc It's patented. So Leatherman has 17 years to make money on it. And you cannot buy it because they refuse to produce enough to keep it in stock. Ludicrous.
Harbor Freight has a "no exclusions" 10% off coupon for this weekend too! I am gonna go grab one. I bought a Bibury Surge clone recently but theres no belt clip and I love the clip on my Surge.
Might have to pick one of these up. I typically lean towards light EDC. Have a Gerber arm bar that I love because of the full hex bit compatibility. I just don't use most of the tools on my full size multis
Saw this video this morning and went straight to HF. I had the same experience as you did when I asked about it. They thought they didn't have it, but they checked. Sure enough, they had five of them in the back and not out on the shelf yet. When the manager came out, he brought out two and told me that he was buying one for himself. The cashier said, "We have milti-tools now???" With the Memorial Day discount and some HF Money I had, I got it for $7! Compared to my Leatherman, I don't know which will be my daily carry. I might go back and get another one tomorrow.
I had a nearly identical experience about 4 hours ago here. Went to HF and looked on the knife/cutting aisle; not there, not even a tag out for it. Went up front and found a checker and the manager talking, so I asked them about the tool. The manager said "Oh yeah, we just got those in yesterday, they are still in the back, I'll go grab one for you." He went back to grab one and I explained about this tool and the patents to the checker. As the manager comes back out the checker asked him "How many we got back there? Can you set one aside for me so I can purchase it when I get off my shift?----You are 100% correct: The tolerance and quality I think exceeds my Leatherman in every category. Gotta keep an eye out for a bit-kit now.
I was always a Leatherman fan. Have had ton's of models from the very first one and have never had to use the warranty once! That being said, the reason I have never had to use the warranty is that my biggest issue with multi-tools is loss or theft (mostly theft!). Therefore, the extended warrantees means didly squat. I buy the knockoffs now. Leatherman has gotten way too expensive even if the quality is a bit better. Heck, I prefer five cheap Chinesium 10mm wrenches in my toolbox, over one missing Snap-on now that respect for other people's property is so low.
I love this I’m gonna pick one up the next time they send out a coupon. I went and got the multi force after your review and absolutely loved it and carried it daily over my wingman until I lost it at work. Love the reviews man keep it up
I love Leatherman, but hell, i will absolutely be snapping up one of these. I do also love Harbor Freight. Even more more. They've been killing it lately. Tangentially related, but at my last job, i had to pretty much buy my own tools, so i naturally went to Harbor Freight after spending a whole hour to finish a job, amusingly enough, with my Leatherman, because i spent so long, tearing the building apart of a damn 8mm socket, and couldn't find a single one in any of the toolboxes. So i got a $20 socket+ratchet set, which was later expanded on. One day, I'm installing a car battery, and needed both hands, so the ratchet gets the old YEET to the curb. All the guts popped out, so straight back to harbor freight i go, and to my surprise, they straight up told me, free and clear, to just go and grab a new wrench. All i ended having to do, was give them my phone number, and walked out with said new wrench. Quick and easy. Kicks the old fabled Craftsman warranty right in the bean bag. It ended up being an even better wrench too! They made me a customer for life. Hell, i trust their floor jack and jack stands with my 16 BMW.
unlikely....since I believe their patents are expired, really nothing they can do except innovate and move forward with new tools. Its great for the consumer because they will get very similar quality without being fleeced by Leatherman.
Wow. I hope Leatherman can keep up with innovating to stay ahead. I like "Made In USA." Hopefully Leatherman wont go the way of the Mag lens flashlight company who got passed up by the competition.
I honestly think Leatherman is headed that way...nothing new out as of late, they just keep coming up with different colors for some of their multi-tools...well who gives a shit that xx Leatherman now comes in 50 different colors, how about making some new tools instead, and keeping the prices reasonable. Made in USA is great, but when the competition is kicking your ass in innovation its time to stop the nonsense coloring book tools and start building something new. Leatherman has relied way too long on their innovation of the multi-tool, and has gotten way too comfortable in the top spot and every other company out there has surpassed them in innovative features, price, and designs. I love my Leatherman tools, but a lot of people on here are the same, $120+ for the Leatherman Wave....buy 2 of the Gordon Multi-Tools and still have money left over.
bought last one at my local HF. VERY IMPRESSED by quality and features. this puts Leatherman pricing insanity in proper context. And i hope HF develops a line of multitools of this quality. i'll buy at least one of each :)
The fact that the pocket clip comes on the tool is a win. The pocket clip for the Wave was like $13 after shipping since you can't get it in any store. A whole clone that looks to be the exact same for 1/3 the price is insane.
