Maher is being pragmatic. Liberals don't watch or listen to political discussion in large enough numbers to keep the lights on. Conservatives have been a mainstay of Bill's audience for years. However, with the boom in podcasting, they have a buffet of options. He needed more voices on the right to bring back those that were deserting him.
@@ohyeaaaa1 On his old show, he certainly did have plenty from the right. Even early on, on Real Time, he served the right, not as much, but still. @robi6317 hundreds of solutions for every issue have been offered. The problem is with the voters. We have known for 248 years a big federal gov was a bad thing. From the founding documents to the late 50s, the population agreed that the Fed Gov should be held to its constitutional limits. Because gov does nothing well and the bigger it gets the more inefficient it becomes. Then, all of a sudden, the people decided the gov was going to take care of them with social security. ( Social security was introduced to only work for the families of the soldiers killed in WW2. It wasn't planned to last more than 20 years. ) Today, 34% of all employees in the US are federal government employees. In 1960 2% of workers were federal employees. In 1960, you could live your life and only come in contact with the federal government on the day you paid your federal taxes. Today, the federal government controls everything. There isn't a product, service, or activities that don't have federal regulations.
Dems and repubs have adult conversations every day. If you haven't been seeing that you're not paying enough attention to people who aren't in the cult on either side.

Man, what an episode and what an overtime. People with opposing view points speaking to each other respectfully and keeping it lighthearted. This is why this show still gets my attention
It’s rare they do it like this anymore. It’s typically all liberals and becomes an echo chamber.
Referring toTrump as"an asshole boyfriend' did not seem very 'respectful'. Would you have glazed over that remark if it had been directed at obama?
@@pm-ql4lp Of course not, because Obama is a decent married man.
This show is trash and has been for a long time.
@@pm-ql4lpBut Trump is the asshole boyfriend? Obama is the drug dealing way too slick boyfriend. At least get your false equivalencies straight
Some real interesting and intelligent conversations tonight. Thanks Bill!
Yeah the guy saying 2024 is the same for blacks as the 1930s was so intelligent 😂 shameless
This didn’t age well for Bakari
Nice job, Bill. Just cool to hear real conversation.
I disagree with the vast majority of what Bill Maher believes, but I totally respect him for having these important discussions with individuals from all sides. We need more of this.

@@SALESPRODUCTIONS Becuase they stop watching Real Time?
@@SALESPRODUCTIONS He's the one applauding having discussions with the other side and hearing other perspectives. Are you sure you aren't projecting?
Thanks, my exact thought🙏🏿
yeah, but I don't think Shapiro and McCarthey are exactly good representatives for conservatives, not that there are many who would be, given MAGA rule.
Why is Overtime so short ? S/B at least 30 minutes. Great group of knowledgeable people. Great show.
Did you just abbreviate "should be" to S/B? Wtf is wrong with you?
Because its an 2nd part to an hour long show
Did you really just abbreviate "should be?" 😂😂😂😂😂
@@pnut3844able😂
If you're gonna abbreviate "should be," you'd look a lot smarter if you use "sh be" instead of that dumb "S/B".

Civil discourse and disagreement . Exactly what we needed!
ECACTLY!!! 4 man who are having a civil conversation, disagreeing, but laughing at one another and also, at the end of the day a few of them are actually friends. This is how it should be. We are never going to agree on everything, but we should at least be civil about it

This is the healthy America. No Hate, just a matter of Opinion and everyone is allowed to talk, without judgment. This is what America used to be.
Except Ben Shapiro/Kevin McCarthy constantly fan the fires? Because they are nice on Bill Maher's show, all is good?
@@ShaneCarroll-y8o Exactly. This is them being good little boys. Their views and rhetoric to their target audience are vile and hate filled.
@@pcbro2 you are delusional. I’ve been watching Ben for over 10 years and he doesn’t spew hatred? You sound like you’re just giving a biased characterization of somebody you don’t like

I like conversations like this. Different points of view. Very interesting. Thank you!
It was all the same point of view! That is the problem!
3:24 aged very, very well.
Ben was respectful and had the best ‘drop mic’ moment. I could listen to these four for a long long time and I appreciate their humor, back and forth, and honest communication. ❤❤
lol what “mic drop”? He was spewing bs. You’re a fool
I must’ve watched a different video…
Good for Maher to have these guys in. Great debate.
Always great to have IDF supporters on the same stage
Braindead take @@jamesbingham1007
@@jamesbingham1007 He's literally had people from the right on his whole career going back to his old show. You couldn't be more wrong. lol
@@ohyeaaaa1 On his old show, he certainly did have plenty from the right. Even early on, on Real Time, he served the right, not as much, but still. Over the last 5 to 8 years, he's moved harder to the left. He has stopped having Dennis Prager, Larry Elder, Dennis Miller, Steven Crowder, Adam Corolla and you won't see a Thomas Sowell sighting. He'll have Greg Guttfeld on Club Randon, but not Real Time. Same with Candace Owens and Patrick Bet David. He'll sell a book on Megyn Kelly, but not have her on Real Time. He'll have Stephen A. Smith on and never mention Jason Whitlock or have him on. And you won't see Matt Walsh, Victor Davis Hanson or Pearl Davis on. Now, every person I named would be HUGE ratings and go super viral. But, they'd also wipe the floor with his liberal guests. Case in point, Ben Shapiro. But, don't you worry, a Friday show is in the works as we speak that will invite everyone of the people I just mentioned.
One of the best Real Times in a long time
He won PA , WI , and Michigan ❤️
Bill should consider having this panel on a very regular basis. Like all the time.
Absolute best overtime yet. Great group of guests, high-level perspective great job.
This was super entertaining. Funny and intelligent. 🖤
PS: This is also the America I love. Where were can come together and fight it out. Without "hate".
Great debating, Bill - more of this, thank you! Great show! We need both sides to speak to each other and more often!
This was a great set of conversations tonight….both sides. Well done gentlemen.

