- I took on a somewhat tricky project recently and swapped the grill and headlights on my 2013 Honda CR-V. I upgraded to the 2015-2016 style touring model projector headlights with LED retrofit bulbs. It was a little more involved than I initially thought it would be due to poor fitment on some of the grill parts. The wiring is somewhat complex but I show step by step how to do it in this video. excellent modification and seeing and researching everything I want to do with my 2012 crv, when you bought the 2016 lamps you should have bought the complete grill kit that includes the 2016 lamp base supports since the 2012 base are not completely the same, believe me I learned everything from your video, the good things and the details of the errors, thank you very much for your video

I have done a projector retrofit on my 2013 CRV it has better light output and it looks a lot better too. This facelift is expensive but is nice to see a video of the process.
I prefer the 2013 grill. Where did you get your projector retrofit from?
Being a former LKQ employee you DO want a CAPA part no matter the part. But, I have found that they can fade in just a few years. And yeah, I found out the hard way that aftermarket parts usually need tweaked

Nice job. I have an actual 2015 and put LED lights from Amazon and they turn night into DAY they are so good. Including the fog lights. Honda CVTs are pretty solid though. A friend has a 2013 with 5 speed and she has the shuddering problem they often have. I thought I would hate CVT, but as I am approaching 100k, It does its job flawlessly.
I now have a 2016. I really like it.
Such an awesome guide. I am not very electrically inclined, I have all the parts except the connections for the new headlights. Any chance you can update the links for those parts, none of those work. (Turn Signal, DRL Harness, H11, 9005 ). I got the regular halogen assemblies and I have a 12 EX model. Thanks!
I don't have new links but here are the part numbers that you can Google and try to source the harness. You will need 2 of each

I have 2015 model but I keep regretting for choosing crv because of just one reason that keep giving me headaches..
Mine is too low to the ground and its keep touching the floor any time I mistakenly climb any little hip

any fogging/moisture on the inside of the headlights? i bought aftermarket cheapo projectors from ebay for my 07'. Haven't installed them yet but I heard they can normally get moisture inside of them (among other things like yellowin/fading of the lens). I might put some silicone sealant in the seams between the plastic housing and the lens.
These were not cheap headlights. They were aftermarket, but are CAPA certified. Cheap ones can leak and have other problems. I always try and buy known good brands like Eagle Eyes.
I'm thinking of using a diode to turn on my fog lights using high beams on 2012 crv. Also turn off my drls so it doesn't interfere, However not sure if its safe because of the power draw on the wiring [high beams], will it be too hot? Or am I safe to pull that much amperage from the high beams? Can you please share your knowledge. Thanks
I wouldnt do that with the stock wiring unless you just use the highbeam wire to trigger a relay that switches on the fog lights.

I’m interested in the tire/rim swap.. Did you go with 18” rims and if so, what size tire did you put on them? Any modifications required?
No. I used stock LX 17" 2017up CRV wheels. I used 225/65R17 tires.
Sorry if I missed this in the video (or if you mentioned elsewhere) but is the grille swap necessary, or would I be able to just swap the headlights? Thanks!
The grill is completely different. You have to do the whole thing to make it work so yes you have to swap the grill. This job is not for the faint of heart.
I have a question. I have a 2013 CRV LX that I am looking to do essentially what you have done (change the grill and headlights to 2015). Is there a difference between the 2015 touring model headlights? Will the 2015 LED DRL headlights fit on a 2013 LX model?
That's the same thing I did. They are not a direct swap as shown in this video. There is a lot of wiring involved to make it work
Will the grill works with the 2013 headlight assembly. Or you have to change all? I still want to keep my headlight as they are good
Have to do all or nothing. They are very different.
Do you know if the side mirrors from 2016 crv with turn signals will fit and work in 2013 crv?
Wiring harness may be different but they will bolt on

No. Completely different size

Do you know if the regular halogen headlights from a 2015 EX for example would be a direct swap or still would require custom harnesses? I guess to have daytime running lights they would require extra wiring.
Still require same custom harness.
I figured, thanks. Kinda hard to stomach the extra cost of the touring headlight assemblies. The regular halogen headlights to DRLs is quite literally 1/4 the price.
I understand. Quite the price difference but the projectors with LEDs are so much more superior it's worth it

No. Totally different size at the headlights.

Yes. It is.
What type diode did you use or how many ohms did you use
Just a big one I had laying around. It has to support the power draw of headlights so it needs to be a pretty stout diode

No fog lights
i did my on 2012 exl and fix perfect ecept turn signal blinking too fast ¿any idea how to fix it?
That usually means a bulb is out. Does the front and rear turn signal actually flash. I would try a different bulb

Why didn't you replace the bumper too?
Because it was an additional expense that isn't necessary. But it will fit if you want to go that route.
Did you resell your grill and lights to anyone yet?
If you're talking about the old ones they were thrown away a long time ago
