That poor dad😢
😊😊
😢😢😢😢😢 I pray the family find peace xo
I am truly sorry this happened. My heart aches for Joey & his family. Prayers for his family.
His dad's grief is heart wrenching 😢
Unconditional love ❤ for sure
Being a father with a son around Joey"s age its very difficult to watch his father.
I could hardly watch it😢
Indeed. Made me cry. Badly.
Very much so you can see how he loves his son😢
Never separate from friends. So freaking heartbreaking.

"Hundreds of friends" often means "Many acquaintances, but no real friends".
That part. I didn’t want to say it. When ppl say, he/she had hundred of friends.. real friends r rare to come by. Usually jealous, envious ppl that wish u malice or want what u have …
he obviously had a lot of good friends, a couple of best friends who were all pictured here, a great dad, a girl, and hundreds of acquaintances that all liked him probably more than the liked them. it means he was popular and people liked him. not everything is negative.

Or it could mean "no enemies, extremely likeable, well known"
When your parents tell you don't take rides with strangers, they mean for the rest of your life. My heart breaks for his family and friends especially, his parents.❤
Good Point!
omg yes. It's so true that you constantly wonder how your kids will potentially be taken advantage of, or worse... even when they're adults. In their 20's, the fear of that is in full throttle for me, as the mom of a 21 y/o son.
So many murders of adults 40 to 50 years ago because of hitchhiking.
That’s why I don’t Uber or Lyft. Modern day hitchhiking 🤦🤡
They also mean that it doesn't matter if the stranger is rich or poor... I'm thinking Joey thought he was safe because these were upper class individuals
That friend who had the idea of going to instagram is a great detective/thinking outside the box idea. At least he was able to find bread crumbs and help get the authorities on the right track. Feel really bad for Joey and his family. RIP. 👼
Plus his father had the idea of keeping the garbage at the condos. The family/friends really solved this thing. ❤

Totally agree 👍.
What 26 year old that is somewhat sober just says “oh I’ll leave my phone with you and get it tomorrow”? That is so F-ing weird. Makes no sense to me at all.
26 or any age…this is the part I can’t make sense of…
Also…Why not call it a night and Uber home with the girls?
He didn't even tell his friends he was leaving with that group... Almost as if he was under threat and had to leave fast
I said the same thing cause who the hell especially a 20 something year old WILLINGLY leave their phone???
YESSS!!!! The "friend" that had Joey's phone no doubt a part of plan . . . .
Also makes no sense for a heterosexual man to hang out with other men he doesn’t know in a private apartment after the girls have left.
Do not separate from your friends. Do not hang out with people you do not know. Especially young rich ones.

That only works if they come willingly. You cant force them unfortunately.
The Dad had the intuition to tell his friend “something happened find him”. You can tell him and his son had such a bond. I grieve for him 😢
I feel heartbroken for his father. Nothing good comes from doing drugs or being around people doing drugs. I've seen similar stories many times.
@@robbiddlecombe8392 That's absolutely true. I've also seen many fights break out between friends who are under the influence of drugs and someone gets killed. Then they are remorseful once they are sober. All their lives are ruined because of taking drugs.
Kudos to Joey's father telling the cop to not let those garbage bags leave the complex before searching them. Wow.
People may scoff at this, and that's okay. They can believe what they want to, I'll believe what I want to. I think that young man was with his dad that day, and put the idea in his head, so to speak. He wanted his killers to be brought to justice and his family and friends to find some semblance of peace.

I thought about going then got outside and something told me no. So, i told them i was good and she started pulling my arm begging me making a huge scene. Im glad i changed my mind. I always wondered what might of happened. Dont let alcohol and drugs make your decisions.. Good have just been a good time but the whole situation seemed way over the top.
@Paul-fq4mm, Yes, something just didn't set right with you. Who knows how it might have turned out.

His father's grief is so heart wrenching. I can't even imagine the pain he is going through.
Never leave your friends. Never go to unfamiliar homes. In college I got robbed of my purse, keys, everything bc I stupidly went to a party alone at an unfamiliar house. It was my neighbor so I figured I was safe but these two guys conned me. One flirted and distracted me and the other grabbed my bag right off my arm and ran out of the house. It was horrible. I was 2 states away from home. No car/house keys or id or cards or money. Im lucky I wasn't physically harmed.
@katharine2435, Wow, that's quite a story. Years ago I was at a friends house for a party, I didn't know anyone else there. When it was time to leave, a friend of my friend needed a ride home so I offered him a ride. Half way home he attacked me to get money for drugs. I sort of talked my way out of it, but I could just as easily been killed.

