This! Gives me shivers to think back to some of the incredibly dangerous situations I put my self in. Iv hopped in cars with strangers and gone to parties miles from home, I once left a rave with a couple of drug dealers and went back with them, area I didn't know, didn't tell any one, hostage squad showed up 4 days later after the police tracked us from the club, I was 17. I was very lucky that in all instances I was treated with nothing but respect and kindness but could have been so different. I pray my children have more sense than I did back then. Terrifies me

As someone who partied a lot in my younger years, here is my two cents. Some ppl get very violent and aggressive when intoxicated. After a few drinks, the slightest thing will set them off. Its like Jerkyl and Hyde thing. The victim just ran into one of those guys. And the perps sh itty friends helped him cover it up. I have seen some of those types (men and womem) in my day and it can be a jaring experience. One minute you are having a good time, another minute they are picking a fight with the bartender, the bouncer or anyone. Thats why i dont hang out socially with ppl i dont know. And i avoid anyone who gets aggressive when drinking and try to exclude them from my social circles. Such ppl once drinking are a ticking time bombs. If it wasnt this poor guy, that dude would have eventually killed someone else intoxicated.

I wondered at first if the jeweler wanted someone to take over his business and legacy since he was childless…and tried to redeem a bad boy into a golden child, as it were. Since the jeweler might have been gay I thought that could be a possibility. However as this story wound on I slid more toward the belief that it was a way to cover up a relationship of a very different sort. I’m not sure that had any bearing on what happened to Joey other than the fact that these young men had way too much money and time on their hands and Joey was a little star struck by the invitation. Someone under the influence can definitely turn into a rage monster and instead of taking Joey to the hospital for injuries and going to jail for assault (and drugs) they made a horrible situation even worse. Rest in peace, Joey, you were well loved and justice was served.

My prayers are with you and your family. As the mother of two sons about the same age, many times while watching true crime shows I’ve been grateful that I don’t have a daughter who is more vulnerable to be preyed upon. This is a stark reminder that young men can be just as vulnerable if they meet up with a group of sociopaths like poor Joey did.