I dunno, I think D2 would be a mistake. Not that many people actually daily drive their multi tools. They're usually left in a bag, box or glove compartment until needed. And, if others are like me, I use my multi tool blade for stuff I don't want to use my pocket knife on and it doesn't get the care and attention it should. D2 could easily rust whilst left. I think an 8cr multi tool blade would be great. Stainless, easy to sharpen, and handles neglect well.
@@andrewdarowski1975 I personally do use my G10 Charge+ w/ the S30v blade as my primary blade maybe 30% of the time, although I don't see most people with a multitool in their edc and an 8cr makes so much more sense in a cost to performance ratio for this kind of thing so I mostly agree. I'm planning on picking one up to swap out the suspension nxt in my truck because I hate that piece of crap (tools are loose and trying to tighten pivots didn't help, blade always flops out, very flexy frame leads to poor plier performance).
I've been using and abusing a Wave for over 10 years, no issues, other than the blades are kind of soft and dull quickly. This looks like a good option to throw in the glove compartment in the car, or the toolbox on a boat.
I don't understand the leatherman prices ... I mean the quality is not always good ... The steel sometimes is 440 or 420 ... And they still go tripling or quadrupling prices prices compared to other companies !!!
The warranty is surprisingly expensive. You are paying for those few people that abuse their tools and always send them in for repair, while it would be better for most people that Leathermans were sold without warranty but were user serviceable with a good supply of spare parts available. That way you could also modify it to match your needs which is what many people want.
I had a wave years ago and gave it a way in a weak moment. Regretted it ever since. Didn’t want to spend that much to replace it but you just sold me on this on. Hopefully it’s made of decent steel.
I just read on the Harbor Freight website that these have a lifetime warranty! Never mind, for some strange reason it says it at check out not on the webpage for the tool itself.

Good to see. I broke a needle nose tip on my Wave and havent bothered to replace it cause they are now like a hundred bucks or more and the rest of the tool is basically brand new.. but since I mainly only use the needle nose, scissors and bits, i never carry it anymore.. but for 40$ I'll give this a shot! (a skeletool with scissors, some bits, and maybe a saw blade would be my perfect multitool)..
Kinda glad to see Leatherman getting it handed to them. I’m still pissed about their anniversary rollout. How they handled it. I’m all on the Roxon train right now. Maybe this will get Leatherman’s heads out their collective asses and get back to innovating.
I heard this was coming out so I went to Harbour Freight hoping they had bits, my precision screwdriver broke on my Wave and Leatherman's website was having problems and wouldn't let me make an order for a new one. They didn't (yet hopefully) so I just bought the tool. I carry the Wave daily and have done so for probably more than 10 years, my only gripe with it has been that the blade never felt as sharp as pretty much any other knife I own. The Gordon version feels sharper out of the box than the best sharpening I can do on the Wave. The difference in the steel is the reason and only time will tell if it holds up as good but I'm impressed.
So, personal opinion here: I have an original Leatherman 1984 model that, not surprisingly, I bought in 1984. It is on my hip this very day. Battered and bruised from the decades, but still 100% functional. Still made in Oregon, Leatherman tools are American made! So, why would I consider a cheap, Chinese slave labor produced product?, that may last a few years, because, your video is only introducing the tool, but you have no long term use of the product to prove it has any long lasting value. Leatherman also has a lifetime warranty, but in 40 years, I have never had to have my Leatherman replaced. You be you. I'll be me.
