I am not a psychologist, but I have watched true crime for many years. He lowers his voice to a non-intimidating pitch so he appears innocent, but the way he speaks is not genuine. There are no emotions there. It seems as if he has a line for each question. He doesn't even get upset with any of the questions. I think he is really cold, a spychopath most probably.

THIS is the real answer. This really looks like she fought him off. I believe him when he says Jennifer was angry because he didn't take her seriously - yea, man. She said NO when you tried to rape her, and you did not take her seriously. Everyone has the right to say NO. You should have taken that seriously and walked away.

This is probably the most chilling interview i've seen on 48 Hours. I can't count the number of times I rolled my eyes at some dramatic, outlandish statement he said to make himself look pitiful or remorseful. Every word, every movement is so manipulative.

Yes, his poor mom. Only us mothers knows how it feels to see our beloved sons and daughters go down a path of destruction and we are powerless to stop the run away train. We see trouble up ahead and try to warn them, but they refuse to heed our warnings. As a mother my heart bleeds for him and for Jennifer. Thanks for being a kind human being who understands that life is difficult and it can throw us curve balls that we have no idea how to field. I am sure he had no idea that going out that night would change the whole course of his life and Jennifer's.

Just finished i think, the interview 48 did and my god, he acts extremely well. I started to believe him. Thats because the small, but there, little emotions, the eyes and even reddishness increasing round the eyes, look genuine. Its very hard to fake that.
Since his story is completely inconsistent with the physical evidence, it cant be true what he says.
Which then means he rejected reality (which is actually a good sign up to an extent, bc one should never forget facts, yet still want to distance, bc that is what morally good requires) and embraced a better (for him) version of reality. It was an accident, so he wants to believe.
Ive seen it in people that they embrace another truth (which isnt the truth) and make it their own. Im sure he must have done that, otherwise you cant express those emotions that way. He has come to believe that is what happened. And indeed, he had enough time.
The problem with changing reality is that you do not learn from that mistake. And that leaves you wide open to a repeat.
I hope that didnt happen, but ...

I was 26 when this happened and remember it very well. He was so much bigger than her, there is no way any of what he says is true. I can’t believe he’s out.

I DON"T UNDERSTAND WHY THOSE GIRLS WOULD HAVE HIM AT THEIR PARTY, KNOWING HE WAS ON BAIL FOR KILLING SOMEONE.
The interviewer knew... strangling doesn't take an instant. It takes several minutes to strangle someone. So, the forensic evidence and autopsy results show the truth... he strangled her and she scratched him, fighting him to stop the strangulation. There was no 'scared'. He did it because he was angry. Domestic violence to the extreme.

It’s a travesty of justice that he only served 15 years in prison. I feel for Jennifer’s family. Sending love and light to them and her.

He’s still lying about motive and how he killed Jennifer. His story makes no sense and doesn’t explain the amount of injuries to his and her bodies at all. Those injuries are from a physical altercation, not just a grab and punch. He attacked her out of pure rage because she was a representation of everything he never had, has or will ever have. He deserves nothing from anyone.

How could he label it an accident when he had so many scratches on him. Jennifer must have fought for her life but failed. Another two arrests and now he is in prison until 2024 plainly shows that he isn't rehabilitated in any way. I truly hope he remains in prison for life.

I believe that when he came out of prison, he realized how tough life was, so he wanted to get caught and go back inside, where it’s much easier for him. He’s already out for the second time, he’ll make sure to go a third time and hopefully spend the rest of his life in prison.

The problems with sociopaths is that they can say all the right things and convince others to believe it, and if they are good looking, many will. But their actions speaks volumes about what they really think and feel. This is why Robert Chambers cannot stay out of jail.
I didn't believe a word he said, and I'm not surprised that he ended up back in prison. He still sat there and said that he hit Jennifer "in the throat area ." That doesn't make any sense when you hear the details from the autopsy. He's a sociopath, and I'm surprised that he didn't hurt his girlfriend after he was released. I'm glad he's back in prison. I feel sorry for his mother, but I wonder if he was ever held accountable for his actions as a child. He certainly still hasn't learned anything about consequences.
What's interesting is that psychopaths actually don't blink as much and tend to stare into your eyes for long periods of time. I definitely see that here.

Obviously he strangled her while trying to rape her. He was in such a rage that she had struggled with him that he killed her. A big guy who was in control the whole time. He resembles the characters in the movie “Goodfellas”.
He kept using the excuse that he was 'scared', but the fact that he sat so many feet away on a wall and watched everyone arrive until they told him to leave suggests to me that he was not that afraid. He sat and watched like he was at a summerfest. Also, medical examiners know when someone has been strangled to death. They can even tell because of some kind of hemorrages of the blood vessels in the eyes, I think. It's not something that can be mixed up with a punch in the throat or whatever.
Yes...called petechial hemmorages, a characteristic of strangulation. Also, strangulation brings about both external and internal injuries in the eyes, face and neck, which the ME would have determined in the autopsy. The evidence does not lie!👍
@@stephaniek1076 Yes, that's what it's called. I couldn't remember what it was called. If they can tell the difference between strangulation, ligiture strangulation, and chokeholds, then they can tell the difference here.

His mother probably made him get away with a lot, so maybe she's partiallly to blame for his sociopathiic behaviour.

It has EVERYTHING to do with free agency. Grown kids are free to choose their own paths in life, and he chose to do evil!
I get so sick and tired of people who want to place the blame on other people for a person's actions. This piece of crap killer is doing the same thing: victim bashing; not accepting accountability for his own actions; etc. Regardless of how you are raised, when you're an adult, you make your own choices and receive your own consequences. Leave the parents out of it!!
I feel very bad for his mother, too. I also applaud the fact that she, unlike many other family members of killers, knows that her son committed this horrendous crime and doesn't try to excuse his behavior or pretend that someone else was responsible for this crime. Many family members of criminals refuse to admit their kids/brothers/fathers etc. are capable of communicating such atrocities and get angry that their family member is in prison for "something they didn't do" even though ALL the evidence points to that person!

This is how people act when they try to convince others that they are not lying! They try and represent themselves as a meek, calm, and small person! Someone that is slow to anger!
That little satisfaction grin he shows when appearing in public speaks volumes about him being a narcissistic sociopath. He should have been sentenced for life since that first callous crime.
The only times that I have seen him deeply sad or regretful is only about himself. There is no apparent rehabilitation for ppl like him. He’s an awful mess

I'm surprised that the jury didn't find him guilty right off the bat. How could they look at the crime scene photos and the photos of the scratches on his face and chest and not understand what he did?

His mom is more remorseful than him as a mother she tried to give him the very best education but he had other plans.
He claims Jennifer was forcing herself on him but the scratches on his face and body prove otherwise. It was most likely the other way around. His eyes are scary. A clear socipath. There's something very eerie about him.
His interview is all about his suffering and his pain and his mistreatment.......nothing about his victim (who he keeps calling "a person"). And that soft whispery voice (probably meant to make him appear vulnerable) is creepy as hell. I don't believe him.
narcissists never admit fault, it's always someone else's fault. The only reason why he gave that interview is because he's still trying to convince people that yes, he killed her, but it wasnt his fault.
Painting themself as somehow a victim of an accident so feel sorry for them is extremely eerie.