As someone who partied a lot in my younger years, here is my two cents. Some ppl get very violent and aggressive when intoxicated. After a few drinks, the slightest thing will set them off. Its like Jerkyl and Hyde thing. The victim just ran into one of those guys. And the perps sh itty friends helped him cover it up. I have seen some of those types (men and womem) in my day and it can be a jaring experience. One minute you are having a good time, another minute they are picking a fight with the bartender, the bouncer or anyone. Thats why i dont hang out socially with ppl i dont know. And i avoid anyone who gets aggressive when drinking and try to exclude them from my social circles. Such ppl once drinking are a ticking time bombs. If it wasnt this poor guy, that dude would have eventually killed someone else intoxicated.
Best comment ever.
That guy was a sociopath regardless of the intoxication.
My brother is like that. He's normally a pretty peaceful guy, but after drinking he starts fights with everyone. I think this victim ran into a guy like that too. Young people should hear this so they know the risks of hanging out with strangers while drinking!

What we call the "high life" in the west is exactly that kind of environment. Lots of alcohol, testosterone, party girls and often cocaine offer a backdrop that easily leads to tempers flaring and bad judgement. All that glitters is not gold folks, stick with your common working class friends who love you for who are not what you "bring" to the table.
This is a quite insightful comment---especially the part about what a person "brings to the table." Those types of relationships are almost exclusively transactional and devoid of real human connection.
What an absolutely ridiculous comment! The person who killed him was more working class than the victim! An ex-felon from a poor background who likely prostituted himself to an older man for money and fake status. The victim on the other hand came from money. His father is worth $400 million!! The pain of the parents is near unbearable. Am so sorry for the Dad, I can't imagine the pain.
If you’ve ever partied with guys that do cocaine you can believe this can happen. I was trying to talk to this girl at a small gathering at at house I had never been in, with people (other than the girl) I didn’t know, when all of a sudden I said something as a joke that this big guy took offense to, and before I knew it he had his hand around my neck.
If the girls hadn’t talked him out of it I’m not sure I would have made it out. He was alllll zooted up. That crazy drug strength/anger/lack of reasoning that comes with coke.
After that night I played it much safer. Getting laid ain’t worth dying for. Don’t go to houses/apartments you’ve never been to with people you don’t know.
The concept can be applied to dating apps. The tragedies stemming from dating apps are hardly shared with the public because these are insanely wealthy companies that lobby accordingly.
My rule is this, I'll go anywhere privately by myself, but I won't accept any drinks made for me and if drugs come out, I leave. I'll only be around coke users if I arrive with friends.
Remember when those guys doing blow made Jimmy’s brother sing against his will?

Hopefully the guy never sees the light of days anymore. .
It is and then bragging about it and acting like they didn’t do anything wrong, it’s just sick, how can one sleep at night after committing such a horrible act against another human being, I couldn’t but I have a conscious, clearly they don’t, just beyond disturbing and psychotic smh
Exactly! He’s an unconscionable and hardened criminal! Luckily Jeffrey cut ties with him after learning about his rap sheet which he likely didn’t share. One shudders to think what he’ll do to Jeffrey in the event they get into an argument and he inherits all of Jeffrey’s wealth since he’s the legal son!
It's clear that they were in a sexual relationship as fake father and son, and it's also clear that he didn't provide much in improving his life as he clearly murdered someone. So it make sense that as an ex con, he would get triggered when asked what he brought to the table because it clearly isn't much except for being a murderer.

@@PaulAllen786definitely, you can't be tracked if you do that. Look what happened to you, Paul Allen. But you had it coming though, we won't miss you.
The deceitfulness of evil and danger is it doesn't LOOK evil or dangerous.
I think they made a pass on him and he turned him down
That was my first thought. Since the guy was already probably having a secret relationship with the Jeweller. I feel like once the girls left and they were all dudes left alone they probably thought Joey would swing that way/ and since they were already probably drugged up maybe his response rubbed them the wrong way and they attacked him.
My heart goes out to Joey's friends and family. ❤
That jeweler essentially nurtured a criminal into a full-fledged monster.
Yeah! He was obviously his highly paid TOY BOY too!
It's so obvious that the jeweler was being blackmailed by the criminal and he was a monster before he ever met the jeweler.
@@margochanning6868or the jeweler kept him around as a boy toy.
@@margochanning6868honey that jeweler is not innocent 😬
That jeweler should be tried & jailed for nurturing a " psychopath " .
How anyone believed that guy was an aspiring model, I don’t know. But money=blinders to some. He was jealous of the man he murdered, no doubt. He was someone he wanted to be and wasn’t even close. It’s disgusting.
this would have never been a story if they werent rich kids.. it would have never been solved
Good point
@@whitefreeman5798What a heartless thing to say. I watch true crime every single day, and most solved cases involve average people. Oftentimes, they involve lower income people. What an insult to say such a thing about a family who is grieving so deeply.
@VioletJoy Actually, you’re incorrect. True crime shows represent a tiny fraction of the crimes committed. Many crimes shows are duplicating the crimes. You’d have to look at national data to find out just how wrong you are.
@@marciethompson3846 What data are you referring to? There are more crimes committed in low income areas. Therefore, there are more solved cases in those same areas.