Consider this. The only factory paycheck your Leatherman contributed to, was paid to a factory worker 40 years ago. That IS NOT supporting the US economy today, AT ALL. The clone I bought today at HF, contributed to the paychecks of the 5 or so folks manning the store, plus some US truckers, longshoremen, marketing geniuses, sale-flyer printers, and countless others. I lose my Victorinox Swiss Army Knives, before I can break them, also. So I keep the rich folks in Switzerland employed, no Chinese "slaves" nor US workers involved in that case. But I think if I can catch my favorite SAK on sale for $40 or $50 (from $100+) occasionally, then it would be nice if a Leatherman Wave showed up at Costco or Sam's for $50 once in a while. But they don't, so today I spent $32 on this Chinese gem instead, and contributed to both the US economy and the Chinese economy. Go visit China before assuming all workers there are "slaves". The original growth of the USA and its economy, was largely based on ACTUAL slave labor, widespread child labor, and some really horrible working conditions in mines, factories, construction, sweat shops, etc. Just because we went through that phase long ago, doesn't mean that other countries don't have to go through it on their own way up the economic ladder. Here in the USA, we build nuclear subs and business jets and 18 wheelers. Sometimes we build airliners well, sometimes poorly. But we leave the making of consumer-level tools to other countries now. I'm OK with that.
I respect that. I also buy between 10 and 20 leatherman tools per year (no joke). My issue with them is not their price..but their QC has gotten atrocious over the last 5 years.
I have lived in Oregon not far from the Leatherman factory for as long as Leatherman has existed. Suffice to say, "Made in Oregon" does not hold nearly the same meaning it held 40 years ago. If Leatherman was still putting out OG quality, I would agree with you. But they don't, so I don't.
25 year warranty for LM. I am obsessed with my Wave Plus and NEVER leave the house without it. I use it all the time and I won't give it up! I also think this tool looks cool but would not go buy it since I have the actual Wave Plus. I can see for people who can't afford the Wave Plus BUT for me quality over quantity and I prefer U.S.A. made.
I got a Wave + for my wife a couple years ago. This Gordon and the Wave would be perfect if they added an awl. I have a Surge for my truck, and its got me out of a couple jams, especially with the bit kit, changing out a coil pack on the highway. I carry a Rebar for work. The large flat head broke, so I changed it out for Wave scissors. Almost perfect except for the fit/finish. I have a Victorinox Huntsman for hiking/ EDC.
Just like with Glock, just like with Snap On, this isnt 1980 anymore. Companies that were seen as the tried and true that continue to not innovate & not take customer feedback are getting blown out of the water by those that do, with more features and more value
I agree with the Snap On comparison but Glocks still aren't really that much more expensive than their competitors and have higher QC + reliability. One of the "it just works" options on the market. Yes I know the dagger performs as well 90% of the time, but there's also been plenty of issues with the micro-dagger and sabre dagger. Would rather get a used glock than a new dagger. Shadow Systems is more expensive for not much more performance. P320 is more expensive with a mixed reputation. More niche options like Canik are doing well but hard to find holsters and accessories for. Please don't misconstrue these statements as me being a glock fanboy, I own the other brands like Sig, S&W, Ruger, and etc too.
@@NiSE_RafterLiving in a dream. Gaston got you by the balls. There are PLENTY of pistols that blow Glock out of the water for reliability and "just works" factor. At a much lower price and with real triggers and real (i.e. non-plastic) sights. Gaston got you by the balls and you clearly enjoy it. 😂😂😂😂
@@AutieTortie How so? I only own a single Glock out of my 6 handguns and it's not even my carry gun. If he had me by the balls at least half of them would be Glocks. I'm just being realistic.
Oh, its a bold promise! How does plierhead lock with handles when tool is unfold? Is there any analog of Leatherman system of locking blades in close position when tool is unfold?
Harbor freight doesn’t check any kind of batch numbers. Just buy a new one return the broke one. Worked there for a while… talked people out of the stupid extended warranty all the time.
Your review of the Gordon 20-in-1 multitool was so detailed and thorough, I was totally convinced and went to my local HF and bought one. Thank you. If you start reviewing cars, I am doomed.
Disagree I know too many successful innovators...what we won't have are large American company's trying to justify "good enough " products for high prices.
Actually, I just read the other day that American manufacturing is on the upswing and apparently has been for a while. I think we are slowly catching on that we can't afford to abandon everything we make to overseas.
I picked one up today after seeing your video, I am impressed with it, felt it has better fit and finish than the Wave. But handles has a bit more flex in closed position, I think is caused by the added washers between frame and pliers head. Thanks for sharing.
I've been waiting for a good Leatherman Wave sale to buy one, and then this video popped up on my stream! I love my high-quality HF knock offs :D Just bought it online, said "lifetime warranty" when checking out!