@@nittneylion84 Absolutely! Nobody resorted to name calling. It was exciting to watch and mentally stimulating
It was very informative and refreshing to see everyone listen to each other's points and be respectful. We need more of this! One issue I have is when Bill meets a topic he doesn't like and then shuts down the discussion or makes a joke and swivels to a new topic. This was very evident in this clip.
I found it pretty exhausting tbh, how everyone interrupted and tried to talk louder than everyone else.
Watched whole episode on HBO and there were some very tense moments during their debate, but overall very professional and still respectful. Too bad our presidential debates are not like this anymore…
Joe prepared for a debate and when trump refused to answer the questions while spewing non-sequiter lies put Biden in shock. It was no debate and the moderators let the lies fly.
What do you mean? The last one was pretty cordial, not perfect of course, but seems like it’s good enough and a step in the right direction.
@@AjaxDGonzo the last presidential debate was a step in the right direction? in my 40 years it was the most embarrassing presidential debate i have ever seen.

This is an example of dissenting opinions at play. That is freedom of speech and expression! No one resorted to , "You are a fascist!" as a logical response.
Yea they only resorted to calling democrats anti-semitic and pro-hamas. lol
Indeed, finally an honest and true discussion without all the disgusting name-calling as well as supression of speech going about.

Fantastic debate with fantastic guests. Bring them back please!!!
I enjoyed the diversity of opinion this time, and the fact that for the most part they engaged with each other fairly and politely, not attacking each other. That kind of proper debating is so rare in media these days, so this was actually a delight to watch!
This was an amazing discussion. I wish it was way longer.
Please please please! Bring back this panel on a regular basis. It was so good. ❤ They all did amazing. It felt like no one was being paid to push anything and they spoke freely. This needs to be the normal. Very refreshing. I would never miss this.
This was a really good and respectful conversation.
Giving legitimacy to people like McCarthy who have done their best to give credibility to the 6 Jan 2024 riots to save their political platform shows how ridiculous this show has become.
Awesome discussion.
This is what we want: real diverging opinions. Healthy discussion. And lighthearted to boot.
Keep it up!
Bill Maher, “we gotta go” every time he’s being outsmarted.
Well done Bill..excellent show tonight !

I dont agree with Shapiro on alot of topics but do respect his abilty to listen and respond intelligently. Overall, fantastic show, best ive seen in a while
If he'd actually listen and stop interrupting before someone's finished their point I might agree.
He’s not my cup of tea politically but he’s almost always the best-informed person in the room - and very smart
Trump literally got 20% of the black vote in 2024.
That guy was dead wrong. 😂😂😂
Instantly improve the show by reducing the applause interruptions.
And making OVERTIME longer.
And the intern who always yells “woo” in the audience every time there’s a laugh
Great mix and conversation, GREAT discussion!
It's so nice to see both Democrats and Republicans having an adult conversation about issues.
"If you don't support Israel's ongoing massacre of innocent children you are a pro-hamas anti-semite!" Very adult conversation.
3 republicans 1 democrat. If I wanted to watch that I'd watch fox news. Ntm bakari is an israel-lobby democrat.
it'd be better to hear them offer some solutions and compromises
@robi6317 hundreds of solutions for every issue have been offered. The problem is with the voters. We have known for 248 years a big federal gov was a bad thing. From the founding documents to the late 50s, the population agreed that the Fed Gov should be held to its constitutional limits. Because gov does nothing well and the bigger it gets the more inefficient it becomes.
Then, all of a sudden, the people decided the gov was going to take care of them with social security. ( Social security was introduced to only work for the families of the soldiers killed in WW2. It wasn't planned to last more than 20 years. )
Today, 34% of all employees in the US are federal government employees.
Love, love well informed guests discussing real American concerns.
This is the robust debate we need! I just made an 80th birthday dinner for dear friends. One a Vietnam war veteran. We need to listen to the people who have experienced the results of decisions!
I wish that conversation was longer
This was a really good show ...and the guests made for some of the best conversation...really wonderful...