That dad broke my heart. 💔
My heart breaks for that poor dad, I pray he finds some sort of guidance and peace...
Never ever go and hang out with people you don`t know or you barely know. Especially where there is alchohol consumption or drugs. You can easily become a target if anything happens or goes wrong. My heart goes out to his family and friends. He didn`t deserve to get his life taken away in that manner. You have my deepest condolences. May he rest in eternal peace. 😞😓
I think people give this message to guys much less than they give it to girls.
@@MTSN-hp9th 💯 A show like this could address the dangers to young men in partying with people you don't know in an unfamiliar location. Maybe this whole show does that, but not very overtly.
Why is no one just simply advising against doing drugs and drinking alcohol?
Any place or persons connected to these things can never bring forth any good.
How many more millions of people need to die before this concept gets in people's heads?
This is the best doc i've seen on this. I've never seen those videos and pictures from that horrible night. RIP Joey
His Dad's grief is breaking my heart
Can only admire the determination of Joey's friends and dad, without them tracking down everyone police might have never found out what happened and who was involved.
Police would do the same - but later. The friends bring time advantage. Too many witnesses around.
What an amazingly loving father ❤😢 so many of us don’t get blessed with this level of love and care from a dad
Agree, I sure didn’t. Nor a mother.

True! Meanwhile my father don’t even remember my birthday 🤦🏻♀️
No parents should lose their child. This breaks my heart to see this father cry.
What an awful loss. The emotion was overwhelming from his family. RIP Joey
As everyone has commented, the pain and heartache the father carries is heart wrenching. To know his son died under those circumstances. It’s not like it was from an accident or medical condition. How awful. I pray the family finds comfort in their pain and grief. I’m so sorry for the loss of Joey.
Rich people think of friends like assets, tools and toys, the second there is a liability their true colors come out.
Pat's pain is palpable. My god. If there ever was a person who didn't deserve to lose a child, and what no parent does, but this man certainly did not. He'll never be the same, and I hate that for him.
"When you were with him, you felt like you could fly" Wow, a wonderful tribute to Joey 🙏🙏🙏
Nothing more important than a father and son relationship. I love you Dad
I love my daddy too! 😢
father and son? sir, who do you think you're fooling?
Leaving without a phone is so strange. This is so heart breaking.
The pain of that poor dad. Made me tear up. I just can’t imagine 💔
Beaten ,stabbed, dismemberment attempted , thrown down 4 floors, throat slit, body burned. Beyond heartbreaking
His throat wasn't actually slit, but yeah, still absolutely horrible.
....AND ONLY 23YEARS IN PRISON ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS...!!!!!!!

My heart breaks for the dad, he cries alot over his boy
So sorry for your loss. You can tell how much he is missed and loved.
A father son relationship. Yeah right.
What a heartbreaking story💔
More like husband and wife smh
I wondered at first if the jeweler wanted someone to take over his business and legacy since he was childless…and tried to redeem a bad boy into a golden child, as it were. Since the jeweler might have been gay I thought that could be a possibility. However as this story wound on I slid more toward the belief that it was a way to cover up a relationship of a very different sort. I’m not sure that had any bearing on what happened to Joey other than the fact that these young men had way too much money and time on their hands and Joey was a little star struck by the invitation. Someone under the influence can definitely turn into a rage monster and instead of taking Joey to the hospital for injuries and going to jail for assault (and drugs) they made a horrible situation even worse. Rest in peace, Joey, you were well loved and justice was served.
His poor dad will never get over losing his son, just heartbreaking watching his heart break every time to talks about his son
I'm so glad he has a lot of great friends who love him.