Iv got a brand new wave in package still. It was the hundred plus dollar one from 10 to 15 years ago. I collect knives.
So I'm 50 yrs old. If I bought a wave now, it would very likely be an heirloom. Wow. I remember my grandpa buying a car. He said he got a nicer one than usual because it was the last one he would buy. He was right.
@papageo5
Yes. It's crazy how prices have changed.
Is the harbor freight tool manufactured in Taiwan? Thanks for posting video
Just picked one up and wow you weren’t lying pretty good for 40$!! Pleasantly surprised
Hey it's Red! My kids miss the bear FYI....
Just picked this multi tool up today after watching your video this morning. I’ve had a Leatherman Wingman for years, and always wanted a Wave but not at that price point. I am blown away by how nicely made this Gordon tool is, for $40 it’s an absolute steal!
F the clone. Spend the extra dough and jump past the Wave to a Charge and thank me later for the advice
@@dualsportoutdoors Found the guy who’s paid by Leatherman 🤣
Leatherman’s pricing has been out of control for a while now. Hopefully this brings them back to earth. $32 for that tiny bit kit is ridiculous.
It costs money to make products in America. Part of that is stifling taxes, regulation and lawsuit lotto.
@@BeefT-Sq yep. It's hard to beat China when they decide to actually engage quality control with their slave labor costs.
@@BeefT-Sq true but machines do the heavy work. Leatherman's profit margin is still HUGE and they refuse to innovate or add what their fans want to their tools. Normally I wouldn't like companies copying others but due to the way Leatherman behaves I really don't care. That said I love the wave
@@BeefT-Sq not as much as Leatherman and benchmade are charging. There margins are out of control.
Awesome! I would love to see Harbor Freight come out with a complete set of bits, a ratchet, and a Surge clone! Leatherman needs to wake up!
I have the Rocktol Surge clone and the SQT Charge TTI plus clone and man they are impressive!
Hopefully they will do a surge version!
Leathermans B.S. with the ratchets impossible to get and garage scams have pushed me away from them.
This will be my next multi tool purchase without a doubt. For the price its def a no-brainer.
Harbor freight has stepped up their game on a lot of things lately. For instance, floor jacks and winches compete with the big name brands
Definitely true ever since they got a new CEO. The Gordon survival kit is absolutely phenomenal as it compares to the one sold at Walmart.
It sounds like me with my old Buck knives, lol.
Quality products with top-notch customer service will always win out with me
agreed, I have broken the pliers before, they sent me a brand new tool, I still own a supertoll from the 90's.
Wel I don’t have $300 to spend on a multitool lol
Why spend $200 when you can spend $40? When using the tool, I don't think people can read the name brand...lol🤣🤣🤣
Walmart/Ozark Trail has a $40 one that I used for years before losing it. I was impressed.
I gave the ozark one a chance and the plier head snapped the first time I used it 😂. I went and bought a wave. I love hf but I’d be scared of the same thing happening to this one in the video.
Harbor frights better quality than walmart.
As a big leatherman fan I have to say that I am tired of them being stolen on site. An alternative that does what I need and can be abused without you being worried about damaging something expensive, well for me, I’m happy that there are working mens tools coming into the market.
Yeah my crunch has gotten swiped a ton. I stopped showing it off, it’s a damn cool tool.
@@lindboknifeandtool Those things are damn expensive too. Price has doubled on them since I bought mine 10 years ago. I have quite a collection of Leatherman Multi-tools and a few of their knives...quite a few of the tools I have though are discontinued models though.
Stopped bringing my leathermen to work because people kept coming to use it
Thanks to your video I took advantage of the 10% off Memorial Day sale at Harbor Freight. Since the Gordon mutitool is a new product the staff didn't know where it was in the store. Lucky I came across who I would call the employee of the month and she found it 🎉. Cheers to you Dominic for being on top of this great find!
Always wanted a Leatherman wave. lookin forward to grabbing a Gordon 20 in 1 for $80 less.
And the communist Chinese will thank you.
I just got this I have a handful of Leatherman multi tools. This right up there with them. the good quality is outstanding. I was very surprised.
I've been waiting for something like this. Thanks Dominic.
6 weeks in and I've been very impressed. Even the scissors handle everything I throw at it.
Also, you can buy an extended warranty on just about anything at Harbor Freight for $5-10
Hmm, I need to ask this
@@maxlvledc they usually offer 1-2 year warranties. On some things I think they might be longer.
What do you use the file on?
If they come out with the flat bit kit…. I’ll buy it to use on my Waves. This is a surprisingly good tool. Of course, since it copies what is also a good tool. Which tracks.
Just purchased mine about an hour ago with the 20% coupon. I collect tools for fun and I bought it cuz there are a lot of folks online that are raving about this tool. Figured I will have use for this in the future.
I have a Wave and Surge and love them both, but this new clone from Harbor Freight is priced perfectly for my 13 year old son who is in Scouts.
This...this is what it's about
I don’t know where you are getting your Leatherman Wave from but my Wave has zero play on all the outside tools and 50% lock up on all the same tools. I must have a very rare Wave at least according to you. This new clone looks amazing. Best I’ve seen so far.
It's just a fact of what I have, ALL of them have up and down play
Waiting for the bits from HF.
You could look into a Leatherman style bit extender for 1/4" bits. That way if you already have the bits you just need the extender. It's better anyway.
@@JoshuaHargraveThat's what I was thinking. And the extension bar having a flat end/bottom might be held in better by the magnet than the bits?
@@billybunter3753 Absolutely! The Dreyoo is $12 on Amazon right now. Could be a good fit.
I got a standard, cheap bit extender and filed it to fit the wave.
Ive been wanting a Leatherman for years now but couldn't pull that $100+ price point. I went with Gerber based on the updated options for that price point but now I can't wait to go to Harbor Freight and get my hands on that Gordon multi tool clone! Especially with this weekends 20% coupon
Man. Just bought a Bibury last week. Should've have waited lol, I'm happy with the Bibury but this seems much better
I need to get one of these before the price goes up. Thats a killer deal.

What a impressive Leatherman wave clone wow
I was on the fence about this. But with Roxon actually listening to feed back and the possibilities a Flex seemed like a better option.
A great beater for work. Can't wait for those coupons.
Harbor freight should release a ratchet bit extender version.
It's patented
@@maxlvledc It's patented. So Leatherman has 17 years to make money on it. And you cannot buy it because they refuse to produce enough to keep it in stock. Ludicrous.
I will absolutely have to pick one of these up. And thanks to your other commenters, online rather than in person. Thanks for the tip!
The Gordon, Biburry, SQT, and Workforce clones are probably the best Leatherman clones out there currently; if you were curious.
Harbor Freight has a "no exclusions" 10% off coupon for this weekend too! I am gonna go grab one. I bought a Bibury Surge clone recently but theres no belt clip and I love the clip on my Surge.
Just like Icon and Snapon. I’m buying one.
Might have to pick one of these up. I typically lean towards light EDC. Have a Gerber arm bar that I love because of the full hex bit compatibility. I just don't use most of the tools on my full size multis

Let me know if it happens again
@@maxlvledc As I said, test the strength of that Chinese communist steel before deeming it a "steal".
Saw this video this morning and went straight to HF. I had the same experience as you did when I asked about it. They thought they didn't have it, but they checked. Sure enough, they had five of them in the back and not out on the shelf yet.
When the manager came out, he brought out two and told me that he was buying one for himself. The cashier said, "We have milti-tools now???"
With the Memorial Day discount and some HF Money I had, I got it for $7!
I keep cheap hf tools in my car if it gets stolen I won't really care about the tools
I love this I’m gonna pick one up the next time they send out a coupon. I went and got the multi force after your review and absolutely loved it and carried it daily over my wingman until I lost it at work. Love the reviews man keep it up
Amazon has a ratchet that fits the driver. Its great.
Link?
Leatherman getting their lawyers like snap on did back in the day!
Nope, patents expired in 2018
@@maxlvledc really? Didn’t know that. I’m shocked how well this tool is. Or looks. I’d like to beat the hell out of it
unlikely....since I believe their patents are expired, really nothing they can do except innovate and move forward with new tools. Its great for the consumer because they will get very similar quality without being fleeced by Leatherman.
Expired patents. No need for lawyers.
Expired patent, just like their buck knife knock off
Bought mine today because of this video... love it. It's on my belt.

@@CastleknightJust use a bit extension bar and bingo!
The fact that the pocket clip comes on the tool is a win. The pocket clip for the Wave was like $13 after shipping since you can't get it in any store. A whole clone that looks to be the exact same for 1/3 the price is insane.
The mods are endless might put a real leatherman head on this… they should have done an ICON grade model of this!!! With d2 steel
@@NiSE_Rafter I want a Skeletool Cx for EDC, but, I have a feeling that they'll release magnacut skeletool soon because it seems too logical not to.
@@andrewdarowski1975 that means it won't happen... It makes too much sense
I've been using and abusing a Wave for over 10 years, no issues, other than the blades are kind of soft and dull quickly.
This looks like a good option to throw in the glove compartment in the car, or the toolbox on a boat.
If only they made the bit driver 1/4”! A magnetic 1/4” driver would put this way ahead of the other clones.
YES!
This one reason is why I will stick with Walmart/Ozark Trail version. I use the bits daily.
Came across your video, happen to have my leatherman sidekick on the desk so I get to follow along. Gonna get a Gordon to keep in the truck now
I don't understand the leatherman prices ...
I brought my Harbor Freight Leatherman Gordon multi tool yesterday and I love it 😉👍.
Let's goooooo!!!
I had a wave years ago and gave it a way in a weak moment. Regretted it ever since. Didn’t want to spend that much to replace it but you just sold me on this on. Hopefully it’s made of decent steel.

I’ll pay extra for American made.
Let us know when you do that. Many people say it, but hold onto a worn old one and don't buy either to replace it.
@@EfficientRVer I just recently bought a Gerber 400 series tool on eBay. I think I paid $40 for it made in the USA.
Great review! I’m going to check tomorrow to see if they have in stock
@@EfficientRVer Well you definitely showed me, didn't you?
@@NiSE_Rafter Canik and S&W, Springfield hellcat
@@NiSE_RafterLiving in a dream. Gaston got you by the balls. There are PLENTY of pistols that blow Glock out of the water for reliability and "just works" factor. At a much lower price and with real triggers and real (i.e. non-plastic) sights. Gaston got you by the balls and you clearly enjoy it. 😂😂😂😂
@@AutieTortie How so? I only own a single Glock out of my 6 handguns and it's not even my carry gun. If he had me by the balls at least half of them would be Glocks. I'm just being realistic.
Nice perspective.
Oh, its a bold promise! How does plierhead lock with handles when tool is unfold? Is there any analog of Leatherman system of locking blades in close position when tool is unfold?
Very good lockup
Non standard bits, heck no. Amazon.
You are correct 💯
but will it hold or or will those bolts loosten up and what metarial is the blade made from?
Should hold, the pivots are captured
Harbor freight doesn’t check any kind of batch numbers. Just buy a new one return the broke one. Worked there for a while… talked people out of the stupid extended warranty all the time.
Your review of the Gordon 20-in-1 multitool was so detailed and thorough, I was totally convinced and went to my local HF and bought one. Thank you. If you start reviewing cars, I am doomed.
Hahahaa
We won't have any American companies soon
Disagree I know too many successful innovators...what we won't have are large American company's trying to justify "good enough " products for high prices.
We have better things to make than pliers.
Actually, I just read the other day that American manufacturing is on the upswing and apparently has been for a while. I think we are slowly catching on that we can't afford to abandon everything we make to overseas.
I still have my original Leatherman. Haven't been able to justify the cash for new ones. Going to try this.
That's an ideal survival multi-tool, and the magnet might be useful to magnetize a needle for a makeshift compass. An auger/awl would be great.
I picked one up today after seeing your video, I am impressed with it, felt it has better fit and finish than the Wave. But handles has a bit more flex in closed position, I think is caused by the added washers between frame and pliers head. Thanks for sharing.
Well thanks to this video i picked up 2 this weekend.
Very impressed, excellent product for the price!
Thank you so much for the heads up!
I wasn't quite sure of the quality but this video sealed the deal for me! Going to have to pick one up.
I've been waiting for a good Leatherman Wave sale to buy one, and then this video popped up on my stream! I love my high-quality HF knock offs :D Just bought it online, said "lifetime warranty" when checking out!
